Shima Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi spots in San Jose. Every roll is made with care, the fish is always fresh, and the presentation is beautiful. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The restaurant is bright, clean, and cozy—perfect for both a casual lunch and a nice dinner. Their specialty rolls like the Godzilla Roll and Lion King Roll are must-tries, and vegetarians will appreciate their delicious veggie options like udon and vegetable rolls. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I’ve never left disappointed, and every visit feels like a treat. Highly recommended for anyone who loves fresh, flavorful sushi served with a smile

Great first time experience. Staff was very friendly and the food was fresh. It's a little expensive, but you can taste the quality in the sushi. The chicken kastu in my donburi bowl was not as crispy as I would have liked, but was still delicious and large portion size. Highly recommend!

the staff was nice but the food wasn't great. I've never had imitation crab meat at a Japanese restaurant. It was awful and the bowl wasn't good either it was not like the menu described with no veggies at all unless you count the one shredded carrot on top. I wouldn't recommend with overpriced items.

The Quality of the fish was so so for the price per roll they charge. The Cali Roll uses imitation crab.

Unfortunately the food was pretty inedible. The California roll was not fresh at all. The salmon portion was super small. The salad also very stale. For $23, the quality was terrible. You can find a better Bento box for cheaper almost anywhere else.

Biggest problem - service We ordered to-go. Went out for 30 minutes and got back, food wasn't ready. The restaurant was running at less than 30% capacity. But here comes the worse part. The waitress asked us to go wait outside in the heat. After that we waited a further 20 minutes for our food. The food wasn't great but the service was much poorer still.
