Words really cannot describe how special this venue is and how much every member of the team at Pythouse put into making sure everything is absolutelty perfect. We got married here on the 22nd June 2024 and also booked the glamping site for our guests to stay in. It really was a home from home, Laura is the most attentive and caring woman I have ever met (apart from my wife). Every little detail was taken care of and it also done in a relaxed informal style that made everything feel stress free. The food, oh my god! If I died and came to Pythouse then heaven is real. Every meal is bursting with flavour, fresh and the portions are spot on. From the canapes to the wedding breakfast then the evening supper every guest said they have never been fed so well and been mind blown with each round. The venue itself is just beautiful, it is natural, welcoming and bursting with the glory of nature. If you get the opportunity to eat in their marquee then this is something not to be missed as looking out on the gardens whilst having dinner is lovely. I could go on for days but if you are thinking of having a wedding here, do it! Thank you to all the team, you made our day so special. Simon & Jenny

A truly beautiful walled garden tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside. On a summer's day there is nothing more delightful than to sit in the garden sipping whatever takes your fancy. Food is simply delicious. During our visit a military helicopter flew over, shattering the quiet for a few moments, but once it passed, the silence was enhanced. The facilities at this walled garden are constantly being improved and this is always carried out with great taste and in sympathy with the surroundings. Well worth a visit.

A lovely place for a spot of lunch. Even on a snowy dull day the place was full of light and beautifully warm from the log burners. Only had a light lunch, but it was very good, as was the wife's (I sampled hers too). Beautiful working gardens set in a beautiful countryside setting.

Absolutely love this place. Its a hidden walled off garden cafe that is very well done and maintained. Fantastic for a just a morning coffee and even better for a casual lunch or brunch. We did both and came back again because we'd liked it so much. The glamping tents look amazing....going to look into those for our next visit. Definitely try this place if you're nearby.

🤫 I can't tell you this it's a secret so you don't go and I can have the place to myself.... The food was absolutely amazingly flavorful 😲 The Nibbles were so tasty (starter) Garden Gatherings and from the fire absolutely delicious (main) and the pudding gorgeous.A few photographs and the items ticked was my choice today. They even make there own Gin

Amazing find, thanks to Giles Corren review in The Times. The food was from a limited fixed price menu but perfect for lunch. All either grown in the garden or locally sourced, delicious. We were even encouraged to walk around the beautiful garden between courses.

A wonderful experience having lunch here - I can’t recommend highly enough. The place is absolutely beautiful with its natural, horticultural themed decoration. The dining room is in a south-facing conservatory overlooking a walled garden in the foreground - from which many of the ingredients are picked - and the west Wiltshire downs beyond. The food was exceptional. It’s a 3-course seasonal menu; we were there at the end of Autumn. For mains, a range of vegetable dishes are served with a choice of something ‘from the fire’ - we had Chalkstream trout with Jerusalem artichoke hearts & sprouting broccoli, and haunch of venison with malt-glazed squash & pickled blackberry. Both were outstanding: the trout as a complete dish, and the venison alone mouth-watering. The courgette was my favourite side, closely followed by roast pink fir potatoes with smoked cream and venison heart bottarga. Burnt pumpkin cheesecake a nice way to finish. At £30 pp I think this is incredible value for money. A friendly, professional service team completed the experience.

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life. The food was delicious. Generous but not overwhelming. I would reccomend a particular dish but they were all brilliant. The service was kind, calm and considered. They were lovely with our little baby. The setting is absolutely beautiful, helped by a stunning winter day. We didn’t want to leave.

We went to Pythouse while visiting the area and it did not disappoint! Such a beautiful setting with amazing food and friendly staff. It’s made even more special by the seasonality and local nature of the food. We had a walk around the gardens after our roast, it was beautifully presented and it was great to see where some of the food we’d just eaten had come from. Highly recommend

I cannot begin to express the amazing most perfect wedding I have had here. When I say everyone I mean everyone will not stop complimenting how incredible the venue and the food was. Myself and my now husband had the most incredible weekend. The staff made everything run so smoothly, all our guests were looked after and not once did we have to worry about anything. The amazing Laura had everything in hand and set up all the little details we had asked for perfectly. No request was too big she just made it happen. The food here was to die for a gain “the best canapés we have ever had at a wedding” was the response I was getting from all the guests. Perfect wedding perfect place and so happy that we can come back here to celebrate our anniversary’s with a beautiful meal and relive a little bit of our wedding day 🥂

I honestly don’t know how to put this little slice of heaven into words that truly do it justice. Hidden in the Wiltshire countryside, this place offers an experience that goes far beyond just great food. Every dish was fresh, seasonal and clearly crafted with real thought and care. The non-alcoholic drinks were just as impressive, full of flavour and clearly made with the same attention as everything else. The setting is stunning. Calm, scenic and full of charm. After our meal, we wandered through the gardens where they grow much of their produce, which just topped it all off. It’s rare that I’m lost for words, but this place genuinely took my breath away. If you’re even remotely nearby, you have to go.

Fantastic food and service. Really nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and different to the norm but so good to try. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Following a recommendation from a friend, we booked for brunch and were absolutely delighted with the whole experience. The setting within the garden is lovely with a light, bright feel. Service was warm and felt personal. Most importantly, the food was superb with both the Garden Grill breakfast and the Sausage, Bacon, egg and cheese croissant highly recommended - not surprisingly, the taste was fresh and well seasoned as well as being perfectly cooked. Although the brunch session is timed, we didn’t feel rushed at all and it proved to be an excellent experience. We shall definitely be back, perhaps to sample the lunch menu and to browse some more of the interesting produce on offer.

My partner and I were travelling to Glastonbury and wanted somewhere to stop for lunch and in our research we came across Pythouse Kitchen Garden and what a find it was!! The location and venue is exceptional - even on a grey, rainy day it was the perfect place to be for a fantastic meal. The staff were incredible, attentive and most importantly nailed the timing between courses. They provided the perfect amount of interaction and personal touch whilst also allowing you to enjoy your meal. It truly feels like a family run venue which is special. The food matches all the other 5* aspects of this restaurant. The story behind the restaurant, how the food is sourced is amazing and they bring that quality through to what is on the plate. I have already recommended it to friends and will continue to do so and we will certainly be back. Thanks so much for a great experience!

Very nice countryside restaurant with a beautiful garden where they grow their produce. Menu was amazing and every dish is made using local ingredients. Lunch atmosphere is very relaxed and the waiters always chat with you and explain you the philosophy of the ingredients. Definitely will try the Sunday roast next time.

Fantastic space - we did the foraging experience, had lunch in the restaurant and stayed in the shepherd's hut in the garden. A wonderful, authentic and enjoyable experience all round for a restaurant thoroughly deserving of the accolades it is collecting. Would recommend in a heartbeat for anyone looking for a well-executed, sustainably resourced meal in a lovely garden setting.

Having worked here to capture a wedding and having eaten here also, I can confirm that it really is a lovely place. Whether you're hosting your celebrations or just heading out for some amazing food - PKG get it right every time. Their ethos and their attitude radiates positivity and quality, while the atmosphere within the restaurant (or outside on a sunny day) is so welcoming. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I look forward to returning!! Darren Lovell Photo & Film

Fantastic meal and service. The food was excellent - very interesting mix of flavours, but not pretentious or overpriced whatsoever. And our waiter (whose name I didn’t happen to catch) was very friendly and helpful. Lovely ambience and vibe, too. Will definitely be back.

This is a must visit if you're in the area. South Africa is the only other place I've seen a set out like this. A wonderful restaurant, set in the gardens that provide your food. The ability to sit outdoors and eat great quality food is fantastic. We had a lovely afternoon eating and wandering around the extensive kitchen garden. I imagine the events are beautiful, too. Staff were friendly and happy to spend time talking. I would love this to be local to me!

We are just on the way back from Pythouse kitchen and what an experience this was! Food is outstanding, fresh, innovative yet familiar flavours cooked to perfection. My chicken dish was a masterclass in chicken cookery. Fino cocktail was amazing ! Great, cosy atmosphere of old farm house. Service was superb, lady who served us was fabulous, attentive and friendly. Overall fantastic experience and for the price they are charging it was an absolute feast!

Pythouse Kitchen Gardens was an absolutely perfect venue for our wedding reception! Laura went above and beyond to help coordinate the various food, band, and cake throughout the evening, and the canapés were delicious (arancini, yum!) Given that my (now) wife and I were looking for a formal setting, with the feeling of a more personal and relaxed garden party, PKG was more than we could have asked for. Thank you so much, Laura and team ❤️

What a wonderful experience it is to eat here. Stunningly beautiful setting. Staff attentive and the food - just wow. The combination of flavours work so well together from the starters right through to desserts. Good value set price menu as well, considering the amount of food you get. Thank you Pythouse staff. Am sure to return.

My fiancé and I had a really lovely experience yesterday at PKG. We were warmly welcomed and the serving staff were all so lovely and pleasant. Our waitress in particular was genuinely happy to help us. The food was equally as impressive, we were blown away by the autumnal menu. Struggled to choose off the menu because it all sounded so delicious- and it was! Would highly recommend and will back very soon. Thank you!

Wonderful venue. Very good food. Very well presented with pretty garnishes. Worth the money for three courses. In fact the only down side would be if you couldn't manage three courses, as it's a set price. We felt satisfied but not uncomfortably full. Can't wait to go back with more friends and family :-)

Excellent Ingredients Served with Passion Its not ‘gastro’ or ‘bistro’ or any other kind of ‘o’, but if you are looking for food quality on the plate, friendly service, and a reasonably priced and thoughtful wine list, look no further. For lunch, a single starter of Rye Crisp Breads, Flamingo Pea whip, and garden XO sauce, suggests the kitchen can stretch a long way beyond Sunday roast (we went on a Sunday). The seasonal vegetables were cooked to perfection, our beef a tad tough (supplier issue I think), good yorks pud, and serious deserts. Thank you team x

Just the most magical food: rare to find somewhere that has a flavour signature so distinctive, where every dish works I’m harmony and such unusual flavours suddenly seem like old friends. And in such a gorgeous spot too - and for this quality of food it’s REALLY cheap. Unreserved recommend.

10/10 all round - we met Darren at a pop up event and fell in love with the food, so we ventured over to Pythouse for the real deal and it absolutely was that! Unbelievable food, such friendly waitresses, dog friendly and set in beautiful gardens. Food done the proper way! Highly recommended. Thanks again guys!

Just fantastic and brilliant value! I managed to squeeze in for a quick coffee and snack before full service started on Sunday. Found by accident and proven an unforgettable experience. Delicious! I’ll be back!

Second time here and the food was again excellent. The quality for the price is bang on. The food is so seasonable so the menu I far from what’s online as a sample. We loved the sharing pea dip, totally yum. My venison was perfectly pink, best carrots I’ve eaten ever and that sticky toddy pudding 😍 definitely recommended and in such a stunning setting too

Everything about this place is unique. We’ve had a few meals here over the years and I think I found it in the ‘extra mile guide’ initially. The events are fantastic and the food is always top notch. Vegetarian options and plant based dining is a must if that’s what you’re after! Parking is a little tight sometimes but that just shows how loved it is. Great ambience and location and even the drive down from the A303 is enjoyable 😁

We sat on the terrace on a sunny day and it was beautiful. The food is fresh and unbelievably tasty. They’ve thought about the small details and the decor is lovely. My favourite touch is the monthly Tales from the Kitchen Garden on the back of the menu which is so well written 👌🏼will be coming back again and again.

A beautiful and idilyic place, with real charm and a fantastic season based menu. The staff were super friendly and the food was really special. I would heartily recommend this to anyone.

This place is a revelation for your tastebuds. Every mouthful a joy, remember when beef tasted like beef? …that! Real food sourced locally, without being processed, messed about with, just imaginatively presented with knowledge and care. Go check it out!

Such a nicer way to do a Sunday roast - having beef and chicken that’s been reared sustainability and brought to the table on large sharing plates. Vegetables and herbs all sourced from the kitchen garden you’re dining in, under a big sail shade. Portions aren’t huge (in a good way), meaning you don’t need a three hour lie down like so many British roasts these days. Staff are all very nice and attentive, and welcome dogs and children with open arms. Plenty of parking. Allow time before or after to wander the garden

Absolutely divine, what a wonderful and magical experience. From the Victorian walled garden to the shepherds hut, this place has everything and I've not mentioned the seasonal michelin star quality food that they make, wowowow! Their Sprigster shrub cocktail drink is perfect for me as a non-drinker, so delicious! I am in love with the whole concept, decor, food - everything and can't wait to go back.

You will need to book ahead to get a table but it is very worth it. Set out of the way in the middle of the countryside the Pythouse Kitchen Garden is an amazing place to treat a loved one or enjoy a luxury family meal. There is good attention to detail in all of the surroundings from the bar and shop, even to the well kept bathroom facilities. We came on a very sunny day so the garden and outdoor seating areas looked beautiful. The food is amazing. Serving a simple menu ranging from Garden box salads to Firepit based mains there is still enough choice to trip up the indecisive. The salmon was the best I'd ever had and the salads were fantastic with the ingredients grown in their own garden. The staff were really friendly and always happy to help. The Pythouse Kitchen Garden will be one of the remembered as one of the highlights of our break in Shaftesbury.

I was dubious of having a 'set menu' with limited choice but wow the food was incredible. Melt in your mouth beef with well thought out side of vegetables to accompany it. The setting of the restaurant is beautiful and the open fire place added to the cosy feeling. The staff were helpful and friendly and never did you feel rushed to finish.

I have been here a couple of times for lunch and many more for coffee… it’s quite pricy but the ambiance, service and quality of food and drinks is second to none. It’s always a good day when I can have a coffee at PKG! :))

I can’t recommend PKG enough, we had the most perfect wedding here, all of the staff are incredible and they worked tirelessly to make our day the best! The food is incredible and the drinks are delicious! The venue itself is absolutely perfect, the gardens are beautiful and so well maintained. We used the glamping pods which were so spacious and pretty! It makes the dream wedding venue!

A brilliant place to go for lunch The dishes although pricey are excellent with a great variety of flavours and combinations to enjoy on the menu. Especially impressive is the variety of unique drinks they have on their menu with some truly delicious combinations They great indoor conservatory seating, with a fantastic relaxing atmosphere and feel and if the weather is nice a beautiful seating area outside in which you can explore the garden which they use for inspiration and use for ingredients for their kitchen and bar drinks I had a great time with my family whilst here. I would certainly visit again

Follow-up to below. After writing review I was contacted by owner who was very apologetic and explained improvement plan to provide more facilities - its a great venue, I hope they manage to add some loos soon.. Fantastic in all respects but one - only 3 toilets for everyone to share. There was a constant line of people waiting. Three shared toilets is simply not enough. One star hoping to grab the attention of the owners.

I mean the place is beautiful and the gardens are unique, but so much to give in other areas. Nice day so why don't ask you customers if they want to seat down in the beautiful outside area. Seamed quiet lunch with about 4 tables in over all. The owner very nice oldie man, took his time to have a quick chat and have a little joke with our daughter, but you can tell he does not get involved in service. The manager not paying much attention to service And the young waitress very attentive and trying, but sadly made a mistake that costs us our lunch. Ordered lunch and we asked for our daughter food to come out asap as we ordered burgers and it will take longer than a piece of quiche, we do this as our two year old does not eat her food if it's something else in the table. sadly food came out together and it messed it up a bit. we finished and got a while to be cleared as the young waitress was busy with few tables together, until the manager came out to clear the table, few minutes later brought pudding menu, but took ages for him to come back nearly 10 minutes we won't be rushing back to be honest. to top it up I am not a maxive fan of 12.5% gratuity included on the bill. £74.50 for 3 soft drinks, 3 mains (nothing to special) and 1 pudding ( cheese cake 😂, see the picture). mmm bit to much. hope all this can be improved, will be back one day.

Hugely disappointed that they forgot it was my mum’s birthday. I called a week in advance to ask if they could put a candle on my mum’s dessert (or something similar). I was told they would and also pick a little bunch of flowers from the garden - lovely! But when we were there, nothing. My mum had a badge and balloon so it was pretty obvious it was her birthday but nothing. Not even an acknowledgment of her birthday.
