tucked in-between the "hey look at me" restaurants, you might pause, like we did, and question "is this the right place?" the answer is a resounding YES. The food was amazing. easily the best burrito I've ever had (shrimp). the elote fries were tremendous. salsas super tasty. if i didn't live 2,500 miles away, this would be a regular stop for me. don't hesitate. go. go now.
This California burrito was worth the 16 bucks. The meat was good quality and marinated perfectly. The tortilla was delicious. The pico was also really good and I usually prefer it on the side. The green salsa was great. The red salsa was ok. I did not like the creamy red looking sauce.
Delicious! Was visiting from Texas and we went back here 3 separate times on our trip. I got the adobada, carne asada, and birria tacos. My favorite was the adobada. They have a self serve salsa bar and you can see them make your tacos at the bar seating. Perfect for late night munchies! Reasonable pricing.
Food=5 ⭐️ Prices=5 ⭐️ Location=5 ⭐️ Yes, there are taco places ALL over San Diego! Yes, there are 3 just on this block. We chose El Cabron after looking at the other menus and found this place had a great variety, great prices, and they had an incredible looking Michalada! We walked here from the Marriott Marquis. It took about 10 minutes. I ordered the shrimp taco and fish taco, the elote in a cup, and chips and guacamole. My husband ordered the surf and turf taco and the pulpo taco, as well as a Michalada. The Michalada was pretty spicy, but my husband finished it all and really enjoyed it. The tacos were perfect! The elote and guacamole were lacking in flavor. Perhaps if I had ordered the elote on the cob it would have tasted better? But the corn in the cup was very big, almost like hominy, and it was too watered down. We tried several of the salsas and they were all delicious. The prices were great! We paid $37 for everything. There was leftover guacamole, but again, it was bland, so not really worth finishing. I still give this place 5 stars and would return and try the elote on the cob and some other dishes.
The surf and turf taco was my favorite as their carne asada is excellent and shrimp was juicy, not overcooked. Also enjoyed the adobada but the best part is the green and red hot sauces. They were the perfect compliment to the tacos, not too hot but just enough fire and very flavorful. Great outdoor seating with a curbside expansion. Might go back in for more surf and turf.
I love tacos, especially when they are authentic, delicious, and accompanied by a variety of fabulous salsas. Luckily, Tacos el Cabrón serves up all of the above. I loved the adobada pork and the baja fish tacos, but the birria was also good, and all the salsas were great, from the punishing habanero and cabrona to the relatively tame adobada and chipotle. The churros served as a satisfying end to the meal, with a side of chocolate dip. This place is very clean and nice, with no fancy frills or table service aside from staff bringing the food out to you. Great spot for a simple taco-centric meal.

I was in San Diego for a convention and ordered Tacos El Cabron through Door Dash. I had the Elote (mexican street corn) which was spicy and delicious, and I also ordered a fish taco and churros for…
Got carne asada, pork tacos, and guacamole with chips. The chips were great, but too much for just one person (if also getting 3 tacos). The guac was ok - not bad/not amazing. Pork was my favorite taco (it was basically tacos Al pastor). The steak tacos were good if a tiny bit over-salted.
The food here is amazing and tastes very authentic! The service was awesome! The hostess/cashier offered us free drinks because our wait was so long, (only felt about 20 minutes and we did come in with a rush of people) which she did not have to do. We were happy to wait and the wait was worth it! I ordered a carne asada taco and tried to order the elote corn fries because they looked delicious, but was told that they didn't have them, so on the fly, I ordered the shrimp fries and they were the best fries I ever had. The were so good and seasoned perfectly! The carne asada was delicious I didn't want to share half with my wife! 10/10, would recommend
For a taco shop this place is pretty good. I had a bacon breakfast taco and a fish taco. The breakfast taco was delicious. Solid mix of flavors and cooked well. Fish taco also had a decent mix of flavors, even if the fish wasn't of the highest quality but it's a taco shop not a fine dining restaurant. It was cooked perfectly though and not breaded. The outdoor area on the street was nice if a little rundown but that's typical of the area. Hard to keep patio areas pristine. Prices are just ok, a little high, but not out of the average at all compared to other places in the area. Decent portion size on the tacos. Would definitely recommend. Staff was extremely friendly.
We dined there around 3 PM on a weekday. Two tacos, one beef fries. Everything was tasty! Especially the shrimp taco was incredibly delicious! Just the right level of spiciness. We were almost the only guests and sat outside. Service was okay, not overly enthusiastic but friendly. The staff seemed a bit rushed. The atmosphere was mediocre. The outdoor area was unexciting, plain. Metal tables, no decoration, slightly unkempt. But okay. Cozy, however, is something different.
Good tacos, but they were having a little trouble keeping up with the crowd. I give them credit for having been there at a busy time, but the salsa bar was unstocked, and the service line took what seemed like a lot longer than it needed to. Still, I'd go again, and as I said they were getting slammed at the time, so no major complaints.

We tried a couple different types of tacos while in the area. Outside seating pretty basic, but tacos were tasty. We tried chicken, beef, and shrimp, and pork.

Confession: I tend to take TripAdvisor ratings seriously. This sums up my experience. The tacos were OK. Can’t expect service given the menu rates. I prefer to not say anything more.

Called Azul now even though it still says tacos el cabron on the outside. Overall, for the price not bad. I got 2 tacos and with tip it came out to be less than $6 Food: decent tacos with all the toppings, the Al pastor was a bit too charred so took away from the flavor. They have a salsa bar with only 2 salsa options Service: quick and efficient
California Burrito Ratings (14th Stop): Tacos El Cabron Embarking on a mission to rank SD's iconic California burritos! The Product: This burrito stands out for its heavy dose of greens and grilled meat—super charred, which I personally vibe with. It’s hefty; couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Price tag? Around $16, which is above SD’s average. Flavor didn’t quite match the cost. 5 out of 10. The Service: Casual interaction. The girl at the counter seemed glued to her phone most of the time. 3 out of 10. The Vibe: The decor has cool elements that could set a great atmosphere, but the overall vibe felt a bit neglected. 7 out of 10.
Went here recently because I’m currently trying all the Al Pastor Burritos in the Neighborhood. I went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty. Everywhere else was busy. Two ladies were working and the place was not that clean. I ordered and actually waited a long time for some reason and I was the only customer. The Salsa Bar was not clean. The burrito was actually terrible and basically mostly full of dried rice.. I’ve been going here for years and can tell there has been a drop in the level of food and the service speed. The owner needs to check on this. I’ll be back in a few months.. maybe and hopefully they will step it up. (I’ve always liked their Tacos)
This place is really good, however every time on Apple Maps they say they're "open" and I walk all the way over to their restaurant just to see them closed. Then I am forced to go over to the Mexican…

I had a burrito & it was cold. I don't think I would try it again. \n\nIn my group they got the order wrong twice and the tacos were cold as well.
Extremely slow. Ordered my food waited an hour and never received it. Got a refund and left. Not worth the wait.
I ordered to pick up online and then I arrived they said it wasn't ready, which is fine. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes to get my order when I looked at it I ordered birrria and carne asada ta…
