I love diners, and this one is super quirky. There is so much to look at in there, and nothing really even goes together, but it's fun. The chair cushions are a bit stained, there was only one person to help everyone, and the menus felt a bit sticky, which made my friend and I say uh oh to each other, but be patient and kind, and don't let this turn you away, because the food was absolutely fresh and delicious! And the hospitality refreshing. On the advice of the nice woman running everything, we ordered the cod fish tacos (so great!!) And one of the burgers and fries (also absolutely delicious!). Everything tastes homemade and super fresh. We will definitely be back. Sorry no pics. I took one bite and just stayed focused on enjoying the meal. Totally forgot about getting a picture.
This place was honestly much better than I expected. Service was absolutely phenomenal. Any place that all the employees are genuinely happy all the time is such a great sign. I don't think we could have been more cared for. I got the Pot of Gold burger with sweet and sour sweet potato fries and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. If you get that make sure you come hungry, portions are huge! I had to finish it later on after we left. All in all a wonderful experience. Definitely want to come back to try their fish n chips which they are apparently known for.
Had a fantastic meal with my niece yesterday at Patrick's Roadhouse. Although it appeared the whole place was being served by one waitress and one cook, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent. My burger was huge and juicy (I just got the regular burger) and the fries were seasoned to perfection. My niece loved her french toast and the all the fun kitch on the walls and tables. Will be back.
Great food, a lovely atmosphere and super nice staff. We went there pretty late and ordered drinks at first, later decided to get some food too and their kitchen was about to close but they accepted our order which was awesome. Also their fries are very good, doesn’t matter which ones you order, they’re all good. We tried three of them, garlic fries are recommended, and enjoyed the cheese burgers.
Truly a staple. This was our first time and we had an out of town guest... Instant classic! The burgers are outstanding, the drinks are semi-reasonable in price. Wish they had by the bottle or pitcher options for groups. Nothing is draft. 😭 Overall, the service was meh, the food was very good-great. Will return for the burgers.
I was so excited to introduce one of my favorite places to a friend of mine. I was devastated to find it had closed. I hope they reopen, even in another location. Even the side salad was fantastic. Spicy hot chocolate, the pies, soups… the staff was always amazing. I hope the fates align to reopen.
Staff were super friendly and helpful, though service was pretty slow after one server left leaving one other to manage tables. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the music, odd decor, ocean view, and overall feel. Rugs and flooring made it feel a little dirty, but overall it felt good. The food was good with fresh vegetables, perfect serving size, and excellent preparation. The coconut pie was great. Overall I’d definitely recommend.
Come for the PCH dining and stay for the omelettes!! The eclectic, fun atmosphere give you a lot to look at and snap pictures of, and the staff is always great. Early mornings on weekends is a really nice time to be there. The space is a little snug, so make sure everyone is okay being in close quarters.
PLEASE REOPEN IM SO UPSET:((The interior of this place is amazing and so is the food. Places like this are rare and they are all gradually shutting down. La will soon be a city of sterile modern buildings serving coffee with almond milk. Please save this place.
How could a guy named Patrick not stop at Patrick's Roadhouse for Breakfast or one of their many classic burger specials. They even have a burger with apple smoked bacon and peach preserves. Now...That's savage!! I love the patio. It's bike friendly. Many that are rolling their bikes on the nearby Beach bike trail aren't aware of the access tunnel that leads under the Pacific Coast Highway to Patrick's Roadhouse. The food is Chef approved. The prices are a lil higher than norm but I believe thats because the vibe is a spot the famous must drop in on occasion. What's most important....crispy perfect bacon and real maple syrup. It's the lil things in life really matter. Stop in and tell'em ...Patrick sent ya!
This place is located located right on the Pacific Coast Highway. I wish they would reopen. Hopefully somebody will buy it and reopen it and keep it the same name. The food was always amazing.
Rounding the corner and coming to grips with the visually rough exterior made my wife and me wonder if it was worth trying, but we did, and we couldn’t be happier! Service and food were both A+! The interior of Patrick’s Roadhouse is worth getting out of your seat to explore (if it’s not too busy). Nearly every space on the walls and ceiling has a curious object, relic, or piece of history to view. For dessert, we tried the Apple Creme Pie (made the same as its guarded original 1970’s recipe), and it was terrific! I’d take out-of-towers here in a heartbeat to get a different perspective of beautiful Santa Monica!
Missed the exit to our hotel and ended up at a very familiar place on the beginning strip of PCH. we had only ate breakfast here but letting the universe be our guide we decide to run and see if we could grab dinner….. beyond happy. Obstructed ocean views the best jazz music over the speakers and amazing food. Hidden secret. I’m sure a few locals don’t want me to post this 🤭❤️ love love love
We saw this little restaurant on the road when we planned to visit Malibu. It was really a nice place, waitresses were very friendly and available. The restaurant is quiet and pretty. We tasted their Impossible Burger, which was one of the best you could eat in California !!! It was really cheap with the happy hour, we had 50% off on our order. What a good adress !
My friend and I always meet here when I am traveling to Santa Monica to visit my family.~ It is so low key with great staff, good drinks and fun food choices.Great to sit outside, though can be loud with PCH, but it is part of the experience. There is a lot of retro decor and always great music of different eras. If you like funky, retro, boho, quirky ambiance, this is the place.
Est. 1973 Layout/atmosphere *Definitely embodies “roadhouse”; kitchen by entrance; dining room with lots of tchotchkes (sat in a nook with US Navy memorabilia); XM Sirius Oldies station playing over the speakers; small patio with tables off dining room; tables out front on sidewalk Service *Friendly Food/drink *Smiling Wild Irish Eyes (two basted eggs over two halves of avocado, topped with chimichurri, served over hash browns, grilled tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms) with English muffin & piece of cantaloupe - really good; hearty breakfast plate
Had Wanda’s Burger with the Impossible patty, wasabi fries and a Virgil’s root beer. A half pound burger is enormous. I had clearly forgotten that. So plenty full. The fries were a great twist on a standard offering and were great fries even without the wasabi/teriyaki enhancement. Big menu with plenty more to try!
Great little train station that has with stood the test of time to feed the people great food! I decided to go here after reading about the history of the area. Turns out back in early 1900's there was a railroad along the coast where PCH currently runs. Patricks Roadhouse was the old train station. Great restaurant with excellent food and friendly staff.
I didnt expect what I saw when I walked in, & fell in love immediately. The old-style decor of antique & timey items adorn the entire interior & exterior of the building with music playing from the 50's & earlier. The current owner has been taking care of the restaurant since it was passed down from his father who started it, which just adds that much more personal touch & history. It really sets a nostalgic and comforting atmosphere accompanied by a warm and welcoming staff. I only stopped by to grab a quick bite & stumbled upon one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in my life. Every plate that passed me looked just as appetizing as the last, and I look forward to coming back whenever I'm in the area to try some of their other dishes! Definitely recommend.
I have been coming here occasionally from the Valley on my motorcycle since the 80s. Always thought it was cool but didn't come that much but realize that is because the waitress were so unfriendly and unhappyness, never made me feel welcome. But this rainy Sunday night in LA, with our friend from Seattle decided to check out the monster waves and go to Patrick's. Emilio was working, nicest guy EVER! Made a HUGE difference! I told him about the sad spinster and said that is not a thing now. Went to the liquor store, bought some whiskey and limes for make shift old fashions, ate an awesome dinner and spent 3 hours there with my wife and friend! Took great photos, looked at all the details. Fantastic.
Quirky fun, upbeat diner with Air BnB upstairs. A little pricey but the food is worth it. Portions are nice sized and excellent. Servers and busboys are friendly and funny. Not only are you getting a great meal, you're getting an experience. My girlfriends and I had a great time. Highly recommend the Santa Monica Chicken Salad. The grilled chicken was perfect and moist. Salad was huge. Pancakes were fantastic. Save room for the banana cream pie. Drawback is parking. Spaces right in front are for the gas station next door. They will TOW you!!! Patrick's has parking down the street on the right. Not many spaces. Once those fill up, you pay $15 to park. Across the street from the beach. Pay the $15 and plan to hang out for a bit.
Let's start by saying if you are looking for an avant-garde restaurant Patrick's is not it. If you want great food, huge portions and an eclectic visual, you found Nirvana. This was our random choice after visiting the Getty Villa down the road. Now I wish we lived closer. I ordered the fish and chips lunch special that comes with a salad. My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad. Both were very generous portions and very flavorful. Even the iced tea cup was huge. There is so much to visually look at in the restaurant it defies description. although it is fun to talk about during your visit. Service was spot on to add to a great experience. Well worth the trip if you are in the area. Also a better option than the cafe at the Getty Villa in my book.
I love this place. It makes me happy. The decor is fun and nutty. The people are so friendly and make you feel like family. We come on St Patrick's Day for the wonderfully flavored and tender corned beef. They have delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch. I always leave with a full belly, happy heart and a smile.
We'd passed this en route and I was taken by the exterior which prompted me to want to dine here. With a little googling, I learned its a place with a heap of history. On visiting, the menu is extensive, the staff fantastic, and my burger cooked to perfection- a little like a chilli con carne in a bun! Impossible with hands, but hey, who cares when the taste is as good as this! Definitely recommend the wasabi fries as a side.
Great experience at Patrick's Roadhouse. It is a very laid back restaurant with fun, very unique decor. We sat outside, there were heaters but it was pleasant out so they turned them off for us. My friend had gluten free pancakes and I had the breakfast burrito with no meat along with a slice of pie. We did wait a while for the food but it was worth it. Prices are perhaps a little high but the food is worth it.
Super chill and cool vibe here! Their house margaritas were great (by my standards), and the service was very special and made us feel at home. There is so much history to see and experience, that this relaxed environment is not for anyone who’s in a rush. Enjoy the atmosphere and the savor the food. A+ for me.
I met the owner At Patrick’s roadhouse a few years ago with my best friends that came from out of town and after our hiking trip we came and what a delightful experience. Then I met his girlfriend and what a beautiful soul she is, not to mention the staff that works there from the waitresses to the cooks and Eve one else is just sweet, professional and welcoming! The food is delicious I’ve tried mostly breakfast bouts my favorite food! Eggs in all possible ways, including the homemade potatoes and the coffee ☕️ must try! I love the de or it’s full of art and crafts, very vintage and odd objects and signs. It reminded me of a place I love in my hometown in Colombia. I have also tried the fish and chips and they are simply cook to perfection! Highly recommend this place it’s a cozy spot where you feel at home if you will. 💚
Very good honest american food with very good Burger and Sandwiches at fair prices. Food: Good quality meat, fresh ingredients and very good french fries. Good portions. Service: Very friendly and unpretentious. Location: Basic with a lot of flair (not everyone will like it) Prices: Fair prices for good quality food and good portions. Conclusion: Very good choice for an honest Burger and just good food without trying to be fancy. We liked it a lot.
Patrick’s roadhouse is a wonderful place to hang out and eat. The decor is very kitchy. Everywhere you look for some thing interesting to see. They have an extremely broad menu. They have whole day breakfast menu with amazing variety. They have over a dozen different burgers to sample. The burgers are delicious. My wife had the avocado burger which was amazing. I had the fish and chips which was delicious. We also had the kettle chips which were awesome. However, the best was the banana cream pie!!!! Tracey was our server. She is friendly and delightful and a pleasure to talk to. Before we left we met Jose, who has been a cook there for 40 years! It is right off the Pacific house highway in Santa Monica with street level news of the beach. I would recommend you eating there for a nice casual friendly meal!
Glad this place was open on July 4th (I was informed they’re even open on Christmas). Great place. Great service. Good price for import beers (Guinness for $7.00). The cheeseburger with jack cheese was made to order with the toppings I wanted (other options for cheese include American or Cheddar Cheese). Friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Located near Pacific Palisades and a rock throw from the beach. Glad I tried this place.
Had an amazing burger and fries. It was cooked perfectly. Other plates I saw looked really good. Portions are pretty big. The atmosphere is unique. You can tell this place has been here for a while. Very charming. If you like hole in the wall, then this is your place
You know I'm all about great service! It is for that reason that I would want to come back to this joint! The food was good 😊 I had the chipotle adobo burger I should have added cheese to give it more flavor but overall still great portions. A little overpriced but which spot isn't nowadays. We got two burgers two iced teas and fries and it was $57. All the waitress were so kind and attentive and parking is in the back!
Stumbled in after a day in the ocean, dizzy with hunger and dumbed by the sun, we were cheerfully greeted by happy barflies who were on the back end of several screwdrivers. Just the right choices on the menu. Delicious salads, burgers, chips and guacamole. We lingered extra long because we were fawned over by a friendly and ernest staff. It was so cozy sitting there eating and listening to classic Big Band hits and Ragtime. We were restored. I hope I always stumble in there when I go to the ocean. Continues to be great...
very beautiful Pub with an colourful authentic Style. The owner is a very friendly guy and the service was at this late time perfect. Direct at the beach is this location a good place for break to relax and enjoy the great ocean view. The price is not the cheapest but in my mind normal for this place in Santa monica. by the way they ran a famous music from the twenties! keep it up!
Patrick's: My first visit and it was a hit. Minimal parking however it's free which I've come to appreciate for the LA area. The food was fresh, hot and amazingly flavorful. I loved my meal! It's a bit pricey and they do not split checks but the service and food were great. I would definitely return if I visit the area again. Thumbs up I recommend this spot!
Absolutely loved this place. If you try to park directly behind the restaurant...dont. Patricks Roadhouse owns a large parking lot just a few hundred feet up the little dise road they are on. Food. Amazing! Delish and creative food! I had the special. It was a burger with an egg, bacon, mango with a hamburger patty with a pick de gallo chili. Then the grill the bun like French toast and drizzle syrup om tje whole thing. Mouth watering. We also had a salmon salad with and the heavenly delishousness you hope for. The decor alome is a reason to go. What a fun eclectic mix! I live in Vancouver WA. I can't wait to visit again.
Great atmosphere, decent views, venue is thoroughly decorated. service is.. inconsistent at best. Parking lot is a half block away from the location. Food portions are consistent with pricing: $$ but you'll take home leftovers. We had the kilt burger and the fekkit burger, both very full-size burgers, with sweet potato and truffle fries. Quite enjoyable, would visit again.
Great little Irish themed restaurant! The food can be pretty pricey, especially if you don't ask how much each little thing costs before ordering. The food is simply amazing, and so is the quantity. Each menu item is enough to split between two people and for both to get relatively full. The flies were a bit of a bother and the special breakfast we ordered was nothing like what the waitress described (I think she had two specials confused), but I really liked the place anyway.
We came here for brunch since we always see it while driving up the coast along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). It is super spunky with bright green walls and random characters on top of and around the building. We sat outside at a shaded table. We picked up a bottle of wine from across the street to enjoy some mimosas. We ordered and our plates were ginormous with so much food! It was good but we did not finish. The servers were super nice and friendly. Not the cleanest or most up to date place to eat but it was a lot of fun and has a lot of character!
Saw this spot on Diners,Drive Ins and Dives and realized we’d be in Santa Monica this weekend. So we came in for lunch. The place is quirky and the service is very friendly. My wife ordered the Fish & Chips and I got the Dijon Plum Burger with wasabi fries. Everything tasted delicious and very fresh. All the operations are big enough for two people. Parking is difficult though.
I was extremely impressed with Patrick's Roadhouse. Come for the fascinating and strange decor, but fall in love with the great service and tasty food. The "Poor Man's Getty" is a California Gem that I highly recommend. There's a reason why this place has been around for over 50 years. Check it out and go find out why. +Service - Excellent service all around. The hostess/waitress that helped us was great. She answered all our questions, made great suggestions for items to try, and made my girlfriend and I feel welcomed. +Food - Great tasting food and plenty of options for whatever you are craving to eat. Had an ginormous and incredible tasting burger with fries. My girlfriend had a New York steak and fries. We were both satisfied with our food order. +Atmosphere and decor - Cool and not like anything you have seen or been to before. Photos don't do this place justice, you need to check this place out in person.
The burger was good. I got the double cheese burger with added bacon and avocado. Also with a side of fries and an orange juice. The only bad part was that the price came to be 32 DOLLARS! I don't mind paying that amount of money for a burger as long as it tastes amazing but the burger didn't taste all that. An in n out burger probably tastes a little better than the one I got. Not saying the burger was bad but it was definately not 32 dollars worth.
Meh ... I really wanted to have a great experience here after my beach walk with my friend. We arrived at 9:30am and chose to sit outside (former sidewalk) . Service was -minus 1 star. Coffee is $6 for a regular black coffee. I ordered the Eggs Rancheros which arrived 30 minutes later and everything was cold. I didn't alert the staff because I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes. I was so hungry so I just ate it. My friend ordered an omelet, spinach and feta which was just okay. However my friend told me their burgers, fries and pies are good! If you want to sit on Arnold Schwarzenegger's chair, sit inside. His chair is called The Terminator Chair. I never want to come back here again. The quality of our breakfast was less than a Denny's. My Rancheros cost $20. My friend's omelet was $18. They have valet parking, but since we walked, I don't know the cost of the valet.
Had a wonderful day UNTIL we got here with a nice size group. We all sat at different tables so there was no excuse. Other tables came and went after we sat down but didn’t start getting our food until 50 minutes after we ordered. Then people at our table started getting food spaced about 10-15 minutes apart, almost like they were making one dish at a time. Were we singled out? Sad and disappointing.
The owner was super rude and unprofessional to negative reviews on Yelp so reposting my review here out of spite. I've had better airport burgers for cheaper and with fries included. Service was slow. But the real issue is that among the decor there are some racist pieces that look straight out of minstrel eras that made my friends and I really uncomfortable. If we hadn't waited an hour in traffic to get here we would have walked out. Real danger vibes here.
terrible food, I had a burger with the chili lime fries and it was very disappointing. The owner responded to my review from when I dined there last year with a lie claiming I asked to use the restroom without dining there, so i’m updating the review now. I have the credit card charge to show that I dined there. I can’t imagine how insane the owner must be to lie like this on reviews regularly. No wonder it’s closed, hope it stays that way if this is how they act. Stay away. Attached a photo I took from inside while I was dining so that this crazy owner has to own up to their lies. Also attached their accusation.
