Authentic Thai food. Very good Thai taste. Dont judge from the old pictures. Here I take the new pics for review when we visit SF. Love to come here.

Great Thai food with excellent service. I have been coming here on visits to San Francisco for the past 10-15 years or so, and I was happy to see him my most recent visit that the quality is still superb.

The lunch combo was so big! I shared this with my boyfriend and it was just right for me. We got catfish, it was a bit spicy but not too much. The fish was so good.

I went with a colleague who has been to Thailand many times, and they said the food is truly authentic. Everything we ordered was delicious. Even in a pricey city like San Francisco, it’s relatively affordable. The bill included a 15% gratuity, which felt very reasonable and honest, especially considering the current trend in the U.S. where 20% or more is often expected.

We had a wonderfully delicious meal tonight with garlic noodles + a perfectly fried chicken which was so fresh and delectable, accompanied by a sweet garlic sauce. We four also thoroughly enjoyed the Crab fried rice, as well as a simple yet yummy tofu and vegetables. Nick was a wonderful waiter who kept our mugs full of delish thai tea and cups with fresh water. We felt welcomed, appreciated, and were sated by the splendid food. We'll be back!

Excellent food and excellent people. They were able to make my thai noodles veg and it was tasteful. My son had a soupy pork noodles and hubby tried green curry chicken, they were all flavoursome. One of the best Thai food we had. And pls do try their fried banana with ice cream desert. They do it fresh and was yummy.

The food was very fine, truly authentic. The only minor disappointment was that it had pepperoni in the dish. I noticed that this is standard in Thai meals in America, and it was also added to the Krapau last time. It's a shame, American, after all. I picked it out and put it away, anyway it was really delicious nonetheless. My dessert was also superb. 😎❤️🫶👍

Came here after a word of mouth recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. Cold beer in a pre-chilled glass 🍺 delicious soup (boat sized portions) 🚤 spicy chicken noodles 🍜 and to finish off some deep fried banana, Nutella and roti rolls! Generous portion sizes (surprisingly!) and friendly service.

Food was great. I had the lunch special, a tom kha with beef, penang chicken curry with rice, and some entree chicken skewers. Tasty, moderate portions, and service was low key but friendly. Definately recommend if you want a break from burgers and fries from elsewhere.

The Thai restaurant I usually go to was closed so I thought I’d give this place a try and I was not disappointed! The food was delicious and everything was cooked authentically! I didn’t dine in but there seems to be a decent amount of seating and the staff was working together so the flow looked immaculate. The wings were nice and crispy and the Pad prik king was perfect! I will absolutely come back and visit.

Very satisfied with this lovely restaurant. Welcoming hard working staff, clean space and great tasting food. Even though an order note was missed the establishment is definitely worth 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 💫 I ordered from the lunch special menu I was given the egg rolls instead of the shrimp rolls ordered I went for the bbq pork which came with egg fried rice and vegetable pad Thai. I added the Tom yum hot and sour vegetable soup 🍲 which was amazing! I had the Thai iced tea with my meal and requested another for takeaway :) Total $33.71 A bit on the pricey side for just a quick lunch- not a huge problem as all very tasty! I would definitely dine here again next time I’m in SFO ✈️ x 🫶🏽

The Old Siam is conveniently located on the corner of Ellis and Mason streets in downtown area (two walking blocks away from Powell Street Subway Station) that is surrounded by hotels imhv should be regarded one of the few best authentic affordable Thai restaurants left in The City. According to legendary “Chef Pam” from Bangkok authentic Thai food is indeed a marriage of Thai Chinese which is consisted of “five elements: salt, acid, spices, texture and the Maillard reaction, the chemical reaction between amino acids and reducing sugars that occur when heated.” However, there is a saying "green comes from blue, but intends to be better than blue." Signature Thai cuisine is unique which has many flavors:{ 1. sweet, 2. salty, 3. sour, 4. spicy, and 5.bitter} not overpowering one another yet robust with aromatic lemongrass, galangal, lime leaves, coconut milk, palm sugar, and red chilies 😮 😳. My favorites at the Old Siam are ❶Lunch Specials: Combination of Catfish Prik Khing @Goong Hom Par {Fried Shrimp Rolls(2)} ❷Chef Specials: Combination Seafood or Siam Seafood ❸ Thai Noodle Soup: Thai Traditional Noodle Soup or Seafood Noodle Soup. “Gin hâi à-ròi ná!”😉Kop Jai!🙏 Nick!🫡 PS: "Siam" is the former name of Thailand, derived from foreign terms (possibly Sanskrit for "dark/brown" also in ancient Chinese referred to based on its pronunciation as Xian [暹] or, more commonly, Xianluo [暹羅]. Thai Chinese are the largest minority group in the country and possibly the largest overseas Chinese community in the world, estimated at 10 million people accounting for 11-14% of the total population of Thailand. The Chinese traders started migrating to neighboring Siam in mid 1300s and primarily are Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese, and Hakka. Under King Rama in early 20th century law required the adoption of Thai surnames by migrants, a move which was ostensibly aimed at the Thai Chinese community. Common Chinese Surnames according to AI are in two categories: 1. "Sae": Saelee/Saeli (李), Saetang/Saetung (陳), Sae-ung (黃), Sae-ngow (吳), Sae-lim (林), Sae-wong (王). 2. Long Surnames (Teochew/Thai mix): Limcharoen / Tancharoen (Lim/Tan - 林). Wongsuwan / Wongsawad (Wong - 黃/王). Jiarawanon (Chia/Ha/Xia - 謝). Tongthaworn (Tong 唐 or 湯).{Is that right, Hannah 😂}

Food's good and place is cozy. Perfect for casual dinner. If you like spicy, order spicy (not the medium spicy). Portions are great. It's right at the edge of Tenderloin, but feels pretty safe. There are a couple of paid parking lots and paid street parking nearby, so parking isn't an issue. The hosts are really nice.

Lovely lunch today. Stopped in after spending the whole morning at moscone. I ordered the garlic spaghetti, very tasty! It would have been perfect if it had a teaspoon less salt, but otherwise surprisingly good. Service here was excellent, restaurant is clean and well tended. Good location. Thank you Weiss, you are an excellent server.

If you’re looking for authentic Thai food, you should definitely go. The flavors are truly Thai. Personally, I didn’t love it, but that’s mainly because I’m not really a fan of Thai food in general. Objectively, I think they serve good-quality food. We also ordered soup, and they brought a very large bowl. It was more than enough even for two people, and it tasted good.

Had the Pra Ram (#70) the beef was kind of tough. But the sauce tasted good. Had a lot of vegetables included with it. Fried Rice with egg was really sticky.

I ordered the medium Red Curry chicken lunch special. Delicious flavors, great service and good portion for the price. At the time I was eating at about 3 pm on a weekday, interestingly there were 3 other solo ‘guy’ diners plus me, all in the same manner served. I think it’s quite the norm to dine by yourself in SF. Funny how group dining is slowly becoming a thing of the past, just like family dinners are rare and far between, in the fast paced day and age we live in, where grab and go and online ordering, rules. You really can't go wrong with food from this looking-outdated from the outside yet uniquely special restaurant. Give dining a try here! Nice price for a whole lotta plate of food.

The restaurant was quite busy, yet the service remained efficient and attentive. Despite the crowd, the food arrived quickly. I ordered the lemongrass chicken. Unfortunately, the flavor profile was somewhat disappointing. It lacked the brightness and aromatic punch typically expected from lemongrass, and the herb itself was barely noticeable in the dish.

The Old Siam Thai Restaurant – High Hopes, Disappointing Reality We came to The Old Siam Thai Restaurant with high expectations. San Francisco is a city that often excels in Asian cuisine, particularly South and Southeast Asian fare, and the restaurant’s venerable name suggested a place of tradition and authenticity. Unfortunately, our hopes were dashed once we encountered the reality. The servers were friendly and accommodating, and the kitchen does offer some vegetarian options. However, the dishes bore little resemblance to authentic Thai cuisine—about as far removed as Chinese-American or Italian-American food is from its culinary roots. The flavors were bland, and more concerning, key elements of Thai cooking were missing altogether. A clear example was the larb salad we ordered. A proper larb must include the distinctive crunch and flavor of toasted rice grains, an essential ingredient in the dish. Here, there were none. What we received was simply a chopped salad wearing the name of a venerable Northern Thai specialty but lacking its defining characteristics. For what we paid, the experience was underwhelming and far from the authentic Thai meal we had anticipated. San Francisco has many wonderful spots for genuine Thai cuisine—sadly, based on our visit, this was not one of them. As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review. We hope the restaurant takes this feedback to heart and returns to the traditional flavors its name suggests.

I did saw this restaurant while walking the street, I wanted to try it since I loved Thai food. With the prices they have I’m expecting a descent portion, I ordered papaya salad half of it is lettuce , and spicy seafood ( 4 baby shrimp, 6 very tiny scallops, 2 mussels and 2 squid tentacles) so order vegetables with a little bit of seafood and order of rice basically it’s ala cart. Too bit pricey for the serving they have. Taste and flavor is just okay.

Good service, food overall was ok. Tom Yum Goong had a good amount of shrimp but not spicy, Crab spring roll was not good - basically vegetarian spring rolls with a small piece of crab meat on top - not recommended, Seafood curry was lacking in seafood, small little scallops, 3 shrimps and lots of veggies hence pricey - tasted ok, and ice coffee was too much ice so by the time I am half way it was getting tasteless.

Tomyam seafood soup was lack of taste. Not a real thailand tomyum soup. And i also order seafood chili sauce. And again not taste like real thai food that we use to eat. No worth it. For $ 50.
