We watched the Rams vs. Seahawks and headed out late to grab some food. The original plan was sushi, but we couldn’t find the hidden restaurant and honestly, ending up at Barrio Social felt like a happy accident. Like all our meals, we went family-style. Tapas to start, of course. The jamón ibérico con tomaquet was a smoky, delicious way to kick things off while we figured out the rest of the order. With help from the super friendly manager, Chris, we planned out our spread: tortilla española, gambas al ajillo, croquetas, mussels and the octopus….all fantastic. The croquetas were different from what I would have expected…heavy and the one thing I wouldn’t order again. The mussels had a ton of flavor, the octopus was delicious-along with the two different preparations of potatoes on the side- tortilla espanola a must! The scallops crudo and bluefin tuna tiradito were also big hits at the table. We finished with a seafood paella so everyone could get a taste, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Total win of a stop — and a hit with everyone.
From the staff, to the owner, to the bartenders, to the food to the quality of everything- completely great and so enjoyable. My fiancé and I have been here for 4 days and have come 3 out for 4 times bc it’s such a great place. Atmosphere, food, environment, vibes- you got it all. Definitely take the time to check it out and ask for Gavin to make you a badass espresso martini or whatever drink you’d like.
We had a great experience. The sirloin steak dish was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious, and the seafood stew was outstanding as well. We finished with tiramisu which was great! The service was excellent—everyone was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable, making it a place we’d happily return to.
Great menu, atmosphere, and service! It's so nice to have a 'breath of fresh air" in Vail Village restaurant options. The Paella is a must! Steak cooked to perfection, Fresh Shrimp, Oysters only added to my delight. Get a reservation!
Food was great. Enjoyed the bass and the paella. Good spanish wine selection. Our server was very attentive
Barrio Social is an absolute must-visit. Hands down the best espresso martini in town — perfectly balanced, smooth, and dangerously good. The vibe is on point, but what really makes the place special is the service. Huge shoutout to Gavin, aka the Gav Meister — incredible bartender, super welcoming, and clearly knows his craft. You can tell he takes pride in what he serves, and it shows in every drink. If you’re anywhere near Vial Village and want a top-tier cocktail (especially an espresso martini), Barrio Social should be at the top of your list. We’ll definitely be back. 🍸☕️
Gavin was such an exceptional help on choosing what drinks for this winter season. Stopped by on the way to Aspen to get a drink and Barrio Social didn’t fail us. Will definitely be stopping by for dinner again.
Stopped-in on a whim while trying out restaurants around Vail on our wedding anniversary. We had no idea what to expect, but can honestly say that out of all the places we stopped, this was our favorite! The menu is seafood-forward, so we decided to start with the shrimp carpaccio. We were blown away by the flavor and freshness. It is rare to get totally sweet-smelling shrimp in a mountain town! Then we moved on to the bone marrow and beef tartare, which was truly comparable to dishes that we enjoyed in the French countryside. To top it all off, we were served by the kindest bartender named Gavin, who makes a MEAN margarita! Definitely drop by this place for fresh, flavor-filled take on dinner and drinks in the Vail Village!
As I was walking through the village, I noticed their seafood paella special and I had to try it! It did not disappoint, I was very impressed with this place. The ambience of the place was on point. The cocktails were executed to perfection by the bartender Gavin! Our server, Tim recommended an appetizer special Tian Squash Blossom, it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, this is a must eat at restaurant while in Vail I will be back!
We are locals and are mistaken for not making it to Barrio Social until now. Fabulous location, great drinks, and lovely food. We are vegetarian, ordered a bunch of random plates to share, and enjoyed them all. Maria was a lovely and very helpful Spanish waitress. Gavin’s espresso martini is spot on, not sweet, but espresso and vodka forward. Definitely recommend.
Me and my boyfriend went couple nights ago for dinner to this amazing Spanish food restaurant, the food was great and also de place and serving. Maria was our server that night we ask her few things about the menu and she answered and recommended some dishes perfectly, also Gavin the Bartender made a really good esspreso martini for us (best I ever try) thank you so much for make us a lovely night. Recommended 100%
We chose this restaurant solely based on finding out they had a squid ink seafood fideua. We’d visited Spain, and had a squid ink paella in the past, so I was really looking forward to this dish. After confirming our reservation with a $40 deposit, we were locked in. It was only after that, that we saw their google rating was relatively low, at a 3.6. My husband, who chooses movies not to watch based on their rotten tomatoes ratings, was skeptical. While I enjoyed the meal, it was his enthusiasm that really impressed me most. (I always enjoy a seafood dinner, and usually he tolerates my requests but prefers something with more flavor overall). We both enjoyed the dinner, and he said the clams were especially surprisingly flavorful, with the sauce and seasonings in the dish. Additionally, the Brussels sprouts were the best either of us have ever had, and we frequently order those as well. (To show I’m not fully biased, the cauliflower was just ok). The seafood for our meal was picked fresh, directly from their seafoood counter inside the restaurant. The homemade sangria was tasty. Our waitress was very honest and friendly. The hostess was less warm, which may have contributed to others’ ratings, but there was minimal interaction there anyway. Overall, the venue is gorgeous, and the food was phenomenal. I’m giving it 5 stars to help get this rating up to where it should be.
A wonderful restaurant! Authentic Spanish flavors in every dish, from olives and cheese to jamón. Quick service and excellent hospitality! The staff is attentive and friendly. Everything was top-notch! Great value for money. Highly recommend 100%!
I stumbled upon this spot in Vail while deciding where to eat and I’m so glad I did. Gavin at the bar immediately caught my attention with his confidence in crafting an espresso martini—and it lived up to the hype. His meticulous attention to detail was evident, and the drink was fantastic. Beyond the bar, the overall service stood out for its presentation, flavor, and timeliness. The dish I tried was incredibly delicious, and the scallops were cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be returning here on my next trip to Vail!
We visited Barrio Social twice while we were in Vail and had great experiences both times. Sit at the bar if Gavin is bartending - he is super knowledgeable on all things food & beverage, and we had a fun time chatting with him. The plate with Spanish jamon, olives, and almonds is a great app. Great wine selection too.
Amazing place; We were looking for good options for an early dinner and discovered this gem in Vail with great food spanish style including several tapas to share. We enjoyed the salad with goat cheese with mussels and grilled octopus. Service was on point by Bruno and Bianca and the manager Kibo greet us and stopped by few times also to check. Chef also showed up to ask how was everything. Fully recommended. We will be back!
Great drinks and desert, Gavin is amazing, he made the night for us!
We’re repeat visitors here. The food is interesting and delicious, always satisfying. The service is/was great both visits. We really appreciate our server Tim, and we’ll see you all again soon. As I’m reading reviews here, I hate seeing pretentious, entitled people writing intensely critical reviews. Give this place a try and see for yourself! It’s a great addition to Vail! Thank you.
I walked in for desert based on the atmosphere, very warm, inviting, open, modern. The Tiramisu was absolutely delicious. It was one of the best I have ever had. Great wine selection too.
Randomly stopped in, and was so surprised how friendly and pleasant the place was! FYI Gavin makes the best old fashion in Vail, second to know one!! Great atmosphere, people and food!
Gavin was fantastic! He recommended some really amazing dishes and the espresso martini was the best we had while in vail. The vibe of the restaurant was fun and we had a great time!
The Zarzuela (fish) stew was extraordinary. Perfect balance in the broth, care in cooking the seafood…it hit on every note. The peach tart was great . The service was exactly right. Very glad that I stopped in.
Barrio Social is a must-visit in Vail! Amazing tacos, delicious margaritas, great atmosphere, and friendly service. Perfect spot for après-ski or a night out. Highly recommend! 🍹⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our server, Gavin was outstanding! He recommended chile de Arbol margarita in addition to the Basque cheesecake which is divine! I highly recommend Barrio Social, and ask for Gavin.
We have tried Barrio Social a few times in the past and wanted to try it again since it has been a while. Barrio Social has improved significantly since it first opened. We had talked to a few friends and every one told us their most recent experience was outstanding. Our dinner was too. Every dish was delicious. We tried 2 appetizers and 2 fish entrees and all were outstanding. Service was great too. We sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the outstanding people watching. If you have not tried Bario Social you should. They have got their act together. A wonderful experience.
Dined on 8/26/25. We tried to go to La Bottega but they would not open their patio and sent us next door to Barrio Social- so glad they did. We had never dined at a Spanish restaurant and we all had a great meal. We sat on the outside patio and had excellent service from Gavin & Alex. The paella with lobster was recommended and did not disappoint. Gavin recommended our Spanish beers and wine. Restaurant is a home run. Will definitely return.
Chris and the staff were wonderful, made you feel at home. The Chilean Sea Bass was remarkable.... but I suggest going right for the Peach Tart dessert and a cappuccino! Decadent.... and a magical evening.
Gavin was the best!!! Best cocktails ever and really sold the experience for us. Gavin makes the best espresso martinis!!!! Best guy ever!
Barrio Social in Vail is an absolute must-visit if you’re looking for bold flavors, great vibes, and top-tier service. The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming—perfect for après-ski, a night out with friends, or a relaxed dinner. The food is outstanding. Every dish is packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and creative twists on classic Mexican favorites. The tacos are especially memorable, and the menu offers something for everyone. Their cocktails and margaritas are expertly crafted and pair perfectly with the food.
Absolutely outstanding dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and elegant. But what truly made the night unforgettable was our waiter, Gavin. He is a superstar, His recommendations were spot on and elevated the whole meal. The food was flawless, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and the desserts… wow! The Basque cheesecake and the crema catalana were absolute BOMB!
I had an espresso martini made by Gavin, and it was genuinely outstanding. He used freshly brewed espresso, which gave the drink a rich, warm flavor and a beautiful crema on top. You can tell he knows what he’s doing! The cocktail was well-balanced & absolutely delicious. Gavin was also friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. I’d definitely come back just for another one of his espresso martinis.
My spouse is a former food industry professional. One of his favorite challenges and delights is paella. So when we walked by and saw the sign advertising paella we had to try. It did not disappoint. Generous saffron, amazing full flavored seafood paella. Just wonderful. They don't rush or precook it so you have to wait 20-30 minutes but it's the real deal and worth it. We also got their chorizo mussels and they were a savory citrus wonder. Finished the meal with possibly the best cheesecake I've ever had. Can't wait for an excuse to visit Vail and this restaurant again.
We had an amazing experience at Barrio Social in Vail—made even better by our server, Gavin R. Smith. From the moment we sat down, he was personable, funny, and incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. His recommendations were spot-on and truly elevated our entire meal. You can tell he genuinely cares about creating a great experience for his guests. If you’re dining here, ask for Gavin—you won’t be disappointed!
Gavin made the entire dining experience amazing!! He was very informative and attentive!! Our young children loved him! He was so observant to remember their names and to make them feel special! This is the kind of place that when you walk in, they make you feel like family. Looking forward to going back soon! xoxo
We had an incredible experience dining in Vail! The food was amazing, the espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had, and our server Gavin went above and beyond. He was so personable, attentive, and made the whole night even better. Highly recommend!
We had a great Tapas dinner on 1/29/26. Our waiter was very helpful with explaining the dishes and picking out Spanish wine to pair with the food. Beautiful setting with a mountain view and overlooking the busy Vail streets.
Really lovely experience here. The sangria was excellent, the wine recommendation by our waiter was spot on, and the tuna appetizer was incredible! Definitely recommend the paella too! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Truly a wonderful place to spend an evening.
This restaurant is beautiful. The food and drinks are created with great care and it shows. Popped in for an afternoon drink and enjoyed Bue Fin crudo at the bar. Bartender was knowledgeable about the area and the visit was worth going back for. See you next time, Barrio!
Lovely experience, from the host or owner that made us the reservation to accomodate 12 of us and then at the time of dinner with a great welcoming, treating the kids as priority and the adults not left behind. Everything was great, Alex our waiter provided wonderful service. Definitely will come back.
We had such a beautiful evening at Barrio Social. The food was delicious, Gavin's cocktails are amazing and the service was perfect. We will definitely go back. Thank you for having us.
Gavin was absolutely amazing! He made one of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had — crafted with real espresso, which you can totally taste. It was smooth, fresh, and perfectly balanced
Overall place does not worth the cost. The portions are small, but cost is way above average for a good restaurant. That could be ok if service was outstanding… but it wasn’t. Server messed up the table accidentally and never decided to come back and clean, disappointing for such value. The atmosphere is a killer there, though busses pass by often, it’s nice to sit on the terrace. No reason to bring kids in this restaurant, but not bad for couples.
Very cute ski town, and the atmosphere is amazing. The mussels are tasty, but the fried calamari is just okay
Horror I can only say absolutely horrible food. Undercooked lobster with shell all over the top. I passed it around the table and we all photographed the fact it was undercooked andcovered in small pieces of the shell….those who ate it threw up all night. Octopus with no flavor or char nor plating or desire. Sooo over rated if they knew how to prepare it would be a different story. We had it the night before cooked some what better. I am disappointed in this. Beat salad- 4 of us had it and each almost threw up. It was watery rancid old gross. Pure torture to swallow. We love blue cheese pears beats and walnuts you will it’s actually just beats out of a can sliced and then throw on the plate water down red onions it takes two bad I was I’ll. I needed a tums after. Best espresso martini: if you’ve never had one before… not even fresh espresso. They did make a good Bourbon on the rocks. Thought they have a very very very very small amount of options. I will never go again with my friends of family I feel guilty u forced the birthday boy in our group to go he didn’t even get so much as a free dessert for his birthday. Not invoking my server who worked hard and was amazing besides the fact the food was HORRIBLE. 2/10 do not go. L
We live in Vail for a few months each year and have eaten at pretty much every restaurant. We didn’t feel this was a very good value relative to the price. Vs other options nearby. Here’s some Details. If you sit on the patio, it is essential that you be on the left side. The bus stop is right in front of the right side of the patio. The electric buses are pretty quiet, but the diesel ones are very noisy —really kills the atmosphere. Bread - Good quality, excellent butter. Four dollars. A deal. Gazpacho. Pretty tasty. Great deal at $10 Avocado soup. Very nice. Had A reasonable amount of crab sprinkled on top. Around $15 in a good value. Octopus. Not that great. A little stringy. Cut into small pieces, not served as an entire tentacle. Dry. But most oddly , It came with mashed potatoes and potato slices. Since the octopus was dry, there wasn’t any sort of a liquid element or sauce that would’ve really helped out. Disappointing. Poorly thought out and poor execution. Watermelon salad. Probably the highlight of the meal - really well seasoned. Had some nice mini Barada cheeses to go with it. Smart design! Cheese plate. Two of the four cheeses were manchego variants, one with a strong truffle flavor and one with a wine flavor. We didn’t enjoy them. The Pure manchego was excellent. The fourth cheese was OK. Olives were good. Overall, disappointing for the price. Potatoes - ok but not great; expensive. Wine - $17 for a small glass of OK wine is just really typical in Vail. It’s a nice location and the service was OK. We won’t be back. There’s better options.
Update: I went back a year later and it was the singularly worst meal I’ve ever had. The menu is entirely different, everything that was good was terrible or taken off the menu. The croquettes came frozen, the burrata in the salad was frozen and the dressing was terrible. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Food was inedible. Everything we had was amazing. The service was attentive and very helpful with recommendations! We had the Calamar Fries which were amazing, Carne crudo, patatas bravas and the Croquettes de Jamon which were the absolute star of the show (unfortunately I forgot to take a picture we were so excited about them). We also shared the braised iberico cheek which was the perfect entree to share. There is so much left on the menu that I still need to try so I will be back!
Nice atmosphere with very basic and overpriced food. Ordered seafood paella which appeared to be just from a can. If anyone ever try a proper paella they will never order it here even if it’s free. This review not to complain about prices but the quality of food. I’m not a returning customer because of that.
This restaurant is significantly overpriced for what is offered. The portions are small, and while the food was acceptable, it was nothing memorable or worth the high price point. Service throughout the meal was mediocre at best. Unfortunately, the experience was made worse by an interaction with the manager, who was noticeably rude and dismissive rather than helpful or professional. Overall, the quality, service, and value do not align with the cost, and I would not return.
This is not a family friendly restuaunt. We felt unwelcome. If you are looking for a relaxed, welcoming dining experience for your family, this is not the right choice. I strongly recommend this spot for adults only and would advise families to look elsewhere.
Unethical and unknowledgeable for allergies and dietary restrictions. If you have an allergy, do not dine here. I have celiac disease, I mentioned this several times to the host and waiter: I ensured they understood it’s a severe gluten allergy that I cannot have any cross contamination with, this establishment assured I would be safe and they would find gluten free items I could eat safely. After serving me a seafood dish, and confirming it was gluten free, they told me they used gluten free soy sauce, I asked one more time. They checked again and “realized” there is wheat in soy sauce apologized for serving me a dish with gluten, soy sauce, specifically. After this, they charged us for our meal. The least they could do was compensate us for the 3 items we ordered. Never have I had an experience like this, I will not dine or recommend people to dine here again. I hope they improve their knowledge and training for allergies, as well as replace the management that tolerates this irresponsible behavior.
