Paolo recommended this Osteria to us for a taste of traditional Cremonese cuisine. It was a fantastic experience, a true osteria, just like it used to be. The Marubini pasta in broth was excellent, as was the boiled meat with mustard. Friendly service and excellent value. Highly recommended!

Today, a trip to Cremona to buy some salami and marubini to eat next Sunday, since it's going to be freezing cold. But I digress, lucky day because we stumbled upon Osteria Il Foppone, where we found good food. We skipped the first course and immediately ordered two second courses (stew and peas with polenta and grilled fillet steak) + two side dishes (caponata [excellent] and baked potatoes) with half a liter of house white wine and half a liter of water. If we'd been hungry again, I would have ordered more. We didn't need to, because everything was very good and plentiful. Two coffees with sambuca and a slice of dessert were just a treat we shared. My only criticism, but one I absolutely recommend, is to ask the customer how they'd like their meat cooked when ordering it. The fillet steak was way underdone, so we ended up having to swap second courses between my wife and I because she doesn't eat undercooked meat. Absolutely competitive prices. I highly recommend anyone visiting Cremona to stop by this osteria because you won't be disappointed.

We went for lunch on a Sunday. It's a lovely place, just like an osteria, with simple, quaint decor. I recommend the soundproofing, as it can get a bit noisy when it's busy. We were served by the lady—I think she's the owner—who was very kind and approachable. The dishes were very good, excellent home-style cooking, and good value.

A quiet place very close to the center, serving local food. Easy to find, welcoming, retro, but not chaotic. The restrooms are basic but clean. Service is provided by a small, very active woman. The place is clean and trattoria-like. The menu isn't overly extensive, but the dishes are simple and good. Coffee isn't their strong point.

Xaira and I arrive without reservations, searching as usual in a city to discover: Cremona, beautiful and scientific with its Torrazzo, the tallest clock tower in Europe at 112 meters! We are bounced by the friendly manager of the Osteria degli Archi, completely full, and we wander hand in hand (that's how I would wander anywhere) through the cobbled streets of the center, until I smell excellent aromas: we turn the corner and, a little hidden downhill, there is the Osteria Il Foppone! And we immediately enter with a good feeling. First of all: it is a real OSTERIA, both in terms of prices and the dishes offered, abundant and home-made: Cremonese cuisine with excellent raw materials. Let's start with the Culaccia with liver pie (10€): an exquisite cold cut that melts in your mouth, somewhere between raw ham and pork loin, accompanied by a whole terrine of homemade paté, where the sweet and deep note of cognac pleasantly dominates: swoon, autumnal abandon! Next up are the mixed cold cuts with giardiniera (which Xaira can't finish given the quantity): they too are excellent, especially the salami. Let's move on to the first courses (8€ both): Ceppe al cinghiale, a sort of short and thick tagliatelle maltagliate, homemade and with a delicate flavour, with good wild boar ragù, which perhaps would need a little more juicy sauce (tomato); excellent pumpkin tortelli with melted butter, with a flat edge embellished with fragments of amaretti. (The amaretto is also a leitmotif of the day because, coming by car, at a certain point I say I'm hungry I feel like... what kind of thing? Xaira asks me and I say but like a donut or a dessert... at which point she takes out from her mini backpack where practically anything fits a prized amaretto from the Piedmontese Langhe, and sticks it between my lips for my great satisfaction...) Already full, unfortunately we don't order the second courses (I would have really liked to try the boiled meat with green sauce and Cremonese mustard but the waitress, kind and friendly, told us that unfortunately it was sold out: probably a sign of its high quality, je pens...) but we move on to the desserts (5€): chestnut semifreddo and homemade tiramisu, both very good. The chestnut flavor of the semifreddo is not too gnucco and goes down really well. For those who wander around Cremona wanting to feel good, the Foppone is absolutely recommended! / Daniele Corradi

Wandering through the city streets, we came across this Osteria, which took us back in time. The place is decidedly timeless, but that's certainly one of its unique features! The dishes, typical of the area, were quite pleasant and in line with expectations, with appropriate wines recommended by the owner. The wait was a little long, but considering it was packed and we weren't in a hurry, it didn't bother us too much. During the wait, we had a chance to chat with the owner, who was kind and helpful. The prices were slightly lower than average, but in line with the overall experience. Overall, we recommend it!

Locale senplice,ma ordinato e pulito. Salumi di qualità (salame ottimo) buona la giardiniera.Consigliati sia i primi che i secondi. Da provare! Trattoria vicino al centro di Cremona

Speso 38 euro a testa per un menù normale ,vino della casa, tovagliette di carta, troppo veramente troppo non ci torneremo più

From an osteria in the center of Cremona, you'd expect something more. I ordered an aperitivo, and it was served without appetizers, straws, or napkins. The only cramped restroom, for both men and women, is not accessible to the disabled. The soap dispenser is empty, the waste bin for used wipes is still full from the day before, and the cleanliness is questionable. The owner is unwelcoming and serves tables shirtless. I don't think I'll return. I didn't give it a single star because I don't know the quality of the restaurant service, but I don't think I'll ever find out.

If I could put 0 stars, I would’ve done it. We waited 30 minutes to have our table and 1h15 to get our food (for some of us only, others waited 1h45). Make sure to ask what is in the meal because they change the ingredients without writing it down and they won’t hesitate to throw the plate at you. 12€ to have 6 tortelli in your plate is a literal scam, how is it possible to still be hungry after eating? Thank God there was some bread. I hope you like to refrain because you don’t want to visit the restroom. The restaurant’s scent was what the owner was doing: smoke. His favourite activity was to mix the remaining wines in one bottle and drinking cocktails instead of doing the service he’s supposed to provide. By the way, make sure you know how to count because they don’t. The service was mediocre, with a (big) hint of rudeness just to top it off. We honestly thought it was prank from beginning to end.
