This place is adorable and the staff are so attentive and friendly. The food is AMAZING. There’s a massive variety, and it’s all delicious. We’ve been here several times now and it never disappoints.
I took my son out for a birthday dinner and Volcano was his choice. It was my first time there and i have to say it was a great experience and i look forward to my next visit which will be soon. Our server was outstanding and went over and above and made our dining experience even better and the food was really good so my thanks to all involved in making the Volcano an outstanding experience and i will be back. If you have been thinking of trying it out don’t hesitate and see for yourself . You won’t be dissapointed.
First time here and it was absolutely amazing! The service and staff are totally professional and accommodating, they explain everything to you with step by step instructions. I have never done anything like this before and let me tell you it is a experience! They give you 2 hours to eat all you can, unlimited unalcoholic drinks, and there is a sauce bar with all different types of sauces to put on your food. My husband was in his glory with all the different meat selections. He had pork belly and lamb, I had chicken and my son had steak. The fried rice was delicious and so was the spring rolls and my absolute favorite was the dumplings! You definitely do not leave there hungry. It's a little pricey but it's worth it! Definitely going back! EDIT: we went back yesterday and it was still absolutely amazing! Love the service there and the food is always Super Fresh and tasty! I love all different varieties of broth flavors and the spice bar is still awesome! That kimchi is to die for! I also love the dumplings and the lava balls! For 3 people plus tip its about $170 a little pricey but worth a treat!
A fantastic hot pot place! This restaurant has a quite varied selection of proteins and a grab-your-own drink arrangement so you're able to get your own refills without waiting. Delicious, enjoyable experience with a bunch of booths designed for comfortable larger parties of people as well. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in the area.
Paola was an absolute delight during our visit at Volcano. She greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome right away. Our drinks stayed filled, the food recommendations were spot-on, and she checked in at just the right moments without hovering. The whole experience felt smooth and enjoyable because of her attention to detail and upbeat personality. Thank you, Paola, for making our meal even better. We’ll definitely be back, and we hope to be seated in your section again!
So great. Out of every hot pot experience I've had, this was the greatest. The selection of food was amazing. The restaurant had pretty bright lights but it wasn't disruptive to the experience. Most importantly though, waitress Lia was absolutely wonderful!!!! The food was great but she really solidified the experience.
Absolutely incredible Korean BBQ experience! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and full of amazing aromas that instantly made my mouth water. The staff were super friendly and attentive — they made sure everything was perfectly cooked and that we had everything we needed. The quality of the meat was top-tier — melt-in-your-mouth tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like a little party for my taste buds. The sides were fresh, the sauces were on point, and the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. If you’re looking for a spot to laugh, eat, and leave totally satisfied, this is the place. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
I normally wouldn't go out of my way to review a restaurant. Most of my reviews are shippers and receivers during my OTR trucking adventures. I've only ever been to one other BBQ and Hot Pot place and this one was way better. Everyone was so amazing with service and walking us through the process since we are not use to it. They use ipads for ordering your items and they serve them to you. It's great! The food was awesome and you can stay for two hours. I'm so happy we went.
We haven’t been here in about a year and a half, and the food has gotten better (it was good before and was great this past time!). They had fun chopsticks with helpers for the kids. The server was helpful with cooking tips, but it would be nice if there were cooking tips/suggestions on the tablet that could be viewed when choosing or cooking each item. We’ll be back soon!
I got to sit down and stuff my face for two hours with quality meat and seafood and it only cost like 40bux. The service was also excellent, they bring out the dishes pretty efficiently and the servers go above and beyond. I am going to struggle getting into my car and I've never been happier.
I recently visited this Asian BBQ and Hot Pot restaurant for the first time, and it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, we were struck by how bright and vibrant the place was, setting it apart from your typical dining spot. Our server, Lia, was fantastic—so friendly and helpful! She took the time to explain everything on the menu, which made the whole experience more enjoyable and fun. The food itself was delicious with a variety of options to choose from. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I can't wait to go back.
Best Asian hotpot/BBQ in the Capital Region. We always choose hotpot when we visit family in NYC and Volcano is as good as most I've been to in cost and quality. Plenty of variety on both hotpot and BBQ (though some items are the same or just cut different). It's around $44 for hotpot with BBQ (2024). We only got hotpot the first few times because I've often been disappointed other places with BBQ, but I thought the selections on BBQ (similar in many ways) were great. And some things are just better grilled. for instance, the frog legs are much better on the grill than in the broth (though I like them either way). Ribeye was delicious as well. Just get the grill hot and sear both sides for about a minute. Non alcoholic beverages are included and self serve out of of a beverage cooler. Selection changes but it's always got water and soda. They serve alcoholic beverages as well including Asian beers and sake. The cold/sauce bar offers a variety of sauces, kimchi, other vegetable salads including seaweed and some light dessert items (cake, fruit). They also offer ice cream for dessert (sometimes you have to ask).
No reservation needed, there was plenty of seating and service is very fast and attentive. Went for dinner and had all you could eat hot pot and BBQ grill because you can do both!! (for a small upcharge). For 2 hours you can order as much food and as many quantities of menu items as you would like. All done on an iPad and brought out with very quick timing. All cook on your own great fun experience. Plenty of options: pork, beef, veggie, seafood. Super delicious marinades on BBQ meat. A whole sauce bar where you can build your own sauce pallets and seaweed salad or kimchi. Includes all nonalcoholic drinks in a cooler that you just help yourself to and a nice little ice cream. Extremely reasonably priced for a hot pot/ Korean grill and very well managed! Will definitely be back!
No other place in the area that allows you to do BOTH hot pot and BBQ all-in one, AYCE. There’s truly no wait times after you submit each order on the tablet. The staff are VERY friendly and patient. Love their sauce bar and their self serve soft drink cooler. Believe your waiter when they say the sichuan broth is an 8/10 for spice level even if it’s light spicy. My mouth was on FIRE, and I probably lost all my taste buds 😅I don’t want give it all away so you have to visit to get the full experience yourself. For the price you pay, it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend for a date night or time with family.
Awesome selection of BBQ and hot pot. Facility is very clean, nicely decorated, good equipment, and nice layout. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would absolutely recommend.
Been here for KBBQ. The quality has increased a bit since they first opened! Meat quality is good enough. A good amount of side options, and the sauce bar is nice too. The side quality, like the meat, is good enough. The lettuce is not the correct type of lettuce, though, so you can’t actually make a lettuce wrap. You get your own drinks, make your own sauce, order any sides or meats on a tablet. Atmosphere is nice, and the service when needed is good. Pretty enjoyable! They don’t take small reservations (sub 14), so that can suck.
This was most of our first time at this establishment. My oldest daughter has been there before a few times. It was my daughter's birthday dinner (they were born 14 years, 23 hours and 54 minutes apart)... My wife and youngest daughter got there about 20 minutes before my oldest daughter and her boyfriend. The server was very nice... And patient. He explained how everything works, a few times. So I'll give him 5 stars for that.. And his demeanor... But I'll give "him" 3 stars for service.. We had quite a few dishes that weren't delivered or were delivered after asking a couple of times. Also forgot some alcoholic drinks (to his credit, he admitted that he forgot, which we respected.. It was a full house). The food was really good. The price was decent. However, and we've been seeing this lately, the suggested tip didn't add up... The three options on the bill were no where near close to the percentage of the total bill. Total turn off,IMO. We did have a wonderful time and the service from the young man, overall, was good... But the tip situation left a sour taste in our mouths. I took a picture of it for evidence. I would like to add that the server, knowing it was my girl's birthday dinner, did bring them a fried ice cream dessert and didn't charge us for that. Again, fine young man. He did a good job overall. He even asked us if we wanted us for them to sing happy birthday.... Which can be embarrassing.... It's not for everyone... This is literally the first time I've been offered this option in my 47 years... And I appreciated that. We declined. We'll be back, but they need to fix the gratuity thing. Big turn off. ***Edit*** I want to acknowledge that I personally know the owner, Bri, however I didn't realize that this was her restaurant and that I haven't seen her in a few years. My family and I are regulars at Yang's Asian Bistro, one of her other establishments. She won us over, over a decade ago (she have our now 13 yr old a Valentine's Day balloon from her decorations that my then toddler wanted... It was a sweet gesture that she didn't hang to do.... That and the food has been great and consistent). With that said, knowing that she is the owner, I'm confident that she'll take my criticisms seriously and do her best to correct the issues that I brought up. My review still stands, but I will gladly change it, if warranted, on my next visit.
We came right at 2:00 PM when they opened and were among the first customers of the day, so we honestly expected everything to be clean and ready. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The restroom was dirty and there wasn’t even toilet paper. If you’re just opening for the day, at least the basics like cleaning and restocking should be taken care of. The food was even more disappointing. The quality of the meat was pretty low and everything just tasted oddly bland. The desserts were not good at all. Also, the portions that came out looked nothing like the photos on the tablet menu. There weren’t even knives on the table. If I order a steak, I expect to be able to cut it properly — am I supposed to wrap it up and eat it like that? Service-wise, our server could have been a bit more friendly. We said thank you every time we asked for something, but didn’t even get a simple “you’re welcome” back. Small things like that matter. For two people, with the automatic 20% tip included, we paid close to $100. Honestly, for that price, the quality and service just weren’t there. You can go somewhere else, spend a few dollars more, and get much better meat and much better service. (Maybe MOSU) I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve.
I don't understand the hype around Volcano. Yes you can do both hot pot and BBQ but you end up only eating a little of both and ends up being gimmicky anyways. I thought the hot pot was fine but the BBQ was disgusting. First the Teflon on their grilling surfaces are all scratched so we can all enjoy eating microplastics from that. And every single marinade was sweet which led to it burning on the grill plates and it didn't help that the meat quality wasn't great. The icing on the cake was the sauce bar everyone raves about. I watched a kid at the next table lick his fingers then get up and help himself to the self serve food and sauces. He did use tongs and ladles but his spit is now on everything! This is why I don't go to buffets. I don't trust people.
