My husband and I eat here often. And one of my favorite things about it is that we never have to order the same thing twice, there are so many items to choose from… pasta, steak, meatloaf, wings, lamb, gumbo just to name a few. The sides do not disappoint either and let’s not forget the dessert. It is locally owned and service is amazing. The presentation of his food is picture perfect. Highly recommend for sure!!!!
I’ve only been here a few times but I have not a single bad thing to say. I ended up stopping by on Christmas after learning they were open. I spent the holiday mostly alone and wanted some comfort food. I ordered the smothered oxtails with candied yams and the tomato/okra stew. Absolutely phenomenal. A few months earlier I also tried their Louisiana fried chicken, and it was absolutely some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. Those sweet potatoes were also to die for. The owner is always very nice and definitely takes pride in his food, as he should. I highly recommend this place and look forward to going back to try a LOT more of what they have to offer.
Best fried chicken anywhere! The amazing crispy skin conceals juicy & mouthwatering chicken (pictured). Though I'm a dark meat gal, the white meat is just as tender & juicy. We always order multiple entrees when we come to BWB, because EVERYTHING is homemade & amazing... really! I added a picture of our order, so you can see how much we get since everything is fantastic & we can't decide what we want most. Not only are the appetizers & entrees fabulous, the dessert is also to die for (pictured). Today we ordered two of the Pound Cakes - peanut butter & cream cheese. YUM! Whenever you travel to or through downtown Texarkana, be sure to make time for lunch at BWB. You will be so glad you did! Dine in & catering are also available. Photos of the amazing BWB menus are attached. Treat yourself to the best foods in East Texas; you deserve it!
Another WOW! Didn't let it's unassuming looks dissuade you... Other than the atmosphere, this could be a 5 Star restaurant. The food is prepared fresh when you order it, so it takes a little time, but O so worth it!!! The flavor is absolutely amazing and the presentation is spot on. There is so much to choose from. We had the Boudin stuffed pork chop and the Crawfish Etouffe; both were amazing!! Food was a little pricey but for the quantity and quality, well worth every penny. If you are going on a lunch hour, you might want to order ahead so it will be ready when you get there. The owner was super friendly and helpful in choosing our food. I highly recommend the food here; you won't be disappointed!
I just love love love this place. Unfortunately, I live in Colorado now, but there's family in the area; when I come around for a visit, I eat here near every night. Everything is delicious, but my personal favorite is Blackened Catfish Orleans. My family and I came in this afternoon, and I'd intended to leave a review, with photos, but I only managed a photo of the Ponay Smothered Pork Chops because I got too excited to eat and forgot to take the other photos. The chops were real good! I'm hoping to make it back for Gumbo before heading home!
A complete surprise and a fantastic gem of a Soul Food joint, found in Texarkana, TX. Everything here is cooked to order, so you will be waiting for a bit! Believe me well worth the wait! Gumbo (medium size), grilled lamb chops w/ cabbage and candied yams! Damn!
Everything was great! Our group had shrimp & grits, jerk pork chops, creole pasta, and oxtail. Would definitely stop again if we were in town!
Quaint little restaurant with outstanding food and friendly, experienced ownership. The menu is extensive and the food is really excellent. You really can't miss with any menu selection, its all made fresh while you wait and is well worth the 20 minutes or so it takes. Enjoy!
Man....The advertisement was NOT lying when they said it "tastes like Grandma's cooking." I asked about restaurants in the area that I can not get in other places and this place was a recommendation. The food was made to order which allowed it to come out hot with the presentation literally making your mouth water. I met with the owner and he and I spoke about a lot of the menu options because there were so many to choose from and I became overwhelmed because I wanted to eat majority of the menu 🤣. I ordered the oxtails with sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese and cornbread. 🤤😋 The Kool-Aid was great, he also had great dessert options, and so much to choose from with regular coming to get their weekly meal from him. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed selecting this venue to eat from. I am mad that he is not close to because I would see him often. 🫠🥲 Do yourself and your stomach a favor and go treat yourself to this restaurant....
Wonderful food! Talked with the owner for a bit, a man who you can tell loves good food and serving it. We had the étouffée and fried shrimp they were both delicious.
Yum! The reviews brought us to this lovely restaurant. Food was delicious and cooked fresh! The menu is extensive yet, culturally appealing! The owner is incredibly pleasant with warm hospitality. Please visit if you're in the area!
I’m a traveling welder. And let me tell you, If you are ever in the Texarkana area. I highly recommend this place. The service is great. The atmosphere is relaxed and just how you would expect it. I ordered their gumbo and sweet tea with an extra piece of corn bread. Let me tell you, by far the best gumbo I’ve had in a good while. Taste’s as if they brought a gumbo chef from Louisiana to make it here in Texarkana. Absolutely excellent!! I will definitely be coming back for some more gumbo and sweet tea before I leave here to the next job. Left absolutely nothing on the plate 🤌🏽👌🏽
Huge shoutout to Bluewater bayou and thank you so much for going out your way to ensure the cake that my 7 year old legit requested haha. Our first time eating here we got this cake but as a slice and it was SOOO good. All the food has been so great thus far. So my son requested this cake for his birthday and the owner made it happen. Went out his way to make it fresh on a Friday evening because we didn’t realize they were closed Saturday which was the party day. Lemme just say, it was a huge success and literally nothing was left but one slice from the event. And that slice has been eatin’ now. Super awesome job and you have greatly blessed my family and I. Had to constantly rave and brag about you and your business. From the Jones family, THANK YOU! Would give 10 stars if I could.
I saw the reviews and thought maybe this would be a good place to eat. And I wad absolutely 💯 correct! When I got there the owner was very inviting and nice. It was genuine. The food matched all of that. He first let me sample the neck bones. They were seasoned like 🔥 and tender beyond tender. I then ordered the 3-piece catfish and two 6- piece wings. The flavors I had were buffalo and creole dry rub. The buffalo had flavor but needed to be a little more spicier. This was the first time I actually creole rub wings and they tasted like they should. The catfish was seasoned and cooked absolutely great. The fries were good and the cole slaw was magnificent. They let me try samples of their punch and the Crude Oil was the best. You have to try this place I promise you will not be disappointed!!!!!
The jerk chicken delivers a bold punch of smoky spice, with a perfectly charred exterior and juicy, well-seasoned meat infused with Caribbean flavors. Meanwhile, the seafood Alfredo stuffed turkey leg is pure indulgence—tender, fall-off-the-bone turkey loaded with a rich, creamy sauce packed with shrimp and crawfish. The Alfredo’s buttery smoothness balances the turkey’s smokiness, creating a satisfying fusion of Southern and coastal flavors. Both dishes are bursting with flavor and guaranteed to impress.
This place was awesome. It was some of the best food that I’ve ever had in my life. The owner was at the front counter, very knowledgeable about every single item that was on the menu. I could’ve gotten something that I was used to, but I opted for things that I never order. I noticed that there were no salt and pepper shakers, hot sauce or anything on the tables and that’s because you didn’t need anything on the food. Everything was seasoned to perfection, down to the way they made the Kool-Aid. if you are in Texarkana and you are looking for the best place to eat, I would suggest that you go here. The food came out hot. It was fast. The music that was planned was a vibe every single thing about this place screamed go there. I would definitely recommend this place as a top restaurant to visit in Texarkana hands-down
The owner/chef was really nice. The food were amazing and very very delicious. We got Medium Gumbo, Crawfish Etouffee, and fried catfish. We especially like both Gumbo and Estouffee. We also ordered Rum Breaded Pudding and Lemon Filling Pound Cake. The pudding was warm, soft, and sweet. The Lemon Filling Pound Cake was soft, moist, and delicious. Would recommend and would return again!
THE BEST RESTAURANT I’ve ever been to in my life! Sure I’ve been to many fancy restaurants internationally including Michelin places. But this place makes REAL, FLAVORFUL food. You want flavor? You want the South in your month? Come here. Order everything. I’ve been around 10 times so far and have not repeated my order. Yet everything I’ve eaten is 10 out of 10. And I don’t mean just the entrees or meats, every sides, corn bread, dessert, is AMAZING! Come early otherwise they run out of stuff. The egg rolls will absolutely blow your mind and it’s such a creative yet down to earth creation. You won’t regret it, I will no longer gatekeep this secret. You gotta come and eat real food here. It will change your life.

Great food! I ordered the gumbo and my brother got the oxtails. Both were delicious! He said gravy on the oxtails was perfect!

They don’t have food like this in the North! Staff were super nice and stayed open late for me one day. Was so good I came back multiple times.

God bless everyone in that kitchen. The best food we’ve ever had. Wait times were worth it because food was fresh, seasoned, and koolaid was impossibly delicious!

My husband and I came on a Sunday, music playing (my kind of music) so that was a plus. Were able to get in a couple games of dominoes in before our food came. The jerk pork chops were big and juicy!!! Full of flavor! The greens were great and the 7 cheese Mac and cheese was fresh! The corn bread muffin was perfect! Pairs great with the greens! The dessert was so perfectly platted! Definitely a come again for us! We appreciate the staff for preparing us a delicious meal! A lot of love put into it.
Really good catfish, which is what we came for. They have an extensive menu of Cajun, Southern and soul food. The order was made from scratch, so be prepared for a wait. It's worth it.
I drove an hour to try this place, it was disgusting. Lambs were tough and looked as if they had been sitting in fridge for days as a matter of fact all of the food taste reheated and just was not fresh at all.. the smell from what ever seasoning being used smelled awful. The crust from the chicken was falling off.. I’m a soul food eater and I love cooking soul food but this was not it at all… the banana pudding was dark I was afraid to even try it. The koolaid was the only thing we enjoyed.. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! None of it was edible..

I love a black owned business but I can’t stand when you have something one time and its delicious and then every time you have it afterwards it goes downhill. I waited too long to get my order taken. I waited on ppl who arrived well after me to get their order taken just in order for to pay meanwhile my food was ready. All this time just to get some food that was far below satisfactory.
My neighbors told me the food was good here, I guess I'll never know. I was waiting in the drive thru for about 20 mins. He said he had to take a couple of orders which was fine, and then nothing. We would have ordered online but the website is down, this is part of the problem. It's 2025 no website functioning, dilapidated building, and poor customer service. I don't care how good the food is, these places need to get it together, if they want to survive into the future.
