Lovely place to meet friends or family for delicious food. Would certainly recommend the sticky toffee pudding!
Excellent food and service. Liv really looked after us.
Lydia, was perfect. Great service, thank you for pleasant evening
Amazing food, great service and really nice atmosphere.
We love this place. It's friendly the 1st time an gets more after every Visit OK
Great food, even better service. Will definitely be back!
The best pie I have ever had
Apologies for the late review but we had a truly fantastic Valentine’s evening at the Assembly Rooms. It was clear that a great deal of planning, care and attention went into this gastronomic event. We had excellent food and service throughout the evening, everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were served 5 delicious courses with great veggie and meat options, everyone’s food came at the same time (and at the perfect temperature!) which I know is often hard to achieve. The presentation was wonderful. Even the music was at a perfect volume. The only thing that could have made it better would have been wine flights - because the chef had taken the time to select a wine for each course but I couldn’t manage 5 full sized glasses. Thank you to Chantel for serving us and thank you to Chef Tom for a really memorable experience. I can’t seem to add pictures on here, but if I can find somewhere to post them I will do!
Absolutely beautiful setting, delicious food and fantastic service. So much so that we even before we’d finished our meal we booked for the following week.
Excellent food and excellent service in a lovely environment. Liv did an awesome job of looking after us.
Delicious food and a wide range of gluten free options. An overall great experience! We’ll definitely be back.
We had dinner here every evening during our holiday. Great food, friendly staff, beautiful decor.
Food and service was fantastic.*****
1st time at the Assembly Room as a local we welcome this addition to the area . Food was delicious and well presented staff friendly and attentive drinks a little pricey but it’s only a small bar. Decor and atmosphere spot on a great Saturday night out without the truck in to Sheffield centre…. We will be back!
Lovely meal, great menu, really tasty. Just a little cold inside which affected atmosphere. Will go back!
Beautiful meal with family this evening. Food was beautiful, we had the Sunday beef lunch . A lovely lady called Fran served us and was very attentive and friendly. Thank you .
Regularly visit schoolrooms cafe while cycling and Assembly when we have people visiting. Food and service, are always great especially Liv.
Seriously impressive new food option for the area. I love a place that serves yorkshire puddings for a starter (With gorgeous beef brisket and gravy)! The fish and chips was some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend. Wine pushed the price up but the food is very reasonable
Really impressed. Lovely meal, very tasty, well cooked and presented. Service was great. We eat out a lot, and like good food, not basic pub grub, which this definitely isn't. Highly recommended.
Recently renovated cafe and brand new restaurant. Amazing food (highly recommend the steak pie). Great selection of local drinks which include amazing gins and great beers. It has become our favourite restaurant in the region straight away. Will come again!
This place is amazing. Fantastic service, beautifully located, professional, polite and friendly staff and a menu to cater for everyone. The food was delicious and the portion size perfect. We will definitely be back 10 out of 10.
We already love the cafe but tried the bistro for the first time when the in laws came to visit and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! We’ll be back soon!
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here for my wife’s birthday. The staff were amazing, especially Lydia who looked after our table. My son is coeliac and Lydia checked with the kitchen around his allergies. We had a lovely afternoon. Thank you
A stunning little place - all the staff were so very welcoming. We were beautifully looked after by Liv - the food was exceptional! Thanks to their fabulous chef - looking forward to the Valentines night that Lovely Liv recommended ❤️
Very good in all respects with plenty of choice and well prepared food. Our server Liv was charming and efficient. The building is well thought out and unusual which adds to the charm.
Had such a lovely evening at the Assembly bar & bistro, the new addition to the Schoolrooms which is also lovely! Loved the food it was so tasty and even better than expected you could really tell it was of a high standard along with also having good portion sizes! Staff and service was excellent and my whole family were so impressed. It’s such a beautiful setting and the newly decorated interior looks amazing! Thank you we will definitely be back xx
What a fabulous place, beautifully decorated, well thought out. The surroundings outside add to the ambience.A warm welcome from the staff and locals alike. Felt right at home. The staff, although young, were professional and knowledgeable and very well trained. A credit to the owners. The food was excellent, tasty and not small portions. Overall a great place to visit and eat, will have to visit the Schoolhouse cafe in the near future.
Food was superb! Excellent value from the set menu with great options. We had the steak & ale pie which was everything a pie should be - short buttery pastry, tender meat, lashings of gravy (thick with no lumps!). Service from Liv was wonderful too, she was attentive, friendly & accommodating. Thoroughly recommend!
We had a large group of over 20 friends and family gathering in a private room and it was all excellent. The service team were professional and patient with the sheer volume of people in the space and they communicated well when serving despite the level of chatter they had to overcome. Liv led the team expertly and we really appreciated her careful attention and professionalism. What a great place. Delicious, quality food and drinks and a lovely atmosphere. Roast pork was excellent. Highly recommended!
We went for Sunday dinner and i was excited to see a menu with gluten free choices as a primary consideration and not as an after thought. I had the vegetarian wellington gluten free -delicious. Our party enjoyed the chicken and beef options as well. The staff were friendly and the vibe is relaxed country lux. We will be back
Myself and my partner had a lovely meal at the assembly bar and bistro, the cocktails were fantastic and the food was even better. Our server Maia was kind, friendly and ensured we were well looked after. We 100% would recommend and will be returning!
An excellent 2 course supper on Friday night. Whoever is doing the cooking at this place really understands how to prepare delicious, well cooked, well presented food. Service was great, Liv and another young woman served us, both were spot on and understood the principle of hospitality ie make people feel welcome! It’s remarkable how many people don’t quite get that right. My son and I returned the next day for lunch and Liv recognised us and said hello. Lunch was very good. A big well done to all concerned. The place was very busy and I can see why.
The food was excellent. I got the brisket yorkshire pudding and the burger, both were very nice and the burger was large. Vibe overall was nice. Can get noisy tho. Service seemed a bit disorganized, and most positively understaffed. Nice experience overall.
A very cosy and welcoming atmosphere with very nice traditional pub/ bistro food. We had the supper menu and prices were reasonable for the quality. The french onion soup was very nice 👌. Will be coming about again in future
We booked to come to the St Patrick’s Party. I have to share my disappointment , I felt that perhaps the chef could have made a special for the occasion ie Irish stew, champ and bacon etc and the entertainment certainly wasn’t Irish . We left at 9o’clock due to disappointment of what could have been an excellent night with just a little thought ☘️ The food that we did have was delicious and our waitress was great .
Cosy pub, good food. We visited in the evening. The pub area was busy when we walked in. Had to find someone to show us where to go. Food portions were great, we had starter and main. To full for pudding unfortunatly. Ill look to revisit in rhe day to try the cafe!
First time here — got starred out by the regulars as we walked in by the bar, which was a little off-putting and made my wife feel particularly uncomfortable, almost like we were trespassing on their territory. That aside, the starters and mains were tasty, and the pork tenderloin was delicious.
Nor suitable for parking
A promising new Resturant, cafe, bar business in a fantastic location within the beautiful Bradfield valley just behind the cricket pitch. I called in for dinner last night. The risotto was ok but not too exciting. The service was a little wanting, everyone was perfectly polite, but the new business is is clearly aspiring to provide an exceptional customer experience. It has invested heavily in the interior, the presentation of the menu and the online presentation, but the staff are quite young, probably quite inexperienced and as such the feeling is that you’re being served by people just doing part time work from the local area, which can still be great, but train the team and set the benchmark. Playing pop hits like Wetleg in a Resturant where you’re charging £20 a dish and in this setting just doesn’t fit. A senior manager who is able to set the standard and build a great team perhaps!? Still it is a new business that has only recently opened and I’ll certainly come back, particularly as they offer a Sunday roast. Definitely worth a visit!
My husband rang to book a meal for my birthday for last Friday He was told that there was a good selection of Vegetarian meals In fact here was only 2 main courses one Ganacci which I dislike and the other pasta which I ordered .It was rather bland and boring.. My husband enjoyed a pie but was upset that my meal was poor. We were seated in the main door way my self on a high bench seat which was uncomfortable My husband was on a low chair which he had to move side ways being cramped up against the wall. he is 6 ft tall. We were not happy we were expecting a romantic meal and felt more like we were eating a school dinner
As a weekly visitor to the school Rooms I was thrilled about the opening of The Assembly so booked for last weekend. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely but still learning. Service was slow but apologies were made. The decor is wonderful but upstairs was incredibly warm even with all windows open hopefully some air con installed for warmer weather. The upstairs room ceiling is quite low contributing to the heat and how noisy, music was too loud, it was. The dark turquoise bench upstairs is too high and even the tallest lady was laughing as she was looking down on her husband and giving him orders. It was very uncomfortable, needs removing. Worse still one of the directors children was kicking a football around in the restaurant, though chastised he continued elsewhere in the building and hit one of my party as she came out of the ladies toilet. I was so disappointed as being reasonably local we were looking forward to being regulars. Won't be ordering wine again as a mediocre bottle of Sauvignon was over £30. Will give them time to learn before trying again.
Meal good , but disappointed in extra for cream with coffee£3.60 +50pence cream, my husbands birthday sweet nice but he had a lob of ice cream and was charged £1.00 extra. Did not expect a cake but that was ridiculous as posset was so small. Plus tried to get £9.80 tip but stopped it, not treated like people just a number
