October '24- My favorite here is Tandoori chicken leg with their mint chutney. Can't go wrong with that. The lamb and chicken seekh kebabs are also good. September '23- Perfect for appetizers!! Really tasty food because it's prepared in coal oven/tandoor. All Tandoori items are absolutely recommended and one of the best I've had in Indian restaurants in the US. No need to go anywhere else. Lamb chops take 20 min to prepare. Tandoori chicken is very tender! The mint chutney is really really good (don't overeat that though). The only thing I regret is they don't make seekh kabab rolls with roomali roti (very thin roti) and they have everything to make those rolls. Tandoori roti was also perfect. Samosas were perfect here. Exactly how they should be. I ordered goat curry here but it wasn't that tasty, so try curries at your risk. They have a few tables outside where you can sit. Also, one of the staff here is from Delhi and he has a lot of experience working with real North Indian style food, so you can say Hi to him if you're from Delhi. This isn't a fast food place, so you have to wait for your food, specially all tandoori items take minimum 15 minutes to perfectly cook, so please be patient as they won't hurry for you. Parking is a little difficult here but you will find on the street in the same block or around it. It's worth waiting for parking to eat at this place.
This spot is definitely the best in the city yes and I stand on that. Try the chicken seekh kebab, chicken tikka masala, tandoori fish, garlic naan, keema naan, keema briyani, it’s a must! If you have room for more try lamb chops the spices they put it’s unique from the owner whom work in the restaurants over 25+ years
Curry leaf always hits the spot. We’ve lived in the city for a few months now and curry leaf has become our go to takeout spot. Their tandoori chicken breast, naan, and lamb shank nihari are to die for. They also have rotating dishes on the menu that are always very creative and equally delicious.
Enjoyed indo Pakistani food at curry leaf restaurant. Noon bread is too dry may need some improvement . Curry’s and starters are great .
Food was good and the service was exceptional. The staff truly went above and beyond. My sister was fasting and they kindly offered a fruit bowl when requested even though it was not part of the menu. Great customer service and reasonable price!
I had an absolutely delightful experience at Curry Leaf! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, providing excellent suggestions for dishes that perfectly suited my taste buds. The food was flavorful and aromatic, though it leaned a little towards the spicy side. However, upon my request, they happily prepared a non-spicy version that was just as delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant for its warm hospitality and mouthwatering Indian cuisine. Can't wait to visit again! The garlic naan is amazing.
Always busy with locals (a great sign), we ate here TWICE during our visit (that says everything). One of the best Indian restaurants we've had, and we try to find a spot everywhere we travel! Great naan bread, great tikka masala, great tandoori chicken, great mango lassi, great pakora, and great dips. Seriously, all great!!!
Absolutely flavorful Indian food right at walkable distance from Ghirardelli factory. The chicken kebabs were tender and juicy and hands-down one the best ones I've eaten. We also ordered other vegetarian dishes like biryani and eggplant bharta which were equally flavorful. Only downside is limited seating.
The best Indian food in San Francisco, hands down! The best food I have ever tasted. It's a nice place, the cable car also passes by. You order your food at the counter and take a number to your seat. The restaurant is self serve with getting your own water, sauces, napkins and cutlery. They do bring the food to your table and clean up after. Restaurant is clean but bathroom could be a bit cleaner. As for the food, it was DELICIOUS!! Ordered the lamb biryani, Karahi chicken, a side of white rice and keema naan. The food is tasty and authentic to its cuisine. Portion sizes are good for two to three people. Prices are reasonable for food quantity. One of the best I have had in a long time. But I am going to warn you, be aware of parking. THERE IS NEVER PARKING But at the same time its San Francisco so never mind. Highly recommend and will not be my last. I recommend their Chicken Seekh kebab, Lamb Seekh Kebab, Mix pakora, and Tandoori Fish. Also their mint chutney is soooo gooood.

Kind staff, amazing prices, and the best Indian food in SF.\n\nLove the chicken tiki, palak paneer, keema nan, and chana marsala.

11/10 food is not good looking but tastes amazing. Nice and clean place, great pricing, amazing value. Can recommend anything really, spent 50$ for dinner for 2 and had leftovers.
Outstanding food. Really friendly staff. Lovely vibe. Good price. As visitors from the UK we dropped onto this place by chance and so glad we did.

I am going with a solid 4-star rating. The ambience, service, and overall food quality were impressive. Their appetizers and curries were flavorful and well-prepared. However, I had to deduct one star due to the biryani, which didn’t quite meet expectations—it lacked the depth and richness of flavor I was hoping for.
Walked in on a Sunday morning around 11:30am to satisfy a lamb/Indian food craving. Order at the counter, pay, take a number and wait for your food to be cooked. In my case, my wait for basmati rice, lamb curry, and potato naan was about 8-10 minutes. I had forgotten how long the rice grains are. They’re almost like mini noodles. The curry was delicious, with just enough spice for me (not too spicy, not too hot) and plentiful pieces of well-cooked, very tender, not-so-gamey lamb. The potato naan came out finger-meltingly piping hot and was cut in half which I appreciated. I brought about half of everything back home (doggy bag boxes on the shelf at the back wall), which means a curry, a rice and a naan is about two meals for me. With that in mind, a grand total of $24 was rather fair value for a meal (two meals actually) in SF. Service was friendly and warm. Would like to try their house special beef curry next time.
Overall a good choice for Indian food. Service is good and food is good too. The menu is not huge but you can find several choices. I tried a little of everything we ordered: veggie samosas, lamb, chicken, cheese nan. I do not give them 5 stars for one reason: everything in the menu is spicy without the possibility to order a mild food. Many other restaurant offer the choice to pick the level of spice (1 to 10). I asked the gentleman at the cashier if it was possible to order any dish from the menu without spices (mild food) but he said it was not possible. I did my best to finish my dish but it was too spicy for me. Despite this concern it was a good experience to eat in this restaurant.
It was our first time trying this place. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Their masala chai was good just what I needed that time. We tried chicken biriyani and masala dosa. Chicken biriyani was very flavorful. Masala dosa was kinda dry from outside, better when paired with their green and tamarind sauces.

The veg pakoras aren't vegetables dipped in batter. It's something they claim is ground vegetables into a paste that they fry. Mango lassi was bright orange but tasted ok. \n\nDidn't try anything…
Delicious food. Nice eating area. Prompt service. Only real minus - naan is super chewy & pale. It takes away from the meal. Can use some toasti-ness & maybe lighter dough?
Quick and near our office. Convenient for our monthly group lunches.\nEveryone enjoyed their orders, and good amount for the price, too.
Great tasting food and really cheap. We ordered the chicken tikka, naan, rice and chicken biryani.
Staff is good and friendly that is the biggest positive of this place, everything else is just forgettable. Average food taste, old tables and felt unhygienic. Food was not fresh and barely tasty. Have never seen orange colored mango lassi (they put food color), even my tongue after having it didnt lie. Would not recommend and dont want to visit again specially when you have good/better options around
While personal tastes vary, my experience with Indian food at curry leaf fell short of expectations. The flavors lacked depth, and the dishes seemed to lack authenticity. The service, though polite, couldn't compensate for the underwhelming culinary experience. I regret to say that based on my visit, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to others seeking a satisfying Indian dining experience.
This is the first restaurant we visited during our 1 week visit to SFO. Were super hungry and this place was just walking distance. Was surprised at the self service format here and was not very excited about it. Had to get up multiple times, to collect orders, to get silverware, water, drinks etc . Liked the hot roti. Kiddo loved his kabab. Chicken curry was ok. Samosa was also ok. We also tried vegetable biryani, which was also ok. So overall food is ok but nothing to be excited about. Masala Chai was too sweet. Would recommend for casual eating and probably only for Kabobs.
Ordered chicken biryani, lamb vindaloo, seekh kebab. Loves the chicken biryani and the seekh kebab. In fact, went back the next day and ordered more biryani and kebabs. The lamb vindaloo was okay. What I didn't like: 1. The prices on their online website menus weren't up to date. The website says $12.99 for the chicken biryani but they charged $14.99 both times. 2. Every other place that I've eaten biryani, it was served with raita but this place charges $4 for raita. Wth! 2. This place is self service. You place your order, pickup your water and glasses and silverware from a separate counter, and collect your food when it's ready. I would expect a little more.
I need to preface this with the fact that I've worked in the restaurant industry for a lot of my life, and even worked for a popular food vendor, and have seen what happens when restaurants sacrifi…
