My sisters and I always have a great time at the Nail! Make sure to get a PB&J shot and order the mozz sticks (best in ADK!!).

My home bar for good reasons. Mostly great people. Inexpensive come as you are, you are not judged by anything except are you a good person or not.

The mural alone is enough to entertain for hours… it really sets the heart ablaze with curious wonderment….. ok, I’m going in now…lol #sidetracked…

The Rusty Nail is not your average dive bar. It has the local flair and the locals to go with, but there's so much more. Always decorated for the next upcoming holiday. You can count on the same staff being there with an occasional new person, they open early in the day for those day drinkers, (you know who you are), a back yard for smokers and non smokers alike, with comfortable seating in and out of the sun, a fire pit for cooler weather, and the best pool table around. Stop by by yourself or with some friends I promise you'll leave with more friends than you had when you showed up!

Any time I make it to Saranac, my first stop is The Rusty Nail. Although not a local, the bartenders remember my name and treat me like family. The drinks are stiff, and the beers are cold… my kinda bar!!

My dad went in here 30 years ago and the local folks tried to fight him for "giving dirty looks to em". Wouldn't go back till recently when I promised I'd fight em off for him 😂 place is a great dive and I'll certainly be back. Bartender was great and the regulars were nice.

My husband and I stopped in here while on our honeymoon after going to another local bar that was terrible in all ways- the drinks, the service. Anyways we came to the Rusty Nail where we were warmly greeted and had an absolutely amazing time. The locals were so nice and inviting, the open mic night was so fun and it was an fantastic way to spend our evening. I would recommend anyone to stop in and enjoy a drink at this cozy place.

I can’t recommend The Rusty Nail highly enough. Stopped in on a rainy Sunday when our hiking plans were called off due to weather. It is clearly the best kind of local joint. Good place if you know people otherwise it's a loner place

This is the bar for the seasoned alcohol veterans. Prices were pretty much flat rate and we're fair enough. The bar dogs were very friendly and the patrons were helpful when we asked about good food in the area. Building could have been cleaner and better lit but on the all it was a solid bar experience.

It's unfortunate that at the end ofvthe night. They condone thier regulars to pic fights and to allow them to push out of towners around. I've been there several times over the last 2 weeks and it's happening every time and I walk away not being able to tip staff properly. Your choice not mine.

I was excited to try this place out as it’s recommended in the top 20 places to visit around Saranac Lake and man were they wrong… we no sooner walked in and everyone glared at us making us feel uncomfortable. It was very obvious we weren’t wanted. I don’t write reviews for places but I felt I needed to because the bartender was so rude. We sat down trying to figure out what we wanted and instead of walking to us she shouted from behind the bar that we needed to come up and order and we told her we were deciding what we wanted. She then singled out my fiancé ( who doesn’t drink and didn’t bring his id because he wasn’t gonna drink) and demanded his ID and when he told her he didn’t bring it because he wasn’t going to drink, she disregarded the rest of us who did bring IDs and wanted to drink , and said she wouldn’t serve us. We told her the rest of us brought our IDs because we planned on drinking then she called us “out of towners”, so between feeling unwanted and angry, we left not even 5 minutes into being there. Definitely not welcoming to new people…

Instead, I recommend a great restaurant with pleasant staff and beautiful views on the water , the Cottage on Lake Pacid. I went there after leaving the Rust Nail (I wasn’t even there for a few minutes before unfortunately having to leaving) and I was so happy I found that restaurant. Don’t come here with your family and friends , not welcoming to out of state people unfortunately.
