I appreciate this taqueria for keeping the prices cute with having their business on Broadway Street. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES Y’ALL🗣️
1st time here loved it.
My friend and I love having our breakfast get togethers here. The lady's are always sweet and very loving. Great food for a good price. Highly recommend.
Caremelita's is great breakfast & lunch experience with authentic cuisine & very friendly service. It's a very popular place at times - early morning and early afternoon in particular; the staff & owners are very good at ensuring efficiency & quality remain high at all times. Carmelita's tops the list in San Antonio!
I’ve been going Carmalitas for a very long time and the customer service is always good. When I place over the phone orders they answer quick and are very polite on the phone. I’ve never had issues with them. Keep doing a great job! Great customer service and great food. They also have great salsa !!
I don't understand why they only have 3.9 The food was delicious and the service was great. I had tacos
My favorite place for breakfast. When we stay in San Antonio we look forward to eating here. I am a native San Antonian and I find this food right on the mark. I have not had any meal other than breakfast though. We are moving back to San Antonio, and right down the street from here. Reasonably priced.
Best food in town made fresh. Very friendly staff good atmosphere and fair prices. Come over and enjoy really delicious Mexican food. Owner os very attentive with her customers.
I eat/order from here multiple times a week. The food is amazing as well as the service I recommend the green avocado sauce, it adds great flavor to already amazing food! 🙏🙌
What a great place. Just randomly pulled in. Went in, and the staff was so friendly the food was great, it didn't take long for the food to be ready. Highly recommend this place!!
Great breakfast tacos and plates
Delicious tacos at a great price with a large selection of dishes. Very friendly and attentive staff too. If I lived in San Antonio this would be a frequently visited shop for me.
Been working in the area for 12 years and never tried this spot until recently. Had noticed it is always slammed in the mornings and figured people knew something I didn't. Got to work around 6:30 AM and was starving around an hour later. Carmelitas is close, so decided to try it out. The friendliest service anywhere. Came out to the truck with a giant smile and returned with fantastic food. Highly recommended.
Carmelita's was recommended by someone at Ft. Sam as the best place to buy tamales. I enjoyed crispy tacos beans and rice and picked up my fresh and frozen tamales on a recent afternoon. Service wonderful food great, atmosphere family mexican food, tamales outstanding!
Went to this restaurant because I wanted to eat something.. and nothing looked good... When I walked in I was welcomed and the employees were very sweet. They seated us and made sure the food came out quickly. There food was amazing. From the chips and coffee to the main meals. Everything was delicious
Extremely friendly staff, food was ready quick and was excellent (cheese enchilada plate). It's a nice and cozy place. I'm not usually on this side of town, but if I find myself in the area, I will definitely stop by again.
This was the first time we visited this restaurant. The service was friendly and willingly made accommodations to our requests. The food was delicious and authentic. Loved the homemade corn & flour tortillas! We will definitely return to try other items on the menu.
Didnt order but they were very kind and welcoming
Use to go here years back. Recently revised. Still a great restaurant. Highly recommended. Great food, friendly staff. Parking lot is small but you can park on the side street.
Excellent staff quick service and they kept coming back to see if I wanted anything else. The food came out in a timely manner. Everything was as I had ordered it. The salsa was on point when I was there. The environment of the business matched the type of business. This was overall a pleasant experience. I will definitely attend this location again when the road returns.
Best enchiladas in town. At a very good price
Solid little place with good food , been here several times and always been satisfied, good service too
Great Mexican food spot. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very popular to go orders especially the breakfast tacos.
BVOCAL4LOCAL Ended up here by accident I was meeting a friend somewhere else that turned out to be closed. This was our lucky day. Great food. Great service. I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I really liked the coffee as did this friend. And if you don't want to have bacon don't let anybody at your table order it because you will want it LOL it is that good old-fashioned thick bacon umm. This friend ordered the huevos rancheros but change the potatoes out for a small salad. Looked great! We both decided this was going to be on both of our regular routes. Servers were great. The tortillas were not my favorite magical fat ones but powdered and fresh, more ummm
Great breakfast spot we stopped at. We had an appt and we were an hr early so we turned back around and stopped here. Right off the bat, the waitress greeted us at the car to ask if we were curbside order, etc. We asked if we could dine in and they said yes! Ordered and then asked if we could sit outside and enjoy the fresh morning after the thunderstorms we'd had. Food was delivered fresh and fast. And food was so satisfying and perfect! My daughter had the migas plate that had refried beans and potatoes and i ordered a carne guisada torta with FF. Definitely would recommend to stop in!
This was my first time here. Their customer service is amazing! I was immediately greeted by the friendly hostess/ cashier. My food arrived quickly. It was delicious😋. Their Carne Guisada tacos are very flavorful, and the salsa was excellent. Love this place. I highly recommend it.
Been here a couple of times. One instance the waitress was being courteous and seems though the manager or supervisor was being mean and pushing her to just move on to the next customer even though it was not busy. Food was not that great, average.
The food was excellent. The staff was very nice, they did seem in a bit of a hurry to get us to order and for us to leave. But the restaurant was clean, nicely decorated. It is a bit hard to see from the street. Over all we had a lovely time.
Crowded seating and very little parking space. I felt they could do without a couple of tables. I liked how they added six outdoor tables. Food is good. Restrooms are clean. I'm happy they have hot tea.
Came in for early lunch, hostess was great, waitress not so great. Also man at next table ordered an expensive lunch plate and left without hardly touching it, turned out he found hair in his food. Idk if I will return.
Great little place near The Pearl on Broadway. Went for breakfast on a Friday morning at about 0830. Not crowded. Although there are many breakfast plates on the menu, I ordered tacos. The Chorizo con Huevo was a tad bland but the Potato, Egg and Bacon was very, very good -- lots of flavor. There are two hot sauces on the table. The green salsa marked as Spicy was tasty but the red salsa was super-spicy and really delicious. Excellent flour tortillas. Attentive and friendly service. Very cheerful atmosphere. Parking lot is relatively small but there is lots of on-street space on the street next to the parking lot. I look forward to a return visit very soon.
First time and will definitely be coming back. Service was amazing. And it was nice to see they have regulars and know exactly what they want. One of the waitresses even went out to help one of her regulars out of his truck. The food was well served and such an authentic homemade taste.
food can be a little bland for plates but some really good breakfast tacos on corn!!
Good Morning I made a quick stop this morning at Carmelitas Mexican Restaurant to order some (Huveos Rancheros) to go. The over easy eggs, Beans and potatoes were delicious. I have two mild complaints. The tortillas were rock hard just 15 minutes later here at work. The tortilla recipe needs a little lard, because all i taste is flour and water mix after they are cooked. The bacon was a little hard to chew. other then that everything else was delicious. JOHN
Wonderful Texas Mexican food served super fast with a smile. Excellent local restaurant for everyday dining. Breakfast always available.
Flavor: B Service: A Tea: B Solo dining: A I arrived about an hour before closing and they were still eager to serve. The Carmelitas plate is a great combo platter including a puffy taco. And you get two homemade tortillas. Typical Tex-Mex but a little greasy. The tea was a little weak for my taste but still fresh and made in-house. It was plenty of food and all piping hot and good. It's a shame this place isn't open for dinner because it's far superior to the other Mexican place down the road. I'll be back to try some breakfast tacos.
It was a good atmosphere but there were only 2 waitresses and I had to return my plate die to my Carne Guisada being cold and all that was done was it was put in the microwave and at that point it was only warm not hot. I had high hopes since I'm from deep south texas and knowing the flavor of authentic Mexican food from border cities this was an ehh for me not a wow like I wanted.
Menudo: 1/10 scale Flavor - 7 - was okay Amount - 4 - Not much meat and pozole Pata - 2 - it was very tough Tortillas - 5 very little effort to prepare Staff - 9 - very attentive and nice Price - 7 -around $12 for Menudo and OJ Return - clean establishment, probably will return but order something else
It was alright the food was good not great but good. Will I go back no
We went for breakfast. This was our second time here as a family. My husband works close by so he wanted us to try it. The food was good, but we were over charged. I didn't notice until later. This place was a bit out of the way for us so we will just stick to our usual place.
It was okay, food tasted good, but $33 for a meal and a burger seems much. Not going back for lunch again.
Not really Mexican...more Tex-Mex...still a good place to grab some lunch
This is a clean and pleasant place where the service was quick and the staff was friendly. The food was good but I would not say that it was really any different than what you could find at countless small to medium sized Mexican restaurants all across San Antonio. The only noticeable difference I found here that distinguished it from many similar restaurants is that the portion sizes are fairly large. So if you stop at this restaurant and eat everything on your order you will definitely leave feeling full.
I wish the food here was five stars. Great location and great press. But we left feeling like we shouldn't eat Mexican for a while. Tried about 10 things on the menu. The barbacoa was good and the taco special is cheap. Everything else unfortunately mediocre. You can get bean and cheese or papa ranchera 3 for $5.99, but the tortilla is meh. Chile verde tasted sharp like something wasn't fresh. EXCELLENT SERVICE from our kind waitress.
Went for Lunch today September 20, 2024. Disappointed on the lunch special price👎$11 dollars Tea included any other Mexican Restaurant it would of been $8👎Plate food tasted good but the plate looked like a child’s plate👎tiny flauta, tiny enchilada and well puffy taco a fair size, tiny bean and rice portion👎I’m not coming back to this restaurant they are Greedy 👎
Nasty food. Also grace is tasteless and watery and expensive. They don’t make sure Uber eats are getting everything including drinks
Had a piece of plastic in my chicken enchilada. Almost chock on it! When I pointed it out to the waitress she took the piece of plastic and left with no offer to replace my meal. When I told the person at the register about it she said she knew but did not offer any type of compensation. I ask what they were going to do about it and they gave me $2.00 off my meal. (Probably thinking i would leave the two dollars as a tip). So sad 😒 this use to be a great place to eat.
Food isn’t pleasant. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I ordered a second dish because the first one was so bad. I should’ve stopped at the very beginning with their terrible salsa. The two stars are for their flour tortillas. Those were actually decent.
I come here because it’s close by. The food here is OK at best. The reason for this not so flattering review is because the women who work here weird me out a little. I came here 2 weeks ago(take out) , they had gotten my order wrong but by the time I found out I was far away. Then I came again last week. I did bring it up to them but didn’t make a big deal but I requested that they check the order. No big deal. Today I pulled up into a parking spot and one of the waitresses runs up to my car door and wasn’t letting me get out my car. I’ve been driving all morning and needed to stretch out. The lady clearly got upset that I didn’t stay in my car and then when I asked why the sudden protocol and she walked away like I did something wrong. Then I asked the lady behind the register why was my car approached and she said that “since Covid some people prefer it that way”. I’ve been coming here since I live close by(out of convenience) and this is the first time I’ve had someone run up to my car door and prevent me from opening up my car door. It’s a little weird. It got weirder when as I waiting for my order they kept giving each other weird looks. I’m gonna stop coming here. The food isn’t that great anyways.
I thought their service was slow for having maybe 3 tables and 2 waitresses. It’s not that hard to wait tables, I would now I used to be a waiter. I ate here today with my parents and fiancé, food was okay but my father did not like his enchiladas. Chicken was dry, mole was flavorless. At first they served them cold coffee, then corrected it. But when I tried to correct the enchilada issue the lady at the counter gave me serious attitude, I believe she was the owner or part owner in that matter. She should take pride in her business, by correcting the issues not giving an attitude. I will not come here anymore nor will I recommend to anyone I know.
Service was meh. Portion control was terrible. My tacos had almost nothing on them and my friend's were loaded. Beans tasted unseasoned, bacon was burned, and beans were cold. Prices were too high for what I got, but the owner needs that Escalade.
It's ok place. The serving staff are quick and want you to decide once you sit before looking at menu, was a little turn off. Food is ok, nothing special. Potatoes were cold. Coffee was good. A little pricey for the serving size.
Dont even bother if ordering from favor. I'm 2 miles away and by time the food came it was cold and the portions are very small. I basically paid $40 for 4 tacos because that's all of my order that was semi edible.
I have lived down the street for years and every experience here has been terrible with customer service but the food is usually good. Every 6 months or so I give in and give them another shot due to convenience. My most recent trip was last week. I went in and ordered 2 tacos to go, the lady asked if I would like a drink. I asked the lady if it came with it(due to sign with 2 taco and drink special but doesn’t say what tacos). The lady dropped her pen, rolled her eyes and said “no only *named the tacos*” This was a simple question. I let this go and sat down to wait for my order. When my order was ready the same lady walks up to me with the bag and aggressively hands to me saying “HERE” While I know Carmelita’s has been in business a very long time and my review not my occasional visit will mean much to them, this is the last time I will give them 1 more chance. Past experiences were very similar with unnecessary attitude towards paying customers. It’s a shame because the food is actually good.
Waitress was very very sweet. Food was decent nothing wrong with it at all but I did fine plastic in my food which whatever simple mistake i guess so I went to tell some lady in the front like “hey I found plastic in my food in the middle of almost being done with it”, they offered me more food but I said “it’s okay I would just like a refund on my plate” I could’ve asked for both plates we could’ve left but we didn’t wanna be rude about it then she continues and says “I am gonna go check the back to see if there’s any plastic” like if I wasn’t telling the truth and then we head out to pay and she goes “we don’t have any plastic in the back so idk what that was” and thinking she was gonna give me a refund she charged me. That’s when I got annoyed and I was like “uhm I’m sorry but I’m gonna need a refund. I’m not gonna pretend like I had plastic in my food I pulled it out of the chicken in the tortilla” then she gave me my refund but I would’ve been fine if they were like “I’m so sorry that was a mistake we never have plastic in our food etc..” but continued to argue with me a trying to prove I was wrong or something🤦🏽♀️.
2 stars because the price was ridiculous. I got 2 special plates that were 14 something $ but no drink included and the drinks were like 5 or 6 dollars each. Spent close to 50 on just me and my husband. For that price I would've gone to olive garden or downtown. Food was good but not worth the price I payed for.
Upon entering I had paint chips from there front sign fall into my hair I hope the Wooden sign doesn’t fall on anybody building definitely needs to be painted and maintenance around the perimeter That was the 1st sign of many 2nd sign some watered down agua de horchata after asking for something different they offered me a fresh one from a fresh batch waitress just dumped the fresh one into the existing one came back just as bad 3rd sign a crunchy huevo con chorizo with a side of dehydrated potatoes that looked more like brown raisins felt like I was eating something off the little rascals 4th and final was an upset stomach all day My brunch was ruined I wouldn’t recommend to anybody the staff was friendly though
This restaurant takes advantage of you! I went to this Mexican restaurant expecting a great meal and a good time. However, it soon went south when the bill came. Turns out, the price of our meals and drinks is HIGHER than the menu's price. I have never seen such act before! Prices went up ridiculously! No recomiendo este lugar muy Caro cambian los precios del menu $2 a $3 mas caro del menu ridiculo. Segun van a cambiar menu🤦♂️🤦♂️ no recomendado
CHECK your charges!!! The food is hit or miss. I have eaten here about 10 times in last year mostly for its convenient location to the military installation. I have suspected that my tickets have been a bit high in the past but never checked until today. I ate alone today and was charged for my tea and also a "big red" drink. She seemed very nervous when I asked to explain why my bill seemed high and she immediately conceded, admiting the big red charge was inaccurate. She gave me back the cash without issue but I have a strong suspicion these "accidental" charges are a norm based off my experiences here (some if which I have just outlined). Regardless, make sure you check your bill.
Today went there to pick up some food, tacos are good, but the owner has a rbf, she was rude and pushy, what a horrible attitude and a horrible lady, you can feel she is not happy, and the waitresses are weird, they don’t like to take to go orders, they are ungrateful tbh, tacos were ok, I’m not trying to say food was bad, but I wouldn’t eat inside, again the owner has really bad attitude towards everyone, not just me, they were a couple of construction workers there, and she was furious and making faces, lady, everyone’s money is the same, again food good, service super horrible
First, they have sign stating .99 cent tacos till 10. 2 bucks a taco is not 99 cents. Tacos had barely anything in them, with the bacon resembling charcoal. Service was terrible, the lady at register has a very bad attitude. I wouldn’t return if it was the last Mexican restaurant in town.
This is not Mexican food. I am not from here and just made a mistake of ordering this through Favor the delivery app. I still will have to order something else because my kids hated this food. The guacamole is tasteless and processed with no seasoning or Pico, the cheese is like government cheese, the enchiladas are covered in a mysterious gravy and are made with tasteless red tortillas. There’s nothing good here... don’t waste your money or time eating this food.
Disappointing. Carne Guisada was salty and flour tortillas were like paper plates and cold. I even asked for a softer and hot replacement set. They brought out the same tortilla just reheated. SMH. Not sure what food everyone else ate when they reviewed this place but with my experience, I will NOT be returning and certainly DO NOT recommend. Just go to Taco Cabana. At least there you’ll get fresher tortillas.
Very overpriced food for low quality Mexican food. Decided to give it another chance today and they charged us $40 for 1 adult and 2 kids! Crazy
As bad as it gets. Slow day. Even slower service. Just a couple tables besides us (party of 3), and our server would never come around. She messed up our order argued that it was our mistake. The real problem came as my wife started eating her soup and dicovered several Gnats in it. By no way shape or form should this place be kept open.
One of the worst Mexican restaurants I’ve ever had in my entire life the meat is severely unseasoned and leaves a lot to be desired.if I were you I would NOT stop by this place. Also the prices are high as hell YOU HVE BEEN WARNED!!
I heard this place was good, and I was SO disappointed and I never write reviews but this so bad I felt it is my duty to speak truth. My friends and I went there for lunch. I got a taco salad. I didn’t want chicken on my salad and still they charged full price plus extra for beans. The salad had no crispy delicious sell, it literally was a plate of sad looking plate of iceberg lettuce with no salas, no sour cream and they charged for cheese!!!! My heart literally hurt after seeing what they called a taco salad. My friend got nachos. They literally portioned her nachos by presenting her with 9 individual chips on a plate. That plus 2 fish tacos and drinks came to over $36 and they said they gave us a discount. I will not be returning and I advise all who are looking for good food at a fair price to stay away.
First time potatoe & egg taco 5 potatoes with very little egg more like no egg that’s how bad this was no favor very dry after that I just gave away my bean & cheese taco wasn’t trying to eat that so I wasted 5$ never again smh
Ordered through door dash my 109 year old client wanted enchiladas de queso(2 were sent not 3) she ended up spitting it out. Beans were over cooked to where they were flakey. For myself got 2 tacos one of asada and one fajita and no spit it out had to much something I don't even know what it was and a white round I want to say vaine cause it's all I can think it looked like. Very disappointed more for my client that wanted her enchiladas.
Had a large order for a Food Delivery Service. They were fast with the order which was a good thing. The waitress was nice, but once I spoke to what seemed the owner or whatever she was (she dressed up, not wearing waitress uniform) she was so rude and had a nasty attitude. Customer service was horrible with her, because of her I would not recommend this place at all.
Asked for a sausage and egg taco and sent it back after they served me egg and a hot dog diced up in little pieces. I don't know if they know the difference between hot dog frank and real beef sausage. Prices are way to high this place needs to be evaluated.
I have had their breakfast plates and tacos 3 times between now and last February. The first time was dine in and service was ok and portions were not as much on the breakfast plates. I had ordered for delivery twice and tacos were not filled as they had skimped on the amount. Plus they had burnt the potatoes and chorizo which was not edible. I will never eat and order from there again.
I heard this place was great. I tried it out for the first time the other day. I ordered 3 tacos togo. It came out to $3 and some change. I went to pull out my debt card to pay. I was told there is a $5 minimum and that i would have to order more food. I then told the lady to forget it went to grab my debt card, she would not let it go. She then told me she would do it this time, but to remember that next time. I am a CHEF at the pearl i have been in this industry for 10 year's. You should have been gratefull that i chose to spend my money at your place. I will never return.
From the owner to the waitress. They are rude ,my mother was trying to get the waitress and owner attention even yelled excuses and still gets ignored. Then the didn't even bring menus just assume we knew what we wanted. Food is burned . Service slow. Bread not toasted its cold.
The food here is so bad. I tried an asada and the meat was so chewy and stuck together I immediately spit it out and threw it away. We ordered tacos for our employees and the prices through favor came out to $27, we work very close by so we just called it in and picked up. But when we picked up our order they charged $40. Wouldn’t care if the food had been good. Everyone said how bad their tacos were. 1st and last time getting food from here.
individual nachos were tasteless and soggy, also who puts shredded lettuce and tomato on nachos? beef fajita taco was just boiled beef and green peppers, the foil itself smelled when i opened it. rice was burnt into the Styrofoam and all the food tasted like Styrofoam, enchiladas were just covered in tasteless cheese and unseasoned sauce and I asked for sweet tea and only got unsweet tea. and they gave zero salsa for an order that was for like 4 people. truly the worst mexican food ive ever gotten in san antonio
The wait staff is nice. But the food is horrible its cold . And very over priced . Asked for scrambled eggs they over cooked eggs then chopped them up. Just horrible. The tortillas were ice cold. The coffee was over brewed and ice cold. First time here this is our last time here!!!
I ordered menudo. More liquid than meat. The menudo was made red out tomatoes sauce instead red guajillo and pasilla peppers. For white customer might be the best. But for real Mexican specialy from North Mexico. This is very disappointing.
Called to ask me how I wanted my tripas, which was awesome but then they didn’t even make them as requested so epic fail. They were extra soft almost mushy and I asked for extra crispy. The beans however were OVERCOOKED so the bean and cheese/bean and chorizo tasted BURNT. I guess thats why they only put a couple of spoonfuls in each bean tacos. Theyre just hoping you cant taste the char. The guisada was brown(plus!) but not only was it majority fat but it was completely flavorless… not even the cheese helped string it along. The only plus to this place was the fact that the salsa is HOT but with nothing to eat it on, it’s just a waste. 1 star for an exceptional soda and that’s it.
They advertise a $8.99 lunch special but don’t mention it inside and point to other higher priced specials. ONLY MEXICAN RESTAURANT I HAVE NEVER BEEN OFFERED FREE SALSA AND CHIPS! Food is Bland @ Best thanks goodness for salsa!! Mis charge for a la carte items, unless you point it out! ONE AND DONE FOR SURE!!!!!!!
If you’re craving Mexican food, go anywhere else. The tacos were bland, lifeless, and tasted like disappointment wrapped in a tortilla. The salsa came in a bizarre container that made it nearly impossible to use. And the coffee? I’m pretty sure it was just hot water with instant coffee dumped straight in—more grounds than liquid. Save your time, money, and taste buds. This place is a hard pass.
The waitress was pushy and wouldn't give us time to look at the menu even after we told her it was our first time. I ordered a plate specifically because it came with "avocado salad" but when the brought my plate, there was no "salad" and maybe a half spoon of liquids "avocado" . I was extremely disappointed. The only good thing was their puffy taco. Then, they overcharged us 9$. My husband got a hamburger plate and water while I got Carmelita's plate and a tea. The cashier tried charging us $33! I'll never go here again or recommend it...unless I don't like you lol. I attached a pic of my plate with the disappointing "salad".
