Tried this place with my friend for the first time. we got four items. It was good portion. We couldn’t finish the XLB and had to take it to go. The food, atmosphere, and service were mostly good. however, it can get quite loud during peak hours. It’s in a quiet neighborhood, mostly residential area. If you plan to come, I recommend taking the L line MUNI because only street parking.

Accidentally placed my pickup order over DoorDash to the wrong location. Michael was so nice and helped me place a new order. Food was delicious and I might be wrong but I feel like I was given more dumplings than normal? Lots of food and we shared it with a kind stranger at the beach. 10/10 will be back.

Delicious food at great prices! I highly recommend the wontons in chili; everyone at my table enjoyed them. All the dishes had good portions and were flavorful, aromatic, and delicious.

Very good, food was outstanding and every dish had a good amount of food. Ordered six dishes for 2 people and took 40% of it home. The dumplings were fresh and flavorful, the pan fried dumplings were the best. Prices are reasonable and the service was ok, not the best but nothing to cry over. I'd tell you about the decor but nobody cares if the food is delicious. I'd advise to get there when they open up, it got full within 30 minutes.

Make a reservation if you headed here on the weekend. I came in for their pan fried pork dumplings which did not disappoint. We got the pea sprouts, shanghai noodles chicken soup dumpling. It’s a very busy and loud atmosphere which I didn’t mind. The service is super fast! Definitely coming back here.

Late night dumplings and noodles definitely hit the spot. Peanut noodles were good but I wish the sauce had more of a kick (nothing a little chili oil coulnd't fix though!). Soup dumplings were pretty standard and yummy but nothing too special. Service was great, the prices were as expected, and it wasn't busy at all. Would definitely stop by if I'm in the neighborhood again. Food: 7/10 Service: 7/10 Vibes: 5/10 Value: 7/10

Fantastic local find. We were just walking by and decided to stop. Service was quick and the soup dumplings were amazing. We watched the gentleman making them through the window. He made it look effortless.

The food is excellent the service was ok they were rushed off their feet with to go orders. With a few tables. 1. Pea sprouts with roasted garlic- delicious 2. Pan fried juicy pork- must have so good 3. Won tons in peanut and chili oil- this was my standout soup dumpling 4. Shanghai soup dumplings 5. Braised Pork belly with fermented vegetables (mustard greens) - this was the standout dish the meat was moist, succulent and well seasoned the mustard green added balance There were nats/fruit flies...

From the moment I arrived at Dumpling Kitchen, the place was bustling with energy and the captivating aroma of the food was incredible. I started with the fan tuan (sticky rice roll), and the crunchy, delightful pork floss was the perfect touch. I also had the spicy Black Forest mushroom salad, which was absolutely out of this world. To finish, the salted egg yolk steamed bun was the perfect sweet and savory end to a fantastic meal.

The dumplings were delicious, the peashoots and garlic and rice cakes were delicious. The salt and pepper fried ribs had too much batter.

Dim sum was all hand made and super good. The mapo tofu could have used some more flavor and the garlic green beans and fried rice had minimal flavor. The rice felt like it was missing something but I understand we are here for the dim sum. Shanghai Pork Pan Fried Dumplings and Shumai were delicious.

I would give this place a solid 3.5, but I'll bump it up since it's pretty standard sf eating. We ordered 4 dishes, rice cake stir fry, xlb, chicken corn soup, and not pictured is the sauced spare ribs. The worst dish was definitely the spare ribs, it didn't seem like they cooked the ribs with the sauce but just tossed it with the ribs after. There was a general lack of flavor in them. Everything else was just slightly under salted (for my taste). The xlbs were decent and they seemed to be hand wrapped which you don't see too often anymore. I did wish they gave you ginger, but I also didn't ask for it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The rice cake stir fry was not that good, however I enjoyed it nonetheless so can't complain too much. The seating is tight but typical, I was surprised it was so busy starting at 530~, but it's probably a neighborhood favorite. Overall we had a good meal and price wise it was okay. Not sure I'd come back as there are many other similar joints to try.

Overall pretty solid food and place. Good place to introduce Chinese food to other people. Well lit place with solid wood tables and chairs. As for the food, our favorite was the braised pork belly, which were tender and tasty. The Beijing noodles were more soupy than expected. The chicken and corn dumplings were good, but the corn lacked flavor. The green onion pancakes were alright. We came in when they were very busy, and so the lack of service was understandable but disappointing. We waited about an hour to dine-in, only to find that several names after ours were already called. Food took about half an hour from ordering.

I got the wood ear mushroom salad, the wonton in chili oil, and the pan fried pork bao. The bao were fried so long they had become so chewy I could barely take a bite of them (it was almost impossible to bite through them) and both the mushroom salad and wontons had so much chili oil on them my plate had about an inch of standing chili oil when I was done. Service was warm and friendly and also fast, except for the bao. I think some of the food cooking steps had to have been rushed - the basics are definitely there for a solid meal, the ingredients were good and a lot of the work that went into the food seemed to have been done well, but the way each dish was completed didn’t make sense to me.

The location was recommended to us by a local. We had a mix of dumpling and wok dishes. All came out quickly and were enjoyable. It was a different style of preparation than we typically find at our local Chinese restaurants but very good and a nice departure.

Overall, the food was pretty mediocre. The Wonton in Chili Oil threw me off, it didn’t really have that strong chili kick and instead had this unexpected nutty flavor that I wasn’t a fan of. The XLB was also a letdown since only about 4 out of 10 actually had soup in them. The highlight of the meal was definitely the pan-fried dumplings though. They were juicy, tender, and full of flavor, probably the one thing I’d come back for.

Xlb taste more like pot stickers filling, soupy but very light & tasteless , though filling is saltier & mushy. Sheng juan bao is re-pan fried .. bottom is hard & crusty .. came out in 5 min ?

It’s ok here. Not my favorite dumpling place in the city and the other plates are decent. To be honest I didn’t like the type of rice cake they used so I wasn’t able to enjoy my favorite dish that I normally order elsewhere. Also my friends and I agreed that their mixture of meat for the XLB seemed off. Can’t tell you what it was but the texture was not like XLBs we are used to eating. Once again, wherever I go a cucumber salad always makes it into our table! That was ok too.

I got the broccoli and beef. The beef was not very good, but maybe I’m just not used to what it’s supposed to taste like. Very soft and chewy, maybe fatty? Rice and broccoli was fine, service was fast.

The only impressive dish is Shanghai style pan-fried pork dumpling, love the juicy filling and crispy bottom. Pea sprout w garlic and shanghai-style spring onion oil w shrimp noddle are just okay, but portion is good. However, the Steamed pork dumpling was not what I expected. I was expecting a juicy soup dumpling like what was shown on the menu, but what i got were sad looking dumplings with no soup or meat juice. The pan-fired pork dumpling is way juicier than steamed ones. Was going to give one star, but the pan-fried pork dumpling made it into two.
