Had a great time. The quesadilla con pollyo was tender and well seasoned. The Tecate and Ballon hats were great and added to the fun time we had.
Fabtastic waiter, really made our day! I accidently ate a Habanero pepper and he did everything to help me get rid of the burning mouth and lips. Dutch beer was very cheap (1$ for 355mL) and the tortilla's were great!
This staff is incredible. We love this place!
This place is across the street from the ports if you are stopping in Cozumel on a cruise. Great food, excellent service and amazing margaritas. Very good prices too.
Stop in, you won't regret it....unless you have too many Cadillac margaritas. Food is good, drinks are better. Lice music is awesome.
We have been both times we went to cozemel they had $ beers good food and our waiter was on top of it we also got to see a show while there from the aztec dancers.
Fantastic atmosphere , food was on point , and the margaritas were super tasty and huge (especially the strawberry). Service was rapid, attentive, and a great attitude. The bar tenders and food preps are all smiling and joking while working; which adds to the general attitude: they want to be there and they want you to have a good time. Server brought us a shot to wish us good luck after we paid our bill. Honestly wish this place was local . Couldn’t have capped our day any better.
Excellent food! The fish tacos were delicious. The margarita for 2 is the size of a large fishbowl! Staff is great, owner came around with free tequila shots!! Walk outside the cruise terminal, you'll be very happy you did. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful time!!!!
Best place in Cozumel! Ask for Mario for best service.
You don’t need to see ALL of Cozumel to have a good time, just go to Al Chile. I guarantee that you’ll have a great experience. My family and I had the greatest time with the good food and fantastic drinks. The staff was extremely entertaining and extremely funny. Our experience here was the highlight of our cruise adventure. We can wait to come back and maybe stay a little longer. Being from New Orleans we know how to have a good time but the folks at Al Chile’s made us feel right at home. We highly recommend Al Chile to everyone.
We enjoyed this place. Food was good and the service was great. My kid's dream was to do a tequila shot with her old man and thanks to the complimentary tequila shot at the end of the meal, I had one happy kid.
Nice lil place to stop. Gave me my change in USD no funny business. Nomberto sat us up top with beautiful views. We got chicken fajitas and shared. Not authentic food but still very good!
Stopped in on our way back to the cruise port. Had a few beers and some nachos and tacos. No regrets.
Funnest place, food delicious and waiter was entertaining. Biggest Margaritas I've ever seen...
My wife and I had previously passed this restaurant in previous years when on our cruises and decided to stop in, as we had a lot more time sit and eat this go-round. The food was great and reasonably priced. Our waiter was charismatic and fun to talk to and made sure everything was on-time and that we were happy. The thing that initially attracted us to the spot was the drinks and they did not disappoint at all. The margaritas were excellent with a good amount of alcohol in them. Worth every penny...actually you get much more than they are priced. While being a Mexican restaurant, the mood was very American in that there was a lot of Hip Hop and R&B playing loudly over DJ speakers. We didn't mind. As a former professional DJ I actually appreciated the mixes. One thing that was nice was that locals in full traditional costumes did some drumming and dancing inside the establishment, for tips. They were energetic and did a great job. The spot DOES include gratuity and it is clearly spelled out on the menu. I BELIEVE it is like 18%. All-in-all, it was worth us finally stopping in after these past years and we will go again when in the area.
Good authentic Mexican food. Excellent value. Friendly staff. I'd happily come back. I love the complementary chips and dip.
We had an absolutely perfect experience here. Or waiter Jose was friendly and animated which just added to the experience. Food was some of the freshest we've had. The atmosphere was inviting and friendly. The owner even stopped by to say hello and ask how everything was. Be prepared though, the 12" wide 6" deep margarita glass is only the large!
Fantastic Mexican food and service with a fun atmosphere. Open air restaurant with big fans to keep cool.
Muy alegre el restaurante y sus empleados. El ceviche de pulpo y camarones delicioso igualmente los tacos.
Excellent restaurant! Buena comida, buen atmosphere!
Excellent food, good portions, a few minutes walk from the port for delicious food. The chicken tacos fell apart a little a bit, but still quite tasty, and the nachos were flavorful and large portion 😋 The drinks were HUGE! 😍 I highly recommend the Caribbean sky, it wasn’t strong on the alcohol flavor, but had a good kick 💜 the Mai tai was a bit strong, but still great, and the Multiple orgasm drink was tasty with the coffee, hazelnut and all 😋 sex on the beach drink was decent too Very open atmosphere with great smells, a nice little breeze, but plenty of shade. Come and check them out!
Meseros muy alegres y serviciales. Buen ambiente y la comida es muy aceptable.

Espectacular
(Visited 9 Jan 2026) Located in Cozumel's Mayan Plaza, this lil gem was our first stop after disembarking Carnival's m.s. Horizon. $3 USD Dos Equis was the deciding factor. Grabbed a table for two adjacent to the sidewalk. Perfect for people watching and to catch all the breezes. Hats off to the staff and those Crazy Breakers. Un amor
Fun atmosphere, delicious food, and the service is top-tier! Mario and Jose were wonderful, funny, and really made our experience! The ceviche was delicious and a great portion size as well as the tacos. Bathrooms were clean too.
Absolutely loved our visit here! The food was amazing, the server ( wish I could remember what he said his name was when he sat us) was absolutely the best server I have ever had anywhere I’ve ever visited! He made our visit the best ever! Food was delicious, our drinks were not only great, but the size of them was well worth the prices! My husband ordered a medium margarita and as you can tell from the picture it is bigger than any medium drink we have EVER received from any other place anywhere! Our server even made us balloon hats, as well as other tables he waited on as well! Every staff member we engaged with were friendly, and very wonderful to talk with. They make the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I added a photo of our server because he deserves recognition for the absolutely amazing job he does!
We loved everything about this dining experience. Super casual, fun atmosphere, great location near cruise port, server was excellent (Carlos!) and he even showed his artistic talents with some really *unique* balloon designs that made us laugh until our stomachs hurt (not for the easily offended!). We had margaritas, Chicken quesadillas and tacos (SO good!), chips & guacamole … all so good! It was def a very fun part of our day. Great prices, great atmosphere, great food, great service!
The Taco was super delicious! Guacamole was rich and creamy. The Margaritas was delicious perfect to quince your thirst, the staffs are funny, hospitable and makes you safe. The restaurant is located across the street from the port so it’s very accessible. Just be careful with the kids roaming around with plastic flowers because they will steal your stuffs.
First time ever to Cozumel, Mexico, via the Royal Caribbean Cruise and it has been a good experience! I got the rum runner drink and it was delicious! Not at all a drinker but was pretty good. The Chicken Quesadillas were so dang good! I definitely recommend them! Decently priced and not that far away from the Royal Caribbean port! Within walking distance! Great service too, Norbert was awesome!!
The food was really good. The music had to be from someone's broken playlist, they played the explicit versions of a single female rapper artist 3 songs over and over the entire time we were there. I would have preferred something local. Plenty of spots to sit. The food was quick and good sized portions for the cost. The drinks were huge. The smallest version was bigger then our head and had to get half of it to go. The alcohol was strong and justified the price IMO.
We love this place! This is our second trip to Cozumel, and our second time to this place! Great food, great margaritas, and EXCELLENT!! Carlos, you ROCK! 😊
Great authentic Mexican. Huge margaritas and food plates. We ended up taking our entrees home because the chips-salsa and 1 app was more than enough. The food comes out super quick!
Un poco agresivos atrayendo a los turistas.
Buena ambiente
Update...I took away a star after this visit. Everything was almost like before, EXCEPT... There were no sides like rice or beans with our tacos.. Usually there is. AND WE WERE HARASSED TO PAY IN CASH. I get why because the exchange rate is so high at the moment. I insisted on paying with my card... And for the same reason. We only bring so much cash. We come back here every year that they have been open since the pandemic! Great food and a fun atmosphere.
First of all, pay with cash if possible just cause I had a little snafu with my bank after I paid for lunch here. Second: Do not get the medium margarita unless you have 2-4 other people to share it with cause it’s GIGANTIC. It’s so big, I can’t even imagine what the large looks like. Thirdly, their jalapeño is WAAAAAAAAAY hotter than the jalapeños we get here in the states so be wary. After all of that, I got the quesadillas (which are also different than the ones we get here in the states) and I tried all 3: chicken, steak and shrimp. They’re just little tortillas filled with TONS of meat and cheese. The steak and the shrimp were fantastic, I could take or leave the chicken though. One kid got steak and cheese nachos and those were great too. The best thing in my opinion though, is their guacamole. Very, very simple: super duper ripe avocados smashed and mixed with just a little salt and pepper and a little bit of lime juice. It had the smooth, almost creamy consistency of a soft serve ice cream. It was unlike anything I’ve ever had before because I love avocados but traditionally don’t like guacamole because of the onions. Great little place to try not far at all from where you get off from the cruise ships. Our waiter was fantastic, the guys outside the restaurant were funny and super nice, we got a free paper rose for my girlfriend, a few guys sang and played instruments and just overall a pretty good experience. I wish it was just a little bit cheaper though but I can blame the brunt of the almost $100 bill on my gf’s ginormous margarita. Lol.
We came here for an early dinner. The employees were super friendly (maybe a little too enthousiastic)- he stood by us the entire time we were eating and talked to us a lot, but he was nice. We were a little unsure about this place at first because there were a bunch of employees standing at the front practically dragging you in, but it turned out okay. The servings are pretty large, too. The food also comes with chips and a bunch of sauces, so it was nice to be able to try all of them. They do not take credit card, though he told us before we entered, which was good.
Quesadilla are not worth it at all. Nachos are decent. Service amazing
Service was good, but be warned that they do not take credit cards! And do not tell you till pay time. Also, drink prices triple by size and they do not warm you about it! We had a sticker shock when bill came.
Everything was great but I am extremely annoyed at the fact the waiter kept pushing for 10 dollar tip. I asked to leave 8. He took my card and brought back the tickets in pesos. Saw I immediately had the google up to exchange. Pushed that it was 20 pesos per dollar and it was right. Wellllllll I’m not a math scientists but I knew 60 dollars should be an even number and not 1140. I let it go. But definitely watch your money on this one.
Ordered a pina colada and a rum punch-told him regular size he said “in a cup?” -and they were $26 each and gigantic, not what we wanted or expected. Misleading. Guacamole was also better elsewhere. They also hound you with trying to sell animal balloons.
Good food but they will cheat you on the bill. They will say one number but your bill will be different. They will say it’s because of money conversion but don’t believe it. Check everything. Also, don’t bring young kids. Inappropriate humor.
Drinks were OK, very heavy on the alcohol though which wasn't a problem, however, all the drinks are priced on the menu around $10, but when taking your order they ask what size you want, but don't tell you the price increase, they charged nearly $50 for a single margarita, $161 for 6 drinks with no food, tried to give us tequila shots at the end even to the children in our party. Wouldn't recommend just because of the outrageous price gouging.
Went there 12/29/23 for some authentic Mexican food. This was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The food had no seasoning in it at all. We had to ask for some hot sauce twice, because the first time they gave us any, it was enough for 1 of the eight tacos at our table. Would not recommend
The food is good. The atmosphere is good. Unfortunately we got a very unfriendly and rude waiter. Not only did he dip his finger in the coconut water, he was also standing next to us all the time. Before I finished my coconut, he picked it away and wiped the table.
Watch your bill closely at this venue. Nowhere on the menu do they list the prices for “medium” or “large” drinks or do they warn you that these drinks are intended for 3-4 people or more. We ordered medium margaritas and were expecting a price somewhat close to the $9.50 USD menu price. Instead we were given massive margarita glasses and charged $35 a glass. If we had known that in advance we would have ordered appropriately. We did complain about the lack of transparency and we were able to get charged for the “small” fee for each drink. That being said, the drinks were appropriately strong given the size that we ordered. The chips from the chips and salsa order were also dry and plain, so do not order the chips or the nachos.
I would have given a better rating but the waiter decided to take it upon himself to add a tip. The bill was $64 USD and he charged the credit card 1564 pesos, which is $76 USD. As a customer I want to decide how much to tip based on the experience. PLEASE watch you bill when paying here. The menu wasn't clear on the prices of the different sizes for the virgin Pina Colodia which we paid $24 for a medium. They started us with a bowl of chips, Pico salsa and three flavors of dip (habenero, chipotle and a creamy corn sauce). The fish tacos were good but overly salty. The beef tacos were better. The guacamole was shaped as a fish and was good and you are given the tomatoes, onions and cilantro to add. This place had more pages on the menu for drinks and they do food. Lots of cocktails to choose from.
Charged my credit card for the drinks just fine, BUT THEN a mystery charge for $548.15. BE CAREFUL AND CHECK YOUR CARD!!!
I don't recommend their food. Probably even more unauthentic than even somewhere like senior frogs. When I told them it wasn't good they just laughed. The waiters just want to pull people off the streets.
Our waiter lied to us by pointing at a 9 dollar margarita he recommended on the menu and suggested we get a medium for me and my wife to share. I said ok and then brought out a huge margarita, after he brought the bill he said those are $35!! those aren’t on the menu with a price. I told him you lied to us and he just giggled and said he would never.
TOURIST TRAP. We asked for a small Margarita and an order of Tacos, we even pointed it out on the menu which drink we wanted. They brought a huge drink with also some chip and salsa, which we didn't order. When we asked about the drink, which clearly wasn't the size we ordered, the server said "Everything is big in Mexico" and lifted his apron revealing an inappropriate prop. At the end he brought some tequila shots, even for my daughter, who clearly is a minor. We told him we didn't want them and he made it look like it was complimentary. Only my husband drank his shot, but apparently we got charged for everything and some. The bill was over $60, when we only ordered a $12 tacos and a Sm Margarita. Also it wasn't an itemized check. We are not confrontational people, so we just paid and left. Just avoid this place, the prices on the menu are not what you will pay, they are pushy and they play dumb to get your money. Also inappropriate conduct by the server.
Scam! Came in there after seeing their drinks displayed earlier. Got a large drink listed at 16.60 usd 179mxn and 4 tacos for 9.90 usd 66 mxn. Got the bill and my brother in law got a tab for $3000mxn he was pushing to having him sign fast saying it’s just in peso it’s fine its in pesos. There is no way that a $40 tab equals $180! They tried claiming there is 3 bottles in there but it was nothing but colored sugar water. Do not come here they will take you for everything you have asking for cash!!
DO NOT GO On a port cruise we stopped to eat here…If I could I would call the health department… The waiter/porter didn’t realize I spoke the Language. Husbands food very dry and stale left two fish tacos when cleaning table they told each other in Spanish/Mexican to recycle them. Also final bill which I took picture off was not what was charged to CC 4.50/5 more. Horrible to run a business like this David Alejandro Lopez Reyes
Mediocre food, begging for tips and suspect they added some to my tab after I saw the charge on my card a few days later. Worst part is that I used my used my credit card only a few times in Cozumel, with it being taken from me only one time here at this “restaurant”. Mysteriously, on my way home I began having several fraudulent charges show up on my card. These folks are con artists and crooks… visit at your own risk and pay only with cash.
Absolutely horrible. This place is an absolute scam. We were here a few days ago and we were over charged. We were charged $83 on our credit card when we agreed to pay $33. We will be filing a fraud charge through our credit card company and leave reviews warning other people to not use your business as it is a scam.
Everything about the restaurant was great. Cold beer and the food was amazing. After lunch we went to sample tequila and my wife found some earrings that she loved. Salesman agreed to $280 dollars, but then he showed me the total in pesos (5600) on a calculator. I found out after we boarded the ship that he charged me $337!!! He used 20-1 but exchange rate was around 16-1. My fault for not catching it but he was dishonest!!! I will not make that mistake again and karma will circle back to him.
Be very careful when you pay at this resteraunt. Do not use credit cards. The waiter took my credit card for payment, put my card on his pocket and walked away. Then when my friend noticed something was wrong I walked over and I had 2 people try to block me from getting my card. Then they told me just cash. No card. He should have never taken my card. They all freaked out when I told them to give me my card back and then paid them in Pesos. This bar is right across the street from the cruise ship docks. How many people have they taken money from. Just a warning....BE CAREFUL OF THIS PLACE. So to follow up on my first review/warning.... after looking at my account at 3 AM. The waiter that asked for payment and asked if it was card or cash..... did indeed charge my card in the amount of $544.22 without my permission, signature or knowing. Be careful at this resteraunt. He and his manager stated the card reader was down. The waiter swiped my card to a reader in his pocket, not at the desk, but in his pocket. Also, be even more careful as he had 2 to 3 other employees running interference for him. They obviously do this often and are becoming more bold after reading the comments from other people who were completely robbed by this establishment while on vacation on this otherwise beautiful gracious island. Every other place we have visited has been nothing but professional and happy to have us return. AI Chile Resteraunt Bar stole from me. And it was a large amount of money as I said before, $544.22. Please be careful. There are many other great places to go to on this island that would never do this.
The other reviews were accurate. I didn't visit the reviews until after eating at this location and checking my bank account. Our waiter stated his name was Eric but I doubt that was true. He stated our bill should have been around $100 and then I saw my card was charged $134. Unfortunately, these are dishonest people. I would suggest somewhere else. The food wasn't that great either.
TL;DR: -Horrible customer service from the waiter. -the male singer aggressively came to our table to ask us for tips -random people came up to our table and tried putting items on us without our consent. -Taco was tasteless and expensive for what it was. Cruise taco was way better. My group of 3 wanted to look at the menu first before dining in. He immediately wanted us to sit down and ordered ASAP and didn't seem to want us to look at the menu and NOT get anything. We ordered chicken and fish taco, both looks the same. When we asked him to confirm which one was fish and which one was chicken, he wasn't happy that we were asking him for clarifications and doing his job. During eating, some random guy tried putting a balloon animal hat on us without our consent and behind our backs. I had to tell him no. When paying the bill, he also mixed up our receipt and change (not sure if it was intentional so we would pay him more by accident). Overall he was not nice, not courteous, did not care, didn't say apologize or say thank you. He was more mad that we made him do his job. Overall, service and trust is bad, the quality of the taco was tasteless and worse than on the Royal Caribbean cruise.
I have never left a review less than 5 stars. But this place will hustle you. We ordered a gin and tonic which the gin was 123 on the menu. We were expecting to pay for the tonic maybe 30-40 pesos. Brings the bill and it’s 330 pesos. Double what we thought. And the bill had another 100 pesos tacked on and they couldn’t explain it. They argued with us for 20 minutes and did not back down. We paid the bill just to get out of there. Do not go here!
I came here with friends. Ordered 3 gin and tonic and a mineral water. Asked for the bill. $939 pesos. The waiter said that they were doubles and each drink was $300. Don't come here. They will hustle you! Even purchasing doubles, it does not add up to $939 with shots being $123 each. Watch out for Hector. He was our waiter.
