Great ambiance and good food, but definitely on the pricier side.

Met a friend for brunch and was greeted warmly into a beautiful venue. It was Saturday so the brunch menu was on offer. Unfortunately for me, the fried mushroom appetizer was not available, however the sausage and polenta (polenta tad bit too thin) and the fritatta items were available and did not disappoint. Because we are greedy, a side of crispy bacon was requested. Highly recommend the strawberry mimosa and the sparkling rose to wash it down. Our waitress was the absolute best, forgive me as I forget her name. Next time I want to try the pizza 🍕.

Came here with my roommates and had a reservation and got seated right after getting there! Good - Nice staff, and beautiful interior, it's like a diner but upscale - The food was all sooo good we got 6 dishes total including dessert, and they gave us a free ice cream for our roommate's birthday - The polenta fries were amazing - crunchy and not too fried. - The ragu pasta was solid, and the mushroom pizza was larger than expected - super savory and really tasty - The sourdough ice cream was pretty cool, it had breadcrumbs baked into it Bad - Wait for the food can be pretty long Overall we had a great almost 2 hour dinner here and the time flew, the food was great.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! The drinks were delicious! The martini came with a little extra on the side too. The pasta was so delicious & fresh. The lemon pasta could have used more lemon but otherwise everything was so good. We also loved the crispy polenta

Late dinner with friends turned into an amazing experience thanks to Destiney, our attentive and humorous server. The tasty dishes and cocktails, combined with the beautiful and romantically chill ambiance, made it a memorable evening. Definitely planning on coming back! TIP: get the focaccia di recco – you’re welcome Dishes we tried: Spaghettini Al limone w/freshly shaved truffle Funghi pizza Braised duck canelloni Tagliatelle bolognese Focaccia di recco Tiramisu cake

La Connessa in Potrero Hill is a fantastic Italian spot with a gorgeous, Gatsby-inspired ambiance featuring gold decor and tall ceilings. I went for brunch and loved their breakfast pizza—perfectly topped with two sunny-side-up eggs. The food is delicious, well-presented, and the service is great. I’ll definitely be back for dinner!

The high ceiling makes the whole place grand. Nice bar service (we sat at the bar) and the slightly curved bar makes it not too awkward even if we had a party of 4. The fish appetizer is fresh yet it can have a little of salt to get the flavor more distinct. Good pasta but some aldante pasta, because of the shape, Made it a bit too chewy. Good cocktail.

I meant to do this earlier but ya. We when here on December 16th. The place was so beautiful with the lights and beautiful bar. The host (pink hair lady) was really nice and gave us the best table the place. Waiter ( Eugene I think?) was super helpful and friendly. Gave us great suggestions on what to eat and drink. The espresso martini was fantastic! Everything from the bar and kitchen was delicious! It was a special night for my mom and me to thank you for making it even better! Definitely coming back

Went here with my bestie to treat ourselves to a nice dinner and we left beaming! the food was amazing (the local seafood especially!), but aside from that and the gorgeous space, it might have been the best service i’ve had so far in the entire city. our bartender and waiter were amazing (we didn’t catch their names, regrettably) but our hostess, Naomi, went ABOVE and BEYOND! she was so sweet and warm and even took photos for us on two separate occasions, making sure we had something to look back on to remember the night ❤️❤️❤️ we are so grateful for the experience! we’ll be back! (and thank you Naomi!!!)

My friends and I had a wonderful time at la conessa. The squid ink pasta and arancini were fire. The focaccia was unconventional and reminded me of roti, but still quite good. The bolognese was also flavorful.

came here for a corporate dinner, the vibes were great and very spacious, felt like we were in NYC. the focaccia was most shocking, felt like a crispy paratha with some cheese in the center. the pizza was a bit doughy, wished the ends were more fluffy with larger bubbles, but the toppings were generous. the pastas were splendid, quite salty. everything was great, but the service was quite slow so be prepared to stay almost 3 hours if you plan on going through all the courses.

Friday night dinner at this restaurant is happening. It was full of vibes and energy. It sure didn’t look like that from the brutalist concrete outside. When that door opened, it was a different story! What a gem in the Portola Valley. Menu is rather small but very smart for this Italian restaurant. They have covered the basics with different descriptions of the food. We decided on “family style “ sharing for the appetizers… so that we can order more items and have a taste of everything. It’s a great idea! The serving staff were a bit stressed and much in demand. But when you get their attention, it’s all good. The trick is to get their attention. Food is good and I can’t say it’s better than other high end Italian restaurants. But the outstanding item was the Spaghettino al Limonde. This dish is on trend now and it was good. It’s spaghetti with butter, lemon, black pepper and grand pandano cheese. Pasta was cooked to al dente. The sauce was light, and the combo of lemon and cheese lifted this dish to a super light and refreshing plate of pasta. The other on trend dish is the Prosciutto with gnocco fritto. The combo was surprisingly light and tasty. The fried gnocchi puffed up and was super light…. Surprised. I would go back for those dishes anytime! This restaurant has great potential …. Try them before they become too popular!

Upscale establishment with high ceilings and good music and ambience. The food was good but there were limited items on the menu to choose from. Not a big fan of the 20% service fee for one person and just raise the price of the dishes of your going to charge an addal 3.5%

I first noticed La Connessa when I was in the neighborhood one weekend. It was closed at the time (they have limited hours, mostly around dinnertime), so my husband and I made a mental note to come back and try it one day. That day eventually arrived(!), and a group of four of us (my husband and I, plus his boss and his wife) came one evening after making a reservation. They were busyy - even with a reservation, we had a short wait. While it would have been nice to sit along the wall or by a window, we ended up at one of the many inner tables, which meant a bit more hustle and bustle as staff and customers passed by. That said, the serving staff and sommelier were attentive and helpful, offering thoughtful suggestions for us first-timers and answering our questions. We shared everything family-style, which was the way to go, including focaccia, prosciutto di San Daniele, salad, tagliatelle bolognese, agnolotti del plin, wine, dessert, and more. Everything was delicious, and the portions were good for sharing and tasting. I'd be happy to come back again soon.

I had a great experience at this restaurant last night. My boyfriend and I have never been to San Francisco, and we looked this up via TikTok. The host, Stephen, was really helpful while also getting us a table at such short notice. He made sure to call me when there was an available seat, and we sat at the bar. The food was a 10 out of 10. The bartender(don’t remember her name) suggested great meals paired with great wines. If you are looking for a place to eat, definitely eat here!

My wife and I wanted to try something outside our neighborhood and we're big on Italian so we made a reservation on a Saturday night. I think the best thing is the vibe and the look of the restaurant. When the sunlight goes down, the inside has a really comfy and warm feel. It reminded me of some great places in Chicago (where we're from originally). The service was also good. Our server knew her stuff, had good recommendations and was a great guide for our meal. But this is a restaurant and the food is where they fell short. It was just good, but for the price of great. The focaccia di Recco was good but then little gems was a let down. The leaves were way too large so they just got went with the dressing and kind of ruined each bite. The crust on the pizza was done right but the sauce and toppings were somewhat bland so again, not a great bite. I think if its just drinks, this place is awesome! But maybe it was a night off and things are better on other days.

Beautiful ambiance but disappointing food quality for the price point. La Connessa excels in atmosphere and decor - perfect for impressing a date with the setting. However, the food and service don't match the upscale presentation. Eggplant Caponata ($18): Small portion, average taste Halibut Carpaccio ($24): Bland and didn't taste fresh Agnolotti del plin ($32): Decent dish but overpriced for portion size Bodega Bay Rock Cod ($38): Most disappointing - bland, poorly presented fried fish Service: Server was inattentive and slow to return for our order. Bottom Line: Great for drinks and atmosphere, but the food quality doesn't justify the premium pricing. Consider coming for cocktails only.

The food for Valentine’s dinner was mediocre to say the least, disappointing and dissatisfying. The tuna salad (was it canned tuna? Ridiculous!) for starter was too simple to be served in a place like this, more suitable for a diner. The pasta with crab was overdone, not al dente. Not to mention that the crab was hardly even noticeable. The chocolate mousse dessert was ok, the only dish I enjoyed. And the Avenue cocktail. There were too many staff members standing around the hall, pouring water too often while we were trying to have dinner and a conversation. It felt uncomfortable and a bit intrusive. Still, they managed to mix up our order, even though we chose 2 out of the 3 available options. At the end, it turned out our bill was incorrect and we were charged extra. The 3 corse menu should have cost $95 (appetiser, main dish, dessert). We were charged $95 and $15 for the dessert! Definitely will not come back and will not recommend this place, a complete disappointment and the worst Italian food I’ve tried in S.F. so far. Not good value for money. The food was not worth the price. The interior is nice, though.

Menu is disappointing - not many good options. One of us asked for a sangria that was not in their menu. They said they could do but we were charged 26 for it. Never saw this in my life.

We had a reservation for 8:15, but waited 45 minutes at the bar before being seated, just to be told that a table was actually available all the time, just "too big" for the 3 of us (it was a 5/6 people table). I have been here before at least 10 times with my wife, but tonight the food was definitely below bar. Tagliatelle alla Bolognese were pretty bad (I am from Italy, I know how it should be): very very salty with very little beef. Funghi pizza was overloaded with garlic. Margherita pizza and the Prosciutto were good.

Reserved this place for valentines day. My wife is vegetarian. I called ahead because the options were subpar. Hostess tells me they can accomadate just tell the server and the server will talk to the chef. Chef Is aware. Showed up told the server. Server gave us Hella attitude, completely ignored me, told us the menu is fixed. I ended up speaking to the manager. Manager said ok we will modify your orders. Server comes back. Says the same thing. Menu is fixed. Talk to the manager again. For over $150 a person and calling ahead, I expect better. You should expect better. I don't recommend this place. Am never going there again. Vegetarian options are horrible. I eat meat but if we're guna be treated this way I'm not going there and you shouldn't either. Ruined valentines day for me and my wife.
