Enjoyed my food, establishment clean, easy to order, service was above and beyond amazing. To note, this is not beer battered English style fish and chips. I enjoyed the batter to fish ratio. The fish was the right thickness. Both the fish and crust seasoned but neither one was too seasoned. I chose malt vinegar and tartar sauce with my order. No complaints about tartar sauce. Ordered from a tablet but someone was at the register readily available to take orders if that’s your thing. Takes Apple Pay. They have a parking lot and I was able to find parking (but again I did come at 3pm which is not a busy time). There is also two hour free street parking. Restroom was clean. Two big TVs. Noise level was not too loud. I will be back to try the fries and others on their menu. Pretty simple menu, not too many options.
Shark Boy never disappoints! Their menu is simple but everything is delicious. The fish is seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection. I've had their fish tacos before too, which are also amazing. Can't recommend this enough to anyone in the area looking for some good food for a good deal.
The fish and chips were absolutely spot on, just like you’d get back in the UK. Proper tasty and cooked to perfection. Huruy was brilliant – really friendly and super helpful, which made the whole visit even better. I went for the 3-piece fish and it was cracking. Would 100% go again, can’t fault it at all.
Got the hungry meal which comes with 4 shrimp and 2 fish. Both were super flavorful and crispy. Wish there was a way to taste all the sauces but overall super pleased.
10/10 I recently had the pleasure of dining here , and I can confidently say it deserves a solid 10/10! From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The fish was perfectly battered—light yet crispy, and the catfish was incredibly fresh and flaky. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and it was clear that quality ingredients were used. The chips were the star of the show, golden and crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside. What impressed me most was the variety of sauces and seasonings available, allowing for a personalized touch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and truly passionate about their food, which made the experience even better. Overall, The Chip Shop delivers a fantastic dining experience, combining a cozy environment with mouth-watering food. I can't wait to go back for another round of their amazing fish and chips! Highly recommended!
The fish tacos are out of this world and the owner was super kind! Would definitely recommend, some of the best fish and chips i've ever had and i'm not the biggest fan of seafood. The outdoor seating is a great vibe as well!
I was in the mood and craving some soul food. OMG! The fish tacos were delish. Muy Bueno! The fish was battered and put into a corn tortilla. The cole slaw was sooooo good. It really complimented the taco and fish and made the bite so pleasant. I finished the two like in 5 minutes. The fish sandwich was also excellent. Battered fish was SPLENDID. The cat fish was fresh and you could see Hoodie or Hooty cooking it with his hands. The Mango lemonade they had for drinks was off the hook. The fries OMG! Had some special spice to them and I could not stop stuffing my face. Piece after piece with the creamy spicy garlic sauce was a whole different game to the Yelp world. NOM NOM city. The facility was small tucked away in the back of the 3 other businesses in the surroundings. I will be back and do recommend you stop by with friends, family or solo and try this good sould food. Prices were perfect for my pocket book and made it easier to eat MORE!! LOL!! Hijole! Que Rico el pescado!!
The fried fish, shrimp, garlic fries, Cajun fries, cole slaw, and macaroni salad were all delicious. This restaurant is better than the other fish and chips we ate at because of the batter- panko batter vs beer batter. Panko is always better. The owner/chef adds his own seasoning to the batter. This will be our go-to place for our Lent Fridays. The fries were fried just right - not soggy, not burnt.
Probably one of the better fish and chip stores in San Jose. Was well seasoned, had no peel at all, and the shrimp was solid as well. Fries are fries and their mac salad was ok. Clam chowder was nice but the potatos were under cooked so made it a bit rough. Overall would recommend and pricing is fair for what it is.
If you're in San Jose and craving an authentic fish and chips experience, look no further than Golden Catch Fish & Chips. Nestled in the heart of the city by the airport this spot is a true treasure for seafood lovers. Plate 1: The Hungry (Fish & Shrimp) - The Hungry combo is a must-try. Featuring a generous serving of both fish and shrimp, this plate is a delight from the first bite to the last. The fish is perfectly fried—crispy on the outside while juicy and tender on the inside. The shrimp are equally impressive, with a satisfying crunch that complements their succulent texture. Each piece is seasoned to perfection, making every bite a harmonious blend of flavors. Plate 2: Fish Rice Bowl - The fish rice bowl is another standout dish. It’s a hearty and filling option, combining well-seasoned fish with a bed of fluffy, flavorful rice. The bowl is balanced and satisfying, providing a wonderful alternative to the traditional fish and chips platter. Golden Catch Fish & Chips embraces the essence of a classic fish and chips spot, with a charming fishing-themed decor that transports you to a cozy seaside shack. The ambiance is both inviting and nostalgic, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or family. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall delightful dining experience.
Everything was closed at 11pm, except this place. But it was like the GATES TO HEAVEN. Got the biggest fish and chips they had and THE THING WAS GONE after 30 minutes. It was too good. The guy was really nice. I love this place
Ordered takeout, and it was ready when I arrived! I ordered the 2 piece fish and 4 shrimp box, and it was enough for 2! The piece of fish is huge!! Both the fish and shrimp were seasoned well and tasted great with some lemon! They gave me 4 sauces to try, and I enjoyed the bang bang and lemon garlic butter. The breading on the fish/shrimp is soo crispy, reminiscent of a breading/panko type batter? Would definitely come again!
First time trying this spot out and I must say it did not disappoint. We had the shrimp and fish mix with Cajun fries. The shrimp was hella flavorful and breaded nicely. The battered fish was good as well seasoning was on point. We also had the lemon garlic butter and tartar sauce for dips. That lemon garlic dip was the one! Definitely be back to try some other items.
Really nice fish and chips place. The ambiance is very casual, as you order from a kiosk. The service is great. We each got the 2 piece fish and chips. Our sides were cole slaw, regular, and Cajun fries. Wow, just wow. The fish was perfectly done, not greasy. It's panko-crusted, so a welcome change from overly battered fish at other places. We ordered vinegar to go with our fish. I LOVE that it was in a dipping cup! Then I could dip my fish in it, instead of trying to sprinkle vinegar on it. More vinegar-y goodness! The cole slaw was good. The Cajun fries were very good, as was the macaroni salad. The manager (?) made sure to check with us and the other dine-in customers to see if all was ok. Great place!
We were from out of town and wanted to eat some find a place that cooked good fish and chips. There were many to choose from Google. But we went with the one with the most stars and we are do glad we did. The food was outstanding! And hospitality equal, as well. This is a little place tucked away we probably would have never found or chosen. We highly recommend eating there. And the prices are very reasonable. You will love it!
After a long day at the game, we visited this place for dinner. The food was incredible! Cooked fresh to order. I loved the seasonings on the fries and the bang bang sauce was just yummy. Meaty fish and shrimp. It was very good!!
First time here and loved it! The food was delicious, the place was clean, and the atmosphere was calm. We ordered many items for under $100—totally worth it. Highly recommend if you love desi food
We tried butter chicken, chicken seekh kebab, and bhelpuri and all were great! The naan was also soft and fluffy. Spacious and clean place with prompt service. If you like spicy things this might not be the best place, but everything was super flavorful!
Food was amazing, super flavorful and fresh. The butter chicken and biryani were top-tier, and the naan was perfect. Staff were super friendly too. Definitely my go-to spot for Indian and Pakistani food.
Great atmosphere and energy. Entire staff were really nice and kept checking in. The butter chicken and garlic naan was really good. The mango Lassi tasted authentic and flavourful. A nice taste of home! Will definitely be coming back!
Best Indian food that I've ever had. Staff is welcoming and made excellent recommendations. The food came out incredibly hot within 5ish minutes of ordering. Everything that I ordered was made with fresh ingredients with bold, but balanced flavors. Not overly oily and the meat was cooked perfectly. The desert is equally good. My only recommendation would be to have table servers and a beer selection but this is a meal that I won't forget for many years.
Great choice for desi food! There weren't too many people and we (three of us) got a table pretty quickly. Our food was out within about 10 minutes of ordering. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Naan (My absolute Fav!!) AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The Chicken Masala was so delicious, creamy, buttery and savory! I had to get another order of Naan to wrap up my Masala but it was worth it! Oh and of course, I got a Mango Lassi which was fantastic! Loved the service and the overall experience! Definitely would recommend!
This place was recommended by a coworker, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. While my previous experience with South Indian biryani was different, this style was still quite tasty. The gosht was amazing—the beef was juicy and tender, and the roti/naan made everything perfect. The service was great, and considering they had just wrapped up an event, our food arrived quickly. I’m definitely going back to try their nihari.
I recently visited the wonderful Karimi restaurant and was impressed. The kebabs, made with beef, lamb and chicken, were incredibly delicious — perfectly spiced and perfectly cooked. Every bite was full of flavor and tenderness. The naan bread was soft and fresh. For dessert, I enjoyed the baklava, which was sweet, flaky and perfectly balanced. I highly recommend this place for those who love traditional Pakistani cuisine!
Karimi is a great restaurant. The chicken tandoori was amazing and very juicy, tender served with the perfect green chutney. The garlic naan was so fresh and soft. We also had paneer and mango lassi to end on a sweet note. The lassi stole the show and was delicious! The service was fast and we had a great dinner
This place is very clean, very welcoming. We went here on recommendations from family who tried their Vegetarian offerings especially since we are all Vegetarians. We stopped by around 2 pm and the staff was very attentive and provided us with clean trays when serving us. You have to order first and then they will give you a table number and you can seat wherever you find cozy. We ordered a few appetizers and they did not disappoint at all. We ordered Vegetable Samosas and Vegetable Manchurian. They served the Tamarind and Mint Chutneys which were kept refrigerated and totally tasted yummy. For main course we ordered Chili Garlic Noodles. Paneer Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan. We enjoyed every bite of the amazing food served and finished off with some Gulab Jamun and Pistachio Baklava. Oh we also got a meetha paan. The place is on point for value, taste and the offering of food. Definitely a top 5 favorite now.
Great mix of Indian and Pak food at reasonable price. There place is clean and offers quick service with lots of room... The kabobs and meat are of great taste... This is more of a pay first, food next type which makes you reorder every time you need more... But the staff is very friendly and helpful... Definitely worth a stop
I had the chicken karahi, the flavor was good, but the meat pieces were a bit big and saltier than I prefer. Still, pretty solid for the price. The tandoori naan went really well with it, and the chicken seekh kebab was also good for what it cost. The only thing I didn’t love was the carrot halwa , it didn’t taste fresh. Overall, decent food and good value.
Here’s a Tried Karimi Indian Restaurant and the first bite genuinely wowed me — rich, bold flavors that hit the spot right away! The chicken biryani was aromatic and perfectly spiced, and the chicken tikka masala had that creamy, tangy goodness I love. The butter naan was soft, buttery, and ideal for scooping up every last bit of sauce. I also tried their baklava, which was warm, flaky, and topped with just the right amount of crushed pistachios — a sweet finish to a heavy meal. That said, while everything tasted great, I did find it very hard to digest — even 15 hours later, I was still feeling the weight of it. Flavor-wise: solid. But be ready — your stomach might need backup.
I had ordered Goat biryani. The food was served within 10 mins. The food was very warm. The meat was cooked perfectly and there was a good amount of meat in it. It's a little expensive for the amount of food we get. Please request for tableware with your Togo. They don't provide them.
We met up for dinner, it was 6pm on a Thursday so parking was available, there is a lot at the end of the strip of businesses with plenty of room. We are seated and given a menu, once you decide on your meals, place an order at the cashier. We got chicken tikka, salmon tikka, lamb kebab, garlic naan, roti, fried potato in a sauce, salty lassi, butter chicken, and halwa. Our favorites were garlic naan, halwa and lamb kebab. The chicken tikka was nice, cooked well, not overdry. Salmon a bit fishy. The food came out fast and we were well fed. There wasn't much interaction unless you were ordering food and they brought your dishes. Pick up your own plates and untensils at the counter. Also available was chai but it was already sweetened.
This is a great spot to get a quick fix for north Indian and Pakistani cuisine without your wallet taking a hit. We've been here a few times both for lunch and dinner. They serve in a traditional Indian/Pakistani way viz. not American styled entrees but rather in a large serve ware from where it can be shared amongst each other. We've had the following: Chicken Tikka leg: Well made and charred to perfection. They use a very specific brand of paprika to give the bright color. It is no food color for sure since it does not stick to your hand. The meat is soft and delicious. Goes very well with their chutney. Chicken boti kebab & malai kebab: Once again they're cooked and charred to perfection. The taste has been consistently good each time we've ordered these. We particularly like the softness of the malai kebabs but cannot choose a favorite here. both are equally good Chicken biriyani: Very good flavors. The flavor of the chicken is great and different from other chicken options they have. The biriyani's cut expertly so it has a good proportion of all the flavors. Goat biriyani: This is available only on weekends. The goat meat is soft and you can taste the marination. Good flavors. Point on both the biriyanis: We did feel it lacked a punch to take it to the next level. Chicken chilli gravy: This was a little bit too tangy for our liking. Aloo tiki chaat: Excellent chaat. Probably better than many of the dedicated chaat corners. We found the aloo tikki scanty on our first order so requested an extra tikki the next time. Got it for an extra dollar. Delicious! Chicken samosa: Very good. Small in size but stuffed with goodness. Butter chicken and tikka masala: The taste of the curries was ok. Fresh lime soda: Fresh. Refreshing. Soothing. The topping off with black salt gives it a unique kick. Goes well with everything on the menu. Must order. Ambience: Casual. Most tables are for 4. Clean. Process: Pick a table and get the menu from the counter. When ready head to the counter to place your order and pay. Collect your plates, cutlery, napkins and water jug from the counter. Food is brought out to the table. Feel free to grab the chutney squeezers from the refrigerator. Quantity: Good Parking: Limited. There's also 2 hour street parking right in front of the store. Times visited: 3
Not your traditional fish & chips. The fish was decent but there’s definitely better places around town. Not sure how this place got some many high ratings though.
Had fish and shrimp good flavor wish the fries where crispy would make them better they were soft soggy coleslaw is watever but the bang bang sauce does the trick for dipping really good
We got the fish and shrimp combo. The fish was perfect, tender, flaky and the perfect crunch. The shrimp was overcooked a little and the garlic fries had good seasoning. We live out of town but when we visit will come back for the fish.
At an event nearby and looked for a really food meal not too far from the hotel. This place and a few others popped up on Yelp. So I stopped in for dinner tonight on my own. I had to order at the counter, with a very kind helpful gentleman, who seemed in charge. decent seating inside and clean. Numbers on the tables to let the staff know what to bring to each.. I started with assorted Samosa's. and for dinner, I had the sagg paneer, beef kabob ( really a kaftan kabob), chicken tikka masala, and a little rice. Let's start with the people. Very nice and extremely friendly. the samosas seemed a little small but were good. sagg panner chicken tikka and beef kabob were all just good. I have had so much better but maybe for this area it is the best. It seemed like a steady stream of door dash and pick-up business. as I was leaving, the place began to fill up.
I was pretty excited to try out this place since it had good reviews. What I liked was it's self service, not a fancy restaurant, budget friendly. Food overall is okay. We tried the chicken boti kebab. The taste was good but I am pretty sure they use food color in the kebab. The achari chicken was a disappointment. The gravy was flavorless, the chicken pieces were soft. The gravy was very OILY..! 😣 You get tandoori rotis here which is what we tried. They should work on making better curries with lesser oil and better taste. Ok
I've had a lot of disappointing fish and chips in my life, but this was by far the worst. The breading was fine, but the fish itself was so mushy and off putting I wanted to gag with every bite. The shrimp was also just weirdly mushy and gross. Like they used the wrong kind of fish for this dish. There was zero customer service. Order from a touch screen. The tables weren't wiped off between customers. We had to clean our table beforehand, and bus afterwards. The food was delivered with barely a word. All around one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I went here due to the high rating on here, and could not have been more disappointed.
