Huevos rancheros were delicious! The potatoes were well seasoned. And my husband‘s salad was yummy and crispy as well. I love the eclectic vibe in there and the service was great.
Incredible! A real gem in San Clemente. We had a special: Egg Benedict on a Croissant and Mex Breakfast Bowl. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended!
Breakfast game: Olympic-level strong. 💪 Okay, listen up... I just had the most insane experience at this spot called Cafe Rae, and I literally cannot stop thinking about it. Ladies, you know when you meet a guy who's actually nice AND attractive? This place is basically that, but in restaurant form. So I order their special pesto breakfast hoagie, right? And when it arrived—no exaggeration—I had a full-on relationship with this sandwich. First date, honeymoon phase, and then seriously thought about going exclusive. It was out of this world! Like, I'm talking the kind of sandwich that makes you want to text your ex just to tell them you’ve moved on. The place itself? Adorable. It's got that aesthetic that would absolutely kill on an Instagram feed. They have this little flower garden outside that looks like they were left by the Indians and then they built the restaurant around them. It literally smells like manure out there. That’s how well they tend that garden: Delightfully charming. The kind of floral setup that makes you want to bring your mom there just so she knows you’re less likely to end up in jail now. And can we talk about the service for a second? The staff there, particularly Nina—absolute queen bee-havior. The service was so good at this place I almost felt bad for not bringing a bottle of wine or something. Almost. Will I be back tomorrow? Is water wet? Of course I will. I'm already picking out what I'm going to wear. This place isn't just a meal, it's a vibe. Five stars, easy. Actually, if I could give it six stars for making me feel things I haven't felt since my last situationship ended, I would. and if this review convinces you to eat there: you’re welcome.
Pleasant surprise. We were hungry and stopped for late breakfast/lunch. Food and portion size was great. Real local and hippy vibes. The restaurant kinda asks to pay in cash, so try to have some before going.
So glad we popped in here for breakfast! Good move to go a bit earlier than usual to beat the crowd. We showed up around 9am and it wasn’t too busy but the place was full by 10am. We got the brisket omelette and they’re stuffed French toast special. They were both delicious! The omelette came with a really good portion of brisket, breakfast potatoes, and toast. You can pick from different breads for you toast, so I went with challah. It’s a quirky joint, definitely worth going back to.
I went here a few months ago and I guess I started the review and forgot to finish it. Went here for brunch and ordered for takeout. This place definitely gets busy on the weekend and be prepared to wait. There was a party there that was willing to wait like 30-45 minutes. Figured this place must be really good if people are willing to wait or come earlier because they already know there's a wait. I was a little disappointed because their google menu was a little out of date. They didn't have the pulled pork omelet or the banana- caramel fluff cream cheese stuffed and crusted french toast. The ladies who took my order was super nice and accommodating. Regardless, how busy they were they still took the time to help and explain their menu to me. 1. Brisket -salsa- sour cream omelet - super juicy and a good portion. The potatoes compliment the omelet perfectly. 2. Sausage and bacon breakfast burrito- delicious and still tasted good when we ate it like an hour or so later because we were so stuffed from the other 2 items. 3. French toast they were able to customize for me because I was deeply looking forward to the banana caramel fluff French toast.. They made me a stuffed and crusted french toast which had bananas, honey, and I believe cream cheese or something inside because they didn't have the fluff or caramel... Words can't describe the party that was going on in my mouth with the first bite. It was genius, the crust on the french toast is from frosted flakes that they coat it with... I highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.
This is a precious little Cafe’ with wonderful food and ambiance. I had the traditional French toast (& didn’t get a picture early enough) it was delicious and a full plate!! My husband had the 2 egg breakfast - a Full plate of food that was also very good! The service was fantastic!! Great place to eat!!
Amazing food and service! Portions are huge and well presented. Owner traveled with all the best 90’s rock bands as head caterer, and has all his backstage passes are on display. Definitely coming back!
Excellent atmosphere, great food with large portions, friendly service, unique wall deco, and 60's style special clothing and merchandise for purchase. Seating is limited. This is definitely a local favorite spot. Stay local, support out own! Service dogs welcome. Enjoy!
Great little place! We enjoyed the Stuffed French toast (strawberry) and the 2 egg with pancake breakfasts. They were excellent. Neither of us cared for the potatoes (seasoning), but they were cooked very well. The coffee was good. Service was great; very personable. The decor was vacationy & inviting. We’ll definitely come back again.
Just walking into the place you get great vibes. The host/ waiter had a cool vibe about himself. It was a weekday and it was about half full. So if its a weekend you'll need to get in early or just wait for a table. There is no real outside dining. Parking was ok. Now for the food. They have enough to satisfy vegans, the meat lovers and everyone in between. They have chicken apple sausage, turkey bacon And sausage. The orange juice taste freshly squeezed. I ordered the Rae special for the day and it was amazing. All in all, if you can get a table come here.
Very colorful place for breakfast in San Clemente. Small place. Need little wait at peak time. Good food good service with gluten free option. Clean bathroom.
WOW, what a hidden gem this place is!!! I wanted the perfect breakfast and I GOT IT HERE!!! The eggs were over easy perfectly, the potatoes had a great char on them mixed with grilled onions. The sausage was delicious - great flavor, sourdough toast, and some pico de gallo on top and endless cups of fresh hot coffee - this place is amazing you gottta come here. 1421 N El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672
Wonderful little cafe.. just darling with hand painted batik t-shirts hanging from the walls. Open for breakfast & lunch only. Superb brisket melt sandwich on challah, yummy lentil soup plus lots of other goodies on the menu for next time.. servers Nina & Jenny were both friendly & efficient & the chef deserves praise for a little cafe.

Wonderful and clean brunch place, plenty of excellent choices and beautiful flowers 💐 Super nice customer service My recommendation goes to the meatloaf sandwich, stuffed French toast and the avocado toast Try it!
Great food. Surprisingly reasonable prices. Middling service. But you can buy lovely batik t-shirts scattered around the cafe. Great spot for breakfast, esp on Sundays - they open at 8:00am - near the Casablanca Inn where we stayed. Highly recommended!
I ordered Cafe Rae for my team at work and was so blown away by how amazing everything tasted! The portion sizes were also great. I can’t wait to come back and am so happy we have such a gem in San Clemente.

Definitely try this place! Food was fantastic. My wife and I went on a friday morning and it wasn't too busy. I got the Rae Mexi breakfast bowl. My wife got a breakfast sandwich and we shared the strawberry stuffed French toast. The portion sizes were big and everything tasted great. The French toast wasn't too sweet either. In total we spent $50 and was well worth it. The atmosphere was a bit cramped and kinda thrown together but they're doing the best with the space they got. We will definitely be back.

Food is cooked on a cheap seed oil. Bread was fried on seed oil too. Do not recommend if you care of your health.
