This food is amazing. Healthy, fresh, fast, affordable.
Beef bento included good portions of beef and vegetables. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the cabbage was perfectly sautéed.
I have eaten many times at Sarku Japan restaurant in Valley Fair Mall San Jose/Santa Clara in the “food court” as people used to call it. I love the chicken teriyaki meal with noodles (or white rice) and vegetables. The meal is prepared right in front of you while you wait. The chicken teriyaki has always been flavored perfectly and cooked just right. I am not overly fond of the vegetable, so I wish management would improve that. The price is fair. Sarku Japan is popular, but if there is a line, it moves quickly. The food court can be busy at times, but there is always available seating. The combo meal comes either with white rice or noodles. I prefer the flavored noodles. And the vegetables are optional, I believe. A drink costs extra or they have free tap water and ice.
Great food as always. Got there right when they ran out of chicken, they cooked some pretty fast.
The most visited food court restaurant in the mall. Expect a line at peak times. Consistency is great. Chicken always tastes the same. I wish they would use more environmentally friendly food packaging.
Sarku is the go to place at Valley Fair food court. Nevermind the efficient order taking and assembly line cooking on top of counter, The Teriyaki chicken with half- half rice & noodles is always fresh, hot and tasty!
Never have had a bad experience here. Can’t recommend it enough. If I HAD to give a criticism, there should be an “extra teriyaki sauce” option for DoorDash.
I love California roll i love sushi. Sushi so good. Try it with soy sauce . Refreshing.
When I say chicken teriyaki, Sarku Japan is the model. I don’t come here looking for Japanese authenticity, but rather their delicious take on chicken teriyaki. I’ve been coming here since the 2010s and is still visiting every so often. Great price for the portion and amount of chicken I receive! I recommend the default chicken teriyaki box with extra chicken. Always a delicious meal with a hint of nostalgia. Recommend!
Ordered online and got a plate with extra meats. Honestly for the prices now a days it wasn't too bad compared to some local spots. Good portion of food while solid flavors. The roll and dumplings were mid but the rest was good.
Always a line, and for good reason. Simple menu, very easy and fast. Their teriyaki sauce is the star of the show.
This is a Japanese/Chinese fast food at the food court in Valleyfair. Their teriyaki chicken is the best with a great price.
Fast service, good prices but its in valley fair so super busy

Now, as i write this review, I'd like you to know that i have not yet been to Japana or any part of Asia but Sarku Japan's Teriyaki chicken has to be one of the best i have had. It also helps that ever since I was a teen, there was an awesome super friendly employee by the name of Strawberry who used to give out samples of the chicken all the time. The chicken is always fresh and hot, and the price point is still fair compared to the rising cost of food in the bay area. I used to only get the white rice, but I recently tried the fried rice and was not disappointed. Don't forget to ask for extra sauce! I rated the atmosphere low because Valley Fair is always busy, and I, for one, dont enjoy it, especially since you have to pay for parking if there for longer than two hours. Helps to walk, bike, or skate if possible. It's easier to get around, in my opinion.
Very good food. Ordered 1 shrimp teriyaki and 1 beef and shrimp teriyaki. They were both delicious and well cooked. The lines can be a bit long but worth the wait. I wouldn’t say it’s exceptional of a place.
Came at around 2pm on a Friday afternoon with a moderate amount of customers. We ordered online through their app and was ready on time. We tried the shrimp 🍤 combo but our usual go to is the chicken. The chicken is good! Ate it so fast all we have left to take a picture of is the container.

Normally wouldn't eat sushi unless it was a restaurant but the food court was packed that day. It still took about the same amount of time if I waited at any other line. It was pretty good. Not the best but 2 rolls was just enough and felt like a pretty health choice. They had my favorite Parrot coconut water so that was a plus. Pricing was pretty fair for the area I was in.
I've eaten at better Sarku's. The meat here doesn't seem like it has the same quality. Of course, the teriyaki sauce makes it all taste great, and the location is convenient. I come here every so often, but it's not amazing
They don’t have sushi anymore, but have California rolls (no fish) The Bendo box very good, good price, big value
I love the way chicken were marinated, it is always so flavorable. It's much better choice to stay away greasy food. I like its simplicity but not plain and it's very enjoyable.
I ordered the Beef Teriyaki. Decent food, however the portion of meat they give is too low given the high price. They fill the container with rice and put only a few pieces of beef. The service speed was fast but it was a bit chaotic due to not knowing which container is your order. This is a mall location, so seating may be hard to find. In summary, a bit too pricey, but a good option for a mall lunch.
This is usually the place I go to everytime I go to this mall due to affordable prices since it's considered fast food and also the quality of the food. Not really authentic Japanese food, but this is good for coming by if you're hungry. Also the fact that the amount of protein of meats are probably high due to serving large portions. The taste of the chicken is alright, but vegetables taste kinda bland. I will still eat here though.
This is one of those that you know is probably not healthy or good for you, but the heavily marinated, grilled teriyaki chicken over rice tastes so good that you decide to forgive yourself for eating it. Conveniently situated in Valley Fair, this is one of my favorite fast food. It is greasy and salty, but quite delicious! I suppose you could ask for extra vegetables to try to balance things out. The only thing that I sometimes worry about is how they handle the cookware between the raw and cooked chicken 🤔🤔🤔
Yummy yummy? Yup pretty much sums it up. The teriyaki chicken plate is pretty good, especially for food court food. You can ask for additional teriyaki sauce and they'll drizzle it over the whole plate. Yummy yummy.

sushi bar has good, cheap sushi, but while waiting for my food I observed unacceptable disregard for contamination. The employees were placing the cooked gyoza and fried shrimp in the same box, in contact with each other. Stay away from this place if you have shellfish allergies!
Chicken not as high quality vs other locations. Prices still high though. Food court has nice ambience but almost none of electrical outlets work
Japanese fastfood at the foodcourt of Westfield Valley fair. they have chicken teriyaki, bento boxes with dumpling, vegetables and california maki. service is fast. Fresh food. Taste is just ok, maybe need a little bit of sauce or seasoning .
I used to love this place 15 years ago... when they had bigger portions, mushrooms and friendlier staff. Food's still good. I asked the guy if they had mushrooms and he was impolite and said no. I stood in line for 10 minutes and they were super shady on the scoops of meat from one person to another. But what do I know, I'm just a customer.

Food was disappointing. Very salty. Out of all the places with similar food this was the least favorite.
I ordered through Door Dash .I paid for extra shrimp.I only had. 6 shrimps in total .Just horrible .Aboud delivery from this place
I was hungry and decided to have dinner. I ordered beef with noodles. I stood and watched - the meat could not have been cooked in time, it just got a crust, but was not ready inside. Chewable like a cork! The noodles are neutral, more no than yes. I did not finish the meat. I hope there will be no problem with the stomach. First and last time👎 They just gave me a plate, this plastic food in a bag, they didn't put it in, I had to ask for a bag myself, the bag is on the other side, where I ordered it, you have to go back. They also don't put cutlery, I had to ask for napkins - they don't even display them, so I could at least take them myself along with the bag and cutlery. Strange service. In the end, I paid about $16 for a bowl of noodles with greens, but I'm not a vegetarian and can't eat just noodles.

4/14/2018 - afternoon time around 3pm - Westfield Valley Fair Mall - I paid for double meat but received only single meat. Not only that, their cook misbehaved with me when I just asked him if my food was double meat. This japanese cook was rude as hell and doesn't deserve to be a server/cook anywhere coz hes going to spit in your food. The cook just vanished when I went there to complain. I complained the manager that his cook was misbehaving and the manager just smiled and said that he will talk to him. As soon as I left the manager was seen making fun of the incident with his co-workers - I took a picture then. The guy smiling is the Manager and his co-worker seen laughing. Wish I had taken a picture of my food to show you. DONT GO HERE! Save yourself and have american food or thai food but NOT SARKU JAPAN!.
Usually I like this place, but today my wife came home with food from here for me and 3 bites in and I find a long hair in my food and that just absolutely ruins my whole day and now I can never eat at this place again, because all I’ll think about is the long hair that was Marinating in my chicken Teriyaki and rice!
I grew up eating the yummy yummy chicken. I loved it but dang the customer service has gone down significantly! All the comments about cashiers being rude are true I've also experienced it. They also close at 8:30pm and stop making new food at 8:00pm. I've asked many times why their hours say they close at 9pm and the Asian guy just said "so I can leave on time" and that's fine but make the hours clear!!!!
Weird. Told us they closed when that’s not accurate on here says they close at 9 and we stood in line for nothing🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Very poor customer service!! They made a mistake on my order, when I informed the last grill cook who gave me my order that it was wrong he got mad at me. I told him I ordered beef and shrimp with noodles and the one he gave me was beef over rice. Then he said I had to wait, he proceeded fillling the other orders after me. I waited at the end of the line for about five minutes and i asked the same guy about my order that's when he finally told the guy taking orders that my was wrong. I had to wait another ten minutes to get my order after repeatedly asking for it. Total disappointment, I spent $18 for a number 5 with bottled water, apple juice and a stale spring roll. Big mistake and I totally regretted choosing this place. Won't go back, that's for sure.
Serious food poisoning. Not only did I constantly vomit, but I had the runs. I will never come here again. For the sake of your health, don’t come to here to buy any food.
Wrong order. No phone number to contact to make correct.
The head staff was so rude i dont know why i just asked for somthing he was so rude very bad never gonna eat from this place again👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
My food was spilled when my order was handed over to me. The disposable bento box was very unstable. I asked if I could get a new order as it was spilled while being handed over. They did not respond. They ignored me totally. Worst customer service. Will not come back.
come here often or order delivery from this place. It used to be one of my favorite spots, but lately the quality has gone down. I always order extra items and I know exactly how my order should look. However, the guys at the serving counter don’t really pay attention — they just scoop and move on. And this isn’t the first time. I understand it can get busy and hot during rush hours, but I even came when there were almost no people — and it happened again. On top of that, my last order had undercooked shrimp. I’m really disappointed with how things have changed. The guys at the counter are just not attentive. But the cashier is great — polite and attentive. I’ll update my review if things improve.
Lord this is nasty, even when I’m hungry. First and last time here.

if i could give this a 0 star for service i would. this place has zero Accommodations for allergies.. I tried to order the beef bento box and told the guy at the register that I was allergic to crab and if I could switch the California rolls with something different like perhaps extra dumplings instead and he told me no, i’ve never had any problems with accommodations with any restaurant til today with Sarku. However, i asked him if he could just take out the california rolls entirely and he said no.. then said “get the normal teriyaki plate with dumplings on the side” which ended up being more money then the bento box.. my order was teriyaki combo with dumplings on the side for 18$ and the bento is 14$ .. being charged extra money just because this restaurant cannot accommodate allergies is crazy. on top of that they gave me the tiniest amount of teriyaki (which was tasty) .. first and last time ever coming here would never recommend. paying almost 20 bucks for rice and veggies is ridiculous.
