Great service! Lots of favorites on the menu, all just as good as the other. Great pozole! Great chips and salsa. Charming atmosphere. Wonderful staff.
Puerto Alegre is a tasty spot for Mexican food! The tacos and grilled meats are full of flavor, and the salsas and sides are fresh and vibrant. The vibe is casual and lively, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family.
I’ve been here a few times, the margaritas are strong, food is always great, and they have a mariachi band playing.
Puerto Alegre has been around a long time and with good reason. The food is solid, service is excellent. Had the Chile Verde Pork House Special. Comes with 3 warm tortillas, beans, rice, salad and stewed pork. Everything was delicious, good portion of the pork meat. Service was really spot on, didn't have to ask for anything. The atmosphere is definitely old school Mission District. First time I ate here was in 1995, other than the prices it hasn't changed at all. Did I mention they serve big pitchers of margaritas! People go bananas here with the margaritas. When it's really busy it can be difficult getting a table. You might have to wait 30-60 minutes to be seated. Overall great experience at Puerto Alegre, I highly recommend this business
One of my favorite places in the Mission. After the art gallery 5 of us wandered in and was welcomed with warm arms. The staff is so nice and accommodating. It took moments to seat us and then the margaritas started flowing, chips, guacamole and salsa arrived and minutes later the food. Highly recommend the chicharrones in red sauce, but you can't go wrong with any choice. Note they now close at 9pm on a Friday, but make sure you stop in alone or with a group as a good time will be had. There is a bar and TVs playing for your entertainment.
My FIL was in town and Tex Mex with a good margarita is always on his list. Turns out we’d taken him a few years ago and he still loved it. The service is great and the food is plentiful. The chips are super crispy and my burrito was awesome. Loaded with flavor, a delicious sauce, you can’t go wrong. We just had a pitcher of regular Margaritas but you could tell it wasn’t just a mix. It was cold, refreshing and bursting with Lime. All in all I highly recommend you stop by here if you have the chance!
This is by far my favorite place to eat in SF. The food is amazing. I’ve been coming for years and the quality just keeps getting better. Highly recommend ordering a pitcher of Margaritas. They are too good to have just one. Everything on the menu is a winner. I just had the fried chicken taco for the first time and YUM. You must order the Churros. They come out hot, ready to eat and with a chocolate dipping sauce. Probably the best churros I’ve ever had. Can’t say enough great things. Thanks to everyone that works here. Truly appreciate you.
Excellent! We came here looking for authentic experience and from the moment we walked in that's exactly what is was! There was even a mariachi band playing, so good! 😊😊😊 Food is delicious and there are so many tequila and margarita options. Oh, and DON'T FORGET TO ORDER THE CHOCOLATE CHURROS.
We stayed in a hotel on this street, and were just strolling the area seeing what place would lure us in....this place did. The smell of fresh tortillas, and salsa brought us here from the outside. We were seated in minutes, and this place was busy, but the staff was bustling and efficient. The waitress had chips and salsa on our table as soon as we sat down, and another waitress was over to greet us soon after. I ordered veggies fajitas, and a aqua Fresca (jicama flavored) to drink, which was very good. The food was great, flavorful, and came out pretty fast. The vibes were chill and low key, how I like. There was also a man in there singing with a guitar. There were a lot of liberal wall decor, featuring anti trump posters, and standing up for social injustice. You can also sit at the bar, and catch a game on the TV. This was a great night cap, make sure you leave room for dessert.
The customer service is A+ I personally can not agree and enjoy a meal with dogs in the booths next to me, under the tables, sitting in the doorway - it feels uncomfortable unsanitary. The dogs were quiet except one barking one. Differently Pet Friendly Glad I came once. I took the food to go.
Oh my goodness this place was amazing!! And I ordered take-out. I live in the area and thought that’d be easy but it’s in a very busy part of town so parking is REALLY HARD- be sure to factor that in if you’re getting take-out. This is the first place I’ve found locally that actually adds flavor to their fajitas, they don’t just throw veggies in a greasy pan. The shrimp tasted fresh too! They also respected my allergy completely. They did goof a little on my order- forgot the rice, gave me corn tortillas, not flour- but it was fast and such high quality. Look forward to ordering here again.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in SF. But why are they closed every time I want to eat there? For instance currently it’s 5:30 on Sunday WHY ARE THEY NOT OPEN. Such weird hours make it almost impossible to eat there which is so incredibly frustrating
My friends liked what they ordered :nachos and chile rellenos but we ordered mixed fajitas (beef and chicken) that were awful. The meat was hard , tasted funny and had so much onions! How come you can’t make a good dish of fajitas !
