Food takes a little longer than the average, but definitely worth the wait. Big, fresh cooked burgers, and big fresh cooked fries. Burgers come with plenty of toppings, and are definitely worth the premium price. Staff is usually very nice and friendly as well.

This was the first time I visited the San Marcos Marcos location. I'm a regular to the Escondido location. The burger was excellent as the ones I enjoy at the other location. This location has a drive thru. We are inside. I liked that they serve your order to you at your table.

Just hit the drive-thru while running errands. My son's friends and gf had mentioned it so he wanted it. He liked the burger more than Angelo's, that says a lot. The meal was 10.99 I believe.

Fantastic burgers. Large and flavorful. Can be pretty pricey though, and for their price they're only mostly worth it. I'd only get this when you want to treat yourself, but you can find a better place to frequent. That said, I'd still highly recommend

If your local. This is the spot to go! Want to get away from the normal fast food places? Go here! Just a good ole family owned good burger spot. They have a lot of different menu items. One's you want to come back and try a different order. It has a drive thru or sit down. If your buying any milkshake items. It does take a little longer. 10 minutes to do a fresh shake. This location is pretty close to the freeway. So if you want to pass bye and quickly get back on the freeway , you can. Prices are just right. For the amount of food you get. You will be content! Plenty of parking. It is in its own corner of the lot. You can park on the street as well. Sometimes it gets busy. There are no local shops close to it. So this is a food only destination. Haven't eaten at George's for years since they moved down the street. I had the 1/2 pound double bacon cheeseburger. Lots of bacon. Although it's 2 patties, I was able to order the meat pink and that's how it came to me. It was absolutely huge and delicious with plenty of fries. My friend had the fish and chips. Although it's not Cod there are six triangles a fish with a ton of fries. I can eat a lot but this meal is enough for two people. Once again delicious! Friendly staff

WOW! Stumbled upon this place by accident while out in California, and are glad that we did. The chili cheese fries were amazing and reminded me of an upgraded version of Wienerschnitzel, but with more meat chunks and way better fries! The burgers were awesome too as well as the pastrami sandwich. We ended up passing around our meals in the car so we could try everything! The girl at the window screwed up our tea order even though we were very specific but that did not deter me from giving the 5 star review this place deserves! THANK YOU!

Best Gyros sandwich ever. My mom was so happy with her Gryos. It was filled to capacity with delicious meat. The tomatoes were fresh and she loves red onion. She had forgotten to ask for more when she ordered. But they must of known what she was thinking it came with a large quantity of them. This was only $7.95 plus they give a SENIORS A DISCOUNT. THE PLACE WAS CLEAN LOTS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS. Easy parking HANDICAPPED PARKING and HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE 😄👍 OUR FIRST TIME HERE AND WE WILL BE BACK ONE SUGGESTION: Due to failing 👀 sight for older seniors and others with bad eyes. It would really help if you would consider making a few menus just for this purpose. In would be highly appreciated. I’m a customer of George Burger since the 1970s. The burgers and all of the food is great!!!! I particularly love the patty melt and the fried zucchini. The service is very good. The atmosphere is great and gives you the best burger restaurant feeling!!!!! I love it there!!!!!!

The value is great. The cheeseburger combo is $1.50 cheaper than a McDonald's combo, but way better burger and a lot more fries. It's $2 more than an In-N-Out combo, but you get more food. They do need to clean their tables more often. It was hard to find a clean table. I would still go back, it's a good place.

I love this place. Their food has always been first rate. Their gyros are amazing as is their chunk chicken salad.. If you're going to eat in the restaurant, be warned, they will come around and spray tables nearby to clean them ... while you're eating. You will get the scent of ammonia along with your food. I recommend you just take your food to go. That being said, they have kept their prices very reasonable for what you get, and they serve quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant, just take your food to go.

Chicken strips, cheeseburger, fries and onion rings were all DELICIOUS! Service was fast and our food was in front of us within five minutes, and all super fresh and HOT. The fries were perfect IMO, and so were the chicken strips. The restaurant was also very empty. Great place for lunch

This has some of the best burgers and onion rings in San Marcos. They also have a delicious gyro sandwich or salad if carb intake is a consideration. We never eat inside, it's always drive through pick-up. I was really surprised at the price increase,however, that is par for the course; that being said the portions are large so you won't be left hungry.

The Greek Chicken Salad is my favorite thing on the menu! Usually get my order to go, but the restaurant is clean and spacious!

I've been coming here since the 1980's when it was by the freeway. It's the closest Gyros to my house. Drive through too. Great burgers of course. Milk shakes. Fried Zucchini and O-rings. I even wrote a song about the girl at the drive through window. Yummy all the way around.

I’ve been a customer of George Burger‘s since 1986 when I moved back to California. And since then I have tried many burger joints in town and nearby. This is absolutely the best quality, taste and the freshest food. They’re grilled chicken salad with pita bread is so tasty & their hamburgers with a side of french fries are absolutely the best! Top notch! their ice tea is always on point fresh never stale. But don’t take my word for it, go check it out for yourself😊

San Marcos has surprisingly good burger joints and this one is my favorite so far. I got the cowboy burger and it was fantastic. The burgers come with a brioche bun standard which is the Turing test on whether the burger was crafted as opposed to simply sourced. The meat is high quality. The fries are that thick but not too thick perfection of crispy while still tasting like potatoes. I honestly didn't wait very long despite having the food made fresh. If this burger joint was in LA it would be backed up with orders but it's pretty chill on a Wednesday at 1pm.

Went to George Burgers in San Marcos for the first time in a while...excellent. I had the 1/2 pound double burger with cheese and pastrami. WOW!! It was filling and delicious 😋 The fries were just how I like them, a little soft with a touch of salt. For me, crunchy is no fun. We also got the Chicken Strips Kids Meal with their, I'm assuming homemade ranch. Awesome 👌 Added a Carmelo coffee drink and a Chocolate Shake for dessert 🍨

They have really big portions, we took leftovers home. Only problem I have is I live in NV so can only go when I visit my daughter, or we take a beach weekend.

Today, George put it all together for our drive through, “we haven’t been to George’s in a long time” experience. About as long as this location first opened . . . a long time ago. A well wrapped for the road Mushroom and Swiss burger with good fries and great, although I’m not a fan of the batter/mix/texture of the onion rings. WOW! A full larger whole onion serving and obviously fresh made. I thought them to be delicious except the batter . . . that’s all. Otherwise everything was a long awaited surprise. Surprise, “this stuff is good” (Chef, 2014). Just another reason to support local. Dicks

Take your pick of the menu items. Everything you can imagine and more. They make their own onion rings and fried zucchini daily, never frozen. You can taste the difference too. The problem with fast good joints, is they get bored due to monotony and it’s like your burger was in an assembly line. Pretty much, they are actually. Frozen, delivered, thawed, and assembled without any affection. For them it’s a job to pay the rent. At George’s, it’s a love for food and customer service and satisfaction. Man, when you compare fast food to George’s Burgers, they dip by comparison. If you want a classic old style burger without all the franchise hype, try George. And you’ll stop going through that old drive-thru at Jack, Mc’s, and that clown that calls himself a king. If anyone is a king, it is King George!! Long live the king!

If you’re looking for a classic burger joint, than this is the spot. I can remember back in the early 80s When my dad used to take me to George Burger. There was an auto repair shop next door he would go to and bring me along for lunch. Back then, it was across the street from their current location and on a dirt road. There was no freeway exit at Las Posas and it was very different. But the burger I had for lunch today was just as good as I remember back then. I think it’s the seasoning on the patty, i love it. And the bun is delicious. Quick and easy from the drive-through for a great lunch. Friendly staff that made the food just right. Nostalgia at its finest when I eat at George Birger in San Marcos. First visit here after a friend's recommendation. Came in for the breakfast burrito, but not served during lunch hours :(. They have an excellent gyro, good fried chicken sandwich, fries are thick, onion rings are well battered and sweet. Nice patio too! Oreo milkshake was real ice cream and milk. Gonna hit this place up at least once a week.

The prices are a bit expensive, but good food I can say . Their fries aren't seasoned at all they just taste like plain potatoes whereas other places it wouldn't taste like that . In order to enjoy the fries you HAVE to eat it at the same time with your meal can't enjoy them by themselves with simply nothing on them they don't have flavor.Other than that they're food is good just expensive. That's why I can't give it 5 stars the prices .

Place has evolved from a small joint 30 years ago to a nice well rounded more than burger place. Menu just got updated. I think they got rid of a some items (possibly less popular ones) but its a cleaner, less crowded & more straight forward menu. Food its not on the cheap side, but its in accords with the portion sizes. Everything I have tried is fresh and tasty. Place always clean. I would give them 5 stars, but I hate asking for soda refill. Not a problem when place is not busy, but when it is...

The pastrami sandwich is awesome! I had that and hubby had a mushroom swiss burger. He said the meat patty was pretty thin and too well done but not a bad burger. The sandwiches people were ordering looked really good. Fries are good. We ordered a banana shake and a nutter butter shake. Both were good and banana had banana flavor but I think from a syrup. The nutter butter had grains of cookie but needed more of the peanut butter flavor. Still very good though.

The burgers are smaller than I remember (actually a good thing as they used to be a LOT) but just as tasty. Three onion rings are gods and plentiful. Can be a long wait for food when they get busy (they're almost always busy).

The best place for Gyros in Southern California. Great Fries and Burgers, too. Some people have complained about the prices and speed of service. But this is not a chain fast food restaurant, it is a place to sit down and enjoy a meal with family, friends, and co-workers. But you can certainly sit down with a group and eat within the constraints of a lunch hour. Food is cooked to order and the portions are quite generous. Drive through and takeout service is worth the wait. This is one of my favorite places to eat in San Marcos, and we always take out-of-town guests here for at least one meal.

Ordered ABC , special cheeseburger, Bradley burger. Everyone happy. A step up from fast food because of the toppings available in the varieties they offered. I feel the beef isn’t too quality but overall tasty. Reminds me of the Gourmade burger in Santa Ana in Orange County but not almost as good as that (they had better quality patty ).

I love the variety of foods they offer and the place just seems so warm and welcoming. The price isn't bad at all for the taste and amount of food you get! The staff are so friendly and they keep the place clean. I gave a 4 star because numerous times I had my fountain drink awful where it was needed a change of the syrup bag. So now i would have to taste my drink before leaving the counter. Other than that, a great place to grab a bite!

Somehow managed to never go here before despite driving by hundreds of times, finally was driving past during lunch and was glad I did. Great burger. Good fries. Good prices. I'll certainly be back.

Are you looking for a solid burger or sandwich with fresh fries and no frills or gimmicks? This is an excellent choice. I would compare it to In-n-out for quality. The burgers and chicken sandwiches have quality ingredients and everything I've ordered here is delicious. It's not huge or particularly fancy, but it absolutely hits the spot if you want a burger and don't want the extra BS of, say, Jack-in-the-box or McDonald's. I definitely recommend it.

Based upon a single order, the burger was just OK. It could've used more flavor overall, even though the bacon certainly helped. The fried zucchini was good, and you get alot of it! Not my favorite, and a little more expensive than it should be.

Tip jar had a rock that looked like poop drive thru. Brown and round, pastrami was really thin with meat. The hat is better. service was good and friendly, clean area

Your typical fast food restaurant, something for a quick bite. The quality for its price is merely unworthy but if decency and simplicity is what you seek, then this might be the place to be. If I ever get the chance to go back, I'll try a cheeseburger. Chicken sandwich has no taste at all, but that might not be their focus. Like I said, typical fast food restaurant.

The team is phenomenal. They are so patient and kind. A lot of the guests tend to be older and very rude and impatient and the ladies working are always super gracious. This should be 5 stars. But today when I went in there was a line. And the ladies were hustling. And some older gentleman who may be the owner or a GM complained three times to a team member to wipe off a table. Mind you, this guy was doing nothing. He was sitting and watching YouTube videos. And the team member he complained too, was taking orders, running food out to guests and handling the dining room. I appreciate the hard work. But I absolutely think that man is lazy. And a horrible manager. Age, prestige, ego or whatever. If you want the tables to be cleaned hire more team members. Pay people better or at the very least do it yourself. And to cap it off he tried to throw some trash away and missed the trash can. And left it for the team to clean it up. I was so bothered by this man I cleaned up his mess so that his overworked staff wouldn’t have to. Awful.

Went for dinner tonight and I ordered my usual 5 piece chicken salad… how can you mess that up? Well this salad was about half the size they normally are and has slivers of chicken as in half a bite size.. mind you it’s not a cheap salad. I also ordered a regular cheese burger that went directly in the trash it was a soggy mess truly it was not eatable but hey the zucchini fries were ok.. I guess.. I’d say this place is hit or miss but always pretty $$$

I have very mixed emotions over this place. I mostly come here due to its location, literally 2m from my work by car. The food is pretty solid, but due to it being mostly a "Fast Food Diner", you can always expect a "long wait" due to being cooked "to order". I'm typically use to a 10-15m wait in the drive-thru. Today, I suffered through a 25m wait. 3 cars before me. Anyway, their Gyros are pretty awesome. Everything tastes great, but expect to empty your wallet if you're going to feed two or more people here.

Two people $27 : two cheese burgers with all the usual toppings (one also had avocado and bacon), generous basket of onion rings and french fries, one beverage. I used to love George burger but lately it has gone down hill. The breakfast croissants are to big for the small egg. They need large size eggs for it. And what used to be awesome chicken salads is now filled with the ends of the romaine lettuce no one is going to eat that my last salad had three of them in there. Whats happened?

Y'all are too much The last 2 times I went there the fries were undercooked inside. Yesterday I asked they be cooked a little more and specified not crispy or well done just fully cooked. I was super nice because dude, who wants their food messed with right? The chick gave me burned effing fries and I couldn't even go back or do amything becaise i had to get to my class that was starting at Palomar in 15 minutes. It really sucked paying over $8 for a.grilled cheese and a medium coke since i had to throw the fries away.

Average-feeling local fast food restaurant. There are better burgers out there but edible. Gigantic menu. Tries to look like chain franchise. Everything felt a bit off. Overflowing trash cans. Seemed in need of a deep cleaning and a redesign.

Disappointing, we have been going to George's since the early days when located where the 78 west fwy ramp is now. The burger was bland, soggy fries, onion rings were good however not as good as they use to be. Establishment was clean, bright and cheery and friendly staff. It was a bit pricey, food portions a little less than it use to be. George built his business on delivering tasty food generous portions at budget prices a "working man's diner". Its fallen short of George's original mission but considering today's restaraunt business environment food costs dictates short cuts to thrive. Hopefully it will be better on our next visit.

We had high hopes for a great burger only to be met with both burgers Raw and tasting like chili. Highly disappointed 😞 won't return. Price is fine compared to other places around. The zucchini fries were super salty. The onion rings were okay i gues but they were falling apart. The fries were good though. Staff was polite and food came out quickly hense the raw burgers.

Loved this place until this evening. Stopped after my son's baseball practice. We ordered at 713pm and everyone who ordered after us received their order before us. My son kept asking why is it taking so long. Finally at 729pm u decided to go to the counter and ask. She looked at a long list of orders then at a box if food that had been sitting a while and said I need 2 papas as French fries. She brought it out and apologized. I said our sandwiches and burgers are cold by now they have been sitting fro 20 minutes. She said if they are we will remake them I reminded her we were taking the food to go, so we would have no idea until we hgot home. She said the fries were hot and she could give me more. Okay that's great after spending $27. Well my son's grilled cheese was cold the cheese was no longer melted. Then to topic off my husband and I got the cowboy cheeseburger which comes with bacon. Guess what we went to eat the and there was no bacon. Not sure what us happening, but extremely disappointed with the service we received today.

$6 burger somehow nearly doubled the price as a combo. $11.50. The burger was just OK. The fries were terrible. A couple of employees were very nice, the other two were rather rude. High prices, nothing tasted good. I'm never going back.

How do I vote no stars? This place is by far the worst place I’ve been to . They literally gave me food that was COLD I politely asked them to warm it up at least in a microwave or something and they refused . Then we’re debating on refunding me or not after they asked me if I wanted a refund . How does that even make sense ? To top it off their cook a man wearing a striped shirt decided to eat the food he’s cooking for a customer wearing NO GLOVES ! Totally disgusting i will be calling the county on them ! This place sucks! Let start with the price. I got a bacon cheeseburger combo, with a side of thousand island. Payed close to TWELVE BUCKS!! I wouldnt mind paying the money if the food was great, but the food sucked. Bun was falling apart like they were old, hamburger patty tasted like it was steamed cooked, fries had no flavor at all. I covered my food with salt, pepper, ketchup and thousand island just to be able to shove this crap down my throat. The kind of food you would expect at a public school. I wont be coming back. Save yourself the trouble and go to Toms Burgers, Five Guys or In&Out!

Worst dinner ever. I ordered a chicken sandwich no mayo. Got home and the chicken was covered in mayo, soggy. After scraping off all the lettuce, the chicken was so dry and over cooked. So hard to cut. I had to feed it to my dog. My husband ordered a BLT and it to was covered in mayo. Soggy. $20 in the trash. Awful!

So slow, don't come here unless you willing to wait 30minutes in the drive thru for medicore food, it is the same quality as fast food but takes the time of a nice restaurant and costs the same.

Service is horrible. My daughter ate into a breakfast burrito and bit into a small rock. I went up to the front to inform one of the workers and she never apologized but said she would give me my money back. I asked for the owner who happened to be sitting in a booth, an older man, who I then went to explain and he never asked to see the rock nor did he apologize but only stated to just get my money back. Not once did anyone apologize. My daughter actually broke a piece of her back tooth from biting into the rock.

The worst experience ever. They forgot about my order. I waited 40 mins and they only said sorry. The cheeseburger was so cold, the fries were under cooked and the pastrami was not well done like I ordered it. I had been going to this place since 2008. Every yr it is getting worse. All the time new young employees.

Use to love this place, but now 15 year old kids are running it. They gave my order to the person in front of me in drive thru. I completely understood it was a mistake. Waited for the new food and fries were cold and order was still wrong. Pretty sure tzazeki sauce was passed it's expiration date. Super sad to see this place go downhill. We will not be returning. All 3 kids working were not a day over 16. Too much responsibility for kids.

I went to George's Burger today and placed my order at 1:22pm. By 1:45pm I still had not received my food and everyone else in the restaurant was receiving there food in a timely manner. I finally went up to the counter at 1:47pm and asked them how long until I receive me food. The associate took my receipt and then started bagging my food and then just handed it to me. When I asked what happened she stated "I forgot to bring it to you" and then walked away. No apology for her mistake. The food is great but the customer service is HORRIBLE. The owner needs to really train the staff better. I will never return and I will tell all my family, friends and coworkers to never to to this place.

This place used to be great! Now years later you have a staff of kids that could care less. Almost 10 minutes to get an order taken and while 4 girls were at the front counter, drive through was empty and they did nothing, but chat. Took 20 minutes to get a kids corndog meal. The attitude of these people and quality of service reminds me of why I refuse to do business at once great places, purchased by individuals that run it into the ground.

Awful experience after ordering lunch for me and my coworker the employee was extremely rude as we picked up our order having a attitude and Rolling her eyes, walking away from people as they are still paying I would like for the manager to pay attention to this because it's inexcusable behavior learn how to properly train your employees on customer services I called to complained and they hung up on me ! The worst part is my burger was not properly cooked it was pink! Disgusting!

We have been going to George's our whole life . It's always been amazing. Great food , service and prices well today unfortunately that changed. The price was the same , but the service and food were horrible. The club sandwich had 1 slice of thin yuky ham and turkey and 2 slices of bacon with 5 huge slices of tomato and overflowing lettuce. And 3 thick slices of bread. It was not good. The BLT was literally just tomatoes and lettuce and 1 slice of bacon broken into 3 pieces . Now normally we would politely say something but today the server was a brat. Rude to everyone, irritated and almost threw your food at you. We decided it wasn't worth it , we knew she would argue cause we saw her do it to 2 others. So we are choosing to not return. We understand times are tough and you need to make money. We would rather pay more for the same quality and portion as before . And mostly no matter what you need to serve people with a smile and no attitude.

Showed up @ 8pm after my kids baseball game. I was told I can only order to go because the inside was already clean. Although one family was eating inside and 2-3 other families on the outside patio. I mean if I really wanted to go food, I would have gone in line at the drive through. Or they can at least lock the doors. Anyways, just wanted to post because I’ve never been denied at a restaurant no matter what time they close. Hope the owner see’s and is aware that his employees are denying service cause they already cleaned and don’t want to wait until they are close to do that.

i want to like this place it’s close to home. guy up front is nice and has good service but i ordered online and picked up my order it was wrong so i went back to pick up my correct order again and turns out it wasn’t. got my order wrong twice in the matter of 20 minutes. i’m too embarrassed to go back and ask again or for a refund.

The food was subpar.it appeared as though the gyro plate meat had been collected from the ground. Additionally, a few hours later, it resulted in a bout of diarrhea. I strongly advise avoiding this establishment at all costs.
