This place blew me away! We got the signature A and it was mind-blowing. Excellent service, insane value for money, great quality overall. I swear I didn’t get paid to write this
Good quality, tasty kbbq ... with great kid-friendly service. Our toddler loves the banchan, esp the fishcakes. We've been here a few times, and the food's been consistently good. They recently changed up their menu, and don't offer a BBQ combo anymore. Their "sister" restaurant Seorai is excellent as well.
Out waiter Justin was excellent! He served and even cooked the meat for 5 people, going above and beyond to even plate some of it to serve to the other side of the table. He even gave us rosemary as a souvenir! (Unfortunately we forgot to take it) :
Hands down the best Korean bbq and best galbi gim in the Bay Area! Also expensive and quality of the service and meat definitely justify it! I have tried many galbi Jim in the Bay Area, this one is the best one, tender and savory! Don’t forget to ask for pickled radishes to go with the pork belly!
We were looking for a legit KBBQ place that wasn't AYCE up here in NorCal. Our search has been diligent but disappointing so far... until now, thanks to Chungdam. My wife and I shared 1 order of Prime Short Ribs and 1 order of Lightly Marinated Short Ribs. We also ordered some pork belly and kimchi fried rice. The meat quality was out of this world. The prime ribs were perfectly marbled and had that buttery-rich flavor only possible from high quality meat. Just salt was enough seasoning to accompany this dish. The lightly marinated ribs were great as well. It had a light lingering sweetness to the taste, so I'm sure the ladies will enjoy the palette. The pork belly and kimchi fried rice were excellent as well and overall rounded out to a satisfying and delicious meal. Also, a quick shoutout to Su Jin who grilled our meat for us. The grilling can make or break a KBBQ experience, and she was clearly a master at her craft. The ambiance is on the upscale side, so it'd be fantastic for a nice meal out with the family or with your date. I think this place is actually a level better than high-end KBBQ places down in Socal like Soowon Galbi and Chosun Galbi, which is surprising but I'm not complaining! I highly recommend everyone check out this spot at least once.
Chungdam is more up-scale and pricey than most Korean restaurants in the Santa Clara area. And if you value speedy service, immaculate cleanliness and high quality ingredients, then that's exactly what Chungdam will offer above competing restaurants in the neighborhood. I certainly appreciated it and had a great meal. We ordered the kimchi stew with pork ribs(not on the menu, but recommended by our waitress) and the seafood scallion pancake. Both were delicious and the portions were sizeable.
The food was delicious and the service was great. Great restaurant to meet friends. I recommended come early so don’t have to wait for a long time for a table. Very nice interior design and plating. The dish portion is big, we ordered one of each and shared between us 4. The foods here tasted good and not salty like most other Korean restaurant. I like their Chungnam Galbi Tang(short ribs stew) better than the crab tofu soup. Love their kimchi.
It took us many spots until we found Chungdam over 10 yrs ago and continues to hit our spots when we have our cravings from our other homes socal/asia/s.america for the $ conscious do note this is the most expensive Korean restaurant in the area and is not your typical ayce 😍😍😍 soowon galbi, seafood pancake, mackerel and spicy Galbi jjim again we come here for the quality of meat and when we miss our other hometowns. this is the only spot we go to for top korean restaurants in norcal (that reminds me we still have to find the best korean ayce in norcal too) downside parking is a hit and miss due to the nearby motel so expect to park off street
Edit: came back and this time meat was so high quality, tender and cooked perfectly!!! 👌 So fatty, juicy and soft! Also love their cheese beef quesedillas $132 for two people gets you about two BBQ meats that is more than enough for two. Next time we think just one marinated boneless Kalbi and one smaller dish is enough! This place has good quality meat but it was undercooked by the staff and was super rubbery and hard to chew. :/ Maybe we should have told the staff to cook it longer.
One of the fancy Korean BBQ places that you can tell right away after seeing the menu. The meat is premiun no wonder, Lightly Marinaded Shortribs is the best and most expensive, Spicy Sauteed Porkbelly & Squid is a great mix. You don't want to order Soft Tofu or Bibambap at this type of place, unless you just need to fill the stomach after BBQ.
One of the prominent Korean restaurant in the Korea town of Bay Area. This is an upscale place suitable for large groups and we went there for an office farewell party. We ordered a variety of starters of which the Korean style omelette was the star. I didn’t like their beef hot pot as much as their BBQ stuff. Please note that this is not one of those BBQ places where you grill the meats yourself. I would definite go back to this place.
This Restaurant looks really nice, a clean dining restaurant, it’s not your common grilling restaurant, waiters wait on you every 15 minutes, they make sure you are okey, they cook your meats and cut them for you. One of the best thing was we didn’t end up smelling like bbq at the end of the meal. We hade beef bone soup, cold soup and bbq ribs, plus the sides. This was more than enough for a person that loves food, their soup was so tasty I was blown away, or was I just so hungry either way I loved it. It was a small birthday dinner for just the party of two and it was good. Thank you for your kindness in serving us. We’ll visit again.
Nice midrange upscale Korean BBQ place. Great for an intimate celebration. They have a mixture of private rooms and tables. Meat is cooked for you at your table. Their selection of meats is refined and comforting. Highly recommend getting a platter set to try a little bit of everything.
I have not been to Chungdam for more than two years because everything was just way too sweet and salty. Recently, I heard that the ownership changed so I made a reservation for family dinner. Food, service, and atmosphere are all not much better than how it was under the previous ownership. We got a nice quiet room with a sliding door. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
I discovered this korean restaurant thanks to Google Maps reviews. We went here for lunch on a weekday and we got a table immediately. The lunch combo for two with cold noodle, bibimbap, beef bulgogi and all the accompaniments was super satisfying. The service here was lovely. They even have private dining rooms for hosting private parties of larger group sizes of 6/10 or more. We got complimentary desserts - a traditional rice cake which tasted like mochi and was delicious. Highly recommended if you're in the Bay Area and are in the mood for a convenient, pocket friendly, wholesome meal with great service.
High-end Korean restaurant located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Super efficient service, and they cook all of the meat for you right at the table. The various cuts of beef were all tasty, as well as the pork belly, seafood pajeon, and the japchae. Parking can be an issue, as the lot in the back tends to fill up very quickly.
Great authentic Korean BBQ experience. The meat was great quality, especially the beef, and it was perfectly cooked. For the most part, the staff do everything in terms of bringing the meat, putting it on the grill, turning it, and cutting and putting it on one side when ready. I would have appreciated a larger selection of soft drinks and desserts.
Great experience, food quality was some of the highest I’ve seen and service was premium. They are higher priced but it feels justified unlike some of its competitors. Overall had an excellent meal here would recommend
Fancy Korean restaurant! We went there for lunch and found that they have lunch special. We ordered lunch special for two and it came with marinated beef, Bibimbab and Sogogi Dwenjang Jjigae. It’s a bit pricey if you order individually. Combo special is affordable though. I’ll definitely come back again for dinner and try BBQ here. All complimentary side dishes tasted amazing and authentic. Such a nice place for a special occasion too.
High quality cuts of beef cooked table side by the server. With an advanced reservation, we were able to use a private room for our party of 8. Prices were definitely on the high side but portions are good and the Banchan was delicious. Good amounts of seafood options as well since we had an epesceterian.
Outstanding Korean BBQ Experience! Chungdam Korean BBQ is hands-down one of the best K-BBQ spots around! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home — super welcoming and attentive the whole time. The atmosphere is modern and clean, with great ventilation so you don’t walk out smelling like smoke ( we had a private room). The quality of the meat is incredible. Every cut was tender, flavorful, and grilled to perfection right at our table. The wagyu brisket and marinated short ribs were absolutely amazing. The banchan (side dishes) were fresh, tasty, and kept coming, and their sauces paired perfectly with the meat. The marinade crab definitely worth mentioning here as well. Service was top-notch — the team checked on us often, swapped out grills quickly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Prices are fair for the quality you get, and it’s worth every penny. If you’re looking for high-quality Korean BBQ with great service and a comfortable atmosphere, Chungdam Korean BBQ is the place to go! I’ll definitely be coming back soon.
Chungda is one of our favorite places for date night especially after a work day in the Silicon Valley. It's elegant, modern, friendly. The food is top quality. Basically everything you order can't go wrong but favorites: - cheesy spicy braised short ribs - any short rib for the grill - wagyu - cold noodles - pork belly Perfect place for a Valentine's day experience too! Shout out to Ted for the great service as well.
OMG... it's fireworks in your mouth, so delicious and tasty, and the dishes keep coming, one after the other. the staff is friendly and helpful, alway there. we had the dinner for four and added more to items to the grill. the restaurant is beautiful. lots of space and quiet, so you don't hear others. seats are wide sofa, easy to relax. Great place for a very good dinner. we'll certainly go again. the tab for four was close to $400 with wine, but that was fine, considering the quality of the restaurant, staff, and dishes. be sure to make reservations. not a place for kids and certainly not for vegetarians.
Chundam has always been my favorite Korean bbq restaurant in the Bay Area because I love their Suwon Kalbi. It's a different style of Kalbi (marinated with salt) that's sweeter and more tender than the more common soy sauce marinated beef from other places. This is a higher end Korean bbq place so expect higher prices and longer wait if you didn't make reservations. During the time when they renovated, 10 Butchers in Sunnyvale open and offered the same Suwon Kalbi. They are both good and I still prefer Chungdam but wouldn't say it's definitively better. Parking on the other hand is kinda annoying as you share parking with model 6 and it looks shady and sometimes can be hard to find parking spots. Service is good as you'd expect from the price. The place itself is modernly decorated and it even has private rooms for larger parties.
A traditional KBBQ restaurant with high quality cuts of meat and variety of sides. I would come here for special occasions or celebrations especially if I’m in the mood for KBBQ and do not want to cook (although it is slightly overpriced in my opinion). The service was excellent though – my party had a chef take care of all the cooking for our whole stay. Got the special BBQ set B which was had a different set of cuts. My favorite was the Suwon Galbi which had a well-balanced seasoning that wasn’t overtly sweet or umami. The rest of the meat cuts were average in my opinion. My favorite side was the spicy marinated raw crab. I usually don’t eat raw seafood except sushi but decided to give it a try, and I was glad I did because the raw crab meat tasted like smooth butter with a hint of seafood. The spicy mixed tofu soup was also extremely flavorful and had plenty of beef and seafood in it. The rest of the sides were average.
Excellent Korean food and great service. We really enjoyed a dinner for 4, not cheap, but it’s worth it. BBQ meet was excellent and they grill it for you on your table grill - I’d give them extra star just for that. I cook at home a lot (or do I?), anyway, when I go to a restaurant, I certainly don’t want to. They also offered an 18-dollar bottle of wine that turned out to be not bad at all. One person from our party even practiced her Gamsahamnida!
Chungdam was a unique combination of simplistic feng shui & classic atmosphere feels. It felt elevated-better than your typical greasy BBQ restaurant. It was nice to have everything prepared & cooked for you. I personally don’t like going to BBQ places where I have to prepare it all - no coordination lol. We ordered the marinaded shirt ribs & a rib eye with all the delicious variations of sides. The sake is so smooth! I usually prefer hot sake more but this was a high quality brand & it was well worth the price. Definitely would come back for another round to try more dishes!
The first time I came here was many years ago, and I don’t remember them offering higher quality meats back then. This time, we ordered the Chungdam Prime Galbi, which our server recommended—and it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the spicy cold noodles, and to go with the meat, I requested lettuce, jalapeños, garlic, and chili paste for wrapping. I really appreciated that the meat was cut in the traditional Seoul style rather than the LA cross-cut. The meat is on the more premium side, but it was worth the price point for higher quality. The ambiance was chic and nice, which made me really happy—there aren’t that many Korean BBQ spots around here that match the vibe and quality of places in LA Koreatown, so this was a nice surprise. We also had their house wine, which was surprisingly decent for the price—around $15 with a meal. As for parking, there’s a lot in the back and street parking available. We went on a Wednesday night around 8 PM, and it wasn’t overly crowded. That said, I’m not sure how it would be on a Friday or Saturday with larger groups or families. Overall, we definitely plan to come back.
Had lunch with my family here. Food is delicious and service is good; we ordered bbq plate A with three different types of beef and pork belly. They were cooked to perfection on the grill table for us. Cold noodles and seafood pancakes were also meeting the expectation but on a small portion size side compared to some other Korean restaurants.
Excellent choice of beef. No wagyu but still excellent quality and beautiful marbling. They only offer beef for the bbq no other kinds of meat. We were a party of 7 and were seated in a private room with the grill in the tables. Staff was very friendly and helpful. When ordering the meat they steered us away from the bulgogi and towards a different cut of meat that was more expensive and I did roll my eyes a little over that, but I stood corrected when we tasted that cut - it was delicious and worth the extra money. The staff checked often on us and even did all the grilling for us. Ample choice of side dishes and fixings to go with the meat. The atmosphere and the interior are a minimalistic and very elegant, but struck me personally as a little cold and sterile.
Absolutely stellar KBBQ place. It is a bit pricey, but absolutely makes up for incredible meat and service. You have endless sides as well, and an assortment of dips, salts, and sauces to try your meats in. You also don’t have to worry about cooking your meat, they do it for you! Finally, the beef tartar on the back of the menu us divine.
This place is pretty great especially for their lunch special. I love the variety for it. You get one meat option, two side entrees, one small desert, hot tea, 7 sided, and onion salad. For the dipping sauces, I'd go salt/3rd, wasabi, miso, and oily salt/4th. The sides are all consistent. I don't think any of them are weak but jalapeno and kimchi are my favorite. For the lunch special, they'll cook the meat for you. The service is pretty prompt. They serve you hot tea. It's super clean here. Good stuff all around.
Really nice high end luxury Korean restaurant! We drove all the way from the east bay one hour to try this place for their weekday lunch special! My mom and I loved it! They have 6 different delicious homemade banchan, especially loved the stir fried fish cake, bean sprouts, and cucumber. We chose the delicious seafood soft tofu soup, the bibimbap, and the jumulak (boneless short ribs)! It was plenty of food for two, we couldn’t even finish it all! Can’t wait to come back for dinner and the try their barbecue and specials!
Delicious food, extremely clean space and very friendly staff. Highly recommend lunch special 주물럭 갈비구이.

I've heard this place may have a bit of a wait. Luckily we had a reservation. We were seated upon arrival on Friday evening. Chungdam has a very modern ambiance with several semi-private tables. Each table has an off-center grill, so the rest of the table can be filled with the non-grilled items. Surprisingly, we walked out of the place not reeking of a bbq grill, perhaps because it is not a full-on KBBQ restaurant. We shared bottles of $13 Soju & $13 Makguli, so necessary for a proper birthday outing at an Korean establishment. $18 ChungDam Galbi Tang - short rib stew: This was my personal favorite. The savory broth was absolutely satiating with the tender ribs. I may need to make another trip just for this soup. $15 Veg Dol Pan Bibimbap - rice w/ vegetables on hot stone plate: The stone pot arrived table side and the servers portioned it out for us. The rice was crunchy with charred vegetables and a touch of spiciness from the kimchi. $18 WonSan Japchae - stir-fried glass noodles w/ seafood and vegetables: The japchae was interestingly plated with with what resembles a large banana leaf and a long manicured piece of carrot. The octopus and mussels were great even though the japchae portion was on the small side. $25 Bulgogi - marinated beef: Bulgogi was served atop grilled onions in a stone plate. It was sweet and tender. $36 Kobe Brisket: thinly sliced and juicy. This was served with onions and pineapple. I was delighted to see grilled pineapple and then our server brought us a plate of pineapple. $48 Yangnyum Galbi - marinated short ribs: Two racks of ribs arrived. The servers cook down the ribs and cut up the pieces. The meat was juicy and tender, while some pieces were especially fatty. I would say the dishes were tasty, especially the galbi tang. Service was excellent. I'd say ChungDam comes close to a 9/10 for me.
It’s hard to give this five stars because it’s expensive. It’s expensive and it doesn’t warrant the price to be fair. The quality of meats isn’t that much better than the competition. It’s a good experience but I can’t justify spending $120/per person at the minimum. For $120/per person, things need to be excellent and an experience and this isn’t that. The service was good but nothing special.
Came here fora work dinner. I haven't had too much Korean food especially lately so I was interested how this would be compared to others I have had. The good thing is that they good the meats for you on the grill and you don't have too and I didn't leave smelling like food at this place. :-) The meats were all flavorful without having to season at all or very little. I wasn't too crazy about all the side dishes. I liked the sprouts and the light seaweed dish (forget what it's called). We ordered 2 bottles of wine and they were delicious. The fish cake wasn't too bad wither considering im not a big seafood person. The garlic butter shrimp appetizer and the fried chicken appetizer were really good as well. I tried the Bibimbap and it was ok... All in all it was a nice experience.
My go to korean restaurant. The decorations are modern. The place feels clean. Prices are reasonable. Lately, portion are getting smaller. Tastes are a little off. Small plates are not as impressive as before. I think they are trying to cut costs. I like the bbq on table. However, you have to order two orders to be able to that. If you only order one, they cook the meat in the kitchen. I tried it once, it was horrible. The meat was burned. Meat quality does not feel as good when they cook on the table. I like its soup too. Services normally are good. Wait is long during dinner hour. They do take reservations. You have to call like three or five days before. Otherwise, you have to wait in line. Even though it is not as good as before, it is still better than most of others.
I think they need to improve about their facility, for example, one of the men's toilets was out of order, so many of male customers had to wait very long time in a line. Food was good in general. But especially, our sever "David", he has been wonderful for the rapid and faithful service all over during our visit. We'll definitely find David again when we visit Chung-Dam again in the future!
All in all I found it to be a very decent Korean BBQ spot. It is on the higher priced side, and the food is tasty. We ordered the Chungdam BBQ platter for $199, which came with 5 different types of BBQ meat, vegetables, and rice cakes. It was slightly too much for 2 people, but a great dish to try all of their signature BBQ dishes. I really liked the marinaded short ribs a lot. The server cooked it all for us which was really nice to not have to manage the grill. She also was very attentive and gave us a lot of extra banchan when I asked for a bit more of the kimchi, tofu, and seaweed salad. I recommend this spot if you're in the mood for fancy KBBQ.
The food quality is great and the portions are decent. Our server was quite misleading when he recommended quantities for us to order. He says for example the pork belly was for 1 person and I guess it could feed 1 very hungry person that didn’t order anything else (and we got a bunch of apps and soup). So we ended up with lots of leftover meats but the price came to $55/person + taxes and tip which isn’t bad. Also, ban chan is below average.
Was here with some family friends for a weekend lunch. Looked at several options in the area and Chungdam was available so decided to give it a try. There were 6 of us and we managed to get a private room which is great. The food was good and the setting feels upscale. The pricing is at the higher end. Would return.
Authentic Korean BBQ!!! Dined in here a couple times with some of my Korean friends!!! Super delicious food!!! Nice environment with private rooms for parties available!!! Always fully booked!!! Friendly and fast service!!! However, it is a bit expensive ($60 - $80 per person?) so we usually come here for special occasions. It’s definitely worth the try, tho!!! #koreanbbq #authentic #delicious #niceenvironment #friendlyservice $$$
It was a great experience. They have nice interior. We went for barbecue grill. We ordered Ala carte meats. The meat quality was excellent. They have amazing side dishes as well. Like the Korean pancake starter and steamed eggs. They are expensive so you can go for the experience. The service was good and they were helping in cooking the meat. We love the complementary dessert. It was made of pumpkin and rice.
Luv the private rooms. Exceptional service. We chose them to grill. Party of 8, so We chose 2 of $250 for 4 persons. Adequate of food , but Not an all u can. Meats prepared medium just perfect for most of us. Just had to leave it longer for the skittish souls. Great sides and expect nothing less. Past patrons also decent quality. Esthetics from plates used and grill turnovers was on the spot. Who doesn’t like a clean grill . A nice occasion to get out with family or friends. As always, post wherever u end up, so we can keep up restaurant higher standards or those that don’t.
Looking for a KBBQ place that's a bit fancy. Expensive but very clean and have good ventilation, I don't mind paying more for quality. Nice touch with the air purifier. Definitely have that nice restaurant vibe. The server cook your meat for you. Service is pretty good . We order Set B meat and another meat stew for 3 adults and a kid. The parking lot is shared with a motel/hotel next door. Dont park on the space marked for hotel only.
Nice experience and atmosphere. The wait can get pretty long if you want the bbq tables, we were told it was an hour wait, ended up waiting about 2 hours. parking is shared with the motel 6 next do…
The Food I've been to different Korean BBQ before, but my friends recommended Chungdam Restaurant. It is a more upscale Korean restaurant with BBQ selection. My friends and I ordered their BBQ Selection. - Seafood Pancake (해물파전) - Prime Boneless Shortrib (눈꽃살) - Prime Ribeye Steak (프라임생등심) - Beef Brisket, Thinly Sliced (차돌박이) Starting with the side dishes, most of them are pretty good. Though I would say the raw crab is a nice and unique idea, it is hard to eat as a side dish. On to the Seafood Pancake, gotta say it is pretty unique and I enjoyed it. Aside from the normal standard ingredients, there are thin crispy noodles wrapped around. The Prime Boneless Shortrib and Beef Brisket presented with good marbling, and it tasted very good. The Prime Ribeye Steak also presented with good marbling. Though we asked for medium rare, it was slightly overcooked. The Miscellaneous Chungdam is a fairly spacious restaurant. It is off of the main road, with a small parking lot and street parking towards the back. The inside has tables with and without grills. If you want to get KBBQ, ask for a table with a grill. Their staff are sincere and their service is very good. They will also do the grilling for you as well so you can enjoy your meal. The menu has a good variety and selection of items. Most people will focus on the BBQ Selections, but there is also Soups, Entrees, and Cold Noodle. They also have a wine menu if you want to pair some wine with your steak. It is pricey, because you are also paying for the service as well. Chungdam is a good restaurant for special occasions, but not for normal meals.
Overall food was a solid 4 stars and the ambience and service was also nice. The beef quality was good but maybe slightly more overpriced than expected. To compare, at this price we would get a much more premium experience at a place like 10 butchers. What made me ultimately downgrade my review to 3 stars was a particular uncomfortable experience. We came in a group of 4 and in addition to ordering meat, we wanted to split 2 orders of cold noodles amongst ourselves. Our server suggested that we can instead order 4 half orders of the noodles, it would cost $2 more in total but we’d each have our own bowls and the portions are slightly larger. We said yes to that but were later brought 4 full sized noodles. They were untouched so we wanted to give it back but the server mentioned that he’ll take care of it for us. He later came back and said that we would “only” be charged for 3 of the 4 bowls and we can take the rest out of his tip. This left a pretty bad feeling with us, given that it was a nice restaurant and it was not our mistake, we thought there would be a resolution that doesn’t involve making us take away a server’s tip (he was overall pretty good).
Upscale Korean restaurant in Korea town. Waited for a waitress to take our order for 15 minutes after we are seated. The seafood and scallion pancake was soaked in oil, super greasy. The colourful fishroe rice bowl with uni has no rice in it, just a blob of store bought seaweed salad topped with dyed tobiko and eel, the uni and salmon roe were not fresh. I don't recommend this place.
The food was tasty. The server was professional, though distant, as if they didn’t enjoy the job. We also felt very rushed through the meal, even though the restaurant had plenty of empty tables that night. I would rate it 3.5. ( I would normally rate it a 4, but since this is an upscale restaurant that costs $100 per person, I expect more)
I used to enjoy this place for its elevated Korean BBQ, with high-quality grilled meats and authentic banchan. On my recent visit, the experience felt more average. The staff were friendly, but the meat quality seemed lower and it wasn’t cooked as skillfully as before. Some dishes, like the pancake, were too thick and doughy, so the flavor was muted and tasted mostly of flour rather than the savory, authentic taste I remembered. It’s okay if you’re looking for an average Korean BBQ, but it no longer has the elevated feel it once did.
This is a very popular Korean restaurant where there are BBQ and regular tables. Their wait staff does the cooking. The interior is modern and the booths are comfortable. The grill is in the middle of the BBQ table. Reservations are via Yelp. They close them Sunday afternoon so you have to have a long wait in line instead. BBQ Meat is ordered in chunks that serve 2-3. Condiments for the meat are provided, along with a green salad. The meat was superb. We had ribeye, which is partially cooked, cut up, and then finished. The gyoza meat is marinated in delicious flavors. It’s also cooked and then cut up. Both were fabulous. The service is the reason for the lack of stars. We had to ask for whatever service items needed, including water refills. We were generally ignored for most of our seating, with the wait staff dumping stuff on the the table, cooking and leaving without a word or follow up. We also had to flag someone down for the check. This meal was about $125 for two meats and no additional drinks or other items.
The food here is okay, nothing special but acceptable. However, the service was disappointing, we tried calling for staff multiple times but were often ignored, and the attitude felt indifferent and unengaged. We visited on a weekday when the restaurant wasn’t busy, yet there was a strong unpleasant smell inside which made the dining experience uncomfortable.
Came here on a Sunday night around 7:30pm before they close at 8:30pm. Regular seating was available but we wanted the bbq experience so we had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. There’s a large parking lot next to the motel 6 where you can park, which was also convenient. We opted in for the brisket ($62), black pork belly ($52), and the hot stone bibimbap ($22). The workers cook the meat for you here, and serve you which is nice. However, I didn’t think this location was worth the prices they are charging for. The prime ribs were priced at $95, too. The food was good and filling but I could get more for a better price elsewhere. Also, because we were there near closing time, we felt rushed to eat our meal. We were given the check during our meal and needed my husband to sign it asap versus waiting until we finished. Overall, ok experience but will not be returning.
Generally overpriced and not very recommend. With this price, you could get higher quality of meat and service in other Korean BBQ restaurants. We ordered "Chungdam BBQ Platter" combo. It's mostly different kinds of short ribs and ribeye steak. The taste was okay, but not very worth the price. We arrived at the opening time for weekend lunch and there is no wait.
Service is great but the food wasn’t as good as what the price point would suggest. - Meat was on the fattier side. Tender but the marinated galbi was too sweet for me. - Steamed egg was pretty pricey for just adding fish eggs. Didn’t taste as good as normal steamed egg imo. - Seafood pancake was really crispy and thick and packed with octopus. This was my favorite - The dessert was tomato with pineapple purée which was a little weird. Overall, all their banchan and dishes had a seafood forward flavor which got overwhelming after a while. Would have preferred to spend a similar amount at 10 butchers instead.
Food was delicious, and meat was tender, but I don't think the price is worth it. It came out to $60 a person for four of us, and no one was really full at the end. I normally don't have a problem spending that much on a dinner, but this one just didn't seem worth it. We had the lightly marinaded shortribs, the black pork belly, cold noodles, and bibimbap. We should have ordered one more dish, but I would've expected 4 dishes for 4 people to be enough. Maybe I'm too used to LA kbbq, but I would rather just wait for the Baekjeong to open at Valley Fair, and pay for a little lower in quality but actually end up full. Would have given it 4 stars but it felt like they were cheaping out on some things, when we are already paying a high price for our food. The menu said if we ordered two meat dishes, we would get lettuce wraps and stew for free with it, but they didn't bring it out with our meats, so I had to ask the server about it. And even then, they only brought out the lettuce wraps. It was only after we had finished all of our other food and I asked again about the stew that they brought it out. The servers were really nice though, and constantly refilled our water and tea, which is why I felt bad asking so many times about the other dishes. They're lunch menu looks more worth it, so I'd like to give them another try.
The Food I've been to different Korean BBQ before, but my friends recommended Chungdam Restaurant. It is a more upscale Korean restaurant with BBQ selection. My friends and I ordered their BBQ Selec…
Declining quality. You can't be charging top dollars for this quality Chungdam management! This place used to be good in the past years. I would visit every week or two. Now, they are understaffed and the crew are terrible when it comes to cooking the meat. The side dishes are underwhelming. Our recent experience - The waiter put the marinated short ribs on the grill and left for 10 minutes while the fire was on low heat / broil mode. We tried to grab another staff's attention to attend to our table, but everyone was so busy due to understaffing! It looked like someone microwaved the food and put it in front of me because the meat ended up cooking at a low temperature for 10 minutes without any color. Best part? The waiter says the food is ready when we told him that the meat is not being cooked well. Off he goes again!
Sorry im not getting the hype. meat was mediocre. I could have bought from hmart and grilled myself at home. The seafood pancake lacked flavor, no sauce either. The brisket is cut too thick for my …
You guys lost your original mindset and quality. Charging me $27 for this boneless chicken with this much of portion, I can pass as you claim yourselves as a luxury Korean BBQ. Then I found this metal piece which punctured through my gums, looks even rusted too. This place used to be so good, I hope you guys re-establish your initial quality.
Food and restaurant is quite nice and there are private rooms for reservations and big groups. However service was extremely unsatisfactory. One of the waiters spilled very hot galbi-Jim soup on one of our elderly party members. He actually just smiled and left without any apologies. One of the other waitresses was kind enough to bring ice for the burns and clean up the spilled soup. The incident ruined our night and family outing...
They were going for luxury but ended somewhere in the middle Too pricey for the quality you get Servers only cater to the tables that order many orders of bbq Like at least make it actual 'luxury' and give me the vip experience with top tier side dishes. Basic number of side dishes here were only 5. As a Korean, you know that is not the way it goes at top tier restaurants. Their taste was mid at best. 뭔가 먹은듯 안먹은듯 모든게 애매함
We usually go to Chungdam about 2x a month and it was our favorite local Korean BBQ restaurant. However, they recently made a policy change for their non-BBQ tables where you only have 2 options to order from. They did this without any notice, no signs or mention on their menu indicating this change. We only found after we sat down and waiting awhile to place our order. If we had known this ahead of time, we would've waited for the BBQ table. Instead, we had to wait in line in the queue all over again. Very disappointed by the staff's response to this. Will be going to 10 Butcher in Sunnyvale instead. (Old review below) Hands down best Korean BBQ in the Bay Area. It's more expensive than other Korean restaurants, but they offer premium cuts of meat. Our go-to dish is the salt marinade galbi, so simple yet so much flavor!
Edit: This place sure fell into a gutter. The bean sprouts smelled funky so I asked the waitress to check it and she just kinda shrugged off saying this always happens. The shortribs we ordered were overseasoned and smelled very vinegary, making me think it went bad so I ended up spitting it out. I complained about both things to the front and after they went to the back, some older gentleman came out yelling at me to leave. The seafood pancake was ok. I would have paid for it if I weren't kicked out ------------------------------------- Old review: ------------------------------------- A damn good feast! Every single dish we ordered went beyond our expectations. Highly recommended for anyone in the area.
Disappointed After Years of Loyalty. I’ve always chosen this Korean restaurant for business lunches and dinners because it offered good food and a private, comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately, my most recent visit completely changed my impression.
I'd give the food here a 0 star if I could. Poor quality and extremely over-priced meats. Burnt edges. Overcooked insides. I guess the bill goes not to the meats but to the waiters that are all waiting on the bells. The place is also super noisy, not the kind you'd want to bring someone important into. I am frankly surprised that this place still operates while there are much better places with much more reasonable costs.
