Stopped in this afternoon for bagel sandwich! Got me the olli, an a sesame seed bagel. It was pretty darn good I wish a little more turkey was in there. The bagel is very crunchy and chewy nice texture. The turkey and the pesto had a great flavor. I was able to park on the side road, I've been here on the weekend and it's been very crowded. Today I just walked in and ordered straight away. Great place I will be back!
The bagel was decent, though the ingredients seemed quite basic, something one could easily make at home. However, the sauce they added really amped up the flavor. Be ready for a potentially long wait as the line tends to be quite lengthy. Seating is extremely limited, so it's wise to have a backup plan for where to eat. Honestly, it didn't strike me as anything particularly special, so returning soon isn't high on my list. Maybe on a relaxed Saturday when I've got more time, I'll give it another shot.
I came here for breakfast and had an amazing experience. I got a bagel with salmon, and it was great. The ingredients tasted super fresh, especially salmon, and the cream cheese was just the right amount, not too much, not too little. I got everything bagel, it was nicely toasted, and the combination with the salmon was perfect. Simple, but done really well. The size of the bagel is good for one person. I was kind of hungry and got pretty full. I also had a cup of coffee, and it was good, smooth and flavorful, definitely better than average breakfast spot coffee. It paired really nicely with the bagel and made the whole meal feel complete. The location is what I really liked. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area with plenty of tables, so it was easy to find a spot (at 9am at least) to enjoy your food. It’s a great place to sit outside, especially on a nice day. The vibe is calm and cozy, perfect for a slow morning. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the staff made the experience even better. They were quick, which I appreciated. Overall, I had a great time here and would definitely come back. I really want to try their other bagels. This place is a solid choice for having a breakfast.
Good standard NY bagel. They don't skimp on the seeds, which I always appreciate. I had a delicious Marli sandwich on everything with avocado, pickled onion, chili flakes and sprouts. It was fresh and tart and exactly what I want out of this sandwich, it's really just too bad it's so pricey at $7 for a half and $12 for a whole. My partner had an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. We also split a sesame bagel, which was also food. We arrived around 12:15pm on a Saturday and waited in line about 20min and only about 5 for the food.
Such a good bagel spot! Their bagels are the perfect balance between crunchy exterior and soft interior. I love their prejam and the Laika. Their bagels are a bit pricey but I think the quality is worth the price. I wish they had parking though. When crowded, parking is scarce, tables are full, and the wait time can be a bit long.
The last time I had a bagel I loved I was in New York City over the summer. Nothing has compared since. So when I went to visit my family in LA, I was surprised when my cousin said he wanted to take me to a bagel shop. I thought, “Okay…” I was skeptical. We pull up and there is a long line. It goes quick, I promise, and it is 100% worth it. Layla’s Bagels blew my mind! There is sooo much flavor and high quality bagels. This isn’t your standard bagel either, there were no holes in them. You’ll see two prices. It’s for either a whole or half of the bagel. I did two different halves. I did the Scarlet and the Marli. The Scarlet blew me away! The Marli was good but I wouldn’t get it again. I would highly recommend using the everything bagel, holy cow was it good! The fresh orange juice was solid too. They also have Vegan cream cheese in case you have issues with dairy. This is easily the best bagel I had outside of NYC! Update: On a return trip to Layla’s I had the Pre-Jam… the Pre-Jam. Wow was this amazing! I didn’t want to eat anything after because I wanted to keep the flavor as long as I could. 100% will get this on every return trip. Enjoy!
Best bagel in LA. Crispy and chewy. Layla bagel offers great value of bagel comparing to other populat places. However, dont try Matcha Cream I wouldnt try it once again even if they give it for free. I suggest the owner to visit other Matcha place and aee how other places make it. I still give 5 star because its bagel is untouchable and Layla is bagel shop.
The bagels were absolutely excellent, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. I also tried the passion fruit matcha, and it’s simply the best matcha I’ve ever had. The balance of flavors was amazing and so refreshing! The team is sooo friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Such a warm atmosphere and a great place to relax and enjoy high-quality food and drinks. Highly recommend!
My all time favorite place to grab brunch in LA. The laika bagel, the Scarlett, and the fruit one are chefs kiss. And the coffee! My bf always gets the spicy bec with avocado. The people who work here (Luke and Chris) are super nice. And they have a nice loyalty program for the regulars like myself.
I’ve had Laylas so many times and have never left a review because it’s a name that speaks for itself! It’s famous in the area and already has a line out the door but for good reason! I get the Scarlett every time, my husband also switches it up but normally gets the seasonal fruit bagel which is always just such a treat! This is my favorite bagel spot I’ve ever been to, I say it with my full chest that this is better than every New York bagel I’ve tried. I hope they make more locations!
Matcha review: I am YET to try a bagel which is embarrassing for obvious reasons, but Layla has an excellent matcha. Their cream top slaps, if you do dairy. Otherwise they have a solid regular matcha latte, hot or iced. The atmosphere is so bright and uplifting, and there is literally always a crowd/line (in a good way). I think it speaks for itself. Even weekdays are popping, but the line is totally doable. I come for matcha from time to time, but can’t wait to be back for a bagel because they look bomb.
I’ve tried bagel shops in New York and all over, and I can honestly say these were the best bagels I’ve ever had. Perfectly chewy, fresh, and full of flavor. I ordered a variety: The B.A.T. (bacon, arugula, tomato with aioli) was crisp and savory, the Laika (smoked salmon, tomato, cucumber, pickled onions, capers with herb cream cheese) was a classic done to perfection, and the Samson (tuna salad, avocado, tomato, dill) was fresh and filling. Sammi’s Egg Sammy (scrambled eggs, aged cheddar, and arugula with chermoula) had so much flavor, while the Scarlett (heirloom tomato, lemon zest, chili flakes with cream cheese) was simple but bold. The Pre-Jam stood out — I really liked that it uses seasonal fruit instead of being fixed, which makes it feel creative and different each time. Every bagel I tried had its own personality, and honestly, not a single miss.
Love how you can order half bagels. There is often a line in the morning so be prepared. Hot tip: order ahead for pickup so your order is ready when you get there so you don’t have to wait in line. Tried the Laika and pre-jam. Both excellent flavor.
Me, and a couple of my classmates were studying for our finals, and we decided to stop here for a quick bite. However it was my first time, and I absolutely loved the quality, and taste. To be honest it was amazing and I ate the whole thing, I also loved it was healthy as well. I will definitely come back.
Best bagels in LA. Always hit the spot. I love the plain bagels with cream cheese but they also have so many cool specialty bagels I feel like you can't get anywhere else in LA. It's usually somewhat busy but I preorder most of the time which makes the whole process much easier so I recommend doing that. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. I recommend Layla for anyone who wants a delicious bagel that keeps you full!
The pre-jam bagel was out of this world. I have never had a sweet bagel like that before but this one changed my mind. The kumquat was so unique but the flavors were perfect. Also got a an iced matcha latte which was solid. Sammy’s egg Sammy was a great savory option. The chermoula on it was a bit different and a little spicy but a good addition. My friend ordered the Laika which I had a bite of and to my surprise I liked it a lot! I’m usually not a fan of lox but the flavors were very good! Pictured last is the scarlet with heirloom tomatoes and lemon zest. Such a fresh combo which was also delicious. Not much seating inside and it was pretty crowded Saturday morning so we didn’t find a spot outside either.
I mean…..perfection. Also, I really appreciated their attention to detail on how they care for guests who have mobility needs. It doesn’t go unnoticed 🙌🏽

We went here everyday during our holiday in Santa Monica and LA. Great place for a breakfast bagel. The sesame bagel with tomato, chili and lemon is amazing! I really recommend going here. 😮💨
Great spot. Bagels are fresh, toppings are generous, and the vibes are good. Quick service too. Highly recommend!
They do a great job delivering gourmet food at reasonable prices. I had the sammy which is basically an egg sandwhich but the ingredients they use make it a special experience. The eggs are fluffy and delcious, the bagel one of the best in LA, the arrugula fresh and tasty, and just a touch of cheese and sauce. It's all perfect. It's just hard to get out of their without buying those amazing looking cookies and treats so will need to work out a bit at the gym and come back soon!
Layla Bagels is the new bagel spot in town~ They serve delicious and authentic New York-style bagels in Santa Monica. Founded by a group of friends who were homesick for the classic flavors of their hometown, this cozy cafe has quickly become a go-to destination for bagel lovers across the city. The cozy, laid-back atmosphere of Layla Bagels is the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal or catch-up session with friends. I loved the clean aesthetic and no frills look that this bagel spot has! 🍽️Ordered: 1. The Scarlett on an everything bagel 💰10 The Scarlett has heirloom tomato, lemon zest, and chili flakes with cream cheese. I was immediately drawn to this one because of the heirloom tomato and it did not disappoint! The bagel was sooo refreshing with the notes of the lemon zest and slices of fresh tomato. I loved how chewy the bagel was and it def compares to my favorite- Courage Bagel. want to come back and try their bagel with fresh fruit and jam next time
the bagels are no longer as tough, which is really nice. I’ve enjoyed the heirloom tomato bagel here before and it’s one of my favorites in the city. sadly, this time around, it didn’t have the punch that it usually does. it was good, but the chili flakes were absent along with the lemon zest. (And if they were there, they were muted.) good, but not at its best.
Impressed it actually lived up to the hype. The addition of cucumber to their lox bagel was interesting in a good way as it added an earthiness and a thicker bite. I like that the lox wasn’t paper thin and actually had some chew to it — they also tasted exactly like the Kirkland smoked, no shame if it is, it’s the best in the game. I really liked the pickled onion because they add sweetness and acidity as well as the inclusion of lemon zest over juice because it added acidity without unnecessary moisture. I was also surprised at how much I like The Mia. The avocado was super creamy, perfectly salted and I loved how the Fresno chilis cut through the fat. The greens were also well seasoned and added pepperiness. While I did enjoy the pile of toppings, they just kind of fall off and make the bagel harder to eat than it needed to be. Layla Bagels is still maybe a bit fancy for my taste, but definitely worth the experience.
There’s been bagel shops popping up all over LA the past few years and I’m all here for it. The price here is pretty decent compared to *cough* another popular bagel shop in LA. The bagels here though I’m not sure if it’s as good. It’s a little bit more bready. But still, really great quality, esp with the bagel sandwiches. They have some limited outdoor seating, and you’ll have to find street parking (which wasn’t too hard to find).
On our drive from Santa Barbara to San Diego, I made a quick stop in Santa Monica to try the famous Layla Bagels! I ordered the Laika, with one half topped with avocado and the other with vegan cashew cream cheese. My boyfriend went for the spicy egg and cheese bagel. We arrived around 1:30 and were in and out with our to-go order in about 15 minutes, so the wait wasn’t bad. However, I was a bit disappointed that the sesame seed bagels we both got felt a little stale and were tougher to bite into than I’d hoped. The toppings were delicious, but I was expecting the bagels themselves to be fresher—maybe because we came later in the day?
I've had this place marked to try for a while now. My wife and I sometimes go out for breakfast, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the lux bagels and the heirloom tomatoes bagel, and bought a few plain bagels to go. The bagels were all phenomenal, the best I've ever had, even though I'm not a bagel person and picky if I ever do eat them. So a definite 5 for the bagels. However, I think they are way too heavy-handed with the cream cheese, which really overpowers everything else. I feel like the mixes are really nice, so there's no need to put out so much cream cheese, which isn't very healthy anyway. We also tried the latte, which was pretty good. The service overall was great, and the staff was very friendly. If you're looking for great bagels, this is a definite must. The only things that stood out to me were that the salmon lux wasn't the best I've had, the heirloom tomatoes didn't seem to be really heirloom but just regular tomatoes, and the overwhelming amount of cream cheese. The reason I'm giving them a 4 is because of the overall experience, but not their bagels. **Ratings:** * Bagels: 5/5 * Cream cheese: 1/5 * Service: 5/5 * Coffee: 4/5 * Quality of goods used: 3/5 Overall: 4/5
Can say its a great place especially to kick your day off for the morning. We came from a road trip for a concert and stopped by and wasn’t disappointed and well worth the wait. The bagels are good just the one I got which was the everything was a bit too hard along with the strawberry matcha that lacked the strawberry aspect. Overall it is a must to come if you’re in the area and it will leave your hunger satisfied.
Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and overall really enjoyed it. I have known about this place for quite some time because it is popular on social media and when I arrived at 9:30 on Saturday morning, there was at least 8 people in line in front of me already. Most people choose to get to go because there are not really inside tables, this place is more standing room only. There isn’t dedicated parking however you can do valet for this group of shops or the easiest thing to do is just find free street parking, which is what we did. They make the order pretty quickly however it’s usually very busy so it’s not going to be the fastest turnaround given that most likely there will be a few people in line in front of you. Overall, I thought the bagels were a bit chewy but still very good. I will say that some of the flavor combinations are a bit more female centered, and it seems that that is most of their clientele from my visit. You won’t find a lot of meat, cheese, or even a deluxe lox bagel like some other places we have had recently. We ordered a few different items. To drink was the Salted Maple Latte, which I thought was fantastic however for $9 it was overpriced. You get smaller than a tall sized portion at Starbucks and so I thought the pricing was a bit skewed. To eat we tried the Scarlett, which I really enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes and it made for a unique bagel combination. Next, we ordered the Mia, which is basically avocado and no cream cheese and I opted for no pickled onions. This one was OK, it was a bit boring so I would not recommend. I think that if there would be some crunch or spice to it, it would improve it. We also ordered the Spicy B.E.C., which is their breakfast sandwich and honestly, we weren’t very big fans of it. Jyan Isaac next-door has a much better version and I didn’t like this thick cut bacon, I’m much more prefer crispy. Overall, I really like this place however, I thought that Jyan Isaac next-door was even better because I tried them the previous weekend. Layla bagels are a bit chewy and I wish they would have a little more diverse flavor options, but understand that they really cater to their female clientele specifically.
I enjoyed my visit- it was pleasant. I went in the morning around 830A and just a few people in line. Not crowded at all. Sweet and friendly service. Not a huge menu: simple but perfect . I liked that I can order half a bagel! I got the Scarlet- had cream cheese, tomato and chili flakes. I also got the vanilla latte with cream top. Will definitely come back to try other items. The bagel itself was delicious. I got the everything bagel and it was perfectly made! Cute vibes.
There was a line, but the service was quick and kind. The menu was clear and concise. I bought the bagel with herb cream cheese, capers, pickled onions and tomato. Very flavorful didn't need extra salt/pepper. The Salted Maple Latte was very pleasant, good quality. Def give it a go if you're in the area. Cute shops to strolll around with your favorite coffee from Layla's!
Not plenty of seating so avoid peak times if you’re planning to eat in. They have rotating seasonal prejam flavors so check out their instagram for that. The spicy egg sandwich was just okay, I didn’t taste much of the aioli sauce. Prejam had blackberries with honey but their lox tops everything else.
Really good bagels! We got the laika, the heirloom tomato one, and the raspberry/kumquat one and they were all top notch. Great flavor combos and I'd highly recommend all three. I wish they were a little easier to eat, especially since they don't have a lot of seating so we ended up eating them sitting on the ledge by the soccer field. Line is always long so definitely plan for that.
Always craving a breakfast bagel, I finally checked out Layla Bagels after hearing the hype. I ordered the Laika (lox bagel) and the spicy BEC (bacon, egg, cheese). The Laika was tasty, classic and satisfying. The spicy BEC had a good kick thanks to the jalapeño. The bagels themselves were solid: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. parking is limited, and the place gets busy fast. If you’re planning to snack by the tables you may need to wait, seating fills up quickly. I thought the bagels were a little overpriced but overall good flavor and taste

"Dude, mine tastes kinda burnt" - my gfs exact words after her berating me for literal hours to hit this place up. To be fair though, she can't tell the difference between matcha and avocado ice cream. She ordered Curry which she has never liked and proceeded to be disappointed.... I ordered the spicy egg and it was so good that I only got to eat half. Don't come here for the bagels, come here for the memories
Layla Bagels offers a commendable range of flavors, from the classic sesame to inventive salmon-infused options. The variety selection along with amazing presentation is undoubtedly a highlight, providing a diverse experience for bagel enthusiasts. However, my overall satisfaction is tempered by a consistent issue – the bagels tend to be on the harder side. While the flavors are delightful, the texture often leans towards an unwelcome toughness that detracts from the expected chewiness of a quality bagel. This hardness, unfortunately, becomes a prevailing characteristic across their menu. It's disappointing as the promise of a perfect bagel experience is overshadowed by the challenging texture. Despite this setback, I appreciate Layla Bagels' dedication to innovation and flavor diversity. A three-star rating seems fitting, acknowledging the positives while emphasizing the need for improvement in achieving the desired softness and consistency in their bagels.
The breakfast sandwich wasn't great... Was kind of hard to chew and the sauce was all you could taste, and it wasn't great. The open face bagels looked delicious though and maybe those would be better to try. Line was out the door and food came out really quickly though!
Decent bagels. A bit overpriced. Their fancy bagels are not the best I’ve had. The bagels in general are mid range. Beverly Hills Bagels across the street from their new location is legitimately better bagels. If that’s what you’re looking for. But if you want the Instagram worthy pretty bagel then this place is a solid place to check out.
Overhyped given the $…bagels themselves were rocckkkk hard but at least the lox & veggies were fresh and tasty

Bagels are okay, if you like store bought smoked salmon. Didn’t like that cashier didn’t offer to replace drink which was asked to be iced, so we threw it away.
