Me and the wife have been here before. We always love the place and the food. Since they menu changes it's rare to eat the same entree twice. This time around me and the wife think that we ate the best meal we ever have had. Highly recommend, unfortunately we ate all the food before I could think of taking a picture.
The cocktails and dinner menu are cutting edge!
A very nice restaurant, but generally I don't enjoy their dinner menus. It's a bit too modern for my tastes with unusual and trendy dishes that seem to prioritize unusual ingredients over tasty dishes. That said, if you like that thing, they definitely do it well. I like stopping in for a burger or veggie burger at lunch, but their extended menu just isn't for me. The restaurant is run very well, staff is extremely professional, and the atmosphere is great.
i absolutely love nighthawks and visit any time i'm in town from nyc. incredible food - the burgers are some of my favorite ever and i love the ever changing farm to table menu. absolutely delicious and fresh every time, and always paired with a gorgeous cocktail (or mocktail!). my only minor complaint when visiting is at times the kitchen staff can be pretty loud, with so much yelling over each other that if you sit near the kitchen it can be hard to hear your companions / concentrate - which can be disappointing as the environment itself is overall so delightful.
My boyfriend and I went to Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon for brunch. This was our first visit to Nighthawks. This restaurant is a quaint little corner place in downtown Troy with exceptional food and drinks. There are several small tables and bar seating, and during the midafternoon on a slushy Saturday, we had no trouble getting a table. I had a delicious cocktail called Bedtime something...I'm sorry I need to get better about taking pics of the menus! Anyway, it was a vodka based drink with lavender and berries and it was spectacular, my boyfriend had a pilsner. We were impressed by the fun bar and the wide variety of alcohols available. For brunch I had a mushroom omelette and he had a cheeseburger. Both meals came with a generous side salad and were absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend visiting this local eatery! They even take good care of their kitchen staff (see pic below!) :). As the mother of someone who supervises a kitchen crew in a restaurant in Colorado, I got a real kick out of seeing this! :)
This place feels fun and looks cool. Wait staff add to the good times. Food is high quality with some unique features including: fancy fish from a tin and chicken liver skewers. Not your thing? Get a burger which is absolutely something you might write home about. The drinks from the menu were well balanced and tantalizing.
Cool place in a historic building. The burgers and fries are so delicious and the staff was really nice. Great food for a good price. Worth the stop. Best Veggie burger we’ve ever tasted.
We love this spot but hadn't been in a while. We met some friends there this past Saturday. Cocktails were great - imaginative and delicious. We shared two apps - mussels and potatoes (recommended by our server). The potatoes were delicious and the mussels were super tender and served in a unique way. Two of us had the scallop entree, one had the pasta, and one was hankering for a burger. All were fantastic - I had the scallops and I think they were the best scallops I've ever had. Hope to get back soon!
I tell everyone the same thing when they say Troy doesn’t have good food. “Have you been to nighthawks?” If they say no I inform them their statement has no accuracy. This place expands your pallet for you. Brunch is insanity. I don’t eat beef and this place still works just fine for me! That o.j. Was super fresh too.
Very comfortable place, good low playing music, menu with lots of variety. Looked like a interesting cocktail menu...I just had cold wine. Fries are done perfectly (for me at least) - well done without asking.
Food was delicious. We got a very sweet server. It's a tight fit inside. Should probably make reservations if you're going on a busy night. Even Sunday at 7pm 4 tables were reserved. We ended up sitting at the bar. Ordered the vegan burger, fries and vegetable of the day. A large fry could probably feed 4 or more. Cocktails these days are super expensive but they were very good. Would definitely recommend.
I loved the place! It was my first time there. I went with a coworker that already knew about the place. We both ordered burgers and they were amazing! Delicious! And the service was phenomenal. Kelly is so nice and friendly. I am definitely coming back!
1/2 off bottles of wine on Wednesdays is the best. I get myself a vegan burger, fries and the house red every time, such a great combo. It's also across from the boardgame Cafe, so it's a great way to end a day of playing games with friends.
Food, even on the "burger" menu, was delicious, varied, and accommodating to a restricted diet (lactose free). Burger, veggie app, and the soup my friend got-amazing. Cocktails: - Feral love was amazing, crushed ice shake, to chill, rhubarb spice with a sweet currant balance. Fun fresh baby sage garnish. Ginny and refreshing. - The tequila cocktail my friend had was brisk and beautifully refreshing with a spicy rim to liven. Our server, Cat, was thoughtful, genuine, and fun! Ambiance went hand in hand with the great service, just an overall great environment with 80s classics playing and awesome artwork lining the walls. Will definitely go back!
1st visit and it was lunch. Loved the place immediately. Very upbeat Bartender, friendly Chef, lovely bourbon selection (impressed by Rip) & tasty burger. Loved the cozy smaller front area walking in and appreciate bar seating. Will definitely go back.
Amazing food, donut infused drink is incredible also! Best burger !!
The server said they had the best burgers on the area, and she was right! The fries were hot and crispy. I like mine with ketchup and hot sauce and they brought 2 really great flavors. Napkins were very linty but the awesome server even brought a lint roller to clean our clothes before we left. We will definitely be returning
comfortable vibes and my friend said it was one of the best veggie burgers he’s ever tried in a while
Nighthawks – Cozy, retro-style diner with a modern twist. Known for late-night eats, hearty breakfast, and creative comfort food. Friendly staff and relaxed vibe. 4.3/5.
So I'm visiting my friends from Maryland for their Bridal Shower and om Sunday after we recovered from the shower I wanted to get brunch and I found Nighthawks online and it looked super cute. So we made reservations. We walk in and first we love the vibe. It looks like a cute cafe/coffee shop on the inside. Their both Lesbians and I'm a gay man but we felt very accepted and like we were at home. We started with a Caraffe of Mimosas and then the new glazed donuts which were amazing and honestly probably the best donut I ever had. Now for my entree I looked at the menu before hand and I was so looking forward to the Cornbread waffle and the fried chicken. Unfortunately that wasn't on the menu. So I ordered the crispy fried rice and it was delicious. I ate every bite. The only thing I would suggest is it needs hot sauce or some soft of sauce or creamy aspect. Maybe like a spicy aioli. But I used my friends special sauce that she got with her breakfast sandwich and it worked. The breakfast sandwich was also amazing, I finished her half. Then my other friend got the chocolate chip waffles and they were also delicious. I finished hers and we'll and ate about 1/4 of hers. And the Mimosas were perfect. Our server was great. Everything was great. If I'm rating this place out of a 10. I would honestly give them a 8.5. That's only because I really wanted that chicken and waffles because I am a chicken and waffles slut. But I'll be back for the actual wedding in September and we will have 2 other friends with us and possibly their husband. But we will definitely be back.
Great food with local ingredients, expansive drink selection, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Would definitely return here.
I'm enjoying the personalized tours of my new home with my new broski, Kevin, and his wife, Carin! They brought me to Nighthawks for some cocktails. It's a popular spot so we could only manage to get sidebar seating to grab a quick drink. I go in for my basic Gin Martini. Due to how busy it was, I didn't get to consult the bartender so I just went for the Gin from the highest shelf, Monkey 47. It was Carin's turn to get the round, so what can I say .. 😉😜.. My round is next. Anywho... Monkey 47 was the most juniper-flavored Gin I've ever had 🥰🤩🥳👍👍👍👍. There's a reason Gin is my "basic" cocktail, is all I'll say. Great job team!
My only thing to caution people about us that it can get quite loud and busy. The food has always tasted good. I feel wonderful queer vibes from this place.
every fun, eclectic, and unique menu item (food and beverage) work together to create a perfectly curated dinner instead of all screaming for attention on their own. if you are lucky enough to live in Troy please go there as much as you can so it will still be there when we're lucky enough to visit.
What a fabulous place! A friend and I were visiting for the first time and we will definitely have to return! The seasonal mixed drinks were delicious. We had a fantastic sour beer as well. My friend had the turkey schnitzel and it was a huge sandwich on house made Challa bread. Their veggie burger was also delicious! 10/10 experience, definitely worth the visit. Thanks for a great meal :)
We travel a lot and always seek out the best local food options we can find. In all my travels I cannot recall ever enjoying a breakfast/brunch more than the meal I had here. I got the corn chowder with a biscuit on the side the chowder was so wonderfully flavorful with the house hot sauce drizzle adding the perfect kick. The pork pieces were deliciously smokey and added the perfect texture. The biscuits were also outstanding. We'll be back for sure
This is such a cute place with a great vibe, and the food was EXCELLENT. We found the service to be spot-on as well. The kitchen has an interesting take on different kinds of foods; this isn't your run-of-the-mill brunch. Perhaps it's a bit pricey, but we found it a good value because of the inventiveness and deliciousness of the food. We will definitely be back!
I learned about this place on reddit, they said the burgers were amazing. So I took my boyfriend here to calebrate our anniversary, it was great. My boyfriend loved the burgers so much he ordered another 😂. The drinks, dessert and the service were amazing too. We will be back in the future for "the best burgers [he's] ever tasted"
If you want a great brunch, dinner or just a quick bite this is your place! *Dinner - We had the takeaway burger with side Salad and side vegetable of the day which were all excellent! The burger is juicy and the house sauce is just perfect. Salad is fresh and the vegetable of the day was squash which came with a delicious spice sauce. We added the shishito peppers which were also excellent. We returned for Brunch the following day since the dinner was so delicious. *Brunch has a fab choice of drinks and food dishes. We had the shakshuka followed by the brioche donut which both, I think, topped the dinner. The drinks choices are perfect too with a bloody Mary and a cantaloupe Bellini as our faves. Super friendly and helpful staff - don't come to Troy and not try Nighthawks.
I’d recommend: CHEESEBURGER WITH CARAMELIZED ONIONS. This comes close to the best burger I’ve ever tasted in my life. It MELTS in your mouth, literally. It not mushy, but also not thick to where you can’t enjoy it. Perfect. Salad was not worth it, it was $3.50 for lettuce but not dressing.
Nighthawks has left us thoroughly impressed that each of the dishes are entirely house-made and sourced locally from the area. The aesthetics of the establishment are cozy, inviting, and eclectic with a good vibe overall. This restaurant has something for everybody, from picky eaters to experimental foodies and everything in between. Each of the dishes are artfully crafted with high quality ingredients. We would like to give the highest praise to the chef for their creative dishes and we will certainly be returning in the future! Soup of the day - acorn squash soup The soup of the day for this restaurant is always fantastic, we highly recommend getting it. It was a hearty, thick soup that was well-seasoned and good for a cold winter day. The soup was both sweet and spicy with a dash of curry flavor that complimented the squash well. House fettuccine carbonara - These house made noodles were very fresh and had a nice taste/texture to them that paired with a heavy carbonara sauce topped with delicious pork jowl. The jowl was crispy on the outside with a nice, melt in your mouth, soft interior. This is some of the best carbonara we have ever had and it should be a staple dish here! Duck breast, stewed beans, apple & fermented cabbage slaw - Delicious, a perfect medium-rare duck breast with a nice fat cap that was charred & crispy on the exterior which paired well with the pleasant, mineral-rich flavor of the meat. The coleslaw provided the perfect palate cleanser and complimented the strong flavors of the dish. Burgers & Fries - We thought these were very high quality burgers. Each of the ingredients were very fresh and the beef had a great flavor to it. The fries were great, crispy on the outside while soft and fluffy on the inside. They even had house made pickles! House Smoked Coppa Poutine - This poutine is fantastic, it is a unique take on a traditional poutine that I have never had before. While I enjoy a typical poutine after living in Canada, this one had a gravy that was a mixture of sweet and savory with actual cheese curds and sweet pickled red peppers. This poutine makes me wish that it was more popular in the states. Smoked celeriac (vegan) - The vegan option for the week was a delicious smoked celeriac with a bunch of fresh herbs and veggies underneath a savory and delightful romesco sauce. The celeriac was hardy and robust with a texture that had a fresh crisp crunch which left us satisfied. Overall, the dish was a texture and flavor delight. Ultimately, this restaurant is fantastic. Between the creativity and quality of the dishes to the relaxed, eclectic vibe, we love this place!
Nighthawks had some of the best food and drink that I've had in a very long time. Their focus on farm-to-table and sustainability sourced foods is reflected in the quality of their ingredients and diversity of their menu. The service and talented chefs and mixologists that they have on staff are also top-notch. You would be hard pressed to find much better food in the Troy area, especially if you're looking for fresh and pickled ingredients.
I have never had a bad meal here. Best burgers in town in my opinion, and the burger deal during the week is unbeatable. Not only are the burgers great, but the entrees and the brunch menu are always unique and top notch. Staff is always very friendly and inside is clean and uniquely decorated.
There is no question, this place gets a 5 star across the board. Their food is perfect every time, fresh, delicious and without a doubt made by/ served by the best staff. For all the coffee lovers, it’s always made fresh and makes the experience even better by sipping on a delicious hot cup of coffee. Today I had their Peach Bellini - one of the best champagne brunchy drinks I’ve tried. Enjoy!
Stopped in for brunch before heading back home to NYC. Turned out to be a fantastic choice! I am not generally a brunch fan, but this was terrific. I had perfectly fried egg on excellent tomato slices on an English muffin. Husband had waffles with corn--sounds weird but was delicious. Pleasant server, cute old building. Cocktails sounded great though didn't have any with a driving upcoming.
This is an amazing place. Great ambiance coupled with stand out food. The burger meat is from Highland Hollow should I say anything else. If you don't know about Highland Hollow beef go and educate yourself on it bc it is the best locally. The beef tongue pastrami hash was out of this world....yes beef tongue 👅. I never thought I would like beef tongue. The drink cocktails were also sooooo amazing. Get the gluten free opera cake OMG! I can't say enough about this amazing restraunt this is a must on your amazing restaurant list if you are a foodie like me and my husband. We WILL be back soon.
In the Albany, NY area? Looking for a great little food and drink venue? Get out to Nighthawks in downtown Troy. My son and I ate there last night and I could barely finish half of this humongous Turkey Snitzel on Hallal bread! Only half because you need to save room for dessert; a slice of opera cake. Oh yeah. Living well in Troy!
Nice experience with a new place. Glad that we trusted the previous reviews of this place as it didn’t disappoint. We had biscuit with sausage and egg, the bagel/cheese/trout/etc; and bagel and farmers cheese breakfast. All was great. The trout was impressive. The place is rather small so make reservation before heading there- it is a cozy place and the staff are very nice.
Always amazing service, always amazing food. I think a lot of people are missing out on the Sunday brunch. This spot is reasonably prices with specialized menus each week based on the chefs desires or the seasons offers. You can always count on their burgers. And if you don't mind making a mess the chicken sandwiches are out of this world.
We stopped here for cocktails and had an amazing experience! The bartender was so knowledgeable and friendly. The flavor profiles of the drinks spot on. Amazing selection of liquor and a creatively delicious drink menu. Highly recommended. While we didn't have time for food, I have eaten here before and all of the ingredients are top notch and sourced with love. Well worth a visit!
If your in Troy check this place out!!Ordered steak frites, head cheese and gougeres! Great service, atmosphere and food. Will definitely be back!
If youre looking for an amazing farm to market burger then look no further! Great atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. We will definitely come back.
In town for family event and found this gem. Well it seems it has already been found. New to us at least. Steady crowd with lots of locals. We were warmly greeted and sat quickly. Lucky to get a seat because it filled up quick. Enjoyed two drinks, Pongo and Perdita & Black Amon at Zero. Stellar. Food was fantastic. Ordered the Monkfish and Steak Frite. Fantastic.
Nighthawks is our go-to spot - you can sit at the bar for a drink and sandwich or on birthdays/anniversaries reserve a table and order from the special dinner menu (avail Thurs-Sat I believe) their everyday menu has something for every diet and price point. I’ve never had anything less than delicious here. Food is fresh and local and we’re always treated well. It’s the first restaurant I recommend to people looking for a spot in Troy and where I take my family and friends when they come to visit.
We visited Nighthawks today for the first time. Some family members were there also. We were all treated very kindly by Sean, our server. He was very upbeat and very attentive, trying to take care of all our gastronomic desires. We sat outside and the family members brought their dog. Sean was very kind to the 🐕 and brought her a bowl of water to drink. The drinks arrived promptly as did the food. Every one enjoyed the food and the time. The 2 children in the family also had a good time. These family times together are precious and was savored at Nighthawks. I will definitely return.
I've only been to Nighthawks twice, but both times were memorable. The first time we went for dinner, vibes were great, food was amazing, and cocktails were delish. Recently, we went for brunch, and both my boyfriend and I had the spicy braised beef cheek with cheese grits, pickled peppers, crispy onions, and basil pesto. My boyfriend literally said, "It's probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time." The flavor combination in this dish was incredible—everything complemented each other perfectly. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! And can we talk about the presentation? Absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend making reservations in advance since they’re pretty busy on weekends for brunch. Can’t wait to visit again! 😩🤤🤤
From the beginning to the end- the service, the atmosphere, the music, the lighting, the food! 5 stars or more. Fresh and delicious ingredients. Watching the chef make the house made pasta was the highlight on my night! Wonderful job. The Monday night pasta is a must!! The cocktail menu is beautiful. Just an amazing experience and I will be back. Thank you, thank you.
Some friends took us to Nighthawks for dinner. Our group had two dogs with us so we took an outdoor table for six people. A few of us had the veggie Cheeseburger. We also had two large orders of french fries, and a butternut squash bisque. The Veggie Cheeseburger is homemade and delicious. The service was excellent. The server checked on us the right amount of time and answered a few food questions. Inside has a nice atmosphere. Next time I hope to eat inside.
We were greeted promptly upon entering this afternoon & seated quickly. Our server was knowledgeable & attentive. After observing a nearby diner's brunch choice, my companion & I ordered the scratch made cinnamon bun to share, followed by an omelet with mushrooms served with a side of dressed greens. Everything was fresh & delicious. The cinnamon bun was the best we have ever eaten. Even the tshirts worn by the staff & designed by our server were great; beautiful & so unique. Can't wait to go again. Nighthawks is absolutely wonderful.
We tried here on Sunday 10-20 we were seated quickly by great host. Everyone was awesome this place is definitely our kinda place our kinda people. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. It was cooked perfectly as I ordered. The fries were excellent also. My wife got the house made veggie burger. No pics sry. She said that it was the best she's ever had. For price you can not go wrong here. And we will absolutely be going back.
I have had some great meals at Nighthawks. The vibe as you walk in is very inviting and welcoming. The fried chicken sandwich and cheeseburger are two of my favorite things to get. I can’t also say enough about the asparagus toast or cinnamon bun. There are so many different options and sometimes it can be difficult to choose. I see that as a good thing because sometimes you want to have that problem! The outdoor seating is very nice as well during the hotter months and I would definitely recommend making reservations if you are going not matter the day or time just to make sure you can get a table. There is a bar to sit as well, but if you want a table I would suggest making a reservation.
Nighthawks is one of my favorite places to eat in Troy! The menu is fascinating and filled with bangers, and the staff is super friendly. I’ve had some of my all-time favorite dishes eating here. As a note—the attached photos (save for the one with the cod and greens, which I had last night and it was amazing) aren’t just from recent menus. I’ve been here a bunch of times and wanted to highlight some of my favorite meals there! By the way, get the opera cake for dessert.
Cool little restaurant. Small and unique menu . I heard really good things about the cheeseburger, so I tried it as is. I wasn’t a fan of it for a few reasons but would try it again ordering differently next time- with no house sauce, cooked medium rare. I’m usually down for a messy burger but this was saturated and soggy all around. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was really cool, I dig the pink lighting. The house salad was really awesome and the cheese balls were also great. I will definitely come back here when in town.
I loved this restaurant soooo much! The burger literally melted in my mouth!!! I've never had that experience before, the fries were great and you can't tell they weren't no frozen fries they tasted like fresh potatoes with the right amount of salt. The waitress was lovely he was sooo nice and attentive to me and my sister and that blueberry muffin! Was so delicious I never had one that tasted so delicious I even ordered another one to eat later on. I surely will be returning when I'm back in town 😊
Busy cozy open kitchen restaurant. Creative cocktails and unique dishes. Cool vibe attentive friendly staff.
Had dinner here with friends before a concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on Friday. Nighthawks is less than half a mile from the Hall, so an easy walk. The neighborhood between the two venues was a bit dubious, but our small group was not harassed. Nighthawks, itself, is in a lively area with several restaurants. The restaurant does have tables outside, but we dined inside. The food was unique and tasty (there are vegetarian and vegan options, as well as options for meat-eaters), prices were not bad, and service was fine. It being a Friday night before a concert, the place was packed, and very noisy. It was tough to have any conversation, and we even had difficulty hearing our server. But, otherwise, no complaints.
Fantastic burgers. I can't wait to go back and try something from the fancy menu.
We ate outside for lunch. The service was great. The cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever had, diner style. I had moved away from the area many years ago and could not believe they had Genny Cream Ale on the menu. Had to have one for old time sakes. That could have been a bit colder. Overall a great spot.
Food was delicious and the farm-fresh menu was really good. The quality of the food was top notch. Scallops were seared perfecty and the seasoning on the pork ribs was great. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very nice. However our waitress was very awkward and treated us poorly. Despite the bad service, would come back in hopes of another waitress.
Place was recommended because of its burgers. Wanted to see if they were better than those at Illusive's in Rensselaer, but although good, they are not as good as Illusive's. When I asked for the burger to be medium well, I was told it was a smashed type of burger so it would come out well done, which made sense. When I got the burger however, it was on the medium side, so not sure why I was told it would be well done. House wine glass was 14 bucks, and have had definitely fuller glasses for that price. Overall, decent burger, but is not a burger that merits a second visit.
Farm to table. Delicious food great drinks. Menu changes weekly. Burgers are to die for. Scratch made everything including buns for 🍔.
The only thing is I wish they had more vegan options, or at least one vegan dessert! What they do have is phenomenal. I just get sad when they only have one vegan option in their rotating specials, because I’m not a fan of the vegan burger they have on the all day menu and there’s so many good looking options for carnivores or vegetarians. I reserved a table for my birthday and had a wonderful time, but at the end the server told my boyfriend that they don’t have any vegan dessert or else I would have gotten a complimentary dessert for my birthday, I was so sad! Other than that, I like nighthawks.
Despite being unable to get tomatoes on it, the burger cook was awesome. Think farm to table smash burger. Bar and beer selection is modest. But I prefer that. Quality in deliberate quantity. Small, cozy and possibly chaotic if they are packed. 4 stars because It's my first visit and consistency matters. I'll be back
This quaint restaurant recommends reservations and I can confirm it’s best if you have them as there’s limited seated. You start off with a clipboard that has around 6-7 pages of different menus including brunch, all day food, dinner, spirits, other alcohol, and dessert/ cocktail menu… it was a bit much having to look through all those. The service was great, very attentive and food came out timely. My friend ordered the shirred egg plate from the brunch menu. I tried the eggs and they had a really nice flavor and were cooked perfect. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist and well cooked, but I was not a fan of the herb dressing on it. To me it took over all other flavors and was not ideal. I added in fries for an extra $3.50 which I would probably not do again. Overall it was an enjoyable experience but I would try something else next time.
Nighthawks is a farm-to-table restaurant in Troy, NY. The restaurant has a unique setting with punk rock vibes. It has a small menu, but it is updated and changed frequently. The burgers and fries here are very good. The veggie burgers are the largest I’ve seen anywhere, and they are tasty. The restaurant feels kind of small inside and depending on how many are there it can feel cramped. Service and staff were prompt and friendly. Ordering takeout works very well here and food is done on time. Nighthawks is definitely worth a try.
I took my teenage son, and we both really liked our food. I'm glad there's a burger on the menu because it was the only thing he was interested in, so that's something to keep in mind if you have younger kids or picky eaters. The pickles on our burgers were the best part, as they were amazing. They said they had to seat us at the bar because we didn't have a reservation, which was kinda weird because the place was mostly empty the whole time we were there, but the bartender was incredibly sweet. I will say that it is very expensive. I got one mixed drink, my son had a root beer, and our two burgers and fries was $75 including the tip.
heard really good things about this place, went and sat at the bar cause there was a bit of a wait. my drink was really good! but our burgers took about 45 minutes to come out and they were burnt to a crisp. way too expensive for what it was. found this place on a reddit thread about the best burgers in the capital region - honestly can't believe it, I wish we had just gone to herbies.
We saw the great reviews and the menu was small but imaginative so we had high hopes. Unfortunately, the only dish that was satisfying was the veggie burger. The chicken was a bad cut and not edible. On the other hand, the burger was pretty good but it was too salty. The service was excellent!
Very cute and eclectic spot in central Troy. Excellent vibe, good drinks, decent food... Before I get roasted, the food wasn't the highlight. I order Moules and Fries, mussels and fries, the national dish of Belgium. The mussels came a bit undercooked for my taste. Although I didn't specify my preference, I like them a bit more cooked for the texture. It was the fries that put me off. The choice to cook crispy fries, which were over salted and soggy with oil, in the same bowl with the mussels was the problem for me. The fries sat in the broth making them wet and inedible. This for certain isn't the last time I'll come here. I'll go for something else. My partner ordered the turnip noodles. Great dish but a bit "watered" down. The cheese sauce was more liquid than cheese. We were expecting something akin to an alfredo style cheese sauce. It wasn't that.
The burger was good. However, I asked for a desert suggestion, and I was recommended the lavender maple pecan pie. This pie ruined my experience, not only was it $15, but it also made me get food poisoning. I was disappointed at the desert experience because the burger was good, and it pains me to post a 2 star review. EDIT: It's best if I just run through my experience, and you can be the judge of that. I went with 2 of my friends to nighthawks at around 9pm, we all got the same burger, except I asked for opera cake before leaving. 2 hours after we got back home, I started feeling nauseas and other symptoms, and I was the only one, my friends felt fine. This is how I deduced that it might have been the cake. Maybe I was too direct in saying it was the cake, but the experience just lined up for me to assume it was the cake.
Burger is delicious!!! Awesome service. I was sitting at bar and it was open kitchen. I notice cook did not wear any gloves and just wiped hands. Personally I find that gross.
My party of two got dinner and drinks here and decided to sit outside. The lady who sat us was very nice but our server seemed a bit off... Maybe she was having a bad day but the tone and smiles she gave us throughout the night were a little off putting and made us feel unwelcome. Unfortunately the food was not that great. The burger was dry and the bun was burned. It wasn't terrible but it was mid. For the price and the taste, I don't recommend. We might give this place another chance as the ambiance was pretty good and the staff was very friendly, with the exception of our server.
This place somehow managed to waste my time and my appetite. Glacial service, food that tasted like it was prepared out of spite, and prices that suggest a restaurant operating under extreme delusion. The atmosphere was as lifeless as the meals. I’ve had better experiences microwaving regret at home. Never again.
