Great place with delicious coffee and good flan. The friendly lady also sold us the bus ticket from Colonia Yucatan to Chiquila. Everything is clean and beautifully renovated. Great place!
It's an oasis on the way between Cuyo and Tizimín, with good service, good food, and very nice facilities.
A very hospitable owner made the difference in this village in Mexico. She sat with us, shared stories, treated us to an amazing handmade ice cream. Humanity and hospitality always win!
I love all the ice cream flavors. The milkshakes with fries are my favorite. You can also get delicious coffees. If you're traveling, it's a highly recommended stop to rest and enjoy all the delicious things you find in the fridge. They also have souvenirs you can take home, like super cute hats, t-shirts, and mugs to give as gifts to family or treat yourself to something that reminds you of your trip. 😎🌞💚
Highly recommended! The ice cream flavors are delicious, plus they're handmade with family love. If you happen to be in Cuyo, this stop is a must-see for a refreshing drink with delicious ice cream, snacks, or traditional dishes. If you have more time, a great weekend getaway is available: bowling!
Excellent place, friendly service, delicious ice cream, they still use the original recipe 👌🏻
It's a very nice and pleasant place. The owners were very attentive, and the prices are somewhat affordable. We enjoyed playing a round of bowling. They explained the process in detail. I definitely recommend it. It's one of the few places where you can enjoy yourself and get something to eat on the way to or from Cuyo.
SP: A gem with unique flavor and identity. I congratulate those in charge for reviving this family-owned and historic gem. I recommend spending hours at the bowling alley, enjoying ice cream and drinks while listening to stories about Colonia Yucatán. An authentic and special experience. Great little retro cafe/restaurant with the best coffee & breakfast I’ve had in Mexico. The barista has been trained by the best and makes authentic espresso variations. The huevos motuleños had freshly toasted tortillas with the perfect balance of sweet and savory toppings (beans, eggs, fried plantain, peas and a delicious tangy salsa to boot). The cafe is in the process of building its very own bowling alley next door which looks like it’ll be a massive hit. Highly recommend stopping here if you havn’t already. 5/5.
This place is historic! Every time I pass by, I imagine the Ice Cream Parlor when Colonia was in its glory years. I'm so excited they've reopened; the place looks so beautiful 💖. We stopped by on our way back from Cuyo and tried the cappuccino, the Nutella cookie, and the s'mores—all delicious.
Difficult to describe based solely on its food, as it's so much more than that. Drinks of all kinds, for any time of day, or cookies, brownies, pies, or flan. A wide variety of coffees or their colorful and delicious milkshakes. All kinds of dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or supper. The long soda fountain bar and its stools, just like in the 1960s. The friendly service, accompanied by a good conversation about the history of the place. The best part is the atmosphere, both historic and magical, since in addition to the ice cream shop, its side room housed the bowling alley and pool tables. It was a social and family gathering place during the heyday of the lumber industry, from assembly to shipping to the rest of the Yucatán Peninsula through the Port of El Cuyo. Since Colonia Yucatán housed not only the lumber processing area but also the company's administrative offices, this ice cream parlor became a popular meeting place outside of work. As if that weren't enough, the north wall of the parlor displays a splendid collection of photographs capturing not only the joys of bowling and billiards but also the daily lives of Colonia Yucatán's residents during the timber boom. Any words can fail to describe the delight of admiring this invaluable collection of photographs, which transports us on a journey through time. Therefore, enjoying a meal or a drink at this ice cream parlor is like stepping back in time, reminding us of who we are and who we once were.
Wow
Great place to stop on the way to El Cuyo! We ordered 3 different breakfast items, and all were excellent (the coffee in particular was quite wonderful). Also of note: good ice cream (try the Elote/corn flavor), excellent not too thick milkshakes (malteados), and the home made (by a relative) cookies are amazing - we loved the peanut butter shortbread.
Honestly, the frappes they make are more like shaved ice with very coarse ice grains. All the flavors taste like coffee, and my kids didn't like them. I'm only giving the service one star because I ordered two pizzas, they only gave me one, and they prepared it however they wanted. For entertainment, they have bowling, foosball, and a video game arcade, which were the only fun things about the place.
