Haraz Coffee in Sugar Land is praised for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and unique Yemeni coffee experience. The Pistachio Latte and Bee Bites are highly recommended. Some find the prices a bit high for daily visits, but overall it's a great place for coffee and desserts.

Pretty surprised how well the steak and eggs turned out for $10.99. Comes with 6oz steak and had a side not pictured (soup). Came away pretty full and the steak hit the spot. What you get is pretty close to what the picture shows (it’s off menu for limited time) Only reason service wasn’t 5 stars is they were a bit short staffed. Waiter was nice and good came out hot.
This is a very aesthetically bear themed place. It's very cute & wholesome. I had a very nice & prompt waitress & everything I ordered came out fast. The portion sizes are HUGE, FYI. Everything was very tasty & satisfying. I went kinda early so there wasn't a lot of traffic but after dining in for a bit I started seeing the tables being filled & a lot of families coming in with large groups for breakfast.
We had such a great experience at Black Bear Diner! Everything was amazing — the food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. A special thank-you to Isreal, our server, for the wonderful care and attention. He made our visit even better with his friendly service and great attitude. We’ll definitely be coming back!
We stopped in as we were craving breakfast for dinner. Portions were huge and food was pretty good. Definitely think the random lettuce and orange slices are not needed in the dishes. The hash’s browns could have been cooked longer but it all has great flavor. The French toast was definitely my fave though would recommend 100%. Everything was fresh and enjoyed the quiet calm atmosphere, food, service, and how clean everything was. Prices were also great.
Another wonderful visit courtesy of Black Bear! I believe we're on a 1st name basis with Dionne by now. She's ah-mazing! We had about 15 people, yet our server Quintin showed up & showed out! Great food with even better service. The hostess Dorrian was also very friendly and accommodating of our family. Thanks for always making us feel welcome. See you all next time.
The food here was surprisingly amazing. Visited another black bear and in the past, it was mediocre at best. Pancakes were very delicious and the Grizz meal is very fulfilling. Also the homemade hot sauce condiment were a nice touch. The Papa bear hot sauce is hot but bearable. I think I will revist this place more often if I am in the area! Great service, food and affordable!
We came after a band competition to bring some family who hadn’t been. The food was amazing! Not a single thing wrong with our order. Catherine was the best service we’ve ever had at a Black Bear Diner and we’ve been to a few!! We would absolutely come back to this location and hope to have Catherine again!!
What a nice cozy diner! I got the new chicken caesar salad and it tasted really good! Big portion for a good price! Shout out to Israel for giving AMAZING service, having great recommendations and knowing the menu from the back of his hand. Would highly recommend coming here! Thank you Black Bear! Thank you Israel!
Not my first rodeo Came here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Ordered the egg scramble. Food - very large portions that can honestly be shared. Biscuits are HUGE. Everything was cooked well and the potatoes were seasoned just right. Food is also reasonably priced. Staff - server was really friendly and attentive with a good personality. She came by a couple times to make sure we were good. Location - appeared clean and well maintained with plenty of room. Bathrooms were clean as well. I would recommend you try it. Also based on the table sizes and room they seem to be able to accommodate large parties.
Q was my server he did an amazing job! The food, service and drinks were great. Me and my mom got mimosas 10/10 recommend.
I’ve always been curious about Black Bear Diner and I finally tried it today. The interior is so charming! I love all the bear themed decor from the bear poles to the bears hanging off the roof. There’s fun quips on the chairs. As for the service. We were quickly and kindly greeted and seated! Our server, Israel, is so funny and helpful! We had trouble choosing because they have too many amazing options on the menu (which was super cute btw cause the menu was designed to look like a newspaper). They also serve breakfast all day and have pies that look so good, but I opted for a milkshake instead. I ordered the new avocado toast with egg and sprinkled some black pepper on it. It was so good! The avocado tasted so fresh. Instead of the fruit, I got a side of hash browns. They were crispy! All in all, I highly recommend Black Bear Diner! The environment, service, and food were all amazing! Thank you Israel for the awesome service!
My family loves coming here for great food in large portions. I consistently enjoy what I eat here, and the atmosphere makes it even better. If you like bears, or if you just like good food, you will like this place. Last time I went I had a server, Catherine, who was particularly helpful.
Israel was our server and he was really nice. Food was really good and came out fairly quickly. I’m glad I had my Thanksgiving meal here!
I enjoyed the Black Bear Diner for it's delicious steak at a very good price. I like the newspaper menu, that's a nice touch. Staff were friendly and service was quick. I recommend this place if you're feeling like having a good steak.
The absolute biggest breakfast plate I have ever seen. The Grizz. Wonderful staff who work well together.
I recently visited the Black Bear Diner in University Sugarland for lunch, and I had such a wonderful experience! Our server, Israel, was absolutely fantastic. He was not only friendly and attentive but also made sure our meal was served promptly and with a smile. It really made the meal feel special! The atmosphere at the diner was cozy, warm, and inviting, like eating at a friend's home. It had that classic "homey" vibe, with charming décor and a relaxed ambiance that made it easy to enjoy our time there. It felt like the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a good meal. Highly recommend this spot, especially if you're looking for a laid-back, welcoming dining experience!
The breakfast was Elegant and Superior. Most excellent service I have ever had. The wait staff, the MANAGEMENT, Was one in a million. As beautiful as morning dew on a rose, thats how excellent the restaurant and staff was. I will recommend this place for my friends and Family. The music was on great. When you come, you actually feel like family. Honestly deserves more stars!
I would like to begin by saying that I loved how welcoming the atmosphere was. As soon as I entered the building, I was greeted immediately. The space was beautifully organized, allowing for a stunning view of everything. It was a very clean establishment and looked impeccable. I enjoyed a chai with my mother, and the flavor was incredibly refreshing while the aroma was delightful. The temperature was perfect. This amazing place comes highly recommended for individuals, families, and students.
upon entering the establishment i was greeted by the morning staff .i was recommended the pistachio latte and it was delightful. highly recommend this place. great service, polite and honestly a memorable experience. Unfortunately i can’t come again because i am visiting from out of state but Highly recommend if you are local to check this location out.
This place is a hidden gem! I’ve came here quite a few times already but today I was met with amazing customer service by the owners. I ordered something of what thought I got previously from one of my visits but it ended up being something different than what I expected. While I was initially confused, the owner kindly approached me and was able to replicate what I was looking for. While I was only curious to what the drink I had before was (which was the mango smoothie) the owner made the drink I wanted at no additional cost. The one I ordered by mistake ended up being something I really liked which was the mango dragon fruit drink. I never had a dragon fruit drink that tasted this good before. The ambiance and location of this place is perfect. Definitely recommend!
Amazing experience. The floors were clean. The ambiance was great. The place felt very welcoming. I ordered the chocolate croissant and halal beef roll. They were both delicious. The staff was very friendly. I even overheard the cashier at the end of my visit interacting with a couple who was speaking to her in her language. She was very kind and complimented their annunciation. The food was great, but that little interaction at the end is the reason I’ll be back. Great example of hospitality by that young lady.
Haraz Coffee House in Sugar Land instantly became one of my favorite finds. The moment you step inside, you can feel the character of the place—rich culture, warm energy, and a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. It’s beautifully designed, comfortable, and perfect for everything from quiet work sessions to casual meetups. I was really impressed by the quality of their drinks and food. The flavors are bold, fresh, and clearly made with care. Their coffee stands out, and the specialty drinks are worth exploring. This spot has a unique charm that sets it apart from other cafés in the area. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to!
Haraz Coffee House in Sugar Land has such a bright and welcoming ambiance—it’s an ideal spot whether you’re working, studying, or meeting up with a friend. The space is open and airy, with plenty of seating indoors and a nice outdoor area as well. I tried the Pistachio Frappe and was seriously impressed—it had the perfect balance of sweetness and strong coffee flavor, easily one of the best I’ve had. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of what they have to offer!
Pros: astoundingly delicious savory and sweet food, plenty of seating, outdoor seating, great service, delicious hot drinks, peaceful atmosphere Cons: iced drinks are terrible, unsweetened drinks are undrinkable (employees do warn you about this though) I've been to Qamaria and Haraz, and I find Haraz to be the better Yamini coffee place. Employees will warn you that the hot drinks take a while to make, so if you're in a hurry come back another time. But! If you don't mind waiting a little (usually about 10min) you are in for quite the delicious treat! Also, they serve hot drinks brutally hot, so DO NOT try to drink it immediately. But hey, once it cools down a little, their hot drinks are the best 😊 Their hot Harzai Mufawar and Maleki are amazing! I also highly recommend their beef pastry, chicken and cheese pastry, mango dessert, and Nutella kunafa (even though it's really rich). And even though I can't stand to drink sweetened drinks (unsweetened tea and 0% sweetness boba tea, all the way!), I can't do their drinks unsweet; the employees will warn you it's a bad idea, and trust me, it really is as bad as they say, so do yourself a favor and get regular sweetness. Overall, I highly recommend!
I cannot say enough great things about this location. Every time me and my son come in we are greeted with such kindness and attentiveness. The coffee is exceptional! The ambiance is relaxing. I am so grateful to have found a place that feels community oriented and is so beautiful.
Late review: Since I’m new to Sugarland, I asked my friend to surprise me with some coffee shops. My friend took me here & it surely a different experience. First time at a Yemeni cafe/restaurant. We ordered Pistachio latte and Bee bites. Bee bites were interestingly good. Looked like honey comb structure, very soft and stuffed with cheese inside served with honey on the side. I really loved it. It was not heavy but was very good. Pistachio latte was so rich in flavor & I liked it. Ambiance was great. Large place with a lot of tables inside and outside (patio) and good amount of natural light coming inside the cafe.
This is my favorite coffee shop! The interior is decorated nicely and there is plenty of seating. The coffee here is delicious. The beans have a very unique taste. I tried the iced caramel latte which was perfect. I also tried the milk cake and honeycomb bread which were also really good. Highly recommend!!
Haraz Coffee House is an absolute cozy ambiance that feels both welcoming and vibrant. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. I tried their saffron latte and was blown away by the rich flavors, perfectly infused with the flavor. Try their rose milk cake—it’s a must-try! The atmosphere is perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment alone. Overall, Haraz Coffee House at Sugar Land is a fantastic spot with exceptional coffee. Highly recommend!
The place was pretty good overall. We weren’t really a fan of the eggs, but the waffles were great and definitely the highlight of the meal. Our server was also great and helpful, which made the experience even better. The only downside was the wait when it came time to pay. We stood at the counter for quite a while, and when someone finally came to check us out, they seemed pretty annoyed that we were even there. That part definitely took away from an otherwise nice visit.
Everything was hussle bussle. Im not sure who was our waiter, different people brought our food, filled water gkasses, bussed dishes. All confusing. But thats ok. Food was steady good as all black bears are. I had hot turkey open face. Very good. So here's why i deducted one star. I took part of my meal home. Went to heat it up and the container was completely melted over the food. Im an experienced microwave user. Warning: THE TO GO CONTAINERS ARE NOT MICROWAVABLE.
I dropped by Haraz Coffee House around 11:30 PM last night—loved the roomy, beautifully lit space and the friendly, efficient staff. The atmosphere feels vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a late-night catch‑up or solo unwind. I ordered the Harazi Mufawar coffee—you know, trying to go bold—but it ended up way too bitter for my taste. Definitely not my cup of tea (literally). Still, I appreciate the authenticity they’re going for with their Yemeni coffee lineup. I didn’t try any food last night (too late for me), but I spotted plenty of sweet treats—kanafa, Dubai chocolates—and heard raves about items like their pistachio drinks and pumpkin spice latte. That’s going to be me next visit! All in all: stylish spot, warm service, and a cool taste adventure—just be prepared for strong flavors if you venture into the traditional brews. I’ll be going back soon to taste some of their most-recommended snacks and maybe a gentler latte.
Big portions, affordable price, and great customer service is always a win! We came here on a random weekday. Our waiter greeted us quickly and offered many recommendations. The food then came out warm and quick, which is always a plus. The newspaper styed menu was also cute and unique. For a diner, the food definitely did not disappoint. I will be back whenever in Sugar Land and craving diner food.
The staff and atmosphere is great, however the drinks are quite expensive for daily consumption. I come here to study with my friends a lot and I’ve never had a bad experience but I do find myself spending quite a bit for just a coffee. Great place to chill however their prices have increased over the years. Usually packed on after school weekdays and Sunday afternoons. Do NOT get the desserts/sweet treats they offer. Many times I have regretted buying such sweets due to their insane costliness. The Dubai chocolate SUCKS. The biscoff cake SUCKS. The caramel cake SUCKS. The bee bites are GOOD. The croissants are GOOD. Anything sweet treat-y is usually bad but the baked goods are fine. The drinks are great. I personally recommend the hot chocolate and lattes.
I am currently a high school student who comes only once in a while if I want to study late into the night. So in total, I have probably only came around 20 times. You might be wondering what sparked my interest in writing a review, since this is also my very first written review. Well, I was TRYING to study late at night and though Haraz would be a great place as I come due to its late closing. However, it was SOO LOUD. It is usually very loud, but it has never been THAT LOUD, Although I can see this place as a good hangout spot for socializing. It is definitely not the place for any form of studying. It is so unbearably loud and annoying to be studying here compared to any other alternative cafe. You would think that coming in late would void any loud noise but you are completely wrong, I realized that the later it gets, the louder it becomes as well. Personally, I have a very good tolerance for noise as I often study at many different cafes, whether big branched or small. But Haraz is a place I constantly avoid unless there were no other places open, due to the nature and atmosphere of the cafe. In addition, the tables and chairs are also not studying friendly as I find them comfortable over a long period of time. Regardless, I find the food and drink above average at Haraz, yet that is to be expected with the high price point these items are at. So, do I recommend this place? 100% not, if you are a student who is looking for a place to study there are better alternatives in the plaza, but if you are just coming to socialize, then I would say this is a decent place if you come and enjoy the food and drinks. In my personal opinion, the food and drink is nothing special and taste rather ordinary (coming from someone not picky at all btw) expected for the price point, nothing stands out to me as beyond average for its price. The chairs and tables are satisfactory for conversation (not studying) and the employees sometimes seem annoyed (maybe its because its night time when I come). In conclusion, come to talk but be prepared to talk loud. Last time I came with my friend to talk, she could barely hear me at the bigger tables. And if you come to study, bring very good noise cancelling headphones and a back brace because your back and ears will be hurting. Q. Why market yourself as a place good for students and studying yet have SO MANY CHILDREN, running around screaming at 9-11 PM. >Pleases have your staff tell them to be quiet it is frankly unbearable and why I left earlier then anticipaited Also their matcha is super mid.. please get smth else
