Wonderful menu and food with a great view across Lake Maggiore, and the pasta selection was delicious. The service is also very good. For example, we shared an Insalada Caprese with Anchovies, which was delicious, and presented it on two seperate plates as the staff knew we were sharing. Little things like this make the world of difference to a dining experience.

This is a very convenient place if you visit Isola Madre. Food is nice, service is OK and quick, and prices are reasonable, for the place.

La Piratera on Isola Madre features a spectacular view of the lake from its lovely terrace. We appreciated the polite and attentive service as well as the interesting selection of local organic lemonades and sodas. The food was underwhelming in proportion to the price, unfortunately. We had the lake perch with rice and the branzino with veggies. Both portions were rather small and cost 31 € and 28 €, respectively. Normally I'd enjoy such a scenic lunch along with an Aperol Spritz, but the price of 13 € quickly deterred me from ordering one -- mind you, I'm used to the already ridiculously high drink prices in Munich. I'd be happy to pay this much for a more special dish (and drink), but in this case I was disappointed by the value for money.

We visited with two small kids which has likely contributed to the experience. We've got forgotten after seated, and only got Menüs when we've asked. The food was ok, but definitely with a bit of a markup added for the location and views. Unless your goal is to post perfect pictures on socials try other places.

Beautiful setting, but the food is terrible. I didn't expect that carbonara can be so bad and greasy. Someone in our party asked for a ling espresso and it was with added water/not hot so we weren't happy with the food

After a lovely visit to Isola Madre I saw the sign for restaurant and bar and decided to have my usual Aperol Spritz before the ferry. I was rudely told the bar is closed by a waiter. When I asked what time it opened he said 4pm,then said I could have a drink inside,then grudgingly let me sit outside saying the tables were needed for diners who were nowhere to be seen.The restaurant was completely empty and there was only one couple dining outside. I had been considering eating there and getting a later ferry but no way after this reception. If you own this restaurant this staff member is ruining your business,I note previous reviews similar to this.I went on to Pallanza and had a delightful lunch with excellent service which has been the norm everywhere until today.

We have been going to this place for over 20 years. Enjoyed it always, until today. The restaurant is under new management and I am sorry to say it is truly dreadful. Food is mediocre, service below par as is the menu. We chose a white wine from the list only to hear they had only 1 type of wine. Starter was Parmigiana and that was ‘ok’ but the main dish (Milanese) was simply tastless and dry. When we asked for some mayo to make the dry meat a little more palatebel, they told us they didn’t have any mayo, nor a peice of lemon that we asked for. We gave the meat back. Then the waiter told us he wouldn’t charge for it but the ‘chef’ disagreed.
