Fire burrito. Spicy, flavorful, large. 5 stars after the first bite. Muchacha burrito and killer horchata. Great price too.
The large quesadilla with beans and guacamole was tasty and more than enough food for lunch. Cost was reasonable at $8 and there was enough leftovers to take home for another snack. It is typically packed for lunch but the orders come out quick.
As a former California resident, judging other states' Mexican food has sort of become a hobby. But this place was the homecoming I was expecting. The food was hot, authentic, fresh, and delicious, and very reasonably priced. I grabbed a Horchata and it was life-giving.
Was in town for a conference and ate breakfast here 3 times. Chorizo torta is great
The food here was delicious! We had tried a couple other local breakfast spots in this area and wanted to try something different. So glad we stopped in! The machaco breakfast burrito and the chorizo breakfast burrito were delicious! The salsas really enhanced these authentic flavors. Definitely a hole in the wall to check out!
Delicious Mexican food! I eat here once a week and typically get a bean tostada and bean and cheese burrito. Been going four years and highly recommend it.
I’ve only been here once for they rolled tacos, and they were so good! You can taste the good quality beef and tortillas. They’re salsa is also so good and spicy. Only downside is that you pay $1 extra for each topping since they only come with cheese, but it’s still inexpensive.
I come here every single time I am in San Diego and I am always so relieved it is still open. It’s the first time I had a really good fish tacos and it’s still my favorite place to get them. I also really like their Horchata. It looks unassuming but don’t let the looks fool you. In San Diego a taco place doesn’t stay open unless it is legit and this place has been open a long time. I can’t speak for the other menu items but if you like fish tacos, go to Lucy’s!
I don’t live in San Diego but travel here for work periodically. This place has to have some of the best Mexican food ever. Tacos that remind of what my Mom used to make, authentic chile relleno and rice and beans that have flavor. Delicious!
Had Jury Duty and stopped for lunch here. Ordered the Cali Burrito with Guac! Great flavors and really good portion! I wanted to try the carne asada fries... we'll see if I order it tomorrow for lunch😁😁😁
Lucys is a great place for tasty Mexican street food in San Diego. I went for breakfast-the Machaca Burrito was tasty! They have Salsa Verde, but no coffee. I would definitely eat here again as the server was friendly, the food was served fast, and the flavors were the bomb!
Amazing hole-in-the-wall place with super tasty, affordably-priced food! One of my favorite meals I had in SD while I visited for a conference. I will definitely be heading back here again the next time I’m in the area. Only gripe is that the outdoor seating is very cramped. There is no indoor seating besides high chairs at a bar along the wall. Highly recommend this place, overall, though.
Massive breakfast burrito with great made from scratch components. I tried the Rancho and the combination of chorizo, eggs, potatos and salsa plus extra salsa roja were delicious.
Amazing Mexican home style food. This is where the workers come because it reminds them of home cooking and that’s why I keep Coming back! Chile relleno plate was the jam for me!
Great Mexican food all around. Smooth beans, flavorful rice. Two salsa to chose from , the red is a perfect companion and the green is super tangy and delicious. Very small shop with very big flavor.
I recommend this place if you love tacos. Expect big tacos. I am a big guy and i could barely finish 3 tacos. The carnitas tacos were amazing. The only negative I have to say is that they had ran out of fish and chicken, I don’t know if it is a common theme for them to run out of items but other than that the place is great.
Storefront Taco shop without pretensions. A simply excellent veggie burrito
Excellent food! Great service. Small and popular. Food did not fail to please. I always asked what happened to good Mexican food in San Diego? I thought it just skipped from the Border all the way to LA. I guess Lucy’s has finally brought good Mexican food to SD. Hand made tortillas. Great sauce. Burrito, tacos and other dishes were great! Prices are so good.
😲 Shockingly epic breakfast burrito. Crispy bacon, well seasoned beans and potatoes, cheese, and salsa with a great flavor AND kick, all at a great price. I'll be back. You should absolutely do brekkie here!
Absolutely the best Mexican food in San Diego
Loved this place! I had a super enjoyable plate of enchiladas and a delicious carne asada burrito! Great option for lunch! Good prices!

Been coming here for years after working downtown. Now live out of state but still make it a point to stop in when I’m in town. Their breakfast burritos, carne asada tacos and rolled tacos are my favorites. The red salsa is so tasty.
Best California Burito in the downtown area! The French fries are always cooked well and you always get that nice crispy feeling when biting into it. The women behind the counters are so friendly and helpful with the menu. Clean sitting area inside. All in all, one of my favorite spots for lunch in the area. Love this place!
We got into San Diego a little after lunchtime & needed a quick bite. Lucy's had a good rating & was due to close at 2. Being from San Diego but living in Texas for years, we were ready for some good California style Mexican food. We were not disappointed! The rolled tacos were perfectly crisp with delicious shredded beef, covered in lettuce, a mild Pico, guacamole & sour cream & cheese with a side of hot carrots. A delicious welcome back! I'm sorry I didn't get pics. Delicious!!

Ordered the breakfast burrito with avocado, mushrooms and chicken sausage. The buritto comes with eggs and hash browns in a large flour tortilla. It was very good even with it having to last through the end of my run, me cleaning up and driving to work. Was not the best I've ever had but I would definitely give it another shot when it won't have to wait so long to be eaten.
A good place to get an early morning burrito in downtown SD. The burrito is very large. The tortilla tasted like it was freshly made. Their jorchata was very good. Light without a lot of the sediments at the bottom of the cup. Prices are great!!
What a nice surprise hiding in downtown. I Was at the federal building and needed a quick lunch within waking distance and this place hit the mark. I had the Carne Asada plate and there was too much food. A little short on guacamole, but what Mexican food joint isn't short there. Maybe it's just me I love it. Great food.
Yummy huevos rancheros!! Fresh homemade corn tortillas! Great service BUUUUT the place was dirty and grimy.... I definitely think this place would rock if it had a good scrub down!
This place has great food! There isn't really any parking nearby, but it's worth parking and walking to. All the food is freshly prepared when you order. Prices are reasonable. Lots of beverages from which to choose.
I've been here a couple of times. The carne asada tacos cost $5.99, are huge, made with double corn tortilla, guacamole and pico de gallo, didn't find them tasty, also tried it with the available red and green salsas, but it didn't help. The milanesa torta was good, and tasted better with the salsas. The horchata water was good/ok. The cashier/server is nice and adequate. Place does not look appealing either inside or out. Great location, for the convenience of people at Civic Center, for which I'll continue to check it out every once in a while and try something else.
Lucy’s Taco Shop is located downtown on C Street a couple of blocks away from the San Diego Superior Court so it’s a perfect spot if you have jury duty. It’s a colorfully decorated business with a typical Mexican food menu. A lot of people take their food to go. The counter service was friendly and quick. I ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla which, while not the best I’ve had in San Diego, was pretty good. It’s a solid choice if you are in the area for any reason. There isn’t any parking available so it seems like most of the customers are working downtown or walking over from the trolley.

The breakfast burrito was mid at best. So bland and lacking any bacon. Flavorless but it’s a big sized burrito. I’d rather have a flavorful and tasty small burrito.
The tacos are disgusting. The meat was chewy like dog food. They did not have a salsa bar and tried to charge me $3 for pickled jalapeños. Also two simple meat tacos cost $12. Music was also obnoxious and staff were not friendly. A bad experience and I’m currently sick to my stomach.
Service was good but by the time I got home, I realized some of my order was missing from the bag. I obviously should have checked before I left the restaurant. When I did get home and eat the food, the tacos were not the ones I ordered (asked for carnitas but appears I got chicken) were very dry and lacking in flavor. My friend got the bean and cheese burrito which she enjoyed but said it was also bland. Maybe I got the wrong bag but the lady called my name & repeated what was in the bag….
Got 3 rolled tacos today. Only cheese comes on it. Saddest looking thing I’ve ever eaten. Asked for lettuce and they wanted to charge $1.50. What a joke. They need to learn to do little add ons for free, or for a decent, reasonable fee. They really need to work on customer service for all of us local employees willing to come to them a couple times a week.
Ate lunch here since I had jury duty and it's right up the street. I guess the burrito was decent but I'm spoiled by eating at Armando's where there burritos are twice the size and over $3 cheaper. Wasn't horrible but nothing special at all. Wasn't worth the $12 I had to pay for it. 🤷🏻♂️

Prices are wayyy too high and quality is good but not the best. Spent $20 on a small burrito and water 🤔🤷♀️🥴
No good got charged extra for a plain burrito. And they dont have changed so had to use my card and get charged for using it.
I work downtown and have been here twice for lunch. I have ordered the beef taco and the cantinas burrito. Both meals were literally charcoal burnt to a crisp meet. I would not feed their food to my dog. I gave it 1 star because there is not an option for a 0.
I’ve been to Lucy in downtown San Diego a few times now, and overall, it’s been hit or miss. The only thing they consistently get right are the rolled tacos — those are actually pretty good. But everything else I’ve tried has been disappointing. Most recently, I had a breakfast burrito, and the fries inside were soggy, greasy, and just not cooked well at all. I get that there’s egg in a breakfast burrito, but the fries still shouldn’t be that mushy and limp. It really dragged down the whole meal. Also had the carne asada before, and it was super chewy with a ton of gristle — not enjoyable. I’ve given this place a few chances, but outside of the rolled tacos, the quality just isn’t there.
U have to pay for rolled tacos and every single topping 💀
