I took my partner here to celebrate his birthday and it was very delicious! The space is small and intimate. You’ll most likely need a reservation to get seated. There were 2 chefs when we went, and the one we talked to was Ken. He was very friendly and kind. Everything about the experience felt intentional which I appreciated. We had the lunch omakase menu which was $68 per person. The interior was minimal and ambient. My favorites were as pictured: ocean trout, sashimi salad, toro, and the hojicha dessert at the end. We learned that they had just passed their first year in service since opening in September 2024! I would recommend coming here if you want to experience omakase without absolutely breaking your bank, although I’m sure the dinner omakase is also just as good if you’re willing to cash out for it. A plus for me is that the bathroom had a bidet with a heated seat lol. Congrats on Kuramoto’s 1st anniversary and here’s to more to come!
The lunch omakase is definitely great value. The food is high quality & delicious, service and ambiance is perfect. Highly recommended
This restaurant is Michelin-star quality —no doubt about it. The omakase showcases top-tier ingredients, rivaling what I typically fly to Japan for. Every bite of fish melts in your mouth, delivering an unforgettable culinary experience. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were so impressed that we booked our next visit before finishing our meal, and we couldn’t stop talking about it for days. I discovered this place on Instagram with no expectations, but after the first piece of sushi, I was completely blown away. Highly recommend.
Very pleasant lunch experience! High quality sushi and attentive service. Already planning our next visit!!!
Perfect! Sashimi is super fresh and tasty. Hot dish are super too.
I have been excitedly anticipating the grand opening of Kuramoto Omakase! Our experience was delicious and entertaining. Chef Taiki-san's attention to detail is highlighted in each dish with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. His creative presentation flowed from one course to the next. My favorite dish of the evening was the wagyu with uni and caviar, which melted in my mouth with a rich and buttery note. The unagi with foie gras on toast was also very flavorful. I recommend this place to all seasoned sushi lovers and anyone looking to explore authentic Japanese cuisine.
Absolutely delightful. The sushi was so good! The service was an excellent experience. The interior adds to the lovely experience.
We had the shorter course omakase and it was amazing! We have tried omakase all over LA and also some in OC, and this is one of the top experiences. It would be nice for these chefs to explain how they came up with each course/flavor profile. I’m sure it gets repetitive so maybe have the sous chef or the host do it because it is always your guest’s special dinner. I think it’s the chef culture in Japan because I have never had anything explained to me, just the ingredients used.
Had a great meal and wonderful time @kuramotoomekase private and reservation only restaurant in Tustin, offering an exceptional dining experience that stands out for its authentic omekase Japanese cuisine like you are in Japan. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, a great spot for your next special intimate dining experience. The menu features a variety of dishes and over 10 courses; top shelf Sashimi, various starters and appetizers, 8 pieces of chef’s choice nigiri, a featured dish with succulent A5 wagyu that is to die for, and more. The sushi selection and multiple course dinner is impressive, showcasing freshness and skill in preparation by Chef Taiki and team. Service is attentive and knowledgeable, with a top notch experience throughout your meal and the saki drinks just keep flowing. If you’re looking for an authentic omekase, high-quality Japanese food in an exclusive private and intimate setting, Kuramoto is definitely worth a visit. 5 stars and highly recommend!
This is what a 15-course omakase looks like in Tustin, California. Ok so like I didn't know I would be walking into the presence of a superstar. Chef Taiki is a Michelin guide-recognized chef and won a freakin' cooking competition on Hulu! Our seating was only 6 people so it felt like an intimate dinner party. The atmosphere is super cozy while being luxe, and Chef Taiki was kind of sassy, love it. Now let's get back to it. We started with a few seasonal appetizers, like a Vietnamese-inspired rice paper roll. The chawanmushi was so silky and heartwarming on a winter day. Then we started to get into the sushi, which is what we've been waiting for. Each bite just kept topping the last one. Some highlights had to be the seabream and uni topped with ossetra caviar and 24 karat gold, SO decadent. I'm a seared sushi lover, so when the chef handed us the A5 wagyu with foie gras, I was in heaven. BUT my favorite bite of the night had to be the smoked scallops which almost had the consistency of cheese but so full of smoky flavor, and it came with a mini whole fried crab! If you're looking for good sushi AND a good time, definitely check out Kuramoto. Thanks for reading! ^-^
Creative and authentic Japanese cuisine. Our experience was fun and satisfying. My favorite dish was the wagyu, uni, topped with cavier! Definitely recommend this place to all foodies and sushi lovers.
Their Omakase lunch service is sooo good 😍 I think it’s the best omakase I’ve ever had and at such a good price too. Service was fast. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Excellent sushi preparation & beautiful presentation. Friendly atmosphere
It was beyond our expectations Foods was amazing we have never tasted these kinds of sushi before absolutely fantastic Server was also very kind We loved to hear chef’s explanation We will definitely visit again and again

Hands down for the chef, whose culinary skills have transformed the dining experience into an art form. Each dish he presents is a masterpiece, carefully crafted with a blend of flavors that dance on the palate.

This is our second time at the restaurant. Came for Omakase lunch ($68/person). I overheard the chef say the lunch menu is not changed very often, and depend on what seafood is available. Prix Fixe lunch menu started with a Sashimi salad (shrimp, raw fish, greens in a delicious refreshing dressing. Steamed egg dish (smooth velvety chawanmushi had scallop, shrimp and gingko nut, topped with a very deeply flavorful broth). The next chef's choice nigiri seemed to try to outdo each dish that follwed in succession, each piece delicious, and topped with various kosho, yuzu or other pickled relish. Sea bream - topped with green Yuzu Kosho and kelp salt Ocean trout - fatty and smooth mouth feel Amberjack - topped with red Yuzu Kosho (slightly spicy) and such a nice bite A fun piece was striped Jack with Yuzu pickled wasabi topped with rice puffs Black cod topped with truffle salt Bluefin Tuna with nori paste Chopped toro with pickled radish After the nigiri, we got a bowl of Santa Barbara Uni with salmon roe (ikura) The last dish served was tamago (slightly sweet egg that was more of a cake feel and texture). In between the last course and dessert was a warm bowl of fish bone dashi (with tofu and kombu bits). Finale was a strawberry mousse dessert topped with a dolop of sweet cream and a white chocolate coin. I followed chef's recommendation to have the Tenbu Junmai Ginjo to round out the delicious meal - refreshing, fruity and crisp - smooth and light finish. Chef Taiki Kuramoto was serving everything today with his chef partner (I forgot to ask his name). Japanese bathroom fixture has a warmed toilet seat and automated open/shut/flush functions. Highly highly highly recommend.
Wow! This place far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I visited to celebrate his birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. We had the Omakase for lunch, and every single course blew us away. Each piece of sushi offered a uniquely exquisite flavor, with the fish practically melting in our mouths. The quality, presentation, and attention to detail were truly top-notch. This was an incredible culinary journey—an absolute must for anyone who loves Japanese cuisine!
Kuramoto delivers A great experience with a chef known for Omakase This plaza seems to familiar. A sushi spot back in the early 2000's once sat here... but that is now a faded memory now that Kuramoto and Chef Taiki have taken over. Inside is beautiful and modern. Natural elements of wood and stone work well to bring everything together. All courses were phenomenal that its hard to choose a favorite. Omakase is the perfect way to try fish you never even thought you would have tried, and to ruin your idea of good tasting fish. Sake and Toro? Nah bro, that's not it. It is on par with the other "REAL" Omakase spots in OC, and they are serving the same great cuts of fish. However Chef Taiki introduces some of his own flair with dishes that I've never encountered before (see pics) and he knocks it out of the park. Lunch looks very affordable if you want to dip your feet in. I think this is definitely a place to add to your list. Reservations on TOCK required to hold your seat.
Visited this restaurant for lunch omakase. Gorgeous and classy interior with upscale, tasteful dining wares. With only 10 bar seats (no tables), the space feels exclusive and intimate. The food was close to perfection. Each course was paced a bit faster than I would’ve liked, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the toro and pickled radish combo toward the end of the 7-sushi course—the radish was a bit too overpowering and masked the flavor of the toro. Loved the dessert: shiso sorbet! Overall, I rate this restaurant 4.5/5 — highly recommend. Their lunch omakase is very reasonably priced.
Chef Taiki Kuramoto is truly one of a kind! A must try Omakase in Orange County. Chef Taiki is very passionate about his craft and loves showcasing his food with smiles and laughter.
I really enjoyed the 2-hour course and definitely would come back soon! It's good place to celebrate special occasions too!
Easily the best sushi in Orange County. The fish is imported from Japan and his skill set is authentic. This is literally a gift from the heavens. Thank you for opening this restaurant. Tustin is blessed.
Such an amazing spot with great vibes. We went for the lunch omakase and the food was excellent!
Everything about this restaurant is chef kiss!! Omg the food the service and the staffs. 10/10 would recommend again.
Had a great lunch Omakase here. I'd say it's the best I've had outside of Japan. We will be back.
Wow. Just Wow. A treasured find that rivals the top Japanese restaurants in California. A total zen experience
Top choices in Irvine, a Must Try!
A place you will never bored of!
One of the best omakase experiences. They should get 1 or 2 Michelin stars soon. Black cod with black truffle, amazing chowder, small crunchy crab, toro with roe and fish shaped crisps, burnt black tea flan
One of the best omakase!! Everything was great from beginning to end. Highly recommend it. Reservations are not required but the seating is limited (no tables, just bar seating) so the risk of not having a seat without reservation is very high.

I recently dined at this small, intimate Japanese sushi spot and overall had a pleasant experience. The space is simple yet classy, with a clean, understated décor that creates a relaxed atmosphere. Service was attentive and professional throughout the meal. I understand the chef previously worked at Hamamori, which set certain expectations for me. The food presentation was beautiful — each piece was plated with care and elegance. The omakase was good and thoughtfully prepared, but it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression. The flavors leaned very plain and subtle, and I found myself wishing for a bit more depth, seasoning, or contrast to really elevate each course. That said, it’s still a solid and enjoyable sushi experience. I’ve been fortunate to travel and try many omakase spots around the world, so my standards may be on the higher side. While this one didn’t “wow” me, it’s good, clean, and simple — and worth checking out if you appreciate a more restrained, minimalist style of sushi
Made a reservation for lunch since I had business nearby. It's located in a large-ish shopping center with a decent amount of parking. The space is clean, somewhat minimal, and intimate with only bar seating. I feel like the bar top is a little high which obscures the view of the chefs working, but NBD. Lunch moves at your pace of choosing unless you linger. Service is nice enough, pretty typical. The lunch Omakase starts with a sashimi salad which was just average. Chawanmushi was solid with a mild flavored stock, smooth egg and pieces of seafood. Sushi followed and though it was pleasant, there was nothing memorable, out of the ordinary, or hyper seasonal. The Tamago was really light and ate almost like a cake. The cup of dashi before dessert was a treat. A solid lunch for the price point, but nothing really stood out. I'm sure dinner service will offer more highpoints but of course comes the equivalence in price. I'd come back for lunch if I was in the area, but it's not worth a special trip.
Great fish quality. I particularly enjoyed the stripe jack and the piece with yuzu (forget the name). I enjoyed the Ambiance and decor as well. The only feedback I would give is that I felt a little rushed. I get that there was another seating after us, but I’ve been to many restaurants with timed seatings and didn’t feel rushed. Still worth coming back though.

We came here after seeing some influencer hype and were immediately impressed. Walking in feels like being transported straight to a high-end sushi bar in Tokyo! The service and atmosphere are top-tier. However, the sushi itself was just okay. While the toppings/add-on flavors were good, the fish lacked that rich, "melt-in-your-mouth" quality and natural oiliness you expect from premium cuts like otoro or engawa. The crème brûlée at the end was a highlight, and the pricing is fair, but for the same cost, I find the fish quality in Little Tokyo to be more satisfying. It's a great spot for the "Japan experience," but if you're strictly chasing the best possible fish, you might be disappointed.
It's good just not good value for your money. I honestly could not tell the quality difference between this over $200 a person omakase or a $60 deluxe chirashi bowl from other places near by. Also being still hungry after a long course meal is just fundemntally ridiculous.
Not sure if I went on an off-day but generally the fish did not smell or taste right. They do not age the fish properly. My friend could not finish his appetizer salad due to the fishiness of the sashimi. Service improved later on in the meal but no greeting from the sushi chefs when seated also makes the atmosphere awkward. I was very much looking forward to the experience but unfortunately I will not be returning.
