I have no idea why people are giving this restaurant such bad press. My family and I dined there this evening for the first time and had the time of our lives. Good Food, Good Service and Manual was Great! The prices are the same as Benihana, but you do get more food. Tip of Day: Pay extra for the Filet Mignon!

The food was fantastic! The group we shared the table with even bought some bottles of their salad dressing. The fried rice is amazingly smothered in garlic butter, as was the delicious lobster tail! Highly recommend.

This review is long over due, we are new to the Tracy area and didn't feel like driving over the hill for hibachi, we came across Musashi and havent looked back, I honestly prefer it over any main chain hibachi restaurant so much so we are now faithful patrons where they know us by name. 1: The food is soo good 2: The prices are fair especially for the amount of food you get 3: The staff is AMAZING 4: You can order to go 5: Last but not least the drinks are strong and good!! If you're looking for great hibachi, stop reading, call make and make a reservation because they get packed.

Great food, great atmosphere, alot of fun. Have been going here for years. Garlic fried rice is the hest in the business! Only complaint is they need to install/replace the AC! Hot as heck when they're cooking at the table in front of you!

Food is really good but the place is falling apart. Really needs to renovate or relocate. Seems like the food is changing, not necessarily bad, but different just about every time we go. We're long-term customers, over about 20 years, so I'd hate to see the restaurant close.

Great food and service but a little pricey. I wish they would play more authentic Japanese music. Instead of American holiday music. Over all me and the family enjoyed are selfs.

Update- Manuel bought the place and it’s like an overnight change! Amazing food and place to go now! If it weren't for Manuel this place would be out of business. He is an amazing cook, that can do some good things with sub par steak and chicken. One star for the restaurant and 1 star for Manuel. I would give him 5 if I could review him separately. The seafood here is so old that you can smell it coming out of the kitchen. The place needs to be redecorated (or condemned), and get all of the grease and stains out of the carpet and off the walls. The fish tanks haven't been cleaned in I can't imagine how long. I'm not sure how this place passes a health inspection. There is a new place in Manteca that is sooo much better, but there isn't a Manuel there so I guess I will brave going in here every once in a while. Update- Manuel bought three place and it's amazing how much better it is almost immediately!!

We come here to celebrate many special occasions. The table chefs are excellent and it's a an entire show watching your food being prepared on the grill tableside. Always get the fried rice and ask for extra garlic butter if you love garlic. It's Scrumptious! The drinks are always good, too. I especially like the Musashi Punch.

Stick with the teppanyaki, the sushi is ok. We came in a huge group, the service was generally good, the chefs were genuinely kind and speedy! Only thing that really bothered me was when the table next to us left. This lady came out and started heavily spraying both tables 3feet away from us with cleaning chemicals. If it isn’t common sense - let me explain- we are shoulder to shoulder with people, this place has hot tables on 24/7 with no windows- meaning little ventilation- our kids at table level- you shouldn’t be spraying chemicals next to food and people. Your solution ? Spray your towels in the back. You could taste how “clean” it was after all the spraying.

Just to be fair, I/we didn't have any sushi, we sat by the tepanyaki grill, where the chef prepare the food in front of you. It's ok if you've never done this type before. We ordered their special, which was $28 for two people, having a choice of steak, chicken, shrimp or calamari steak. We ordered the steak and the calamari steak. It came with sauteed veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, and onions) & a bowl of onion soup. We also upgraded the steam rice to the fried rice (which I thought were overpriced, extra $4.50 each???) The food was just ok. The staff were very nice and friendly though.

The restaurant was somewhat clean, the staff was friendly but barely spoke clear clean English. It's mid January and they still had Christmas decorations out. The food was okay but the prices were outrageous! We will not return to this place

All I can say is that you can't compare it to Benihana's from Cupertino. This was okay... for being in Tracy. We came to visit family and wanted to try something different and we gave this place a shot. The place is dark and felt run down, the shopping plaza is dead. We had a reservation and were the first customers for dinner. Got seated got out drinks and we waited...and waited.... Finally, it was show time. Our cook was ok tried to entertain but wasn't good at all. But it's ok, it's about the food... We all ordered pretty much the same to be safe I guess and ordered chicken, shrimp and fried rice. The rice was good not salty a plus for me, the rest was meh lacked flavor. Would I come back? No, at this time, and I did hear it's under new ownership so maybe it needs feedback and time. We'll see what the locals have to say in the future. 3 stars for trying.

I had a reservation for a Sunday @ 6pm. It was completely dead in that place, but what could you expect for Sunday early evening. Only one other family was there. My party was seated promptly. Let's get straight to it. Food - A+. Drinks: F The chef was a great chap. Engaging, cooked the food excellent. He wasn't doing any wild benihana acrobats with his tools, but a little. Fun to see. The kids at the next table over seemed to enjoy it. Anyhow, great cook. Food was delicious. Large portions too. The drink menu. Save your money and just get a water/soda. The drink menu is something from the 80's. The waitress was/is the bartender. I double she knows many drinks and possibly just follows some guide behind the counter to make the menu drinks only. For example - I asked for a gin & tonic. My drink was 99% tonic. Let's try a simple vodka martini. It was 90% vermouth and the olives looked like they died last year. Poor drink had no chance. Waste of money. Save your money & have a drink at home. My bill (w/tip) was almost $150 (4 drinks). Those drinks were totally not worth the money spent. This is a nice restaurant. I imagine it's really hopping on Friday/Saturday night. They have karaoke. I understand it's been under new management. Great. Kick it up a notice with a new drink menu. You'll attract more families (mom/dad who enjoy a nice cocktail) and 40+ crowd that know their drinks. Your current drink menu belongs in the cocktail graveyard of the 80's and 90's.

Ordered fried rice and soup to go. Get home all ready to eat and the rice wasn’t done all the way, it was chewy so I call and they say bring it back and they will give me new rice. Did that and get home same thing. It was a little better but still chewy. 😩 The girl asked if I wanted to try first but I was like no it is what it is at this point. Haha Then the rice didn’t have anything in it except a couple tiny pieces of chicken egg and carrot, very plain. I used to love this place but old owners got to expensive for bad service, then tried it again about a year after the new owners bought it and it was pretty good then. Maybe it’s better to eat there than take out?

Came here with the family and srvice on front desk was lacking. The lady in front wasn't welcoming. The whole place is very run down. It's like Benihana on a C rating scale. The chief and owner was nice but the food was ok. It's run by a Hispanic family. For our meal, two adults and two small children, I think $120 was overpriced. We only order two sets, too. I didn't expect great food, but the lack of hygiene at this place makes it hard to enjoy the food. My seat was all taped up, just to give you an idea how rundown it is. We were the only other family besides another. It's a one and done for us, unfortunately.

The food was fine and the cook did a good job I do not recommend this place due to its lack of hygiene. It smelled of old grease and you could see it in the vents above the cooking table as well as in the corners of tables. Their restroom had no soap to wash hands and toilet seat was discolored with urine. The health department needs to make a visit.

Today I took my family here for my daughter's 14 birthday; her choice of any restaurant in town. She wanted to watch the entertainment of her dinner being cooked on the grill. We made reservations and showed up on time. The Hostess, an older lady, grumpily greeted us and told us to wait as she walked into the dining area. She came back and moments later and said, "Follow Me!" We were seated at one of the grills directly adjacent to another already occupied grill. We ordered our dinners and waited for the show to begin. Once the chef came out with his cart he began talking to the adjacent table, confirming their orders and making small talk...........Then the chef turned around to our table and confirmed our orders and explained he was going to be our chef at the same time as the other table because the restaurant was short handed. The chef proceeded to cook the rice on the other table interacting with those patrons and basically ignoring us. I was thinking, okay maybe he was going to cook our rice on the grill at our table next; but this was not the case he served us rice from the other grill. Next he started cooking the vegetables on our grill then turned and cooked the chicken and shrimp on the opposite table. Basically we spent 70% of the time staring at the chef's back with barely any interaction from him. To top it off he completely forgot my daughter's steak, (the birthday girl) until another disgruntled couple at our table asked him about the steak. He did get another steak and cook it to my daughters preference but by this time most of the family had almost finished their meal. I would not recommend anyone go to this restaurant. The food has always been just okay which could be overlooked for the entertainment value........but now you can't even count on have anyone actually cook at your table. Spend your hard earned money and any other worthy restaurant in town. Trust me this place is not worth it.

The biggest rip off restaurant I have had the displeasure of eating at In a very long time! The steak was a horrible fatty cut of what I assume was bottom round, refrozen and pawned off as a “steak”. The chicken was poorly trimmed and very small in portion. Basically, everything you get is poor quality, very small portions, and seasoned with the same 2 seasonings. The poor chef was trying to make the best of the poor quality meat by attentively cooking it to your preferred wellness (the beef), but even the conversation couldn’t cover up the fact the meal was horrible. This carries over to the vegetable portion of the meal, which for two consisted of 4 round slices of white onion, a hand full of browning mushrooms, and 4 thin slices of zucchini! All of this barely covered the plate! Thankfully after almost choking on the $107 bill for two appetizers, two beers and two dinners, In & Out was close by to fill the gap to get full! Fortunately, the burgers actually made up for the tasteless overprice “dinner”. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY or Appetite here.

Company Christmas Party wish we would have chosen a different location. Service awful, out of 11 orders 1 was taken correctly. One main ingredient in my order was forgotten they cooked in back and brought to go. Waitress did not know menu or whether they even had dessert or not. Chef was by far not anything spectacular. No tricks as expected. Had to clear most of our salad and soup bowls to an empty table. You would have thought the place was packed and had a line out the door as bad as the service was.

I used to think this place was a great steakhouse until I knew what really went on behind their closed doors. A family member of mine worked there as a waitress in 2011. The workers are treated like slaves and aren't allowed any breaks. They have underaged girls serving alchohol. This place is very unsanitary. The owners make the servers put all the leftover fried rice that the customers dont finish in one big pot in the back. When someone calls to order fried rice to go they give them the leftover fried rice. I was in total disgust when I found that out. I am surprised they are still in business. Hopefully someone will report them to the health department so they can get someone to do a thorough inspection on this place and shut it down completely.

We called early and made reservations for a party of 7, yet we still had to wait a while before being seated, after being seated we were asked for what we would like to drink, then had to wait 15 mins for our drinks. Not only we're our drinks very late but our food was also as was our chef.

J
John-Paul Miller

This restaurant was poorly run. We waited for approx 30 mins for the table to fill up before the chef arrived (he explained it was due to the fact that he has to do the prep work for each table, before he arrives...soooooo, no one preps before the restaurant opens....totally slack). The waitress continuously forgot people's beverages and had them waiting and flagging her down, every time we wanted to order another round. THERE WERE ONLY 4 TABLES SEATED. The chef even had to tell her to come take our drink order, at one point. NOTE:SUSHI/HIBACHI GRILL WAS OUT OF SAKI. We spotted our waitress sitting around chatting, while people at our table sat w nothing to drink. Unacceptable. The up charge for switching from white to fried rice was $4.50/person, which I thought was a ltitle ridiculous. All they do is add some frozen veggies and soy sauce. Our server Damian, was the best part, but the food was just okay. My portion of the tab was $55 for an entre, splitting an app and 2 cocktails. My pina colada came out blue...enough said. To top it all off, the waitrest came back, after we paid and asked me if the change I left was for the tip. I said it was, and she explained to me that the tip was to be split between her and the chef. As if, she expected more of a tip. I explained to her that I tipped the chef seperately. I didn't go into the fact that the reason I tipped her 15%, instead of 20% was because the service was lowsy. At that point, the level of unprofessionality made me want to just get the hell out of there and never return. Do not waste your time at this place!

J
JaszmAnian Deville

This restaurant’s window says they close at 930pm and my husband and I pull up at 8:12 pm on Sunday evening and it was closed. They need to fix the time on google and on their restaurant! They couldn’t have saved me a trip! I wasted my time and gas coming here. But I should have figured when no one would answer the phone at 7pm.

Owner tries to scam you out of your money. Waitress accidentally brought us potstickers and she made sure to charge us all for it. She tries to squeeze all the money she can from you. Will never come back.

J

No wonder this place isn't doing so well, they keep CLOSING EARLY. Not a wise choice if they want to make money. It's Saturday night and they're supposed to close at 9:30, but I just called and the owner says they close at 7:00 PM. Really?! CLOSED AT SEVEN?! I'll go to Mikasa! Last time I went they rushed my order and sounded like they wanted to go home. Whoever owns this place needs to stop closing early or close the doors for good. Not worth it honestly. And if you do get there an hour before closing, they rush you so you can't enjoy your drinks or anything. "Hurry up and buy! You buy and leave!" For reals dawg.

Horrible place to eat they jacked the prices up. Are waitress almost knocked are baby off the highchair. She was rude 😡 and u left her a zero tip. We waited 15 minutes for boxes. Are food had no flavor. It isn't what it use to be anymore. I will never be back!

Disaster. Server didn't know the menu. They only had one tepanyaki chef, so we had to wait until he was done with the other table After 25 minutes, we left ☹️😢. Chef never came, left hungry. Side note: restaurant needs a serious cleaning and update. Also, the tepanyaki chef had his weed joint tucked behind his ear..not judging, just tacky, dude.

Horrible customer service, my table of 5 came into the restaurant on a Friday at 8:50pm, the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. I was told by the hostess that I could only get a ToGo order or sit at a regular table and not the flat stove section with the chef because they said the last table they sit in that section was at 8:45pm So my son could not celebrate his birthday because they refused to seat us due to being 5 minutes past their cut off time. That’s absolutely horrible customer service. We will not be returning.

This was the dirtiest Japanese restaurant I’ve ever experienced. Our family left early and we paid for just the soup and salad. The old grease everywhere and lack of cleanliness & dirty smell was too much for me to handle. We were the only people there at 5:30 on a Saturday evening. Eat at your own risk. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like

If I could put 0 stars I would. We were a party of 3 and no one else in place. I asked if we could sit in the middle of the table which was like pulling teeth. They agreed but I was told I would have to move if more people entered the restaurant in a rude manner. Horrible service. Would not recommend this place to anyone. We drove to Livermore and had a great meal.

Experience would have been ok but make sure to check your receipt. Went with family (7 people total) and the gratuity that they included was 33%! It seems like this was personally inputted. Bill was $519 with gratuity ($129 was gratuity). Food was subpar and super greasy. Waitress was nice though.
