Best Mexican food in Sherman. Make sure to try their flight of margaritas. Amazing!

My boyfriend and I went here on a Sunday around 1pm. Our server was so lovely (I can’t remember her name) and the food was great. I see on some of these reviews about the portion sizes being smaller. We had mentioned at the restaurant how we loved the portion sizes due to always leaving food waste. Definitely will be a go to for us when we go back to Texoma to fish!

Today my husband I went here for our Anniversary lunch date. This was after pulling into another place, and deciding we were suppose to go somewhere else. We're here from Oklahoma, just to get away. Our server was Jessica, F. Her complete hospitality was personal and great! The food was amazing and worth the price! She made sure not only we were doing well, drinks, salsa, chips etc...but others as well. I strongly believe we'll be back! She deserves great tips!!

Asked the staff for recommendations and they suggested the spicy guava drink and shrimp enchilada. Both were on point tabs delicious. I would love a spicy salsa option for the chips, but the chips here are super delicious I also really enjoy the fact that they can make in-house their corn tortillas and you can definitely taste the difference in their corn tortilla enchiladas. The staff also is very friendly.

They have a great selection of very tasty Mexican-Americano type dishes, remanicent of my preferred Mexican California cuisine, don't hate on me, I love texmex and authentic as well. The prices are a bit much for me but worth a splurge as portions are generous and I can always do left overs or a late night indulgence. Cheers. One oddity was a robot server I saw there a few months back... Life is strange.

Great service and amazing food! Bryan at Catrinas provided us with exceptional service, he was very kind and helpful. We order a side of queso with chip, the Pinneapple Cilontro drink, and a Corona to start. We then ordered the Fajita Chimichanga, Beef Enchilada, and Pollo a la Crema. Everything was served quickly. Thank you for a great night!

This is the best Mexican food place in Sherman. The food is great, as is the service. No wait times and plenty of parking. They wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. Recommended if you are in the area craving Mexican food.

We came in Tex-Mex deprived after being in AL for a year. Got 2 La Flaca margaritas (the best), tableside guacamole (loved it), & a combo 1 & 2 with mole on our enchiladas (wonderful) . We are deprived no more! Excellent drinks, excellent service & excellent food. We only have 5 days until we have to go to the next place & these 2 Texans will be back before we leave.

Great service, my drink was never dry, the guacamole is the bomb! I had the Mexican nachos mixed, the entire meal is amazing and fast. One of my favorite places to eat.

The food was delicious and with the Pepsi I had it just made the overall meal perfect I had enchiladas I forgot the specific name of it because it was indeed my first time at this location, but Karol my waiter was very good and very friendly she definitely seemed like she knew what she was doing and always had a smile on her face. Tried Catrina's about a month ago for the 1st time & was thoroughly impressed!!! They've got the BEST tortilla chips I've EVER HAD!!! They come out with a basket of chips & their salsa which revs your tastebuds up for what's coming next...my BFF had enchiladas which she LOVED & I had their tasty tasty taco salad in a shell & I'll give it a 10 PLUS!!!...& let's not forget about their MARGARITAS!!! Wow. Can't say enough about how good the food was. The queso fundido, crazy. The pollo a la creama brought a tear to my eye. I couldn't stop eating. It may very well have been the best Mexican food I've ever had. My wife had the chicken chimichanga. So good. The sangria swirl Margo were outstanding. I'm going to go back every chance I get.

We had the best experience here! They have the cutest outdoor seating and the weather was perfect (warm and slight breeze). We witnessed a beautiful sunset and had the best service! They brought us our own individual salsas (most places you have to ask for that), fantastic guac, the drinks and food was amazing (even for a vegan)! Highly recommend them to all.

First and foremost do not judge a book by it's cover! This place is awesome! Staff is attentive when it comes to sanitation. Visibly see the immaculately clean kitchen, signs are posted well and they waste no time ensuring that each area is wiped down as soon as customers are done. Food is fresh! Drinks are made to please! Hidden gem for sure!

Enchiladas Verde was so good! The Verde sauce was perfect and in perfect portion on the Enchiladas. The rice was well seasoned and the beans had great consistency and texture. Our server did an amazing job during a busy Friday night. She was attentive, punctual, and always had a smile. 10 stars for her! We will be back!

We just moved to town and I had told my husband if we could find some great Mexican food I would be okay. Omg, I am so excited to have found this place!! It is decorated SOOO cute from top to bottom, just such a fun atmosphere. Our server, Gina, was precious and so attentive. And the food was amazing! The enchiladas tipicas with steak was absolutely delicious, their chicken with sour cream sauce enchiladas were amazing and their queso was incredible. Also their mango margaritas were amazing. I’m making myself wait a few days before we go back, but what a fun place to take family and friends when they come visit!

The restaurant we went to was in Sherman, Tx. This was a very pleasant environment. We sat at the bar, had a drink (Crown & 7up) which was perfect. Enjoyed bartender. He was spot on talking to everyone, filling dishwasher, making drinks like crazy. Always smiling an attentive. The chips an salsa that we had with drinks was hot an salsa was fantastic. Nice Place Walked in about 5pm. Server came and took drink orders. Seemed to take a while, but we got them. Then the food, also took a while, but it was hot and fresh. The waitress charged us for an extra drink and when I brought it up, she fixed it, gave me 10% Off the bill and a free dessert! She must have been slammed or just short of help, but went all out to make it a good experience 👍

I love their food and I’ve always had good service when dining in. However, this is the second time I’ve placed on online order, gotten a confirmation with a pick up time and then gotten there to find out they didn’t have my order. Then I had to wait 15 minutes for them to start my order because I’ve already paid. If their online order system isn’t working, then it shouldn’t accept my money and send me a confirmation.

Bean dip came with white queso on it but was good. Street tacos were LARGE but flavorful. The Sampler was very good and large enough to be a meal. Only negative was the Flauta tasted like flour. Everything else was worth money.

We slid in at 9:10 when they closed at 10. The staff was helpful and happy to serve us. We had a margarita and beer, plus the appetizer sampler, all of it was great.

The steak from the tacos was delicious, and it was seasoned really well. The chips were good. Some were stale, but putting those to the side, the other ones were crunchy. The only thing I wasn't pleased with was the guacamole. It was just ok.

I got the vegetarian chimichanga with green tomatillo sauce instead of the cheese sauce and no cheese anywhere on plate. Also, double guac instead of sour cream. I would return! I do wish that their salsa had more flavor. Its pretty tomato-ey.

Sherman Tx has a good Mexican restaurant. Looks like a converted Johnny Carino’s The interior is well appointed and provides an excellent dining atmosphere. Menu is loaded with Tex-Mex favorites. Queso and guacamole appetizers were Tasty. Sampled the quesadilla, enchiladas, relleno’s, with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were fresh. The side order of steaming hot corn tortillas and butter is a must. I definitely recommend this restaurant

Catrina's Cocina & Tequila Bar is a really nice upscale Mexican restaurant located in Sherman Texas. (Nice booths, cozy tables, fireplaces and a bar). This place definitely has a "date night" vibe. The combo fajita were good sized and sizzling, but I think the signature carne asada steak with cheese enchilada on the side stole the show. Interesting cocktail menu and if you don't know which Margarita to try pick the flight you get four good-size samplers. Their website says they had music, but it definitely wasn't on a Sunday. I wish they would add on their website when they're going to have live music! JUAN at the bar, was a great host.

This Establishment is Just Okay for Authentic Mexican food. This is Just My opinion. Service is Rather Slow in my opinion As well.

Wife ordered chili relleno with red sauce and cheese enchilada with Verde sauce. She received her plate with cheese sauce covering everything, and the food was cold. We didn't have time to wait for it to be remade. I ordered steak fajitas and they were descent.

Pretty disappointed after wanting to try this place for so long! We got there around 7 and immediately got served chips and salsa (which was fantastic) and water. Our server immediately asked if we were ready to order and we asked for a second to look at the list of margaritas. She then came back 10 minutes later and we ordered drinks and queso. When we got the drinks I was surprised how small the cups were for the flight of margaritas for $17. They were delicious but between the ice cubes in there and the size of the cup I maybe got a shot glass worth of liquid. I had gotten the carne asada and it was extremely tender but zero flavor so I took most of it home. My water was empty from the time I had gotten my margarita until we got our check and our server never checked on us until we had to ask someone for our check. We had such high hopes for this place. But maybe happy hour is better than dinner service.

I was passing thru Sherman and looked for a place to eat. Catrina's sounded interesting and I love mexican food. Somewhat disappointed. It was ok but nothing to get excited about.

Food was ok , customer service was the best thing there she actually did pretty good for being pregnant about ready to pop.

The fish tacos had a strong, unpleasant oil taste. I also tried the pineapple-cilantro margarita, which was disappointing — it mostly tasted like water with a faint hint of pineapple, and the ‘cilantro’ was just a stem on the side.

The menu has been updated and all prices have increased. They also added $5 for rice and beans. $10 for a single frozen sangria. Overall mediocre and overpriced.

Visited for the first time Sunday late afternoon. The place was not crowded at all, we were seated by the Fireplace and Bar. We had a party of 3. The waitress was less than lack luster, the chips she brought out were stale so we ordered queso, we had to ask for small plates whenever the appetizer was delivered but she showed up with a few minutes later after asking for them, there was no silverware on the table so we asked for silverware. She never came back with silverware, we had to go take some off other tables. Then the food arrived, the beans on all three entrees tasted soured, the meat in the taco tasted terrible and the steak in the over priced burrito was chopped up and tough to eat. The waitress never refilled our drinks at all. We all got sick later in the evening we believe we got food poisoning from the queso and beans. It was a $79 mistake, we won't be going back it's overpriced, the food is questionable and the waitstaff needs to be replaced.

I ordered off of doordash and got 3 tacos, 2 al pastor 1 carne asada. As well as churros. The meat was fantastic but they don't give as much as smaller places around town, the taco was a bit flimsy but tasted good. My beef is with the rice and beans, the texture was perfect on both but they were quite bland. Portion sizes overall were pretty disappointing for the prices. Neither salsas were spicy though I suppose that's what I get for doing tex-mex. The churros were to die for though, perfectly crispy, warm, and had caramel on the inside. Best churros I've had in ages.

Food: I ordered the fajita steak chimichanga. While it was a decent portion size, it had maaaybe 6 small pieces of meat in it. The largest piece may have been an inch and half long. Fajita steak should also be tender but this was very chewy. The filling was also so soupy that it made the chimi soggy on the bottom. Priced at $15.99. My wife ordered the Brisket enchiladas which were tender flavorless. The sour cream sauce was oddly sweet, but the Tortillas were good. The rice was pretty good, but the beans were very salty; as was the pico. All in all it was not a great experience. Maybe it was just an off night, but it was overpriced for the experience and sub par food. We won't be back.

They even got our orders mixed up and we attempted to fix it ourselves by swapping the food around but the staff got offended about that too. I hate to see a great place disappear again in our town, but it will happen with service like this.

This restaurant for the price, is severely lacking. We waited several minutes before our waitress finally came over. Ordered our drinks. Got a sangria margarita & a regular frozen margarita, along with 2 waters. Drinks came out, no water. Had to wait for that and the straws. The margaritas were just ok.. Ordered queso (Catrina's Dip) and it came out before our chips and salsa did. The queso was very bland. It was literally just Velveeta with flecks of ground beef. No seasonings or pico to make it taste better. It became very thick and gloopy (is that a word?) after just a few minutes. We also ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas and the combo fajitas. I typically order sour cream chicken enchiladas to judge a Mexican restaurant because I feel that is a staple you can't mess up. I was was really disappointed in these. The chicken was hard to chew and lacked flavor, as did the sour cream sauce on top. Rice and beans were fine. The fajitas didn't come with much meat but was decent. All in all, we won't be returning with so many other restaurants to choose from that are much higher in quality and service.

Not sure how they get their "mercy "ratings"! Mediocre Tex-Mex restaurant at best, and absolutely nothing special. The staff was friendly and provided good service in a clean environment, thats where it goes way far south, (not in a goodvway). Unfortunately this Mexican food was very bland, salsa was terrible, food quality was low with small portions. It was disappointing. How is it possible to serve awful Mexican food in Texas considering the standards and fierce competition? Sorry management, food needs improvement, this is not good Tex-Mex.

(It was so simple no cheese) I thought) she said well I wanted to make sure it was right so I said then why did you re order if you didn't know it was right and she went back on her word saying she did know I was frustrated and said no I want to speak to your manager the tone the service everything was BAD she gets loud and says "is this not what you wanted" I said it is but I would still like to speak to your manager she then takes the food and is yelling at me at this point saying why do you want to talk to them is this not what you wanted this is what you ordered so do you not want to pay another server stepped in and had to pull her away from the table because she was screaming at us and I never once said I didn't want to pay I was very shocked at how I was being treated for a simple mistake.... Over CHEESE! like seriously? The manager (Donnie) came out and she came with him and I said I didn't want to speak to her anymore. she was rude saying she was going to stand there I then got loud and said leave we do not want you here any longer the manager then makes her leave assures us she will be sent home and fired that they have been having trouble with service and gave use coupons I guess not thinking we would come back but we did this week now I had originally made a good review but to go back this week and the girl is still there not our server but didn't get fired for yelling and having to be pulled away from the table is crazy. She stood in the walk way staring at me and my husband for what reason I'm not sure there was no one else eating in the section we were in it was just us so anyways long story short avoid this place we will not be coming back they lost a weekly customer / high paying customer I've had my baby shower here I've had so much done here and will not be recommending it to anyone in my family. First bite and something sharp pierced the roof of my mouth. The manager said it was metal from a jalapeño can. They truly didn’t seem to care and then ignored us until it was time to pay.

I wasn't impressed by the food. We were most definitely not impressed by our server. She was pretty much non-existent, and she was pretty much telling us what we were going to order. Upon doing this, she messed up our order three times. After the third time being sent back, we ate what little we could and left. We did get 10% of our next meal card. We left it for the next people at our table. The 3rd or 4th person to check on us since our server only took our order, the lady she got a real attitude and was very rude to us about us because we were upset about our food. We were very nice about the whole thing, which really confused us as to why she was so mad.

I used to love this restaurant and eat there every time I came into town to visit family. But my last visit was so bad that I will not be back again. There were a lot of problems. First they've changed their menu and the prices have gone up significantly. It feels like a rip off eating in there. Second, we had a really hard time communicating with our waitress because she does not speak English and we do not speak Spanish. We asked a couple questions about some of the dishes and she just could not answer and/or we could not understand what she was saying. There was a male server hovering nearby watching the whole interchange who speaks excellent English and who would not come help translate despite me trying to beckon him over. That was really frustrating. The hostess was also rude. No one was in there besides our table and two others because it was an off time, but she stayed on her phone texting and did not help when one of the handicapped people in my party was having a difficult time getting in and out of the front doors. There are two of them so I had to scramble to get the one and then scrambled to get the other while she just looked on vacantly from 5 ft away with her cell phone in her hands. And the final straw was the place was full of the big black house flies. Full of them. It was hard to eat and felt like we were eating outdoors, but no, we were inside. Conditions like that are not sanitary and I don't want to know what that kitchen looks like. I can confidently say I will never be back to this restaurant unless they do a complete overhaul. And it's really sad because I've been there a dozen times over the last 5 or so years and I used to really look forward to going there.

When we walked in, the place seemed good, but the service was almost non-existent. Although the food was delicious when it finally arrived, the experience was ruined by the numerous flies, making it difficult to eat comfortably. The server never checked on us or offered to refill our drinks. When it was time to pay, there was another long wait. The person who seemed to be the manager took our payment, but he appeared aggravated. Despite the good food, I wouldn’t recommend the place due to the poor customer service.

Service was horrible. Wrong food was brought out, they did change it but my husband had already finished all of his food by the time they brought mine back out. They still didn't get order correct and as waitress was walking away she say "oh my God" with an attitude as if I had done something wrong. Table across from us also had sent there food back and when they brought out theirs the customer said it's been over 10 minutes and everyone else is already done eating. Needless to say type of discount or anything was given. Just horrible how situation was handled.

Avoid this place! I've been here several times for work events and with friends, and every time, the customer service is consistently terrible. They rarely check on you, even when the restaurant is empty, yet still expect a tip. Normally, if there's a change in staff, the waiter informs the table, but not here. Nothing. I reluctantly gave it another chance for convenience sake just yesterday. We experienced all of the above once again. We ordered four $4.99 margaritas and nothing else, yet somehow our bill totaled $38. Now how does that even remotely make sense. The drinks taste off, and the food is forgettable. Overall, a definite no-go for me!

So my husband and I ordered their California burrito. Mind you we just have took a trip to Cali and thought this would be great. Not perfect but at least decent. It was horrible. They are lazy and didn’t dice up the meat at all. I got Chicken and he got steak and there’s just giant slabs of meat in the burrito. I wish I was being dramatic but literally chicken tender sizes of meat. Husband had to use a steak knife just to eat it And it was just pure salty. I love extra seasoning but this was just salt. 10/10 would not recommend . The pico de galo was basically non existent.

Rolando was the worst server in the world. He wore a badge that said "I'm the worst server in the world." Slow service, small sides and portions, chips and salsa came in Barbie Doll bowls. Will not be back. Rolando is still looking for our silverware.

I order a ranchero shrimp and the rice it came it with was super overcook, the service is alright. My sister is food got a hair on it, and all the waiter did was look at us in disbelief and came back with the check saying he did a discount, the discount was $ 2 dollars and not even once did he apologize, he just look like we did it on purpose, the whole experience felt like we were just look down on.

Out server was Kathy we were a party of ten she came over to our table twice once for bringing drinks and once for taking our order. She did not come over after that until we called her over and she rolled her eyes upset about us calling her over. She did not even take up our appetizer plates even after we payed. I am highly unsatisfied for a tip that amount and the awful service we got after she brought drinks me out to go box we said thank you and she did not respond at all. She brought me the wrong beer for my michelada when she could have indicated that she did not have the beer of choice. Be careful with Kathy actitudes was awful we did not feel welcome.

Everything about the restaurant SUCKED except my waitress. She was extremely nice, friendly, and professional. Her name was Amanda and she was a complete darling! She was also extremely pretty and she gives me a reason to want to go back ;)

Done with this place. It’s always been a little overpriced but the food and location were good enough. But this is the last time I ever eat there. They can’t get a to go order right for their life. Good luck guys. Hope you pull it together in the future.

Honestly, if I could give zero stars I would. I excitedly recommended this place for a date night tonight with my husband. I had eaten here awhile ago with my aunt and it was delicious so I wanted him to try. From the get go the service was extremely slow despite the restaurant not being busy. We then ordered a shrimp cocktail and both of us had to spit it out because it was SO bad. We physically couldn’t swallow it because the fishy taste was so overwhelming. It ruined the rest of the meal for us unfortunately. I was really concerned about the shrimp being bad and them serving it to customers (because who wants to be chancing food poisoning) so I said something to the waitress. I was not asking for it to be taken off our bill & I said I would still pay for it I just mainly was concerned they were serving shrimp that was NOT good. The waitress apologized but then proceeded to have the absolute RUDEST manager? (Not sure who she was really) come to the table to question us. She literally came straight up and got in my husbands face and started berating him on why he didn’t like it?! She raised her voice and rolled her eyes and stomped off. I know she was being hateful because the item was taken off our bill (by waitress not us) but it was very unnecessary. It’s a wonder she caught me on a night where I didn’t feel like getting heated because I do fear based on her attitude the cops may have had to been called. We still tipped the waitress 20% even though I regret that now. Needless to say we will NEVER be back. I’ve recommended this place to friends as well and I will make sure everyone knows this is not a place to go. They do not value their customers and again the shrimp tasted like it had gone bad. As someone also mentioned in another review flies here are HORRIBLE so I’m sure it’s not sanitary either. Just avoid this place and stick to La Mesa!

The pics and detail on the menu doesn't match what you receive. The meals are all lunch portion size and exspensive. The food didn't even taste good.All meals are over 20. The kids meals start at 12.99. You will be charged an adult drink for children (toddler) So it'll be 17.00 for a child to eat. Be ready to drop 30-40 per adult and 20 per child if you go here to eat.

Went to this restaurant to check it out. It was not crowded, quite atmosphere,may be we missed the lunch crowd. We were seated and with in minutes we were asked if we were ready to order. We didn't get time to look at the menu. I felt the food was very overly priced,the pictures didn't do the just and the atmosphere was awkward. We got up and left won't be coming back.

Originally this was going to be a 2-3 star review because we had an obviously new server and as someone that has done everything from host to QA, I am understandable about learning how to be a server. The one good thing we had was my cucumber margarita. My wife ordered the Al pastor tacos. I tried them, tasted like pre seasoned bland meat from Walmart. She also ordered the Catrina’s dip, tasted like melted sour cream. I ordered the new rib eye fajitas that were supposed to come with potato sticks and sautéed onions. My order came out with overcooked ribeye (no fajita sizzle so prob died in the window/kitchen) and came on a bed of fries and barely sautéed onions. I felt like I should have been served with ketchup. Oh and I got charged $2 when I asked for the tortillas that came with the fajitas. The waitress removed the cost of the tortillas after we brought it up. I showed her the menu and the difference between what I ordered and the picture. Nothing close. She unfortunately did not understand most of what we asked pertaining to the menu. This is mainly a kitchen/expo issue but for all the food to me bland, overcooked, and served incorrectly just doesn’t work. Save your money and go elsewhere
