Hubby and I arrived in San Antonio this week today and Viola's Ventana's was the first restaurant we went to. It. Was. Excellent. We started with margaritas which were delicious and we both got tacos - hubby ordered the puffy tacos with chicken and I ordered the blackened fish tacos. Both dishes were excellent! The server was attentive and all the staff were super nice. I have a lot of places to explore this week, but I can tell you that Viola's is on my list to return to and recommend in the future.
First time coming here I don't ever put reviews on places but this place extraordinary! The community is so vibrant yet classy yet comfortable! Food was delicious and our waiter very respectful! The owner greated me and family and asked how the food was, and I thought it very sweet for him to care so much about his customers and his mother's restaurant! One of my new favorite places I would recommend to anyone wanting to come!
We went to Viola's Ventanas expecting some Tex-Mex comfort food - enchiladas and chips and queso. What we got was so much more. We started on recommendation from the staff with the Queso Flamedo. Little did we know that it would be cooked with fire in a cast iron skillet at our table. This resulted in a queso that was so thick that is required a tortilla and not chips, but man was it so delicious! What a unique experience! Then came our entrees. I got the Enchiladas En Mole, and I found it delicious. In short, we not only enjoyed our meal but thought it exceeded our expectations, and would definitely come back here if in the area again.
Justin was very helpful in making suggestions as we had never been here before. The enchiladas, steak, and puffy tacos were great. Soo much food, too much to eat at once. The atmosphere was really cool too. We sat outside on the patio and didn't regret it. There was a guy playing some live music, which was nice.
Very spacious area for large groups, 1st time visit with family from outside the USA. They wanted authentic Mexican food. Viola's Ventanas was just that flavor and taste we were looking for, the live entertainment, meeting the owner as he walked around the bldg, very friendly staff. Also very delicious food and reasonably priced for large parties. We stayed at Hyatt resort just down the road which had a recommended sheet in our room.
We definitely had a good time. Our server Abram did a great 👍🏾 job... He was very personable and efficient.. the chips and salsa 🌶️ were yummy... We had the ventanas plate 🍽️ enchilada, flauta and tostada... 🥑. This is clearly one of San Antonio's gem 💎 restaurants... The restaurant itself is lovely and inviting... It is 🫧 clean and plenty of theme decor.... They also had a display of "Mexican" items for sale; such as colorful and adorable stuffed animals.... Yes, of course Stella got one! Learning of the history and the resilience of the strong woman that started the place was so heartwarming. Kudos to her for the legacy she has built for her children!
We were in town for a few days and this restaurant was on our hotel restaurant listing. The reviews looked great and it was close to our resort, so we gave it a try. The food, customer service and atmosphere were awesome!! We went during lunch time, so there was no wait. Yadira was very friendly, professional, attentive and kind. She provided everything we needed without us having to ask. The back patio, which I saw through our nearby window, was so inviting with beautiful flowers and fall decorations. It was really warm outside, so we chose an indoor table instead. We selected the fajitas for two and added shrimp. It was SO delicious!! Their Chile Con Queso and homemade chips were also soo delicious! We would certainly eat here again!!
This place is bigger than it looks! We sat in the patio because it was next to the playground. The play area is fenced in and plenty of room/shade for the kids. They had a solo singer playing country, alternative rock, a few other random radio hits. The house margaritas had a good flavor but very weak. We didn’t try any other top shelf or specialty margaritas. The food was a lot better than expected, very good Tex Mex overall (see pics). We ordered queso flameado (which they lit up 🔥) chile rellenos, creamy poblano enchiladas, enchiladas verdes and a kids quesadillas. I will definitely be back.
Amazing food that was cooked perfectly! The ambience was beautiful, clean inside and lots of different activities going on especially birthday parties! Service was great, friendly and on point! Food was delivered quickly and all at the same time as the people at our table. Prices were moderate and you left feeling satisfied and wanting to come back! I highly recommend Viola's Ventanas for a complete GREAT experience!

One of the few top tier Mexican restaurants left in town after Jacala burnt down. Everything I've tried is great, thier chips are incredibly delicious.

People come here for the drinks and ambiance. The food is good if you know what to order. I loved the cheese they used on the quesataco. Not too greasy and delicious. The poblano dip was SO good and the à la carte tacos were good as well. I’m not a fan of overpriced Tex mex, but if you know what to order you will have a great time here. The kids loved the playground
We were a group of 13 with a short notice reservation for an outside table. The wait was just a few minutes, the waitstaff was incredibly polite and efficient, and the food was great. The only downside was the o erwhelmed bathroom plumbing because thrre were so many patrons that day. Still, they opened up the teeny staff restroom to us and i was happy. I love this place.
We celebrated my cousin’s 45th birthday here. We were outside and it got pretty hot. The owner’s should think about putting fans with misters outside. We went on a Tuesday and they had a crispy taco plate (2) with rice and beans for $7.99, I believe only on Tuesdays. I had the prickly pear margarita, which was good frozen. I also had the jalapeno with cucumber margarita which was double the price and was not worth $15.50. I should have returned it, I got it on the rocks. The crispy taco plate was worth $7.99, yet I would not recommend you get the drinks unless they have happy hour. All in all the service was good and the 2 crispy tacos with rice and beans were good. They also have jewelry for sale. Nice place. Our servers were patient and kind for such a large party of about 35 people.
Food is really good. Camerones tropicales is my current favorite. But the chicken flautas are also super yummy. They have a shaded play area for the kiddos and a back patio that caters to big parties. Food and drinks just take a really long time to come out. I can order to go, and it will be faster than if we are sitting in. Drinks also take a really long time. But overall would recommend Violas!
The food was very good, but our server was not experienced and had a hard time understanding how to time good service. We waited almost 45 min to get our food and he just really didn't get how to give good service. Nice guy, just not there yet. The outside is beautiful and the atmosphere is ok. I would go back hoping g for a different service experience.
Overall, it was a nice experience. Our waitress was great, and the atmosphere was outstanding. One nuisance. There were fruit flies flying about. 🫤 🪰 However, the food was mediocre. Nothing amazing. We ordered the Parillada Platter ($99) for 6 and added the shrimp (+$20). Lots of food but not the highest quality. The short ribs were tough, pork chops & chicken were overcooked, and bacon was cheap. The beef fajitas, shrimp, and grilled onions were very good, though. So, I would recommend skipping this platter and opt for the fajita plate. Also, I ordered a House margarita and my wife ordered Top Shelf one. Definitely avoid the House as it was watered down (see last 2 pics). This restaurant has so much potential with its beautiful scenery and great service!
The patio is a beautiful place to sit when the weather is right and the food is delicious. On this most recent visit we enjoyed flautas, enchilada sampler, shrimp poblano nachos, and chicken enchiladas in poblano suace. We especially enjoy the chips, queso, and frozen margaritas. The ambience on the patio is the best part of a visit here.
The food was pretty good. The queso was a bigger hit than the guacamole. The enchiladas were the best overall. We got all our food to go. It was super nice that they included silverware and napkins without me asking. They took a bit to have it ready. I do like that they do alcohol to go at a affordable price. The place was pretty packed so it was hard to find parking.
Great ambiance at this restaurant! You can choose to eat inside or outside. It is pricey($15+), but it also has plates for a reasonable price($7+). Food is good. Kids can enjoy playing at the huge playground area that the restaurant has outside. However, we didn’t give a five star because they don’t have hot chocolate, oatmeal, nor fresh lemonade. Also, there is a part of the playground that has not been fixed since the first time we went, on September 2022. Other than that, this restaurant is enormous and spacious. An awesome place to dine and chat with friends or family time.
Queso dip and food was slightly warm, more on the cold side. The restaurant is beautiful and service was ok.

We enjoyed our dinner outside while listening to the entertainment. It's just a nice setting. Our food was good and the server was nice.
If the food is as good as clean as these bathrooms are; then I hope the kitchen is clean as well. We had a large party more than 30 people and only 1 waiter that was also serving 2 other tables. I hope 🤞 they can hire staff to clean the restrooms and organize a 1 waiter to 10-15 guest policy. Took over and hour to get our drinks and food order put in. It’s not the waiters fault, it’s the fault of the business owner that likely isn’t paying their staff a fair wage to keep staff employed given I was told by management they are extremely short staffed. It’s unfortunate and we won’t return given the large number of business we can choose from in such a large city.
Let me just say this place is so beautiful! From the inside to the outside the area is well taken care of. If it wasn't so hot I would have definitely enjoyed sitting outside because they have a pl…

Service here is always a bit questionable but this last visit it was non-existent. My wife and I went there but never saw a server. We were quickly sat at a table by the hostess. Then we waited almost 15 min with numerous servers walking by the table, looking at us, but never even acknowledging us. My wife went to hostess stand to ask that someone come to our table but nothing changed for 5 min so we ended up leaving. Very disappointing since we live nearby and food is usually good.
Always had enjoyable experiences the few times I’ve been there, with delicious food, but this Friday totally changed my perspective on this establishment. Me and my family came on a fairly busy night and felt totally ignored because the service focused on certain group of people or social class. People were seated before us even after arriving later than us with no reservation, and when my family was seated we waited more than 15 with nobody coming to our table to check on us or take order, while other tables we’re tentatively taken care of, and served with a smile while us totally ignored. The only difference I can distinguish was skin complexion and maybe social status. I’m a blue collar man, who sometimes doesn’t have time to throw on best clothes for dinner but no excuse for the attire I have on, we shouldn’t be shunned for a good meal or service.
I recently dined at Viola’s and, unfortunately, was left disappointed. The food was significantly overpriced for what was served; it honestly tasted like something you could get at Taco Cabana for a fraction of the price. The service was another letdown. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, it took 30 minutes just to get our queso and a full hour for our meals to arrive. The staff seemed overwhelmed, which made the wait feel even longer. If you’re looking for a place with decent ambiance to impress a first date (and don’t mind splurging), Viola’s might work for you. However, if you simply want a satisfying meal and efficient service, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. There are better options in town for both quality and value.
