Came on a Sunday evening as a party of 7. We ordered two cacio e pepe’s, two gnocchi’s, two focaccia’s (their signature dish), butternut squash salad, and brussel sprouts for seven girls and was the perfect amount of food. The brussel sprouts dish was my favorite and packed with flavor and textures. The focaccia di recco was also such a delightful sweet and savory combination. The pastas were each yummy but nothing mind blowing.
Great food! Pizza and focaccia were definitely different then the typical style. Really recommend this place for lunch.
Absolutely loved it. Hands down! Our waiter Alex was the sweetest, shout out to him for his amazing suggestions. The focaccia was to die for, strong recommend.
Great place to hang out. I've been there twice in just a few days for the happy hour. The first time we were out back - this is a more quiet area. The second time we were out front on the street. Both times were excellent. We had a few drinks and some appetizers. Reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.
Probably the best Italian food I have had in years. We ordered the focaccia with cow cheese and honey comb as a ppetizer and it was unique and delicious! I had the gnocchi with fennel sausage and my wife had the Bolognese. Both were terrific. Melt in your mouth homemade pasta... 5 stars!!. Will be back!
Davanti's focaccia with the goat cheese and honey is absolutely incredible and a must order every single time. The balance of the creamy cheese with a touch of sweetness if unforgettable. It has truly become a staple for us. The service is consistently pleasant, attentive, welcoming and on point from start to finish . Such a great spot for a relaxed dining experience.
A friend who lives in the area highly recommended Davanti, and it was a great choice. Even in January, we were able to sit outside comfortably thanks to the mild weather and a heater at the table. We ordered spritzes from the happy hour menu (pomegranate and elderberry), both light, crisp, and refreshing. I had the risotto carbonara, which was rich, creamy, and satisfying. Friendly service and a really enjoyable evening overall.
The focaccia is not what you expect when you hear the word but it is the best thing I've ever had. Ask for some extra honey. Burger is delicious, pasta is delicious - portions could be larger. Overall always enjoy my experience here.
I've been here before for a bachelorette party and it was amazing! Came back and sat at the bar with a friend and had some happy hour. Caccio a Pepe they even have gluten-free pasta you can substitute in which is delicious! I had a really good limoncello mojito (ask for extra mint!) my friend had the delicious looking tiramisu and giant Nonna's meatballs. There were a ton of people watching a football game while we were there. Very lively! Once they left it was a nice calm atmosphere. They also have a really beautiful patio in the back with lights and dogs are allowed. Next time I want to try the polenta with whipped mascarpone and ragu :) Would definitely recommend and come again!
We're always raving about your incredible food – it truly never disappoints! We all know parking can be a bit of a challenge around there, especially on a busy weekend, but what truly made our most recent visit memorable was the exceptional service we received. We dropped by late on a Saturday afternoon, and after a bit of a wait, we were honestly on the verge of heading out, feeling a little deflated. That's when Aaron, one of your fantastic team members, stepped in! He completely turned our experience around. He really listened to our concerns and went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of. Aaron was not only incredibly professional but also had such a warm, friendly, and approachable demeanor that instantly put us at ease. We're already planning our next visit and sincerely hope we'll be lucky enough to have Aaron look after us again! Seriously, if you're ever there, do yourself a huge favor and ask for him – we definitely will be!
My husband and I were recently there for their Sunday Mimosa bar. It was surprisingly better than expected! We received full glasses of Prosecco and then guided to the bar to add our goodies. We loved being able to add our own fruit & different juices. We also enjoyed a super delicious pizza! We were there early in the day so we weren't too hungry- which disappointed us because all the food looked amazing! Our waiter, Reggie, was super nice & made our visit! A definite MUST, when in San Diego!
Best Italian restaurant in little Italy! Our waiter was David S who knew the menu very well and every recommendation was spot on. Butter naught squash salad was the best salad I’ve ever had!!!!!!!!!! The cacio e Pepe wa good except the chicken was not as moist as I would expect. And they have 20% military discount!! WE WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK AND BEING OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
Also an affordable and cheap lunch spot. On weekdays there is a lunch menu with paninis and other lighter options. I ordered a delicious meatball sandwich with a refreshing salad, and was out of there quickly and for under $20. My only slight complaint would be service attentiveness, but the servers were so friendly. Davanti Enoteca is a solid dinner spot, and you should check it out for a weekday lunch also.
My friend’s recommendation for this place didn’t disappoint! In 2015 she and her husband had the focaccia di recco. Apparently a chef comes in every morning and makes the cheese with love. We ordered it and we’re not thrilled when it came out until we tasted it. Holy cow it is so delicate and absolutely perfect. I can’t tell you how delicious this dish was six of a split and we ordered extra honeycomb. We were licking the honey at the end. It was just all magical. The CARNE pizza was absolutely scrumptious as well as the mascarpone polenta with pork ragu. I normally would not have ordered the polenta and pork, but so glad I did. It felt like a grandma made it with all her wisdom. It was served table side in a couple different sauce pans onto an old cutting board. The chicken Caesar salad salad and pasta à la vodka were both also super delicious.
Ask for Alex! Amazing Food and Service. Had an awesome birthday dinner for my girlfriend here. The vibe is fantastic, but the real highlights were the food and our server, Alex. His recommendations were great – the ricotta in vodka sauce and the prosciutto pizza were both 10/10. Alex made sure we had a perfect evening. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!
Made a reservation about a week in advance for a Friday at 6:30 with 8 guests. Restaurant was fairly busy and did seem to have a wait at the door. Seated on the back patio - lovely art/murals and atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their dishes: -Focaccia with Honey (good) -Cacio e Pepe (good) -Carbonara Risotto (good) -Wedge Salad (fairly small) -Rigatoni Vodka (good) -Burger (delicious!) -Carajillo (decent)
The food at Davanti Enoteca Little Italy was authentic and oh, so delicious! For starters, you simply must try the "Fried Roman Artichokes," "Roasted Beets," "Arugula Salad," and the "Foccacia Di Recco" which is served with a drizzled of hot honey! The "Cacio E Pepe" was a delectable spagettini entree tossed with a good portion of fennel sausage in a light buttery sauce and a light dusting of paremesan! The passion fruit Spritzer was a refreshing beverage with my meal.
One of my wife's regulars at her bar in San Francisco recommended Davanti when he heard we were going to San Diego. The Focaccia was to DIE for. I wasn't expecting it to be anything special, but it was absolutely exquisite. Beef Carpaccio, Caprese Salad, and the Carne Pizza were all amazing. My wife ordered the Carpaccio and said it's one of the best she's had! FiL ordered a meatball sub and salad and was pleased. MiL ordered the Calamari, it was also pretty good.. though not spectacular. Overall great experience and very friendly and attentive service. 5 stars through and through. Came back a second time for the Focaccia and a Caprese Salad. Wonderful!! Happy Hour was great! Will absolutely be back to try the Davanti Burger.
If you’re looking for a fantastic spot for happy hour, this Italian restaurant is a must-try! They offer happy hour daily from 3 pm to 6 pm (excluding holidays), and the deals are hard to beat. The drink specials include $5 beers, $6 wines by the glass, and $9 gin or vodka martinis—perfect for anyone who loves a good dirty martini with blue cheese-stuffed olives, like I do! The happy hour food menu is equally impressive, featuring delicious options like the meatballs, Roman artichokes, pizza of the day, and the Davanti Burger. I’ve tried them all, and they’re all worth recommending. It’s a great spot for a casual hangout with excellent drinks and food to match. Highly recommend stopping by!

Food was SO good. The bruschetta is something I think about when I'm not eating it. Salad portions are huge and food is overall really fresh and tasty.

Highly recommend this amazing Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy! Delicious appetizers, drinks, entrees, and desserts. Make sure to make a reservation, especially for dinner.
Well positioned restaurant in Little Italy. Close to the popup market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The food was excellent: beef brisket and the pizza carne on a tin can. Too bad for the staff who starting talking to us when she was still walking behind us and second when she was looking over our shoulders to see how much tip she would get. Needless to say now she got none. Would still recommend eating at this place, but beware of this lazy waitress.
My husband and I went for appetizers and drinks, we had calamari fritti and meatballs, husband had beers and I had a Paloma and a Margarita, I like fresh drinks more than sweet then the Paloma was better for me. The meatballs were kind of cold by the time we got them, taste wasn’t bad but I like hot food hot, the calamari was good. The service was very good, Alex was very kind and the atmosphere was nice.
The best thing about our experience was the appetizers. Me and my ladies loved the calamari and the bread with 🍯. I ordered the Genovese which was delicious, but I ate so much calamari I could only take a few bites. My girls all loved their dishes as well. Our least favorite part of dinner was by far the drinks. I ordered the Paloma which was overpowered by bitters, that’s all I could taste. My ladies ordered mojitos and they also said they taste was way off. I tasted one of them and it tasted like toothpaste ugh. She sent it back and my friend and I just sucked it up and drink ours. When you want to have good food and good drinks during a night out and one of those is a miss, it completely throws things off. Maybe just check that the bartender from the night of 7/18 knows what they are doing, Quality&Assurance. Service was pretty good, however, a few more table checks would’ve been appreciated especially after receiving my drink. Overall, glad we got to explain new spot now on to the next. 🥂
