We were looking for a nice, light salad, and this place won our hearts and stomachs. Perfectly balanced flavors, not overly dressed, and the chicken and lamb were well cooked. The juicy potatoes were also delicious. 17$/salad and 5$/side. Very good!
I haven’t tried any of their food items yet, so this review is just about their frozen Greek yogurt, but it’s amazing. I especially love the one with honey. There’s something about the sweet, cold honey paired with the tangy, tart yogurt that just works perfectly. The texture is incredibly smooth, making each bite a delight. It’s the perfect little dessert after a heavy meal, the tartness cuts through the richness and helps wake me up from a food coma. Definitely a go-to spot if you’re looking for a refreshing, satisfying treat.
Souvla is one of my two favorite spots for lunch in the Mission. It has great Greek food as sandwich or salad. Actually my favorites are the avgolemeno soup, that unique Greek invention of chicken soup with lemon. And then for dessert frozen Greek yogurt with olive oil and salt! The sweet and salt tanginess is perfect
Delicious food and friendly service! We tried the chicken, lamb, and vegetable wrap which was all so good! Limited seating area (it's popular so there was a ~10 min wait time) but so worth it! Greek fries were delicious too, I want to come again to try the frozen Greek yogurt next time!
Love their frozen yogurt, not too sweet, has the original notes of sour yogurt, and has a slight bite. Chicken salad is great, a little little pricey
Saw this place on our way to dandelion and I'd remembered hearing about their food, so walked in. Was a little crowded at around 7:30PM on a Saturday, but we were able to find "bar" seating (they don't have a bar, but these bar stools next to the wall). You order at the front and then find seating, by the way. Got the chicken sandwich, and the frozen Greek yogurt with baklava crumbles. The chicken sandwich was very good! They fill it with meat, and the whole combo of meat and veggies and sauces tasted yum. The yogurt was just okay though - I didn't think particularly highly of the baklava crumbles, even though they give you a lot in your cup. Food comes out quick. Folks working there are friendly. Good stuff overall.
We got both the pork wrap and the veggie wrap. Both were very good, but surprisingly we both enjoyed the veggie wrap more. The flavors were more complex and tasted more Greek. It’s not a very authentic Greek experience, but it’s still very enjoyable. The yogurt is also delicious & sour.
really good souvlaki, big chunks of meat and great toppings, pickled onions were perfect!
Yummy quick Greek spot in the city. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Perfect for a lunch or easy dinner. So fresh and healthy
Visited SF for a weekend and came here twice! That’s how much I love this place. During my first visit, I ordered just the baklava crumbles fro-yo. Simply amazing. The Greek yogurt fro-yo wasn’t too sweet and paired well with the massive amount of baklava I got! I ordered the sour cherry one during my second visit and would try combining the two during my inevitable next visit. For lunch, I ordered the chicken salad Greek style (fries on top) and it was very filling! I asked for dressing on the side and didn’t think the salad needed much. The fries also didn’t seem too unhealthy lol? This is my ideal salad; I’d take this over sweetgreen any day. Thank goodness I don’t live around here because it would be incredibly dangerous for my wallet.
Super friendly and attentive service. Answered a million questions and flexible with menu items. Delicious salads, the roasted sweet potato with walnut is my favorite but if like lamb, go for that one! The soup can be a bit salty. The frozen yogurt is a petfect dessert! Atmosphere is upscale for order at the counter spot. Clean and pleasant. Will go back!
Lamb Sandwich, great lamb meat yogurt, cucumber and ralish giro style sandwich worth the try. Bear the oil that comes with it, it made my pants a mess. Veggie Salad bowl, olives, kale, lettuce, nuts, greek yogurt and sweet potato make this salad a great choice for a kinda healthy option. Blue Mak Greek beer, refreshing pale ale beer good to combine with the dishes.
I was looking for a place to eat and it was getting late like around 8 o’clock on a weekday so we went to go to get Thai food, but they rejected us. They told us we can only take the food to go and we never have time to eat so we were very upset, but we walked down and found Souvla! Knowing they were closing in 40 minutes, they were still very nice and welcoming. They allow us to sit down and just notified us that they were going to close soon. We honestly don’t take long to eat maybe 15 minutes or so and we just needed some time to eat so I would really appreciate the fact that they gave us a time that atmosphere was great. The customer service was five out of five I will definitely recommend coming back. The restaurant is a little pricey, but it’s definitely a different type of flavor and you get to enjoy the american-Mediterranean culture. If you’re a fan of Greek ice cream, you would love the desserts!
My wife and I have been regularly eating here for ~10 years. We absolutely love it and is our “go-to” spot whenever we don’t want to cook and want something consistently satisfying. We also enjoy treating ourselves to their yogurt with baklava.
I’ve been here a few times already and I’m not sure why I haven’t left a review before but… Everything is really good (as always) here! I try to limit myself to three or four items when I go so I have something new to try next time. Most recent visit today I had the frittata sandwich for the first time and I really have been missing out! So good. Didn’t think milk bread would make such a difference, but such a good balance with the savory components of the sandwich! I also got a seasonal sweet pain suisse and kouign amann, which are currently sitting on my counter and it’s taking a lot of self-restraint to not eat them all in one sitting. Excited to visit again soon!
Been a fan for over a decade and their quality and standards are still top notch. Delicious pastries, plates, coffee and drinks. I can't recommend this place enough, and the Rebel Within with the soft boiled egg is still a game-changer to this day. I'm shocked no other bakery or cafe has tried their own version.
My friend and I are in town for Outside Lands and heard about this bakery so we checked it out for breakfast. We got the biscuits and gravy, yogurt bowl, & rebel muffin. The rebel muffin led me to the 5 stars it was so soft and flavorful. The yogurt bowl had homemade granola which added a great crunch. The biscuits and gravy were yummy just a lot of mushrooms in gravy fyi. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cute & yummy bakery on your weekend brunch.
Craftsman and Wolves has a beautiful storefront, chill ambiance, great coffee, and impeccable pastries. When I regained the ability to digest lactose again, this bakery was the first I turned to and have continued to do so. They make the fiddly and intricately flavored entremets that an average American might not realize that their life has been missing. Your life is not yet complete if you've not tried any or all of the entremets. Their triple chocolate croissant is absolutely lovely. The tiramichoux is superb. The rebel within scotch eggs are yummy, filling, and were safe for me back when I was limiting my dairy intake to just hard cheeses. The Budino bar is one of the loveliest desserts I've ever had.
I'm still trying to figure out how they get the eggs inside the muffins. They must have failed 100 times before they got the technique right. It's pretty crazy. Anyway, the egg muffins are a novelty but everything else is probably better. The coffee is great, the French pastries are beautiful and delicious, and the croissants and related baked goods are made with care. The interior is well appointed and the staff all seem laid back. I gather that this location has been open a while; it's places like this that have paved the way for more establishments like this to become mainstream. I'm glad to see this one is still thriving because they are serving high quality food and drink.
A MUST TRY!!! From the double chocolate croissant, the rebel within muffin, the seasonal harvest pastry, + pastrami sandwich….. all of it was winners. The coffee and matcha were delicious as well and a great pairing to some great pastries. On the pricier end sure but well worth it for the fine craftsmanship of all of their pastry items. Not a lot of seating within the restaurant but people cycle in and out so you do have a shot at a seat regardless. Don’t feel pressured to just choose anything, the employees were willing to answer questions and tell you about their favorites. So excited for my next trip back.
Tl;dr: The baked goods and coffee are great, but the CAW team is even better! Craftsman and Wolves is both my favorite neighborhood coffee spot AND the place I take visiting friends to impress them with baked treats. Their pastry is beautiful, inventively flavored, and always delicious. I’m particularly fond of seasonal cake specials. I’m also so grateful to the entire staff who are warm, funny, inclusive, and just an overall joy to be around.
This café is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a calm and pleasant spot in San Francisco. The coffee is top-notch, with a well-balanced flavor, and the pastries, especially the muffin, stand out for their soft texture and delicious taste without being too sweet. The atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for spending some time, and the staff is super friendly, which makes the experience even better. It’s definitely become one of my favorite cafés in the city. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a cozy place to enjoy a good drink and pastry.
Wonderful Greek yogurt! I love their olive oil flavor however this baklava one didn’t hit the spot for me. The baklava topping was very soft and too mushy for my taste I was hoping for something crispier.
Two of us came for lunch. The service was fast and we got outside seating right away. While the menus is classic the execution is more fusion than Greek. We got the grilled chicken sandwich. The wrap came with a little bit of vegetable and even an orange but the chicken was cut so fine and dressed so heavily it was more like a chicken salad sandwich than a classic Greek dish. It was tasty just not what I was expecting. The fries were fine. Portions are good but it’s an Al a cart menu so order your sides accordingly. This is a order at the counter style service. Makes for a good fast lunch.
Delicious food, friendly staff. Chicken sandwich and salad were fresh and tasty. Keep the sandwich in it's wrap, it is juicy. No fault of the restaurant. I ended up wearing some home! Nice flavor and sauce. Very light. I tried a cola drink. Real cane sugar but very small size. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Great for a casual lunch or a meeting with friends! Not too loud and feels welcoming inside. Order at the counter and get a number. That's the 4 vs 5 star difference.
Affordable and tasty, fast casual Greek cuisine. Choose a wrap or a salad and your choice of protein. Very excited about the new black bean, plant-based lamb substitute. It’s not traditional, but it’s definitely delicious. The texture is perfect and when dressed with yogurt, pickled onions, and more, it definitely holds its own against the lamb, pork, or chicken. The kale salad is also excellent. Fries are standard fare, have had better at Ayola downtown.
I’ve had this place on my bucket list for months, and finally went in today for the famous rebel within. It was…just good! I don’t know what I expected — so maybe I am not doing the place justice because I overhyped it in my head — but the muffin was just okay. I wish it had a bigger contrast: crispier outside fluffier inside. Flavour was mild, but the pink salt helped A LOT. Happy I tried it, not something I would crave again. The place itself is lovely, the staff was kind, and all the other pastry items looked delicious!
Awesome bakery. Definitely coming back to try out their other pastries. Got the yuzu egg salad sandwich. The meal was surprisingly light, a great way to start the day. The croissant was incredibly flaky and the egg salad filling was delicious with just the right amount of kick. Friendly employees and very fast service. Highly recommend coming here!
It was good! Flavors are very fresh. But somehow feels like something I could make at home. That’s the reason for the three stars. I did really appreciate the ambience. It’s rare to find a counter-serve fast-casual restaurant that doesn’t feel like it’s designed to get you in and out. Here I felt like I could sit down and stay a while. Candles at each table are a nice touch.
Came to try this modern take on Greek food, but we left disappointed. The salads were overwhelmed with raw kale, the oranges tasted past their prime, and the chicken was stale and flavorless. Overall, the food felt old and underwhelming. For the price, it doesn’t live up to the hype. On top of that, being prompted for a 20% tip for counter service didn’t sit right. We won’t be returning.
I ordered the upper crust sandwich from craftsman and wolves several weeks ago. The flavor was ok, though heavily sauced in pesto. Unfortunately, the sandwich had only two slices of prosciutto, each of which were about 90% fat. Because of that, the slices weren’t edible (it’s hard to chew through cold fat). You can see how much fat was left over below. I re-ordered to give them a second chance and made a comment politely asking to please pay attention to the quality of meat as the sandwich itself is $20. The order went through, but was canceled after they saw my comment. I work in the service industry and I understand there’s bad days, but to me this is unacceptable. The cost of everything is rising, but $20 for bread, pesto, and fat seems unreasonable. EDIT: To the response that I received on this posting: With all due respect, the reason I was given as to why my order was canceled specifically cited that my request could not be accommodated. The request I made only asked that the business please pay closer attention to the quality of the items on the sandwich. I did not make up this review. And yes, as someone in the service industry I understand everyone operates by a certain set of standards, but mistakes do happen. The image of the photo you see below constituted 85%-90% of the prosciutto that was provided. If you look at the quantity of the excess fat in the photo below, that seems to be pretty obvious. You can check my previous reviews (though I realize most of them have been on yelp) - pretty much all of them are five stars. I rarely give poor reviews and it’s not something I feel good about doing. It’s not the pricing of the sandwich that was disappointing. It was the quality of what I received. I wish I could say this was my mistake, but it was not. If there’s another means by which you prefer I contact you and let you know personally so you can understand that this review is not made carelessly, I would be happy to do so.
The worst bakery in town I guest. every thing taste like over night. The chocolate croissant is nasty, cold and sticky but hard, the inside filling of the chocolate is not fresh and hard like a rock! Like chewing Chocolate chips, it is totally separate from the croissant. The Kouign Amann here is a joke. Trader Joe's puff pastry work better then it. It is cold and hard and not crispy at all, greasy, oily but tasteless. Like using so what cheap or fake butter. They are famous for the egg muffin but it is out...but base on other bread quality, i doubt it will be good... Will never come back.
