We stopped by here, half thinking that there was some kind of scheme as to why they get so many good reviews and I really just was looking to try it to see what the scheme was, however, after the amazing customer service and licking the plate clean because the food was so good; I’ve determined that the reason why they have such high reviews is because they are just that delicious and that genuine with wanting to please. I highly recommend because of their service and because of the quality of food and their obvious dedication to the customer experiences. I look forward to going back next time I come through Waco. I hope that the sour sop seeds work out for them.

This was our first time to eat Jamaican food and it did not disappoint! My husband and I were in town on business and stopped in this place. I’m so glad we did! We both got the jerk chicken. It was delicious! My husband said he could eat a bucket full of the plantains! Ha! The fresh coconut water is a must! The staff was amazing and the owner spoke to us at length about his origins and other topics throughout our meal. We learned that the owner’s mother is the head chef! What a marvelous story! We really enjoy anytime we go to a restaurant and get to meet and speak with the owner personally. This time was better than anytime before when this has happened for us! When we returned to our hotel, the desk clerk asked, “what smells so good”? It was my leftovers! I was overjoyed that I was able to advertise for this place right away!

I am in Waco for work and wanted to try something new, so when I saw a Jamaican place I was super excited since I’ve never eaten it before. I’m really happy I stopped in here, the food is great and the people working here are very nice! I got the oxtail entrée that comes w plantains, veggie, and the coconut rice and beans, and I got my meal extra spicy. The oxtail is fall off the bone and everything has so many great spices, the flavor is great! The guy at the front was also really nice, since after I paid he found out that they were still making the rum cake, so I got the rum pudding instead and he threw in a slice of the carrot cake, both of which are awesome as well!

Tru Jamaica Restaurant is hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Waco. The owner is very present at the restaurant and goes above and beyond to ensure an amazing experience. The food is reasonably priced especially given the fact that good authentic Jamaican food is hard to come by. I got the jerk chicken plate and the flavor was beyond delightful. I got the carrot cake for desert “to go” and that to go box didn’t make it out of the restaurant once I took a bite. I highly recommend bringing all your family and friends to eat here! You cannot beat the food, flavor, and genuine hospitality that’s provided at Tru Jamaica Restaurant.

TruJamaica is one of my favorite restaurants in Waco and whenever friends or family come to visit, it’s where I bring them. The food is always amazing and they have so many allergy-friendly and vegetarian options so I don’t have to worry about making sure everyone will be able to eat here. I love the goat and oxtails but everything on the menu is amazing so I like to switch it up. I just always make sure to get a fresh juice and plantains no matter what!

I had the pleasure of dining at Tru Jamaica, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. I ordered the oxtails, and they were absolutely incredible — tender, fall-off-the-bone, and packed with rich, authentic Jamaican flavor. The gravy was perfectly seasoned and paired so well with the side dishes. You can tell the food is cooked with care and tradition. Every bite tasted homemade and full of bold island spices. The portions were generous, and the overall experience left me completely satisfied. If you’re craving real Jamaican comfort food consider, Tru Jamaica. I promise you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be returning soon.

This place not only has amazing food, but amazing service! The owner was really welcoming and attentive. If you dine-in you get free refills of the rice. He also lets you sample the food. I highly recommend. Also, the fresh pineapple and ginger drink is AMAZING.

Absolutely incredible. This locally owned Jamaican gem blew me away! The flavors are bold, fresh, and made with real love. The jerk chicken was perfect, the sides were seasoned just right. The whole place has that warm, home-cooked vibe. I very much recommend

Love everything about this place! Aniceto and his team always deliver a welcoming experience and delicious Jamaican cuisine. This should be on your list when you visit Waco! If you’re local, this should be in your normal rotation of small businesses to show love to. #JAMROCK 🇯🇲

We stopped on a road trip to eat something different than the usual chains. This place had great reviews, and it loved up to them! The decor is comfortable with an island flair. Bathrooms were very clean and smelled good. The friendly owner greeted us and patiently went over the menu. We shared patties to start and then had jerk chicken, jerk fries, and jerk chicken breast. Everything was made fresh and flavorful! The meals came with delicious vegetables, rice with beans, and plantains. We shared the homemade fresh sorrel-ginger and pineapple-ginger drinks which were outstanding!! We also enjoyed some of the bottled Jamaican sodas, especially the green Ting. Overall, we loved all of it, and we will definitely be back to enjoy this gem!

Stopped by this beautiful place for a quick bite on our drive from Dallas to Austin, and we are so glad we did! This place is clean, spacious, well maintained and serves up some delicious, authentic Jamaican food. We ordered the Curried chicken and Curried beef patties along with some fried plantains and then some Black cake for dessert. Absolutely loved the patties - they were straight out of the oven, hot and fresh and bursting with flavor. The owner recommended the black cake - a holiday style cake with fruits and rum, and a rich flavor. Friendly owner, great food and clean, pleasant ambiance. Definitely visit this little gem and enjoy the food!

Food was absolutely delicious!! Hands down one of the best restaurants in Waco in terms of food and service.🤩 We got the curry chicken and curry goat and both were amazing. As amazing as the food was, the service was just as wonderful. I have a food allergy and the owner took the time to speak to us and make sure everything was exactly as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience. We felt very welcomed and we appreciated the personal care and hospitality. Highly recommend! 10/10!

Amazing! Food is delicious. Everything we ordered from the oxtail to the curry to the patties to the carrot cake, really hit the spot. Great vibe. Very comfortable dining space. Staff makes you feel like family. Such a cool spot. We will be returning for sure, next time I will get pictures for yall, I was too busy to enjoying my meal to stop to document it. If you don't come, you will regret it. If you're reading while passing through Waco this is your sign to stop and give them a try. If you are a local I am surprised you're not at the restaurant already giving them your love. :]

The food was great, full of flavor, well seasoned, in generous portions. There were even vegetarian options. The food was fresh and the atmosphere was inviting. Service was great and the owner checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. I will definitely be coming back! I love having good, diverse options in Waco.

Friendly faces, great service and amazing food. We found this place back in 2020 during our Waco visit (from Houston) and have been back here every time when we pass Waco (there’s a long “break” due to a fire and then the food truck during the renovation). Very excited to see the re-opened/renovated restaurant (since early November). The chicken and beef patties are tasty, oxtail is my favorite, loves the jerk chicken and the curry goat is amazing. Strongly recommend this place to anyone who craves for Caribbean cuisine ^^

I have not had much Jamaican food in my life, but thanks to the friendly owner and his recommendations. This may have been one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area!

The mouthwatering aroma coming from the kitchen tells you you're in the right place. Tables packed with college students and GI's left plates of jerk beef, chicken, goat and shrimp scraped clean. We shared Rasta Pasta and veggie patties like buttery potpies. After an initial opening in 2019, they suffered a fire and at the time of this review, had only just reopened. The atmosphere is fun and casual, the family that own and run the joint are super personable, but come on, the food is the star. This is the kind of place you'll feel smug about turning other people onto. Can't recommend enough.

This is seriously the best Jamaican food I have ever had. Worth the drive from DFW to here. The service is friendly and personable. The manager is so kind and thoughtful and the food is out of this world. We had the jerk chicken and the redfish. Everything on the plate was delicious! Not even one thing to critique! Also the building is surprisingly beautifully decorated. A great place for any occasion, an affordable date, or just to grab a bite. I would 100% recommend to anyone!

This spot is a true gem! Authentic Jamaican restaurant with great customer service. The vibe is laid back and the restaurant is very clean. I ordered the curry chicken which came with rice and plantains. I also orderd a slice of cake. The Hibscus tea with ginger drink is amazing, I'd stop in just for that drink! Spiciness of the food is just right and they give really good portions at a decent price. Would definitely eat here again.

We’ve had a lot of Jamaican food before, especially from New York, but this place is truly good and authentic. The beef patty was amazing - I even had to order another one after finishing my dinner! Great prices and real homemade flavor. Highly recommend it!

In town visiting for the weekend from San Antonio, and this place was incredible! Did a to-go order with my daughter where we were met with such wonderful hospitality and I love when they opened the box to show me the Jerk Chicken - instantly knew my husband was going to love it (which he did!). We ate our food down by the river & the kids loved the plantains! Highly recommend this place!

They're open again! Honestly some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. The owner is super chill, very happy to share his culinary love and it shows. I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. We had the jerk chicken and the rasta pasta. Highly recommend both. Here's to many more years of good food.

Walked in, was immediately greeted and sat down. They were just opening back up from a fire that had happened. They went over the menu with me. I had the meat pie, which I did not take a picture of and also the jerk chicken excellent flavor portion size was nice. I will be back to try some of the other items in the future, so if you’re in Waco a little off the beaten path, but it’s well worth looking up And stopping to have a meal.

I had an opportunity to meet the owner and her son. They are both so kind and truly have a servants heart. Her son consistently checked on everyone in the restaurant to make sure we had everything we needed. The food is delicious! I had the goat which was very flavorful, spicy and fresh. The next time I visit Waco, I will definitely go back to try more amazing dishes!

Quite the hidden gem of Waco if you want to try authentic Jamaican food. I happened to pass by the city and stopped to order lunch because I noticed so many wonderful reviews of the place. I got the classic jerk chicken from the food truck. It was nicely seasoned and tender. The owner was super friendly and treated me very well. He offered to show me inside the restaurant which was being renovated after a fire accident which seems cozy and ideal for a meal. I’ll definitely revisit the place if I have the chance. 10/10 recommend!

The food was fantastic. High quality home cooking. The best was the Jamaican jerk chicken. Super juicy with a nice kick. Oxtails were amazing as well. Didn’t think I’d enjoy the coconut rice, but it was sooo good. Everyone was very kind and helpful. Will definitely be back.

We are not very well versed in Jamaican food, we’ve had it before but definitely not experts in it. When we told the owner about this while ordering, he let us sample the oxtail as we’ve never had it. The food is fresh and filling. But I would say the best thing by far is the service. Granted we came at slower time but the owner really catered to us and made us feel welcomed. They recently had a fire so they’re kind of in a reconstruction period but they still serve great food out of their temporary food truck kitchen.

Entire experience was amazing. Beef patty and jerk chicken were so good. Jerk sauce with a bbq flair. Tried a piece of the jerk shrimp and that was delicious as well. Owner was so friendly and welcoming. Overall just fantastic. Want to come back and try more of the menu next time I'm coming through Waco.

Amazing authentic Jamaican food. Highly recommend if you're passing through the Waco area looking for something new to try. The curry chicken was very flavorful. The oxtail was tender and saucy. The fried fish was cooked perfectly and delicious. They are very generous with the portions, and are very quick with getting the food out to you.
