This is really nice romantic place that you usually see in the movies with aristocratic servants and amazing ocean view. The atmosphere is great and staff is extremely helpful. The quality of the foods (we ordered seafood mix and king salmon) is of very high standard and delicious. But everything comes with the price, so expect to spend some money here, which I believe totally worth it.
Our server recommended pasta with prawns and a wine bottle since we were tourists and didn't know what to eat. The food was good, the wine was excellent and the service was wonderful. On my next time visiting San Francisco, I definitely will be back!
Great food, better service. Our group of 5 had a great time and enjoyed everything we ordered. Our server was attentive and helpful. Danny, the manger, is awesome. Not busy when we were there, so we were able to chat with him. He hooked us up with a great table with a bay view. He did a great job and really elevated our dining experience. Look forward to returning.
Always good. Classic spot on the embarcadero. Reviewing them particularly for their customer service There was a man screaming at the hosts about having to show his vaccine proof. They managed it with patience and professionalism. I was impressed at how composed the hosts remained. Excellent cocktails too!! 🍸 this is a view from the inside bar.
The Waterfront has great views of the Bay Bridge and Treasure island. It has both indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff is friendly and helpful. I had the Kobe beef cheeseburger and russet fries. The beef patty was succulent and juicy and tasted incredible! My wife had the king salmon burger with sweet potato fries. She raved about the flavor of the salmon patty. I had one bite and could see why. The salmon burger was awesome. Now I have a dilemma. Next time for lunch I will have a hard time choosing between the two of them. Both burgers are awesome!
The set up at the waterfront is absolutely amazing. Friendly staff comfortable seating great food I ordered the short ribs my girlfriend ordered the Salmon Scallops shrimp 🍤😋.. and of course the views at waterfront bar & grill absolutely beautiful! Definitely recommend it, If you're just passing through town or if you're a resident or a neighbor come in and enjoy 😉
Great experience, I was treated like a queen. Very curteous upscale service. Beautiful view of the bay Bridge. I ended up having the shrimp and crab salad and apple crisp. Everything was tasty and super fresh. Salad to entree prices ranged from teens to 30's. Great place to stop by and rest from shopping or traveling.
Note: this review is limited. My visit here was very brief, only about 30 minutes for a quick drink in between things. The drinks were good. (A bit strong for my taste, but others might not think so.) I ordered one appy to share. What I tried was tasty. Ambiance was cozy, especially with the Christmas decor. The service was great; friendly and accommodating. Everything was clean, including the washrooms. I sat in the waiting area as well as the bar. Both were comfortable. The restaurant itself is quite spacious. And of course the view was fantastic. From my short experience, I’d definitely visit here again.
Okay so I ordered the wagyu beef cheeseburger and a mixed green salad the dressing on the salad was most awesome my date had a salad and one of the pizzas I'm not sure which because I wasn't paying that much attention to what she said it was beautiful handmade pizza and tasted good as leftovers look like spinach on top to me. Our server was amazing I'm not going to tell you his name because I noticed they were all very good. I did give a generous tip in my opinion. We spent a little over $200 on everything including the bottle of wine that my dining partner consumed. The bottle the wine came in was so heavy and beautifully made the wine inside she said was excellent I don't remember the brand since I am not a consumer of alcoholic beverages. The server was extremely professional everything was done right not too many interruptions and we never sat with dirty dishes or anything on the table for more than a couple of minutes. The food possibly the best hamburger I've eaten in 10 years the bun was very nice perfect red onion and the wet toppings came in little ramekins. I swapped the french fries out for onion rings they were clearly made with Walla Walla Washington and we're obviously breaded in the restaurant themselves the breading was amazing these could be some of the best onion rings I've ever eaten. Knowing that just down the street they wanted $150 for a top sirloin steak this felt like a very bargain meal to me for San francisco. I highly recommend this restaurant by the way they are pet friendly. What a lunch it was amazing. By the way congratulations to this lovely couple they fell in love with Rona everyone loves Rona! It was their wedding day and they chose to share it with us because they fell in love with Rona!
For romantic dates and family sit downs. We appreciated this restaurant being kid friendly and so understanding when our little one gets a little too excited sometimes. They made sure we were comfortable at all times. Absolutely loved their crab cakes and linguini with clams- never had clams as fresh as this in a very long time. Beautiful view.
It felt like we were stepping into another place in time where service was immaculate, music and ambience was timeless and our server Emery was so helpful, accommodating us with wine preferences for our meal. We loved this restaurant and the best part was it was affordable with class from the hostess to your seat, a rare commodity these days
You must try the seafood when visiting SFO, so do we!! Intentionally search for a good one with a nicer view, thus that we can walk a bit after eating, we have eventually chosen The Waterfront Restaurant!! We went there on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was surprisingly full. Fortunately, we had reserved a table via google map/ OpenTable, so only a few minutes of waiting to be seated. The vibes were great, seafood was fresh. Local white wines are not overpriced. We can now confirm that we have picked a good restaurant in town ☺️
I'm in town for a conference and stopped in here for oysters, and wow, it did not disappoint! Marco, you were wonderful. The raw oysters were delicious. The baked, even better! And the salad, so fresh and tangy. My wine was amazing, the service was superb, the atmosphere cheerful and lovely. The pumpkin creme brulee topped it off and made it the best meal I've ever had alone. Thank you for a delicious evening!
Had an extended lunch here with an old friend, and I want to credit the waitstaff for never rushing or pressuring us, even though we took forever to order at every course (and to thank them for the prime bayside table!). The oyster appetiser was cool and refreshing, and my main of cioppino was very hearty (I did not eat for the rest of the day.) Now the food isn't cheap, which I knew going in, so I didn't have sticker shock. But ultimately I was happy with the overall experience and would recommend.
I was celebrating my birthday with my sister and my husband. We started outside with oysters and drinks, then moved into the beautiful dining room. We each ordered different fish. The halibut was so tender and delicious, the sole meunière was too and my Sea Bass was exactly what I was hoping it to be. Delicious crème brûlée finished off our meal and the service was impeccable along with the ambiance. A perfect start to our evening before we headed to see a musical at the Orpheum Theater. Can't wait for a reason to return.
I recently had a good dinner here with my mother. We had a good table right next to the window looking out at the bay. We started our meal with the crabcake appetizer which was delicious. I ordered the sole meuniere for my main course and they were very nice about substituting the sauteed spinach for asparagus. My mother ordered the grilled sea bass. For dessert we shared the sticky toffee pudding. The service was excellent and we felt right at home here. Would definitely visit again.
I had a fantastic lunch experience at The Waterfront restaurant in San Francisco. The venue's location is a true gem, boasting an impressive view of the Bay Bridge and the lively waterfront, which was especially vibrant under the midday sun. The standout dish of my visit was undoubtedly the grilled salmon. It was cooked to absolute perfection, with a beautifully crisp exterior yielding to a tender, flavorful interior. The salmon was complemented by a light, refreshing sauce that enhanced the fish's natural flavors without overpowering them. The ambiance of The Waterfront during lunchtime was both lively and elegant, striking a perfect balance for a midday meal. The staff's attentiveness and knowledge were commendable. What made the meal truly memorable was enjoying it against the backdrop of the bustling San Francisco Bay, with boats gliding by, adding to the dynamic yet relaxing atmosphere. The Waterfront is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in San Francisco, combining exquisite cuisine, superb service, and a view that's hard to beat.
100/10 By far one of the best fish plates we have ordered anywhere. The ambiance was very nice and the food was delicious. We came from out of town and mentioned it was my boyfriends birthday. The dessert was an apple crisp pie I believe. Super yummy! This is a must go to place. We will definitely be coming here every time we come to San Francisco!
We had a lunch here on a Saturday. The venue was beautiful. Staff from the reception to serving was very friendly. But I just have to say that portions were extremely small. Dungeness crab sandwich for $27 was more of a snack with a pinch of frisée salad. I understand that the crab is precious, the rent is premium, and the staff must be paid enough around here...but they could have loaded up with a bit more bulk to eat w/o having to resort to expensive goods - e.g., adding french fries would have rounded up, hence four stars. Taste was very good (including the oysters and original cocktails).
The food was really good, you dont get nearly enough for what you pay for. They don't even offer free bread. And very minimal sides. The service was very awkward. Older men who barely spoke. And when they did speak, they had a very strong accent. I ordered the salmon. I had to send it back twice because it wasn't cooked all the way through. And not even a sorry or anything. Nothing from a manager to apologize. The view was nice. But I will not be going back here.
A wonderful stop while walking along the water starting from Fisherman's Wharf. The views of the water and the Bay Bridge are breathtaking. While semi-off the beaten path from the crowded Pier 39, the Waterfront Restaurant is a great place to sit down and relax with a drink and delicious food. It's an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and the staff is extremely friendly. The Herbed Chicken was a little salty (yet still very good) and the small Seafood Pasta was a perfect lunch size.
Very nice restaurant overlooking the bay. It is a bit formal but they don't have a dress code. It is a sea food restaurant. Our best choice was the shishito peppers which were not hot and had a delectable aroma. The clam chowder soup was very good but I had better. The mixed grill was very tasty but the salmon and the 2 shrimps were very well done which made them hard. Generally a good restaurant with a good view and good classy service
This restaurant was chosen as the place for an annual holiday get together among my amigas (lady friends). Last year it was holiday dinner at Trabocco in Alameda. Menu selection of the entrées were great. I couldn't decide which seafood entrée I wanted - cioppino, king salmon, petrale sole meuniere, Alaskan halibut. Beverage of my choice was an Arnold Palmer. Eats: Alaskan halibut with crab mashed potatoes/chives and fresh asparagus. My lunch was on point and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed my lunch. The waiters were very accommodating, helpful and extremely patient with us seven ladies. The dining area was indeed comfortable. The decor was very festive for the holiday season. Dessert: Valrhona chocolate and walnut brownie with vanilla bean ice cream. Return visit: Yes, I want to try their cioppino.
The food was tasty and reasonably priced for a cocktail, glass of red wine, a salad, soup, and the seafood combination plate. The service was outstanding in seating and serving our meals. Both courteous and prompt. The atmosphere was magical on the best table in the house overlooking the bay, lighted in all of it's holiday splendor. We enjoyed our meal at 5:30pm. Perfectly time before our show at the Chase Center.
What can I say about this place? Highly recommended for a get-together with your loved one and family to celebrate an important moment. The view from this place is unparalleled and overlooks the bay and the bridge to the city. The food is very good, the chicken with polenta was very tasty and their glass of wine is excellent. The place itself is very old and traditional, as well as very luxurious. I recommend it if you are visiting San Francisco. Enjoy
Beautiful waterfront restaurant. I went for a quick lunch after traveling from Florida. I had a glass of prosecco which you can never go wrong and the burger w/ fries which was so delicious and juicy the fries were truffle and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was great, classy, quiet, clean and great efforts on all the staff that oversees the guests. I didn't picture the food on this visit but it was beautiful and plated nicely the pictures I posted were of the last row of tables inside facing the water. I had a perfect time here. No wait to be seated, clean restaurant, bathroom could've been cleaner/fresher but overall I reccommend this place.
The Waterfront Restaurant was a great find during a spontaneous stop this past Sunday. We were out exploring when it started to rain, so we popped in looking for a dry place to hang out while waiting for the weather to pass. We sat at the bar and ordered a few snacky items, which was perfect for the moment. Everything was enjoyable and exactly what we were looking for without committing to a full meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, likely due to the time of day and the rainy weather, which gave it a relaxed, easygoing feel. The menu had a good variety of options, and it definitely felt like a place where you could come back and try something different each time. There were plenty of items that caught our eye for a future visit. It was a good stop with a comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. We’ll definitely be coming back to try dinner in the future, especially on a nicer day when we can enjoy the area a bit more.
Nice restaurant by the waterfront. Food was great. $178 for 2 entrees, 2 beers and one cocktail. Plus $5dollar bread basket . Food was good. Service was good. Ambiance ok. I feel like the gal at the entrance gave me a look of "can you afford this? " I was walking down the piers and I just went into the first restaurant I saw, didn't think too much about how I looked. I might have been a little underdressed. But besides all good. $210 for 2 people including tip. I enjoy the cioppino. If im ever walking down the piers again, I would definitely go back.
TL;DR This place has Service, Atmosphere, Food, Misc. In that order. Good 4 star dining. Recommended for a nice night out. Full Review: The Waterfront Restaurant service was the best I've had. I was there on Friday evening around 5pm with very few patrons. This allowed us to have one of the best seats of the house on the bottom floor. The menu was full of seafood dishes as appetizers. I happen to have their clam chowder. The bowl was very shallow but the clam chowder was decent. My wife enjoyed a young leaf salad. She's liked the herbs and enjoyed it My main dish was the filet mignon 6 oz. I ordered it rare and it came perfectly at rare. The sides was some potatoes that were a little Al dente along with spinach that was the same. My wife enjoyed chopped cioppino and thought it was filling and comforting. She enjoyed all the different seafoods available in it. The tomato broth was delightful. We did not have time to enjoy their creme brulee dessert. But found that they're a dessert menu was plentiful. I got to enjoy a strawberry lemonade which was a little tart but still refreshing. If you have to use the restroom be prepared for something that doesn't match the rest of the restaurant. The men's room was what I would expect at a chain restaurant. Surprise by no paper towels let alone no cloth towels for such a restaurant.
Excellent service, delicious food, and one hell of a view, but watch out if you're a drinker. Crazy prices! Food pricing is more in line with the ambiance and my Pan-Seared Scallops over Dungeness Crab Risotto was insanely good. I recommend bringing your own bottle of nice wine and just pay the $25 corkage fee to avoid the highway robbery of their wine and spirits menu. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed eating here. We'll be back!
We stopped by on a Sunday in February for lunch. The restaurant, which has two main floors, only had one floor open. The restaurant is located between Pier 7 and Pier 9 and has a nice view of the bay from most tables. The restaurant also has a nice bar on the first floor. The interior is very nice and upscale. The menu has a good mix of dishes, and the fish selection is very good. We tried oysters and calamari, as well as other main courses as we were a party of six. All dishes were very tasty, well presented and prepared, and we had a feeling of high-quality dining. The wine menu is good as well, with a good selection of California wines, but also other regions and countries. The prices are actually not too bad for this location, given that it the restaurant is in the middle of the main tourist streak. The staff was very professional and friendly. We found the dining experience at the Waterfront very good, and it exceeded our expectations. If you are in the mood for fine dining and find yourself near The Waterfront we can highly recommend a visit. Ambience: 4/5 Staff: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Wine selection: 4/5 Price/quality: 4/5 (relatively high prices, but very good quality)
Really enjoyed the dinner, food was good, what did it for me was the exceptional service and breathtaking view, The grilled seafood platter was excellent the rest of the food choices we had were ok. Also would recommend blankets to be given to anyone sitting in the patio area, February when I visited was very cold.
Place decorum is on point when comparing it to Titanic. I'm sure the alcohol is amazing. Main courses are the highlight here, and the side dishes were super disappointing. Don't get the heart of romaine, the salad was super bitter. Staff is super dull and I felt like I was causing a problem when trying to ask for ways to change the food.
Used to be good quality and service. Last time I’ve visited in 2019 until tonight. Poor service, bad food, extremely overpriced. We have ordered fried calamari to start with, they were served in la few minutes, which shows that it were cooked a while ago and then served pre-heated. Next was the clam chowder(one of the worst) variety I’ve ever had in the city over the years. The seafood grill combo consisted of 2 shrimps, few pieces of scallops and over salted salmon, which cost $44. It took them about 30 minutes to serve main dishes. When we ordered desserts with coffee they brought it without coffee, it took another 10 minutes to get it. Overall bill for 4 glasses of Prosecco, one lousy seafood grill combo, 2 not eatable clam chowders, one ok pasta dish, 2 desserts and 2 coffees was $300 plus taxes. We left hungry and very disappointed. . Pretty bad quality and service, NOT RECOMMENDED.
Location is beautiful (right on the water), but service was VERY rushed (cleared plates that were't even done with) to move dinner along quickly and free up the table. Also, portions for the price were ridiculous... (2 crab cakes about the size of a half dollar around by maybe an inch tall was $20!?) Maybe it's better other nights, but not New Year's Eve.
Tasty food. The service was ok. Polite but took forever to get their attention and the restaurant was barely at half capacity (Wednesday night)
Cool view and ambiance. Friendly staffed. Extremely expensive food was pretty bland with a tiny portion size. $14 clam chowders for our group of 7 came out to $148 because of some Sf sales tax and an 18% forced gratituity. Picture was also a large bread bowl and it came in a shallow saucer and bread was extra in a basket. Avoid unless you are going small plate, fancy.
Went on Thanksgiving Day, menu limited 86 dollar for 3 course and people in the was expecting more that soup, turkey and pumpkin pie . I orders a la carte pay 54 dollar for 4 oz filter beef ( not Angus beef quality) people around complain the portion for the prices pay for plate. Pay 15 dollar for pico punch served in 4 oz glass. Only good thing is the location and bay view.
Personally I think this place is overrated. Out Caesar salad was bitter do to the yellow lettuce, they only added 3 croutons, Margaretta pizza was fine ,Sea-bass dinner was good but it was a tiny piece of fish, it was pricey, fish and chips were good , about the margarita drink I didn’t taste the Grand Marnier, personally didn’t liked it. Place is clean but needs fixing in the lady’s sink and more higiene. Small portions high prices. 7 out of 10 for the food but the servers are very friendly. NO PARKING AVAILABLE 🅿️
Came here for drinks after work to celebrate a birthday. We were sat down and given menus. The view was very nice. Unfortunately we waited 25 minutes to get our order taken despite flagging down 2 servers and walking inside to grab another person. Given several servers were covering the patio, I think the arrangement is pretty haphazard. Fries and pizza were good. Mussels were over cooked and dry. Fried calamari was soggy. Kobe beef sliders could have either less bread or more filling. Manhattan was good. Melon ball and Irish buck were too sweet. I’m happy we got desserts which were great.
A friend and I went for lunch there on 08/08/24. First time here. Service and food were disappointing. We ordered the clam chowder soup, and it was more like a potato and celery soup. It didn't have clams in it. Calamari was chewy, and it had no flavor. The only good dish was the Margarita pizza. Also, it was disappointing that there were no refills offered for fountain drinks. My friend and I intended to share the clam chowder soup, so we requested small cups to divide the soup. The waiter never came back to the table to bring the cups. We really expected better. We picked this restaurant because it had good reviews. Such a disappointment.
I am giving 2 stars solely on the service. I wa here on July 4 for lunch seated by the window. The waiter is Mathias. He was snobbish. Perhaps because I am Asian. I felt unwelcome, rushed, and discriminated. At the beginning of this meal, I was suggesting this restaurant to my Bay Club friends for a birthday lunch. I decided not to do this now.
Both service and food were absolutely awful. Took almost 10 minutes to seat the six of us, even thought the restaurant only had about three tables occupied. Then another 10 min just to get water. The server again took his time to come by and take our food order. I don't know what he's doing while we're waiting because the restaurant is pretty much empty and there're more servers than customers. The food was just laughable. $40 for this seafood linguini and it's tasteless. Nobody bother to fill our water or check in. I wouldn't come here again with a gun to my head.
Food was meh at best. I get that it's right next to the water so it's expensive but I expected the food to taste better than this at this price point. The portion is tiny. 2 small crab cakes for $31. People raved about the view in other reviews but we were indoors (most tables were indoor) so there wasn't anything to see besides the next table. The service was good however.
Beware!!!! Booked my table one week in advance for my wife's Birthday, asked for a table with a view. Upon arrival we were told to sit in the entrance as our table was not ready, 15 minutes later and we were never even offered a drink they said our table was ready. They seated us by a staircase next to the restrooms without a view, we asked to be moved to a table by a window and were told they were all reserved. It took another 20 minutes before our drink order was taken so a total of 35 minutes had passed before we were offered a drink and another 10 minutes before they arrived. Dinner was average however my wife's steak was ordered medium and arrived raw. We returned it and it came back 15 minutes later well done! Her lobster was over cooked as well and they were told and no recompense was made to us or even an apology. For the price they charged us for four people $540 you would expect much better service and defiantly better food. The server was non attentive and indifferent to our situation and after writing a note to the manager and handing it to him with my cell phone number on it and asked him to call me the next day to discuss the incident , he never called. They are only interested in your money and don't care about return service. Beware before booking, I will definitely not recommend this restaurant to any one. And to show this was a real person I sign this sincerely Andrew Atwood.
Terrible Service – Disappointing Experience We were seated right away since the restaurant was transitioning from lunch to dinner. We told them we only wanted drinks and maybe a couple of appetizers, which they said was fine. Instead of seating us at the bar, they put us in the dining area, and we were the only customers there. The service went downhill from there. The white wine was served without ice or a proper wine bucket, and I had to ask for one. The waiter repeatedly pressured us to order dinner even after we explained we weren’t hungry. Eventually, the manager came over asking again about food, and after we declined, the waiter completely ignored us for the rest of our visit. The attitude from the waiter was dismissive, almost as if we were unwelcome because we weren’t ordering a full meal. The calamari was dry, served without lemon (which I had to request separately), and overall, the food was mediocre at best. Honestly, I would have had a better experience grabbing a beer and sandwich from a deli and sitting by the water. Disappointing food, poor attitude, and terrible service.
We got there to celebrate my spouse’s birthday right on time for reservation, on a Saturday, nothing else available in town. We were well welcomed, sat down and after 45 min no one came to give us water or take our orders.. total disrespect. We then left the restaurant and got asked why we were leaving. We said we weren’t helped and the front desk said “oh, they must haven’t seen you”. There were over 10 waiters in the salon. I was calling them. We ate 10$ hot dogs in front of the restaurant. Not ok.
Paid top dollar for an okay view, terrible food and mediocre service. It was a special trip via SF ferry for my birthday and although we enjoyed our trip, the food was way overpriced for what you get. We ordered linguine with class and it came in all butter and small rocks inside but it had generous portions of clams. Burger buns were cold and pizza was naked. The staff was courteous and super casual at a chair store caliber. We probably walked into a tourist only restaurant, never again
We went there on Mother's Day, party of 3, we were seated within a few minutes without having a reservation. We ordered 2 entrees and 1 appetizer with water just to drink. The food was less than overwhelming. The pizza we ordered looked like a frozen dinner and tasted as such. The burger and fries were just ok. The fries had a cinnamon taste to them and the brussel sprouts with bacon were not fully cooked. For the price of their food, I would have expected better food. The waiter's never came by to check on us or see if we needed any refills or wanted dessert. They looked short-staffed, which was understandable for Mother's Day, but the 4 ladies that were seated next to us whom arrived after us were checked on at least 3-4 times.
This might be the worst tourist trap I’ve ever experienced! We drove an hour to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. She picked the restaurant and couldn’t even pretend from the first course to last, it was awful!! I could cook a better dinner than this place!
