Good old fashioned “Coffee Shop” style American Restaurant. Older decor, but well kept. Food was hot and fresh, portions were large, and service was top notch. Reasonable pricing.

We recently decided to stop in for brunch while out running errands on a Saturday morning and were very pleased. The atmosphere was relaxed and comforting, the food was great and the service was excellent! We'll definitely be going back again soon. Good job Jeffrey's!

We just had a very wonderful experience and have found a new favorite in Santa Cruz. The service was very friendly and fast. From walking in the door to our delicious food served was only 15 minutes. Our server Lisa was very attentive and made the experience feel like we were family. Food was fresh and more than adequate proportions. Overall exceptional experience.

What a hidden gem! This is the diner of my youth, cozy, clean and full of kindness. Kids were happy with all the Jr’s Club Menu options, my husband loved his grilled club and fries, and the minestrone house soup of the day was exactly what I was craving. Jeffrey's is always a good experience. A friend took me to lunch. I had the taco salad 1/2 of a taco salad off the senior menu and it was wonderful. You can have the salad with chicken or beef. It was fresh and tasty. The service was exceptional. The food was fresh and served very tastefully. I've been going there for years and it seems like it's better than ever. I highly recommend this family restaurant.

The other day, I was getting my car serviced, and I asked the service manager where I could get breakfast. He recommended Jeffery's to me. I walked to the restaurant and loved it. This morning, I took the entire family. We had eggs and omelets and waffles. It was wonderful. Jeffery's is clean. They cook quickly. The family and I were seated immediately even when the parking lot seemed full. The staff was friendly and attentive, something that so many places lack these days. I highly recommend Jeffery's.

Large portions, friendly staff. Classic dinner food served up fast. They kept the coffee full and the waitress was very attentive and seemed to know her regulars. Was just as welcoming to the out of towners as they were to the locals.

My husband & I live near here! Sometimes we walk! The wait staff is delightful! The crowd tends to be older. The atmosphere is that of a diner! The food is simple, straight forward, and affordable! They have generous portions and a senior menu which we like. Their hamburgers are very good & the price is more affordable than many! Their raw and cooked veggies are very fresh!

This place is great if you’re looking for a true diner experience! The food and staff here are great. The portion sizes are good and everything is just really delicious. My favorite dish to order has been the fried chicken.

Fun diner with a huge selection of classical dishes and great service. The kids menu is great with big, tasty dishes. A few more vegetarian entrees would have been nice.

The whole dining experience was great, but our waitress really made it memorable. She was absolutely wonderful and introduced us to her graveyard shift special (a cinnamon roll concoction that I'd absolutely recommend if you're lucky enough to have it suggested) and was completely accommodating of our every odd request. She also seemed to be vaguely psychic about what we wanted and when we wanted it, very cool.

Food has been consistently good here! Just had an amazing cheese burger. The best burger I've had in a bit.

My boyfriend and I come here at least once a month. And if im not with him, im here with my best friend. Every single server here is the best. They're so attentive and friendly. Not to mention the food is RIDICULOUSLY good. Make sure to get the double bacon burger with a chocolate milkshake. Trust me on this. 😉

a gem of a spot - they dont make them like this anymore great service, its clear they care here. ribeye steak & eggs - medium rare & overeasy, respectively - were perfectly cooked, if a tad underseasoned for me (which might be perfect if you’re on low sodium) pancake stack on the side was giant fluffy and chewy. a+ hash browns golden and crispy good unsweetened iced tea. not watered down. ive gotten the fried chicken here before and it was also perfectly fried. quiet, friendly, conversational. why does this beat almost any other restaurant in town for date night atmosphere?

Absolutely the best Monte Cristo sandwich I've had in 40 yrs. Traditional way of making it dipped in egg batter and Deep Fried like they did in the 80's at Belmont's own Iron Gate Restaurant. Best food ever. So many great menu choices. We will be back soon!

Everytime I have gone to Jeffery's the food has been excellent! Their eggs Benedict is out of this world, delicious cheeseburgers, yummy deserts and fast and friendly service. Absolutely delicious we all got burgers , the bacon the perfectly cooked , the burgers were big and filling . The fries were good the potato salad was good . The waitress was friendly . The diner looked clean. It was a nice chill atmosphere. Not too loud or too busy. If I wasn’t a tourist I’d be a regular. When we come back next year we’re definitely going to eat here again.

Been here a couple times this year. I stopped by for my meal break. Had 40mins, I was able to order and enjoy my breakfast in less than 30mins. Was here around 9:30a. Staff I spoke with during my visit were friendly and took the time to mingle with me. I ordered the breakfast plate. It was good and plenty of food. I had food leftover to take with me to go. Only $14 with coffee.

This place is amazing!!! If you want a quiet place to sit down and have a home cooked meal, this is the place to come! Luckily we found this place still open since lots of places in Santa Cruz close early. It was so good the first time we ended up going back the next day for a early dinner before heading back home for our 16 hour drive. The food was amazing, ribeye was cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes were on point. I still have a favorite place of course there in Cruz, but this is a close very very close to them. The people there are humble and attentive, always making sure your ok, but not to much, but enough to where you feel you've known them forever! Yes... we will be going back there to eat. Amazing so around!!!

The fried shrimp platter is also very good highly recommend with rice pilaf. They have several options to choose from and reasonable prices. The service is good as well definitely give it a try!

Serving up diner classics 24 hours a day! Plenty of comfy seating inside. Soft lighting, always seems to have people here. Nice cozy feel, good for groups or solo dining. Warm syrup and whipped butter served with French toast and pancake items. I got the blueberry pancakes, 4 large pancakes served in the short stack. Added peanut butter on the side and fresh strawberries for $1.75. Loaded with blueberries, I felt so satisfied. Matt got the French toast and a side of scrambled egg and hash browns. Everything is portioned big and you leave feeling happy. This is a gem of a spot and I’m so glad they’re open all the time! Plenty of free parking in their lot.

I was very surprised at how many dishes were available on the menu. The food was fresh and tastey. Our server was a nice man who took VERY good care of us. It was about $100 for 5 adults with full entrees ,drinks and dessert. We will for sure be back.

Service was quick and friendly. Breakfast food was good. Had hash brown potatoes, egg easy over, 2 sausages, sour dough toast and coffee. The only item was needed is flavored creamers. What was served was half and half creamer. My husband was slightly disappointed at not getting flavored creamer. Overall everything was enjoyable.

Dude! A staple of Santa Cruz for sure!! Back in the day, it used to be open 24 hours, a go-to spot after Fast Eddie's. Our hostess and waiter were prompt, and the food came out steaming.

Jeffery's is a favorite! Service is excellent. Food is superb. I just wish the staff wouldn't crash the dishes when clearing tables. I like a calm relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy my meal. Except for crashing dishes (even when not busy) it's a perfect place.

Dezari is an awesome waitress. The bacon is not to standard but the Pancakes are fire!

I have going here for years. The service is always great. Food is well prepared. I had breakfast and my eggs were cooked perfect. Bacon crisp not burned. If you go between 8-11am be sure to ask about their scramble special - it is the best breakfast deal on the menu.

We just had dinner with friends, it was close to their closing time but the hostess had a great attitude and was nice They sell out on a lot of dishes so I don’t recommend eating too late on a Friday night. Overall good value and good food.

The wife and I found Jeffery's, on a trip to Santa Cruz many years ago, and have eaten there several times, as it has become our go to kind of coffee shop when in the area. It is a kind of local's diner, in a small strip mall, between Santa Cruz and Capitola. The last time we ordered breakfast off the Senior menu, while the brother-in-law had his usual chicken fried steak. The portions off the regular menu are normally generous, while the Senior menu will save you a couple of bucks. The servers are friendly, and the orders are normally to the table fairly quickly, plus the variety of items on the menu give you plenty of options. It's not fancy, but the prices seem to be in line with most others, and the quality is pretty consistent, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I love a "greasy spoon" place and this spot hasn't changed, as you can tell from the faded sign. prices are great for what you get, except for the monte cristo sandwich, which is the best I've ever had anywhere. They used to have a great selection of pies, but now it's just lemon meringue or apple. If the pies come back I'll bump it up to 5 stars. The service is always fast and friendly, and the wait staff appreciates a good joke.

Good food, and friendly service. Prices seemed higher than expected for diner food, but I'd go back. Update 1/2/23: Service was still fine, Several food item were just ok, mashed potatoes were bland, the nachos very greasy, and hot wings lacked any seasoning or sauce to make them "hot" wings. Other food items were very good, so I'll continue trying Jeffrey's when in the area.

Went for prime rib special night. It was adequate and there is better elsewhere. Also ordered calamari appetizer which was chewy and not very good. There is a senior's menu for 60+ which brings people in. It never seems that busy.

Ribeye syeak and eggs wasn't the best. Steak had nerve in it and eggs were scrambled too hard. Service was good!

It was better than I expected! I was on a road trip visiting relatives the week before Christmas and just looking for a diner for a quick lunch when I found Jeffrey's. It was mid-afternoon and they weren't very busy, so other times might different, but I was very pleased with my experience. It was clean and welcoming, the waitress and kitchen were efficient (my order came quickly), the patty melt was great, and the salad I substituted for fries was much better than I expected. Altogether, a very nice place.

Wonderful service and an extensive menu. Pancakes were light, fluffy and hot, eggs cooked to perfection.

My monte cristo was limp, with so little filling all i could taste was the under soaked bread and the strawberry it was topped with was spoiled. The fries were excellent as was the salad. Good service. I only go here a few times a year so I was disappointed as this has always been a terrific sandwich.

This was a good place to eat bringing back memories of old school coffee shops like SHIPS in Los Angeles. Plenty of booths and counter seating serving breakfast lunch and dinner. Food was tasty and the service was good. We had the chicken nuggets kids meal which came with fries and 10 chicken nuggets and we also got the prime rib and shrimp.platter. Serving portions were huge for everyone. Overall a good experience.

While the food is good it is overpriced. Coffee is $4.50! They are currently uncharging 50 cents per egg. Eggs no longer cost more to purchase.

The food was just alright and the customer service was really lacking. We had to ask several times for refills as the waitress did not come back and ask if we needed anything. When being seated, the host pointed to a booth for us to sit, then dropped off menus and walked away. It just didn’t feel like a welcoming environment, coupled with having to wait quite a while to place our order and receive the food.

This place believes they are a fine dining restaurant. Unfortunately, their prepared food tastes like a low end Denny's food. The capucinos tasted like instant coffee with whipped cream. The potatoes tasted like deep fried crispy chunks. No seasoning. Omelette tasted pretty good but waaaay overpriced. Not bad, but overpriced. The waitresses were very polite and helpful. I give the customer service 5 stars. Food preparation and deliciousness would be an average 3 stars. I would rate the prices at 1 star. The cleanliness was disgusting. There was an over powering urine smell from both bathrooms. The floors were disgusting and dirty. The toilet seats in both bathrooms were gross. There was urine all over the seats and all around the toilet and urinals. The floors were muddy, sticky and disgusting. If the staff, won't clean the bathrooms, how well are they cleaning the kitchen I would rate the cleanliness of this place as 1 star. So, the total rating for the restaurant is 2 stars.

Very blank food, and way overpriced for the oversized McDonald's chicken nuggets I ordered. My son said his burger was alright, but unfortunately my chicken strips were not very good, neither was the biscuits and gravy that we ordered. As I said everything was very bland, tailored more for the type of average elderly clientele. I've tried Jefferies twice now and still was not impressed. This is one that I probably never coming back to again. And as for our waitress, she was kind of rude, made us wait for a while before taking our order because she helped the people that walked in 15 minutes after we did because she recognized them and decided to chat them up and start taking their orders when we had sat there for almost 20 minutes with not even a water.

I ordered a steak medium rare and it came out well done. They said that they would cook me a new one. I said to bring it out rare and it came out well done again. This was not the first time this happened to me. Waitresses are good accept Allex. She is always yawning and complaining about beings tired and not wanting to be there

At first, I thought this is a good restaurant because I went there earlier and the service was pretty good. But this time, I couldn’t use the bathroom peacefully because not only did the customers kept knocking the door, the wait staff was knocking , too; despite the fact that I literally just went in there. The waitress claimed that there was a line waiting but there’s only one guy waiting for WASH HIS HANDS. Although the other customers were at fault for complaining (the other customer was being melodramatic and claimed that I’ve been in the bathroom for over 30 mins, which is obviously a lie) , I believe the waiters could have handle the situation better than they did.

Had lunch with my family here, the food was “alright”. Definitely not worth its price whatsoever. The employees were really rude, and kept just cussing and socializing to the point where they were the only things you could hear throughout the whole restaurant. Also, the waiter was very rude, when my little brother asked if he could have more chocolate milk, he yelled “NO REFILLS!! YOU PAY FOR MORE” to the point where my little brother wanted to cry. I recommend you go somewhere else. Terrible quality food, comically bad service, and unjustified outrageous prices.

She’s rude, talks down to customers, never came back to check on us, just totally rude , and spent most of her time on her phone,,she just did what a novice waitress would do but all fake. – A Major Letdown We were on a **road trip**, looking for a good place to stop and eat, something a little better than Denny’s, which was our son’s choice. We relied on the good reviews, but oh, how wrong we were! The **calamari** was a disaster—not even rings, just chewy, oily chunks. The tartar sauce was the only decent thing on the plate. The **country chicken** was a contradiction in itself: somehow both oily and dry. The **mashed potatoes** had a strange, gluey texture, and the **vegetables** were overcooked into oblivion. My husband’s **burger**? Mediocre at best. And my **country chicken** (if you can call it that) seemed more like an old slab of meatloaf, poorly disguised under a stale Italian breading. The **hash browns** were clearly reheated, unevenly cooked, and soaked in oil. The **gravy** was a bland, gray blob with zero flavor. As for the **biscuits**, they were large but tasted stale and reheated. Surprisingly, the **chicken soup** that came with the dinner was decent—nothing spectacular, but at least it was warm and seasoned properly, which is more than I can say for the rest of the meal. On the bright side, the **service** was friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly, and the portions were generous. The **ambience** was that of a classic diner—clean and decent. Even the bathrooms were well-maintained. But the food? **Utterly disappointing.** There seems to be a serious lack of communication between the kitchen and the waitstaff—something we overheard while dining. Unfortunately, no amount of good service or diner nostalgia can make up for the awful meal we had. **If you’re on a road trip and looking for a satisfying meal, keep driving—this isn’t the place.** We won’t be back.

The servers were unprofessional! It took 20 minutes for her to come and take our orders, when she finally came over we started to order the server looked at us and said that she wasn't ready to take our orders and then walked away. When we finally order it took 25 minutes to get our food. To make this trip even worst after I finished eating I saw that there was a bug on my plate and my water cup was dirty! I will never eat here again.

The restaurant was dirty. The table I sat at was sticky and the silverware at the place settings was actually dirty as well. Food from a past meal was still stuck, caked on, to a few spoons (pictures attached). The wait staff also didn't acknowledge my presence nor that of my friends' for nearly 20 minutes. The people at a neighboring table also left after not being served for a similar amount of time. It was an Unpleasant experience and will be dining elsewhere in the future

I visited this restaurant during a business trip to Santa Cruz, having had a great experience at a similar location in my hometown before it closed permanently. So, I was pleased to discover it in Santa Cruz. I was seated quickly, which was nice. When I inquired about a breakfast labeled “special” that didn’t have a description, the waiter told me it included only eggs, bacon, and cheese, so I ordered it without cheese. However, when the dish arrived, I noticed it was mixed and filled with mushrooms, which he hadn’t mentioned. I asked him twice. The bacon was mostly fat with very little meat, and the eggs were dry. I picked at it, as I was hungry and in a rush, but I had to remove all the mushrooms, and the bacon was inedible. I also had to remind the waiter to bring my fruit, which was not fresh. He never checked on me. Overall, the meal was disappointing and definitely not worth $20 for a couple of dry eggs with undercooked, fatty bacon. I won’t be returning to this place. When I tried to express my dissatisfaction to the cashier, all he could say was, “Sorry, lady.”

DO NOT GET THE FIESTA BURRITO! It seemed as though the meat inside my burrito was leftover meatloaf. It was leaking a watery substance. The rice was hard and tasted like rice pilaf that they had attempted to convert into Spanish rice. The beans were definitely canned, and sadly they were the only semi edible part of the meal. The waiter saw that I did not want my food and he was gracious about it. He offered to get me something else but by then I wasn't even in the mood to eat anymore. He was very kind and he took that meal off of my bill. I know it's not his fault that the meal was nasty and I appreciated his hospitality. My family had other food including a burger, wings and appetizers which seemed to be decent. My other family member had chicken nachos which, apparently were also awful and practically inedible... as far as the atmosphere, it wasn't the cleanest. The bathrooms smelled awful, cups were dirty, and there was a live bug on the table... my take away for all of this is perhaps, if you do go here, DO NOT order mexican food, and the owners should do a better job maintaining cleanliness within their establishment.
