Sat outside watching people stroll by. Everything we had was delicious: Tempura battered courgettes Veal cheek and mashed potatoes Casoncelli alla Bresciana butter and sage White chocolate cream with raspberry and basil There was nothing left on any of our plates. Our waiter was excellent and made a fantastic wine recommendation that my wife won't stop talking about (2010 De Triachi, Montecucco).

We came from a bad experience at another restaurant (il Girasole, where we booked for 9 p.m but our table was not even ready by 9 30) so we weren't expecting much. But they soon tried their best to accommodate us at Maria Callas, the waiters were extremely nice, courteous and always smiling and ready to help. They served us something from the house (fish entree' and bread and sticks). The pasta truffle was amazing !!!! The Rose' from Tuscany reccomandation was as well great. Tiramisu wasn't my favorite dessert ever but was ok.

My goodness….this restaurant is fantastic! It is in a beautiful location off the Main Street. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed the T-bone steak and it was cooked perfectly. I had the truffle pasta! The pasta was homemade and had a delicious truffle flavor. You will not be disappointed! Picture added to see the perfect patio location.

Restaurant Tavernetta Maria Callas is a beautiful little gem in the middle of the old town. They have a lovely wine selection, and I highly recommend the Montanale ‘La Conta’ 2019—we even plan to buy a few bottles before we leave! The shrimp and scallop appetiser was delicious, and I really recommend it. I had the pork suckling for the main course, which had fantastic flavors, though the skin wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. Definitely worth a visit when in Sirmione!

They were friendly and gave a complementary pickle dish, the bread was good but for €10 coperto, it’s minimum expectation. Very limited vegetarian options, they made me a very average tomato pasta, unfortunately tasted of truffle which I thoroughly dislike, I think this was transferred from my partner’s truffle pasta. My partner truffle pasta was ok I’ve had better and paid considerably less.

It all started well with the starter which I shared with my husband, the prawn dish pictured. It was lovely. I ordered Spaghettoni alla chitarra, aglio nero, gambero rosso, katsuobushi as my main. Bad decision. I have never sent back a meal so this was a first for me. I can’t even explain the confused flavours in this dish. I was incredibly disappointed. The beginning was good and atmosphere was pleasant. But my appetizer came at the same time than others main course. Spaghetti was bad. The veal steak was tasty.

To summarize it, very disappointed over this restaurant experience.  The risotto with crab was hopelessly oversalted, and was not pleasant to eat. The pasta with black garlic and shrimp lacked shrimp altogether (if not chopped to pieces too small to detect). The only thing saving this dinner from total disaster was the starter with flower zucchini, they had a nice and mild flavor. It is also disappointing that a restaurant that, in their image (and prices) tries to be better than the rest, serves the house redwine at 30 degrees room temperature, when everyone with basic wine knowledge can tell you red wine is best served at 14-18 degrees. Add to the misery that Tavernetta Maria Callas must have the highest coperto charge in Sirmione (4,50 pr. person), you can do so much better at a lower price in this busy summer village.
