Surprisingly good! I'd been looking for a close sushi restaurant for over a year, and have been constantly disappointed. This is the first place that didn't charge an arm and a leg, and had pretty decent quality! I didn't try their more traditional sushi, ad the chef specials were a pretty good deal and I wants to see how their take on rolls. Enjoyed every bite!

Good spot for sushi in Carmel Valley!! They have daily specials on sushi, as well as happy hour M-T from open until 4:30pm. They have a variety of apps as well, and they also serve alcohol

4.5 if I could split my stars. While it was really good and the kids and I all enjoyed it; it wasn’t the best sushi I’ve had (good, not best). Also depending on your preferences, this may or may not bother you but it seemed like the rolls either didn’t have veggies or they just had one veggie. We typically put 2-3 veggies in ours. But again that may be a plus or minus for you. Service was also pushing me toward a five, they were very nice. And the price was reasonable as well (for sushi).

Beautiful decor, lovely wait staff and delicious food. Sushi and Ramen, so so good. Ordered the chicken ramen and they were happy to make it spicy. Nice big bowl, lots of broth. We shared rolls and ramen. Cute date place!

The place is really great! Mostly like cause of the taste and quality of food. Sushi are amazing! Had to compare with a few other places after moved to San Diego and Kyodai is my favorite sushi place by far. If you are like sushi with cream cheese would highly recommend Crazy, Crunch Philly, Smoky Salmon (awesome one) and simple but tasty Philadelphia roll. All of them are really tasty, descent size and fresh sushi. Personnel working at this place is always welcoming, no delays or any kind of hitches.

its a great place for lunch with great service 😌. the sushi is decent, not super special but still really good for a quick bite especially if you are a local. I would recommend getting the salmon lover roll. Bento boxes are really great and so are the poke bowls. Tempura and karaage were great 😋

Was so freaking good I ate here on my lunch break and came back once I was off 😂 might be dangerous that I've found this place! It's sooooo good. Great atmosphere, super nice staff, presentation of food is wonderful. They have a half off menu on some chef special rolls right now, I got the Sunflower which was spectacular! But I LOVE their gyozas!!

Huge selection of sushi, roll, specialty, and sashimi dishes. Excellent preparation. Very attentive staff. Plenty of options for all ages. This was absolutely delicious. Real red bean based desserts. Tempura overall, mochi, and macaroons. Sapporo and Kirin beers. Definitely recommend.

My husband and daughter love the Star Wars roll, my favorite is the Playboy roll. My other kids love the udon and also the pork katsu. 10/10!

We went in the afternoon, and it wasn’t too crowded, which made for a relaxed lunch. The food was excellent — we tried the Chicken Katsu combo, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The sushi rolls — Dewy, Grass, and Friday — were all outstanding, fresh, and beautifully presented. For appetizers, we had the chicken karaage, which was crispy on the outside and juicy inside — a perfect start to the meal. Overall, great quality food, generous portions, and definitely worth the money.

It comes with a side of rice, house salad, and miso soup. It's such a great deal for a great lunch. Next time, I'll have to stop for dinner. Thanks. Update: Oysters are on POINT. Fresh live oysters. Done proper. Do yourself a favor and get some. You won't regret it.

While the salmon skin salad was above average, the protein roll was very soft in texture, and the tamago (egg) had no egg flavor. Decent sushi restaurant though you should be aware that a large screen played Fox News throughout our meal.

Before that they serve you hot miso soup. Then everything comes nicely organized in a tray. My husband eats there often with his co-workers; today he ordered a Chirashi Bowl, one of his favorites which includes a miso soup and salad. We both had strawberry lemonades. The food is tasty, fresh and affordable, with just the right amount of seasons and spices. Because some Japanese restaurants overdo on these ingredients you end up not tasting anything. We had the owner Jane serving us today. She's very kind and efficient. Also the employees' uniforms are clean and look presentable. The parking lot has small spaces and fills up quickly during lunch. But there's a large Home Depot parking lot connected to it and it's easier to find parking there. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food is 4/5 Service 5/5 We had the sunflower and baked sushi as well as dinner entree of grilled beef. It came with miso soup and salad. My initial purpose of coming here was for a bento box unfortunately when we came the lady said the closet they have for bento is the dinner menu.

Sushi quality is alright. Service is good. Overall experience so so. There are better choices out there in same price range.
