In A Nutshell: -Dae Bak is a hidden Korean restaurant gem that brings you back to South Korea. -The set-up is great inside w/ terrific service. -The food options cover the entire spectrum of Korean comfort foods [i.e. Korean Fried Chicken, Budae Jjigae (Army Base Stew), dol sot bimbimbap, etc...). -This restaurant is more fun when you eat out w/ friends & family. -They also have some TVs set up to keep you entertained. Overall, Dae Bak serves up excellent Korean food in a fun environment.
Had some pretty good Korean food. Kind of reminded me of a place I went to in Busan when I visited there a couple years ago. Went with some friends, but I think I went too Korean on them. Actually had their silkworm. Brought back some memories eating it growing up in Korea.
My favorite types of places are open as late as can be if not 24/7. The fact that Daebak hits the mark of being open til 2am or later on top of serving delicious Korean style comfort/snack food is a bias that checks off all the boxes for me. I've been a few times now, trying multiple parts of the menu. They have staples like the spicy rice cakes, scallion pancakes, and bulgogi. They also hit the mark on their Korean fried chicken and their bude jigae. Atmosphere is very relaxed and chill, they play music at a good volume and everything is perfect for ending a late night out with a filling meal or sharing a few more drinks before bed. It's also very clean, almost overly so haha. All in all, Daebak is exactly what I am looking for in a late night dinner or after a long day when I need to unwind.
It's been awhile since I've been to my fav Korean comfort food late night hangout. I'm not sure why such low stars as I have not witnessed any issues with food quality and service. On busy nights ..yes you will need to sign in and get on a list and wait but Dae Bak is one of those places open past midnight (2am) that has great food and fun Korean vibes . Bulgogi 5/5: Super moist , they don't go over board with onions or try to add cabbage fillers like other Korean joints. Expertly marinated and flowing with juices you can spoon over rice and eat w Bulgogi..just ..Yum! Garlic fries 5/5 : Freshly minced garlic on top of fresh made fries..never once disappointed. Cheesy corn: 5/5 : Served in a hot skillet plate. I'm not sure when cheese made it into Korean dishes but this is one I usually order when I come here . Dish is melted white cheese over corn. I'm guessing it mozzarella but never confirmed. Watermelon soju 5/5 : Still one of my favs..they don't use the dry ice anymore in favor of sparklers..cool presentation to impress your guests/date. It's fresh watermelon juice mixed with soju. Refreshing and not too alochol-y in taste. Interior: Simple cozy booth seating and tables/chairs scattered. String lights and screens playing kpop latest hits . There alot of big groups that come here to hangout w friends or celebrate special occasions. Vibe : This is a high energy crowd. It's super busy at night , soju is flowing .. Korean music is pumping with a lot of friendly chatter. Just a cool experience and highly recommend! *Tip: you don't need to be Korean to get good service. Don't be shy and raise your hand to get the attention of a server ..they will come to you!
I went to Daebak Pocha yesterday and was really impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, and I could tell they put a lot of thought into the menu. It’s definitely improved a lot. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-presented. I’ll definitely be coming here more often!
I haven't tried the place, yet, but I am going to. There have been a few occasions where I had picked up something at the store next door. I look over at the restaurant, and there have been at least 40 to 60 people standing outside. ( I'm assuming, waiting for a table, or take-out) They were mostly Asian,( I'll make another fairly safe assumption), most likely Korean. So, I would guess that the food served there is pretty darn good, as well as authentic. I think I'll give it a try next week and see if it is as good as it seems to be. I'll be sure to let you know.
The food is very good, especially their wings and the cheese corn. Frank did an amazing job, really made everyone feel comfortable and always had everyone smiling. definitely coming back soon
I had a great experience at Dae Bak Korean Restaurant! The food was delicious from start to finish. The seafood pancake was perfectly crispy and packed with flavor — definitely one of the best I’ve had. The bossam was tasty and tender, and the kimchi hotpot with beef hit the spot with its rich, comforting broth. I also love that this place is open late, making it a perfect spot for a late-night Korean food craving. Great food, good portions, and a cozy vibe — I’ll definitely be coming back!
wow! It's seriously on another level! I heard there's a new owner, and you can totally feel the difference. The food is trendy, super flavorful, and really unique compared to other places. The atmosphere is great, and the staff are so attentive and friendly!! you can tell they really care about the customers. The portions are generous, and the prices are totally reasonable for the quality you get. Definitely became one of my new favorite spots
Came here with some friends for late night Korean comfort food and this place slaps 🔥 tried the tuna mayo kimbab, spicy chicken wings, spicy rice cakes and dae bak fries. They were all really good, but you haveeeee to try the lychee soju!! So good!!!
Daeeeeebak! The new menu item, "Dweji Gomtang," a Michelin-star dish in Korea, has arrived. Experience its refreshing taste, perfect for gourmands in the Bay Area. You no longer need to travel to Korea or New York to savor this. It's $16 for the lunch special and $21 for dinner. This is truly daeeeeebak! (See my last photo: soup with kkakdugi radish kimchi) My old review: My favorite dishes at this restaurant are the kettle pot fish cake and budae jjigae, but there are many other choices. The food has a good balance of flavors, and the restaurant is open late. It's a great option for late-night Korean food cravings. The owner is a former Korean professional baseball pitcher (1989-2000, 1988 Seoul Olympics Demonstration Game).
The pork belly is well cooked and seasoned, fried chicken is crispy but blend if without the sauce, the kimchi fried rice is flavorful but not the dry-style fried rice, the steam dumplings are folded differently, the vegetables salad is fresh, the stir fried octopus is flavorful, but the texture is very chewy, and last, the sides dishes are very simple. The waitress is friendly, and there are many Korean alcohol selections.
Always like this place. It’s spacious, food come fast, open till 2am! Great for late dinner. See pics for yummy food. Pretty big portion. We ordered bibimbap, seafood pancake & beef tofu soup (add ramen).
Everything was perfect! Dakgalbi was soooo good. Highly recommend!
This is a great place to have a late night meal. The dishes I ordered are very distinctive and delicious. I have been here many times. It worth be recommend.
This was a real gem I found simply by looking for food at a late hour: they were open till 1:20 AM. However, the food was quite excellent, and I'll happily come again during the day! The complimentary appetisers were all tasty, the spicy baby octopus was delicious with a side of noodles, and the kimchi pancake gave that a nicely pairing flavour.
We had a great dinner. The food was good (kudos to the pork feet!), Though the side dishes were minimalistic in comparison to what you'd expect in a Korean restaurant. The server was ok. There is free parking in the front and back of the restaurant.

Amazing!! The (mushroom) tofu soup 😍🥵 really hit the spot. they were able to make it vegan too! Highly recommend - great that it’s open late too

If you want korean drama, this is the place to get it. Upon entering we noticed a couple outside smoking and kind of taking loud. Once we got in, you get a step back into memory lane, they play 90s rnb to current korean pop music video. The pancake is one of the best I've had. That watermelon soju is there bomb! When we were half way sieving the soju, I crave the rest of the watermelon and we are that along with the soju.
We came for dinner late one night. The atmosphere was casual. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and different than what we are used to for a Korean place. We ordered the corn cheese, pork belly kimchi fried rice and the fried chicken wings. Everything was tasty. The corn and cheese was delicious. The fried rice had lots of pork belly and was seasoned perfectly. The wings were crispy and plump.
Dae Bak might be more of a 3.5/5 than a true 4/5, but I’ve had a good time here in two separate occasions. The kimchi and seafood pancakes are both killer. They are crispy and not too thick, served with a sweet chili sauce. I love their soft tofu soup, and the hot pots aren’t bad either. Spicy beef noodle soup was actually quite bland. The place is open til 2am, and they have lots of soju varieties. There are tables and big booths. People like to celebrate birthdays here. Some of the dishes are overpriced, but that’s every Korean restaurant in this neighborhood. Just stick to the cheaper items, drink lots of soju, and let the atmosphere take care of the rest.
The food here is amazing, with some dishes tasting better than those at other Korean restaurants. A major advantage is that it stays open until 2 a.m., while many other places close much earlier. However, the portions could be larger for the price, and the wait time increases in the evening. Parking is also limited.
Fried Seaweed Roll 4 glass noodles inside, crispy outside, spicy sour sauce Soft Tofu Soup w/ Seafood 3 mild, slightly plain Cheese Fire Chicken 4 sizzling plate, tender, cheesy, slightly sweet, ask for mild, not spicy
I have been here many times over the years and it hasn't gone too downhill. Yes, the quality has taken a hit and the prices have gone through a steep increase, but it is still reasonable compared to the other soju bars in Santa Clara's Ktown. They have a nice selection of alcohol and offer soju in fresh fruits. I am partial to their coconut soju served in a coconut 🥥 and the pineapple soju🍍. They have some basic side dishes on hand because who can go without kimchi for some of these dishes? but you have to ask for it. You may also want rice even though it could taste old but you're too drunk to care. I like their seaweed rolls with vermicelli because they fry it like spring rolls which is quite different from other places. I also recommend the spicy chicken with cheese and the seafood pancake. The kimchi fried rice is decent with the perfectly cooked egg but not the best. I don't recommend the army stew. It's hard to rate the service because it's not consistent. I do really appreciate the hours though, open until 2am everyday. It's popular enough that sometimes I have to wait for a table on a late night weekday. There are only a few spots in front of the store. The other spots are usually for the other stores unless they are closed. However, there is parking around the corner and in the back.
Chicken feet is hard to bite( need to cook longer time) Other dishes are delicious
A great late night snack when burgers & diner food won't do. Tasty food and great drinks. A lil pricey for Korean comfort food, but beats getting microwaved food from other places. Best enjoyed with friends and soju. Staff were pleasant and quick to respond.

Sketchy location that makes me worried for my safety at night. The owner needs to hire more front of house. Poor 2 workers understaffed at night when it's crazy busy. Food quite good!
Ordered a bunch of things. The only thing I decently liked was the tonkatsu. The hotpot and kimchi fried rice were a bit bland. The Korean fried chicken was quite disappointing. Not enough flavour and it wasn’t even crispy

If you’re coming here, it’s not for the food; it’s for the atmosphere and getting together with people. Came here because our friends wanted to, but I wouldn’t ever come here again. The food is bland and needs seasoning. Kimchi fried rice is pretty bland. Spicy chicken is not spicy and also bland. The kalbi was a very small portion and the bulgogi was ok. They also charged us 10.95% for tax when Santa Clara tax should be 9.13% and they hide it on the receipt. The wait staff is prompt and polite; they charged us a 20% service charge.
The good part was that they have chicken feet (bone-in) which is kinda rare and it tasted good, and servers were kind. **However, I feel like the ingredients are not high-quality or they're trying to save some from being stingy with main ingredients, (e.g. sausage in our spicy rice cake (tteobbokki) was low quality; too much rice in spam kimchi roll (kimbap)), which made their food bland. They made mistakes with our order and it was not reflected on the check. We got charged for cheese and a bowl of rice which we did not order nor receive, that could have costed us $5 more if we did not check the receipt before payment.
The only reason we attempted to come here was it closes late. Waiting time was incredibly long and we were starving to death post our half dome hike. However, the sad part was - we ordered a Korean steamed egg, we found out there were egg shells in the steamed egg, which was quite disappointing and disturbing. We also ordered a fried chicken and it tasted worse than a KFC nearby.

***BEWARE**** do not come to this place, Absolutely the worst restaurant with full of scamming customers with menu in entire Santa Clara. We ordered su lung tang and the lady says it’s good and in fact do not order two since you can share and we also ordered duh bok gi. They give us duh bok gi first and takes a long time for su lung tang to arrive To surprise it only had 3 pieces of stripped meat and all noodles??!!? Noodles in a su lung tang? I’ll let the photos do the talking. Wasted our time. This clown of a place.
I'm just saying, if you want some good kimbap, this is NOT the place for it. It's $13 for a slice of cucumber, meat, and white pickled radish - usually a side dish in Korean restaurants (and it's 40% of the filling so the Spicy Tuna Roll is super sour!!!) Yep. Just those 3 ingredients other than the rice and seaweed. Perhaps their other dishes are decent, but I've seen far cheaper kimbap rolls with twice the ingredients. I know this isn't like a specialized kimbap place, but this experience discourages me to try anything else here in the future.
the food are good, but the service are suck we ask for some napkin the service did not bring to us, we have walk to the front desk and ask and bring back our self! The table next to us they ask once for something the service bring them less than 1 min! Maybe because they are Korean! Also they forgot our watermelons drink! Until we are finished eat they still not give to us, we have to ask again and then we wait about 10 min they finally bring to us !after that we sit there wait for bill about 15 min no one come we have to walk to front and pay!
They add a $2-3 to every dish’s menu price without any prior warning for “non cash payment surcharge”, and a 25% service fee even though service is minimal and poor
Ordered food from this place for a nearly $100 and was extremely disappointed. I even called to complain. Garlic fries—a slab of garlic paste put in the box on top of soggy fries Beef tofu soup— basically a tofu soup and appeared to be a left over. There were only 4 slices of tiny beef Beef bulgogi—ugh! Lacks banchan. I got steamed meat with steamed rice. I would not recommend. Go elsewhere
I recently ordered from this Korean restaurant, and I am extremely disappointed. The food I received looked and tasted like leftovers. The presentation was sloppy, and the ingredients seemed old and reheated. The rice was clumpy and dry, the vegetables were soggy, and the meat was tough and flavorless. It’s as if they just threw together whatever scraps they had lying around. I expected a delicious, fresh meal, but instead, I got something that felt like it was scooped out of a trash can. This is unacceptable, especially for the price I paid. I will definitely not be ordering from here again. Save your money and order from somewhere else. 72 dollars by first pic

I suggest that you don't come to this restaurant for dinner. One of the staff members is an elderly woman who didn't take off her blue gloves when she went to the toilet. She was still holding up her pants after she came out of the toilet and then went back to her work. Of course, you can see the menu and the prices of the dishes are very expensive. They could have robbed people of their money but they made unpalatable food for everyone to eat! This meal made me feel uncomfortable! I even didn’t take food photos!
