After seeing everyone's reviews. Some people say they had bad service and some say it's great. Will it this is the same place I went to for my 1st time on my birthday October 1st 2018 was when I went. Service was great. I loved the food took home and ate my leftovers the next day. I know it's expensive but as long as the staff are great and serve good cause I got served well and the food be great I don't mind paying again for that high price. I want to take my Husband there tonight or tomorrow night for early Valentine's sence he's taking me to Frisco next week. Now I hope this is the same place where they cook the food in front of u. That's the restraunt I'm looking for the one that is right by Albertos on Hammer and I 5.
Great food decent price
A nice place with a family atmosphere. With a fairly good variety of dishes and with the "traditional" show on the grill while they prepare your food. In summary, a good place to eat and enjoy with friends, family, couples.
My fiance and I come here a lot. It's a bit pricey but we love it! The food is always great and the staff is always friendly and provide fantastic service, even when it's packed. We have been to a lot of places like this one, with the same style, but Shirasoni has remained our favorite. We have been comeing here about 3 times a month for the past year or two and have never had a bad experience.
This place was awesome. Staff were funny and attentive. Our Chef was fun to watch and interacted with the guests at the table. A great place to go on a date or a family outing. I would recommend to anyone. 5 Stars.
Best sushi 🍣 great atmosphere 😄
This was my first time going here. I heard a lot of great things. I see why now. It’s pricey but it’s worth every bit of it. You’re paying for the exceptional service, the show and the of course the great tasting food. Sushi rolls are excellent as well.
I'd say my visit here was pretty fun and warm hearted. I came here with a friend of mine and my kids so it is kid friendly. We were seated rather quickly and a waitress instantly started us off with drinks so that was a plus I believe she came with a salad and soup when she returned with our drinks aswel. Once we ordered our food there was an actual chef that came out to prepare our food right there in front of us and he put on a little show for us and kept us entertained so that was cool. The food was good I loved the fried rice and the shrimp very well seasoned and the steak was yummy too. Great food entertainment and fun perfect place for a date lol. My date ordered me something called a wasaki bomber if I remember it correctly when we were waiting for the chef to come and it gave me a nice little buzz had another one with my food and let's just say two of those will have you feeling nice 👍 it was a perfect pregame before we headed out to the club 😂😉
I still have good rating because I would say I have been to this restaurant about 9 times. Definitely ask for the teppanyaki table. I had better service on that side. This last time I was on the other side. I'm not sure if waitress was new but I have been here many times never seen her but she didn't give me items I asked for and her service was extremely slow... Asking or flatware and drinks , napkins...basics that she doesn't have to wait on someone else. I have been to the other locations and also had great service but the service was not good this last time. I presume that you just have better service because they want to keep things at a faster pace at teppanyaki table.
Man this place is a great place to bring the family or have a night out with friends. You get amazing food and some great entertainment. All though of you don't take up a full table you will be seated with other people to fill the table. The food is fresh and the chefs are fun and skilled. We brought my toddler and he liked it. They also have good drinks and sushi. The rolls are good price and big.
This restaurant is always filled with people because the food is so good. The cooks always are enthusiastic and witty. The food has always been cooked perfectly for me and my family whenever we go. It's also very welcoming and child-friendly. I would recommend the scallops.
We come here a few times a year. Food is always very good and they are not overpriced like Domo at Lincoln Center. Plus, if you buy the gift certificates from Costco you save 20%. The experience is always enjoyable. Can't wait until they fully open again.
We enjoyed great steak and shrimp. The garlic rice with Goody Goody sauce is the best. I had an apple martini which was amazing. This is a great place for special family occasions or meeting up with friends. Look for a good deal at Costco or sign up for their text reminders and emails for special deals. Love this place!
My best friend orders take out from here quite often. I picked it up last week. Next time I'm ordering my steak rare because by the time it gets home it's well done. The salad is great, but I miss getting the miso soup with the take out!
My family's favorite restaurant in Stockton! Food is amazing, comes with a show from the chef. I haven't tried ANYTHING I didn't like here from drinks, appetizers, sushi, sides, and desserts! Recommend to make a reservation no matter what day to reduce your wait and if you're really feeling it and want a more calm vibe go in afternoon. Be prepared to be seated with people you don't know unless you have a party of 8 or more. Not a intimate dinner. Perfect for a first date.
One of my favorite restaurants to dine at. Good food, entertaining chef, and waiter and waitress were eager to serve, etc.
Great food and a good time! I would say being charged $50 gratuity with poor service was a problem. I like good food so they still get the 5 stars. Our chef was awesome and very kind and kept is entertained. The waitress did not do well as our drinks were always empty and we had to constantly to flag her over.
We had a great time. However the girl seating us was super rude. Our cook Hugo was amazing like always and the food was so good. Our waitress was on top of things also.
Our chef kept the table and atmosphere feeling welcomed. Very entertaining and was making others laugh.
I love how good they always make my to-go orders. They aren’t sloppy & they are so sweet & will definitely come back.
Best birthday ever, great food!
Love the food service and ambiance in Shirosoni . They staff is amazing and always friendly and welcoming. My 3 yr old son doesn’t like the fire so we sit in a nice little section just for him so he doesn’t have to see the flames on the grill. We ordered Tempura Shrimp and Garlic rice and there delicious steak. Cook perfectly and made to perfection. Great food and sauces too. Always a great time.
Great place to take your family to go eat or celebrations. The staff are amazing, friendly, and welcoming. The chefs are great and knowledgeable. The price is reasonable. Great food, location, and good service. Sushi is also great here.
This place was the bomb! Super fast service, delicious food and amazing prices and the atmosphere was perfect! I’d love to come back here :)
Love the place always great people too.
The food is really good my fave is the scallops, filled mignon, and the garlic fried rice! The salad is amazing as well love the dressing. The soup is really good as well.
Kicked it with brother in law first time eating sushi and was a hit!!
Food was delicious and the experience was outstanding. It was kinda pricey though. The chef had some skills cooking the food.
I choose to go to this place for my birthday. I highly recommend to reserve a spot ahead of time. I reserved my spot for myself and my family around 11:30pm, and I was able to book at 5:30 for 12 people. They have a convenient online reservation service, and I liked that a lot. If you reserve for 9-12 you will be at a table with only those people. If you book for less people then you will sit with strangers that go to eat as well. So that’s just a heads up so you’re aware. I purposely came here so my nieces, nephew, and my kids can enjoy the chef cooking in front of them. The kids loved it, and the chef was very entertaining to us all. The food was great, and I wish I had a big stomach to eat everything because it was really good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and we had no complaints. The fried rice here is really good. I’d say it was the best fried rice I ever had. Anyway, I will surely come here again with my family.
Yesterday, my family and I went to Shirasoni's Japanese Restaurant for my Lady's Birthday!!! 🎂🎉 We had a group of 12 and didn't have to wait too long, because of our Reservation!!! Reservations are highly recommended here because they can get really busy!!! Their hospitality is great, the atmosphere is always full of high energy, and the food is on point!!! Most of the time we visit, it's for some type of celebration!!! We know we will eat good and have a great time, so that 18% gratuity for a party of four or more doesn't seem so bad!!! If you want Teppanyaki, this is the place to go!!! 💪🏿
We have had several birthdays here and I am always pleased with how easy it is to make a reservation. Like most places the entire party must be present in order to be seated. However, even though three people from my party were running late, they allowed us to be seated because we agreed to put in their orders. So simple and accommodating! The food, service, and atmosphere are consistently top notch.
Definitely a sushi place to go to if you have never gotten sushi before. They have a lot of options and not only that I can definitely say it is filling for sure the rolls are bigger than you think they would be. I would recommend getting the Lion King as that was the one I liked the most.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary at Shirasoni tonight. It was not as packed as usual, being a Sunday. That was nice since it was a last-minute decision, and we didn't need to make reservations to be seated quickly. The server and chef were great- friendly and attentive. The food was awesome, as usual. My husband ordered the steak and chicken with garlic fried rice. I ordered a roll with stuffed jalapeños on top (can't remember the name now). I'm sure we'll be back next month for one of our boys' birthdays. He always picks Shirasoni for his birthday dinner.
we always have such an amazing time here! big portions of food so I always have leftovers! they are very accommodating and know how to make someone feel special on their birthday! they also can guarantee no cross contamination with shellfish as they clean the grill very well between each use. just let them know and they will cook the shellfish after everything else has been completed. I highly recommend the terriyaki chicken meal, i replace the steamed rice with garlic fried rice! 🤤 definitely recommend going here!!
We went for a bday party. We had made a reservation and we still had to wait 40 mins to sit down, food was delicious as always. Our cook at our table was very simple. My kid and the other kids at our table kept looking at the other tables for the shows.
Excellent food best teppanyaki restaurant in town. Service varies for the most part for dinner the servers are overwhelmed, understaffed and not attentive. The chefs for the most part are engaging, friendly and really good at their craft. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 10+ years and we will continue to patronize it.
Great food!. Nice server and great chef. But greeter was not really friendly. Maybe she had a bad day?? I heard otherwise. They should have someone friendly with a smile on her face
This restaurant is always delicious. The cooks are always personable and entertaining. The atmosphere is really nice during dinner, you may have a little wait but the bar is fun too. Definitely worth the money.
My eldest son likes this spot & wanted his lady & I to try it out (Mother's Day 🍽️) I have to say.... it was THE BOMB!!!!! I absolutely loved the fried oysters, ohh & my Lion Rolls were off the 🧱 too 😋 The ONLY thing, was the seating was a VERY "tight". Other than that, I'm planning on definitely going back........soon to 😋🤤😉
The wait can be a bit long at times, but when you leave with a big belly and a stuffed to happiness smile on your face you can't help but be happy! Hostess could be a bit more inviting (doesn't smile much). Great service from the cook and wait staff!
Always a fun place. I've been here several times. Adult kids love to come for their birthdays. Service is above average. You must make reservations because walk ins always a challenge because they are always busy. Sushi side not as much. If you have never been, I recommend you try the place out at least once. Little on the pricey side. However, it's a great time with good food.
Prices are decent, food was great, entertainment was good. However, our hostess was almost rude but totally dismissive and inattentive. Tried to flag her down to order drinks but totally ignored half of our table waving. Felt rushed to leave as soon as the food was served. Also, one recommendation to the owners, on nights where the temperature is as cold as it is outside, don’t have the vents /hood turned off immediately after the show, food INSTANTLY got cold from the frigid down draft. It felt like “eat fast and get out” Still a fun time!
The service is great and the food is really delicious. I don't know if it's worth the price though. They are exceptionally expensive for what you receive. It's was busy the two times we've eaten there, and we've enjoyed our cook and showmanship. The atmosphere is more family oriented, the tables are setup where you share space at a table with others around a grill. So, if you're on a first date and want a more cozy setting this is not that type of place. If you're interested in meeting people and are outgoing, you will love this place. It's a lot of fun from that perspective.
Went here for Bday celebration and it was good. Made a reservation prior to going, easy checkin and seating. Cook was nice and talkative and attentive. They were pretty busy and drinks were a little slow. The experience was nice, not somewhere I would go every weekend but nice for a special occasion. Good Kids menu, the food was good and alot.
How can you not enjoy eating good food prepared before your very own eyes? Fresh seafood, meat, and vegetables. All prepared by the chef on a huge grill surrounded by diners. Excellent service. Comparable prices. I gave it 4 stars because of the service fee charged. I think it was 20% or something. It's like a forced tip.
The serving sizes are great, but are mostly rice and veggies. The food has always been good. The service was great on this visit. For our family of 6 we spent over $200. They place an automatic 18% gratuity for any parties over 4 people... every time we visit our clothes smell like the restaurant for the rest of the day. Still.. We'll return, someday because my wife loves the salad.
If you get the chef to cook, you will be sharing with others as long as you do not mind that. Not a great place to talk to guests and enjoy food for a while as we felt rushed out by employees at the grills but maybe it's different at tables Food It was very good. Rolls are a 15dollars up but the grill food has a good portion. Overall enjoyed food
Mid in every way. I got the stake and shrimp. Everything was bland. However the stake was prepared medium just as I asked. They was about the only positive.
Always fun to meet new people while you enjoy your dinner. However, watch how your food is cooked. I had chicken that was under cooked. By the time I got to it though, the chef was gone. Couldn't eat a lot of it. Still a fun experience with only that hiccup.
Sushi was amazing. The problem was the service. My wife and I went on a Tuesday afternoon. We waited for fifteen minutes before anybody acknowledged us. We were just about to leave. After that we were finally seated. They gave us two plates for our sushi. One was really dirty. We asked for a replacement plate three different times. Never got one. Like I said food was amazing, but don't go there expecting great service.
Went to the restaurant on Valentine's night for dinner. Not the brightest idea even though we had reservations. It's a small place to begin with & even smaller waiting room. The waiting room was over crowded with people & we were waiting by the door on a windy, rainy night. Our reservation was at 5:30pm, didnt get sat down until 6:20pm. Lucky for us the chef we had went super quick. He was friendly, did his tricks, cooked & was gone. The drinks were ok, not very strong. The food was decent & the staff was attentive. The place looks a little run down, like it could use a little upgrade. Not the upscale place I was expecting. More of a so-so type of spot. Nothing extremely special but nevertheless decent food & staff. Not my usual go to spot but I'd go back maybe once a year.
Had the hibachi steak and chicken. Steak was dry and didn't have much flavor, but the terriaki chicken was great. I didn't like the dressing on the salad much. I probably needed it on the side but the rice and veggies were good.
I come here often with my kids. Lately there is a certain waitress that always has an attitude. Her face and personality throws my experience off. I love the food and most of the employees but shes very rude. If there was a better place in town, I would go.
The atmosphere and staff are fantastic. You are guaranteed a good time here. The food though, well it is very average. What is cooked at your table you can make at home as well or better, and the sushi rolls won't blow you away. I must reiterate, you will have a great time here with friends and family!
10/2018 The server played too much, burned the veggies. The resteraunt became extremely Smokey, it was just like out side with all this wild fire smoke. Became unbearable for my elderly grandmother so we had to rush out and end our birthday celebration. 5/29/19 Upon my return to shirasoni I noticed my plate had these tiny black fiberous looking things on my plate, I wiped them off but then they kept appearing in my plate agin. I am not sure if they are falling down from the old ceiling or if it is due to inadequate ventilation.
It was Sunday night, but the place was pretty full. We were seated at the bar right away. Our waitress must have been very new. She forgot the hot tea we ordered, did not know the term "Whiskey neat," had to double check our order because I went slightly off menu (please add razor-thin sliced lemon slices to my sushi roll), and delivered the wrong tempura dish. Whatever, she was trying hard. I ordered the Golden Shower roll. That is not really the name, but is close and more accurate. The lemon slices were too thick, but it was the fact they left the seeds in that gave me my first visual clue the sushi chef hated his job AND was terrible at it. The spicy tuna roll was decent. My local supermarket sells better. They super skimped on the actual fish. The rolls were 3/4 rice and 1/4 regret. On the bright side, I heard four different groups sing Happy Birthday from the other side of the restaurant. So, someone was having a good time. All in all, it was road side sushi in Stockton. Translation: I got what was coming to me.
Came here for the drinks and the bartender does not work on the weekends....I've went to the one in brentwood plenty of times and thought it might be the same since me and my family always go there but I was very wrong. Asked for my steak to be rare and came out well done, soup tasted very oily, vegetables were burnt yet under cooked and soggy and the rice was under cooked as well. I don't understand how 2 locations could be very different but at least now I know to drive the 45 min to go to brentwood if I want Shirasoni. The waitress was nice and the raspberry tea was good at least but honestly I recommend to go to brentwood if you are planning on trying Shirasoni!
I get take out all the time and dine in occasionally. This last time I went was horrible. I got the happy roll like I always do and when i opened the box to eat my meal I was really disappointed. The first four rolls had nothing in it but sour cream. Mind you these are supposed to have shrimp in them. As I went on the ones that did have shrimp had all the shell pieces in them. Every bite I took was crunchy and it was awful. I also got the veggie tempura. The sweet potatoes were not soft how they are supposed to be they were really crunchy. They also never answer their phone. It seems like if you don't dine in they don't pay attention to how your meal is cooked because your going to take it home. Never again.
Food was good. But wasn't much of a show. I took my daughter for her first birthday cause I wanted them to sing happy birthday. I told the waitress when we first sat down no one ever came to sing I asked the chef he said he'd send someone over and 5 minutes into us a eating a different waitress came to ask if we were ready for boxes. I told her no thank you not yet we just started eating. They brought us the check and I asked the waitress if anyone was going to sing my daughter happy birthday after spending $400 on a dinner for 4 (3adults) she said "I guess they must have forgot sorry". I was left upset cause it's a tradition I do with my family. Hoped to carry on.💔
I went on my birthday. I had no idea that they wanted to charge us a gratuity it was just me and my husband. They wanted to sit Us near other people that we did not know as a group. The people were Hispanic we did not feel comfortable sitting at their table as though we were a group. This place is very deceiving. She said on special holidays we charge a gratuity and we have to feel the table up
Food just wasn't all that good. Soup was cold, garlic rice was bland. Steak and tuna were overcooked and also bland. The free side salad was good though lol. Won't order from here anymore unfortunately. Just didn't like it
I won’t be coming back! Only came because someone recommended.! The girl taking my order said the dinner was bigger than the lunch...paid $30 for basically rice! & was charged $3.00 for mushrooms and there are barely any! 1st & last time coming.
NO....Was seated before 6pm on Saturday night. We had to scan the menu and as soon as my friend did, his phone started getting hacked. Waitress didn't know what beers they had, and didn't know what a half caraf of wine was. Soup wasn't miso and lacked taste. The salad had a tangy sour dressing on it, not regular Japanese salad dressing. We ordered calamari as soon as we sat down and the family seated 10 minutes after us rec'd their appetizers before we did. When the calamari arrived it was fried frozen ring calamari, it was okay. We were rushed thru the whole dinner. As soon as the grill chef plated the last of our food and before we took our first bite, the waitress asked if we needed any to go boxes. We had to ask for a second round of drinks. Service sucked. Food was okay but pricey, will not go back. There are other higher quality teppanyaki places to go to in the area.
I'm sure this would have been a great meal experience. I'm betting the food would have been good. But we walked out, our entire party of 6 adults. Why, you may ask? Because, as we were seated, the hostess explained that, after our meal was prepared and served, we had 30 mins to eat and leave. Tacky. Tacky. Tacky. Just pure tackiness. We left and went to a steak house where we were welcomed and could relax after our meal and visit. Plenty of available tables. We would NOT recommend Shirasoni's. We don't want to be treated like a herd of cattle. Moo!
Overrated. Poor customer service. Wait was almost 2 hrs just to be seated. Very negative vibe in my experience. It may be just me, but I don’t understand how the list of people getting sat was getting longer. The host never apologized nor seem to care or have respect for the patrons. If you must try avoid peak hours. The tepenyaki show is popular. Food is hit and miss.
Placed an order for pick up and food was cold, calamari was $12+ and it was the driest calamari I’ve ever had in my life. No flavor and hard, rubbery. I found a hair in my food and let it slide but then I found more than 1 hair in my fried rice after digging through it. Disgusting. Short dark hairs, look like from the scalp. Loved this place too but that’s unacceptable. Hopefully they do something about it.
Been going for over 20 years. Worst service yet! 2nd person in door at 430pm. Order dragon roll to eat at table while waiting for a filet and shrimp dinner to go to be cooked. Everyone around me getting their food I have nothing. Half hour later bring me the wrong meal to go and they inform me they forgot to put in my dragon roll order. Will never go back
I give it one star because the cashier terrible service his name Daniel, I think this guy is good for the dishwasher. Position The cooker it’s very good. I give this five star.
I had a bad experience. I normally don't like to complain but the service was so bad, I just had to bring it up to the manager. The server needed more training before serving customers. We sat at a table because hibachi seating was full. Normally miso soup and salad is brought out first before the meal after ordering. Our meal came out first and it was cold. I was never asked how I wanted my steak but they cooked It well done. I didn't realize I wasn't asked till I looked at my steak. So needless to say it was dry and chewy. We mentioned to our server the fact that we never got our salads. She quickly went and brought us 4 salads since at this point didn't want our soups. The lettuce in the salads had signs of turning brown on the edges. I wasn't going to say anything but there were too many mistakes, I just had to. I first paid our bill of $85 plus a tip. Although the service was bad, she still did provide a service, that was worth something. After explaining our displeasure to the manager, she gave us a $15 gift card. I might have to consider other Japanese restaurants in the future.
We ordered three take out dinners it cost over $100!!! The soup was ice cold and I asked for extra sauce and got 4 sauces for three Dinners. While I understand prices have gone up everywhere I would expect to get quality food. Cold soup and a salad with literally three pieces of lettuce is not acceptable. I mean the soup was ice cold!! You could even feel thru the container that it was cold so why would the person bagging the food think it’s ok to sell that to a customer??? In addition I didn’t want vegetables with my dinner and requested they replace with rice. They charged me $2 extra for no vegetables. Are you kidding me?? So if I asked for no veggies and no extra rice to replace the veggies would you adjust the price downward for not getting veggies? I bet you wouldn’t. So you shouldn’t be charging extra if I ask for rice instead of vegetables. This is horrible business. Especially since you already charge $2 for garlic fried rice instead of regular rice when it’s just garlic butter you add to it. Certainly not $2 worth! I’m very disappointed and was going to call to talk to the manager but they were already closed for the night. Please don’t serve cold soup to people and at least fill up your salad container. My goodness it’s only lettuce, there literally is nothing else in the salad but iceberg lettuce. I have been a long time customer and this is so disheartening. It will be a long time before I eat here again, if ever!
Larger sized gal who greets you be replaced. I waited over 20 minutes for order ahead, I mentioned I had a prior order. She ' couldn't find it' food sat in the corner was cold when received. Lack of customer service, it was as if I had the plague.
I like to eat out for sushi every once in a while and found this place as it had lots of reviews and went to try it. Ordered 4 sushi dishes for pick up and when eating they ruined my taste of sushi with plain flavor and supper soggy rice which is bad and I mean bad!!! They would fall apart even trying to pick them up like a trying a rice soup. The jalapeño poppers were not any good either and the only thing that came out ok was the edamame. I would not recommend this place!! But that is my experience.
The food was mediocre at best. The Happy Roll was decent. The Calamari was interesting. I'm not sure about that. The staff was eating behind the counter in full view of the customer's . We waited for the bill as they ate.
Hearing my total for an appetizer, 2 rolls, and a kids meal cake to $90 was the first issue. I paid it, as prices are getting higher everywhere and my family wanted sushi. We get our food home and has a long list of issues. 1. The sushi was no better than Safeway sushi 2. All of the food was undercooked and not season AT ALL. The most bland food I’ve had all year. 3. The tempura appetizer wasn’t an appetizer, but a full meal that we didn’t ask for but got charged for. It was bland, soggy and didn’t come with sauce. 4. The kids chicken dinner was so tough, my 5 year old son couldn’t finish chewing it and had to spit it out. 5. The lettuce in the salads was red all throughout. Rotten. Disgusting. I will never go here again, and if it wasn’t so late, I would drive all this food back and demand my money back, but they’re closed. Beyond mad.
This past Tuesday, February 18, I took 2 of my grandchildren to Shirasoni. It was my grandson 12 birthday. It was the worst experience I have had there. We all had the New York steak & shrimp, steak was tender, but lacked seasoning. I ordered the garlic fried rice, which you pay extra, it also lacked flavor. Which the chef was only making 2 orders of fried rice, so maybe he only made regular fried rice. We shared the grill with a party of 5, but 4 out of the 5 ordered sushi. The chef wasn't the normal interactive chef we have had in the past. This was the most disappointing trip to Shirasoni.
They charge gratuity at 18% for 4 people (two adults two kids) and add the tax amount to the total BEfore applying gratuity. I'm sorry but 183$ for two adult and two kids is ridiculous. The kids meal 18$ then charge 2$ extra for fried rice. Literally apart of the normal cooking in front of you. To top it all off 2 of us got upset stomach and had a long night
The host was very nice. Let me say however, the food was ridiculous. The steak is dry I order two steak and chicken.. And one teriyaki chicken lunch special and my daughter only had vegetables and garlic rice in her plate all three salads had soggy lettuce as if it had been sitting over the time limit. Just sad. Once I got back home and checked our food is when noticed the order wasn’t right. Also I’ve tried to call them however you know they close at 2:30 but we want to eat food now, I’ve never had this problem but one other time
I’m very disappointed! I had order shrimp, steak and chicken meal and this here was very disappointing! I have gotten some old veggies that are very soggy and not fresh at all, shrimp taste very mushy and steak was very dry! I have got some sauce for my salad and i don’t think they gave me the right dressing for it! This here is not cheap and very upsetting. Can’t even enjoy my lunch break at work!
