Update: We returned for a late lunch today. Another spectacular meal. Bobby (aka Steven ) was our wonderful server. His timing and service are impeccable and he makes you feel like a welcome guest. I especially appreciated him packaging up my leftovers for me. The best service! We both had half-rack ribs, beans, mashed, veggie mixture (amazing - so good see close up pic). All the food was perfectly cooked, fresh real flavorful high quality ingredients, low in salt, high in delicious flavor. The chef here has an exceptional gift for balancing flavors and creating satisfying meals that are perfection on the tongue. This time we took a piece of apple pie to go. We are expecting more deliciousness later! Last night’s cheesecake was really good - light fluffy rich creamy and not overly sweet. The graham cracker crust was perfection with all that creaminess in the filling. Seriously - try this restaurant. The Grill is well worth the stop if you are passing through, and a “must visit” if you are staying in Lone Pine. Sorry for the partially eaten food pics, I got so busy eating I almost forgot to take pics again! ———————————— For Lone Pine this was a surprisingly good find. Best dinner we have ever had in this town. I didn’t take a lot of photos - sorry - next time. I had the pork chops with rosemary gravy - amazing! Delicious. Perfectly cooked. Side veggies and mashed were also very good. Hubby had roasted chicken with beans and mashed - also very good. Skin crisp, chicken juicy. Perfect amount of seasoning on all the food. Excellent dinner. Tomato soup was very good too. Nice wine/beer selection at reasonable prices. We took a piece of house made cheesecake to-go. Have not tried yet, but expecting deliciousness. Service was warm and efficient. Venue is open and bright, indoor or outdoor seating, beautiful mountain views - and somehow you cannot hear the traffic outside! Magic! A delightful relaxing delicious meal. Try this place, you will be very glad you stopped in.
We ordered the vegan Beyond burger with fries and really enjoyed it. It’s great to have a place in Lone Pine that offers solid vegan options, especially before heading out on the trails. The waitress was friendly as well, which made the stop even better.
This place is special. Not because it's fancy. Not because everyone is dressed to the nine's... It's special because you get to show up as you are, be welcomed by a smiling face, sit down, order, and enjoy good food at very reasonable prices from people who actually care. Thank me later.
We went to the Grille on the last night of a work trip. The food was delicious, our server was so kind to us and on top of things. Has the Steak Frites. Highly recommend!
Great stop for lunch on the way to Mammoth! Friendly and attentive service, nice & clean interior, and great French fries! We split the chicken avocado pita and buffalo chicken sandwich and both were good.
Stopped here on our way back from Mammoth. We are actually looking for an old diner that my mom remembered from back in the day which no longer exists and this looked like a good bet. And it sure was! Really fun diner atmosphere, the owner’s son came out and chatted with us, and our waitress,Karyme, was absolutely adorable. Make sure to stop by when you’re going through lone Pine.
Fresh and delicious chicken burgers— marinated with fresh herbs, green lettuce, purple onions…all amazing in a small mountain town. And, delicious French fries. Jerry, our waiter, was nothing less than genuinely warm and inviting. Very clean restaurant with a spotless bathroom. Delicious pies, too! And our dog was welcomed, even better. Best eatery in Lone Pine?
Large menu, great food! Came here to grab some food after climbing Mt. Whitney and I enjoyed every bite. My waitress was very polite and friendly, very attentive and always made sure my drink was full. Located right down town Lone Pine and plenty of parking. I highly recommend “The Grill”
After a horrible experience of being ignored for 10 minutes at a burger joint down the street, I came here where I was seated, got water, and my order taken within a few minutes. Gerry (sp?) was my server and was so attentive throughout my visit that it put my mind at ease from the last place. This is a quaint joint and I observed how everyone seemed to work harmoniously with good attitudes. I remember coming here with a friend and he had a pasta dish that looked good so I went ahead and ordered one to fuel up for a hike on my way to Bishop. The portion is ridiculous! They really load you up and the flavors are balanced. It came with a salad which was refreshing. Gerry is awesome, checking up on me and all her tables regularly. This is a good spot to hit up when in Lone Pine. Thank you for making me feel appreciated.
Stopped for breakfast while on our road trip. It was a great decision! The food was really good, the potatoes were perfectly fried and so good. The portions were a good size and the cost was reasonable, two breakfast orders and drinks for just under $45.00 Although we didn’t order any pies they looked delicious. Service was quick and friendly, she even held a short conversation with us. The place was very clean, including the restroom. If we ever find our self’s back in this area we will definitely be back.
FELLOW VEGANS… This restaurant is your saviour here in Lone Pine. One of the best vegan burgers I have ever had! ( I opted to have it with a bun, even tho the buns aren’t vegan) but it’s available with a lettuce wrap too. This burger was juicy and delicious, and the fries were also insanely good. This restaurant has a cute ( dog friendly patio) which is so nice to sit out on in the warm evening heat. The service I received at this restaurant was also 5-star! The staff are so warm, friendly and accommodating. This is our new favourite place to eat in Lone Pine.
I had the hamburger with bacon, BBQ sauce and cheddar. The meat is quite good and you can choose how it's cooked. The bun isn't very good and isn't toasted. The fries are very good but there aren't that many. Other than that, the people are nice but it's very noisy inside. There aren't many people so I recommend booking a table if possible
We stop here every year and the food is alway amazing. I don’t know if they got new staff but thank god for the younger gentleman working who helped us because our server wasn’t good at all. He smelled bad and it seemed like he was ignoring us because he didn’t come to our table for at least 10 minutes when we got there. I don’t know if it’s an age thing , but I hope that others aren’t experiencing what we did.
I haven’t had such an awful dinner for quite some time. It was 5 of us, so we tried enough food on the menu to say in absolute confidence that you should not eat here. Soup of the day was uneatable. Three different main dishes with meat were all terribly cooked. I am glad we did not get food poisoning but we all left hungry and sad and I did eat anti food poisoning drugs later at the hotel, just in case. The waitress was super nice though, really sweet and easy and I wish her the best.
I visited The Grill in Lone Pine recently, and unfortunately, it was a truly disappointing experience. I ordered a ribeye steak, medium-rare. After what felt like an unusually long wait, I let the waitress know I had to quickly unplug my car at the supercharger across the street and park it. When I returned, the steak was finally served, but the meal was a disaster: the steak was well-done, and the sides were raw. The meat seemed like it hadn’t been defrosted properly, as it was half-boiled in some parts. Clearly, the kitchen lacks basic cooking skills. When I politely asked the waitress to cancel the steak, she took the plate and loudly smashed it into the trash, causing other customers to look startled. She even admitted she “wanted to smash the plate.” Feeling unsafe by this aggressive behavior, I decided to leave. When I mentioned the steak was overcooked, she blamed me for moving my car, saying that’s why the steak overcooked—but she never warned me it was ready. I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for decent food or service. If you’re just after some French fries, maybe you’ll be okay, but otherwise, this is one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I’ve lived in Paris for 13 years. The service was incredibly aggressive, and the food was inedible. I hope management takes notice and reconsiders who’s running this place…
