If you want a truly authentic diner experience, this place is it. The vibe is exactly what you hope for when you think of a classic small-town diner in the mountains. The food was delicious, the menu had a great variety, and everything came out incredibly fast. What really made the visit special was the very friendly beautiful Selena — she made the whole place feel warm and welcoming. The diner was clean, cozy, and had that genuine local charm you can’t fake. After a long hike to the waterfall, stopping here felt absolutely perfect. Good food, quick service, and that relaxed small-town mountain atmosphere — exactly what you want after a day on the trail. Girl, your makeup is awesome 😎❤️
Heading to North Lake to hike we met friends at Selenas Dinner for lunch. We have driven past it many times over the years but this was our first visit here. It’s an old time dinner. The menu has pages of items to choose from. Service was excellent. Our server came over as soon as we sat down and the busboy refilled our drinks when they were getting low. I had a Cuban sandwich with fries. My wife and one friend had grilled cheese sandwiches. Our other friend had broccoli and cheddar omelet. Stumbled upon this diner on the way home from a quick ski trip to belleayre - great pit stop for the area! Lots of offerings and food comes out very quickly. Average diner pricing. Ended up seeking out the place the next time we went to ski, so kept us coming back. Haven’t tried their pizza so can’t speak on that.
Superior service, delicious food and cozy atmosphere. My son has an egg allergy and Nick went above and beyond. So thankful! We will be back!
Came here twice in two days. Ordered a cheese pizza to go day one, it was excellent! Sat down to dinner on day two. Highly recommend the chicken wings with raspberry habanero sauce. Cooked perfectly with a nice crisp. Sauce was a great blend of sweet and spicy. Fettuccine carbonara was delicious and rich with real slices of thick bacon as well as fresh onion and garlic. Roast beef was tender and mashed potatoes were creamy. Awesome! Rice pudding was a great end the to the meal. Prices were absolutely reasonable. Server was very attentive and polite. Best of all, the receipt didn't tell me how much to tip, nor was I charged extra for credit use. Old school diner feel that we much appreciated. I prefer dining here over downtown Tannersville.
Very laid back diner, food was really good and the waitress was super friendly! They were able to accommodate 8 of us for brunch with no problem and didn't keep checking on us unnecessarily, just the right number of times for us!
My go to on the mountaintop. Something for everyone, warm personable staff. Something for everyone. Generous portions, reasonable prices. Not gourmet, more homestyle. BEST pizza on the mountaintop. They also have a back room if you need to host a party. I personally want to give the atmosphere a 3, for me an atmosphere is candle light and jazz music. This is a diner with booths. It is a classic retro diner. Small critique, I find their tabletops a bit too high in the booths.
My daughter stopped had breakfast on way back to Long Island and left her wallet there. I called spoke to owner who was very nice and he asked the waitress who had the wallet to call us same day and she did. She took it to post office same day and sent it back to us. You could tell by speaking with both of them how nice and honest they were. It’s really nice to know that people like this still exist. We thanked her appropriately. My daughter said food was great also. If you get the chance stop in and have some good food and meet some nice people. 🍳🍔🥩🍟🙂
Yes, this is an older authentic diner on the mountain top and it shows. However, the food will amaze you. We stopped in here twice on our recent trip to Tannersville and greatly enjoyed our meals. For dinner we had their triple decker ham and cheese club sandwich and the patty melt. The club was insanely fresh and well put together. Both were excellent but the patty melt took the cake! BEST beef patty we've had anywhere in a long time. The quality of the burger meat was excellent! We highly recommend! The cole slaw and fries were delicious. Their ice tea is delightful. On our second trip we had breakfast. We got two scrambled eggs with bacon, home fries, and toast. Fantastic breakfast!! You definitely need to stop in at Selena's if your visiting or driving through Tannersville.
Had the pleasure of stopping by here during a snowboarding weekend at Hunter Mountain. The menu is very extensive so if you’re craving anything from a typical diner, they probably have it! I ordered the Roast Beef BLT triple decker and it was pretty good and very filling. I didn’t touch much of the coleslaw but I’m pretty picky with that. The pickle and the fries were good though! Pretty standard for $15! The staff here are also kind, patient, and friendly. The interior is like a typical old school diner- booths style.
The family and I decided to try Selena's based on the Google reviews, and I'm glad we did. We arrived at Selena's before the dinner crowd (for an early dinner), and we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. Our orders were taken, and the food was served very quickly. I enjoyed the Parm Panini, and my wife had the French Dip Sandwhich. Both dishes were delicious and piping hot. I have never heard of a diner that had a pizzeria menu mixed in with their diner menu, so I had to try a slice of their pizza. I come from NYC, and it was a decent slice! The overall cost of the food was pretty good. I've paid significantly more at diners on Long Island. I would definitely eat at Selena's again!
The visit to Selena’s was mainly for lunch after a group tour, based on one member’s recommendation. Since there were around 20 people in the group, seats were reserved in a private room. The staff were very helpful, and among the halal options, the Tuna Sub sandwich seemed the safest choice. There were also some vegetarian items available. Those who ordered omelets specifically requested that ham and bacon be excluded, and the person serving food reassured them that those ingredients would not be used. Speaking of the food, the Tuna Sub with fries tasted great,(added Tomatoes & lettuce) and the tomato ketchup & cos law enhanced the flavor even more. Many people also enjoyed the seafood items, especially the fried calamari, which was crispy and delicious (though it’s best to double-check whether it’s fried in beer batter). Overall, the restaurant was quite busy during lunchtime, and although it was a bit chaotic, conversations went smoothly. Since there was some leftover food, it was packed to take home. Most likely, when there’s a large group (15 or more people), a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.along with the regular tax.
Waitress was great!!!! Only two stars though because my coffee and pancakes were good but eggs had way too much cheese. Took away from the taste. Potatoes, some were soft, some were hard as a rock, and corned beef was dry. Looked and felt like card board in my mouth. Just being real with my review because there are not too many restaurants up in the mountains to enjoy. The ones there should be up to standard not lackluster.
Never order food from this place . They partner with the worst delivery people around. They make your pizza and deliver it two hours later when a driver shows up. Disgusting!!!!!!!! Pizza is like cardboard. I’m totally disgusted with this place. How they can operate like this is beyond my thought process.
Honestly, I’m really disappointed with how this place is run. From the moment we walked in, the energy was off. My group and I came in friendly and polite — “Hi! Good morning! How are you?” — and got nothing back. No smile, no welcome, just a flat “How many people?” We said “eight,” and the host looked instantly tired and unenthusiastic. It was still morning! Was it really that bad for a group of people to come in after church to enjoy breakfast together? The diner looks nice in the front, but they seated us all the way in the back, where it felt like a plain storage room — four walls, a ceiling, lots of tables and chairs, and zero charm. The front had open space, but for some reason, we were placed in the back. At first, we brushed it off. But then we noticed something that didn’t sit right — the only other groups seated in the back were non-white, like us. That made the whole situation feel even worse. The service didn’t improve. We waited around 45 minutes just to place our order. When the server came by, we said clearly, “Just water for now, we’re ready to order our food.” They didn’t even acknowledge us — just dropped off the waters and walked away. When the food finally came, it was terrible. I ordered steak and eggs (medium) and got an overcooked steak and one scrambled egg. That was it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere might be nice if you’re sitting up front — but if you’re not white, don’t expect the same treatment. Save yourself the frustration and order somewhere else.
I came here with friends and my partner last Saturday around 7 pm. The service was good as it was almost empty, but they took a few mins to take our order. The diner looked that someone of us was gonna get a stomachache. I got the Californian burger, apparently, the last one. It looked good and the fries too. Overall it was okay. However, that burger gave me the worst food poisoning. At 3 am I was in the bathroom non stop. The worst part is that I was at a campground. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
We visited Kaaterskill Falls and stopped at a diner on our way back, hoping for a cozy experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a poor choice. The food was undercooked or overcooked and below par, and waiting 40 minutes for soup, salad, a sandwich, and appetisers felt excessive. We didn't want to complain since they were about to close, but we felt it was important to warn others: avoid this place during your visit. It’s a waste of money, and you won’t find the warm atmosphere or food you need after a hike.
