Now I've seen griddle cakes on a menu before, and they usually come out like a pancake. THESE are DIFFERENT. Oat griddle cakes, with the most natural sweetness. Absolutely no need for syrup. Imagine a perfect blend of flavors and textures between a pancake, crepe, and french toast combined. Some crispiness, sweet, a pop of texture from fruit or chocolate. Just ah! So good, and hard to describe that you truly have to go enjoy them for yourselves. My boyfriend brings EVERYONE to this spot that is visiting, or that he newly meets, or just to enjoy alone. He even picked up a friend visiting in Anaheim to bring them here, it's THAT good. And I vouch for it. My favorite is the blueberry flavor, with crunchy oat granola topping and powdered sugar. Side of flipped eggs for more protein and a glass of OJ or bottled cold brew. An order usually comes with 3, but you have the option to order a single. Other options available are pink lady apple, banana nut (boyfriend's fave), chocolate chip, and original. Luckily I've never gone when it's too busy, but I hear the line can go out the door. Go early enough on the weekends, but I'd imagine the weekdays aren't too bad.
I do not know what the hell the low reviews are. Ridiculous to disparage a restaurant in LA for their parking situation. Anyway. The food was amazing. Oat cakes and soft scramble. While admittedly the scramble could have been a bit more runny I truly enjoyed every single bite of this meal. The cakes were absolutely delightful. The service was delightful. The restaurant is delightful. Read no further and trust no negative review. I will be slowly working my way through this menu over the next several months.
Chocolate chip oatmeal griddle cakes. You won’t even need syrup - trust me. Try them with a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice. Waiting time is excellent and street parking isn’t a problem. Pay at the counter then choose your seat. Definitely will return and show this place to more friends as it’s in a pretty walkable part of town.
Best pancakes I’ve ever had. We came with a group so we tried 1 of everything! My favorite was the og pancake and the banana pancake. The og was sweet and had hints of cinnamon and peanut butter. The banana was the best banana pancake I have ever had. The pancakes don’t feel heavy and you don’t leave feeling super full which I loved. We also ordered the sausage and it was cooked so amazing, they made it crispy and golden, absolutely love. The avocado was so simple but nice in between bites of the pancakes. My mom ordered gluten free pancakes and they were also amazing. We honestly couldn’t even tell the difference between regular and gluten free and that’s what we want in gluten free options. Can’t wait to come back!
Their pancake is unique. It is not the usual thick and fluffy kind. It is somewhere between a pancake and crepe for me. It is so soft and delicious. Since it is a open kitchen, you will smell like breakfast food, but that is a good thing here. It is one of those places that you just come without thinking much when you want to have some good breakfast that your local diner doesn’t have. The menus is very simple. Pancakes, eggs, sausages and some sides. That’s all, but I never want anything more than their pancakes (banana nut!!), sausage patties, and egg. It is the best breakfast place for me!
Big fan of this spot! The pancakes are really incredible — very thin tasty cakes served with butter and powdered sugar. The sides are a little pricy for what they are, but all in all one of the more affordable breakfast/brunch spots in the area. You can use their sides menu to “build your own” entree — some combination of a stack of (or single) cakes, eggs, toast, potatoes, etc. You order at the counter and wait for your food to come up, which for us was pretty quick. Will definitely be by again!
Sometimes the best restaurants are those that do just one thing exceedingly well. In this case, Breakfast by Salt’s Cure makes these pancake like items called “griddle cakes” insanely well. They are super simple and flavorful enough you don’t need syrup or anything other than the butter on top. Sides are super basic and drinks are very limited so be prepared. But really, it’s worth it just for the griddle cakes! We tried the OG cinnamon sugar and the pink lady apple. I could have eaten 20 of each they were so good!
Came here hungry for brunch and curious about their griddle cakes. I got a breakfast sandwich, which was fine but nothing particularly special, and a single griddle cake, which was really cool. If I had it to do over again I'd just get an order of griddle cakes. They are thin in some areas, with oats to add some chewiness which leads to this wild mix of textures that I thought was really neat. So, basically, stick with their specialty! Guys working the counter and the griddle were quick and friendly.
Wonderfully helpful staff with great suggestions and quick service. Griddle cakes were fantastic as they were thin, yet substantial, and somewhat toothy in a way that pancakes seldom are. The hot sauce, eggs, sausage and avocado we ordered were all just as we would have hoped and reasonably priced for elemental food of such quality. Last thing I enjoyed was the lack of an obscene line or wait that LA weekends can be known for. Will certainly return next time I have the chance.
Delicious, easy, and less than $30 a person for a solid breakfast (the way it should be!). The oat pancakes are my favorite.
First time here and really liked their simplified menu. I loved the avocado toast and enjoyed the citrus salad. The salad was very grapefruity though so if this is not your jam ask to have just the oranges on top. The dressing was light and nice. Quick food service and good vibe overall.
Love this local spot. It’s small, first come first serve for finding a spot to sit. We went at 11am on a Sunday and sat immediately- I actually didn’t see anyone have to wait for a table the entire time I was there. We got the banana nut griddle cakes which were DELICIOUS! Next time I need the peach ones. Also got the pork breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and a breakfast sandwich. All of it was so yum. Little diner vibe :)
Our go-to brunch! Seriously the best in WeHo, and possibly all of East LA. Extremely fair prices(four of us ate for $71), really friendly service, delicious food, and comfortable seating. Always a good time when I come here.
The best pancakes you'll ever have, HANDS DOWN!!! and am not even a pancake person. No need for syrup so don't embarrass yourself by asking for it. It's already added to the dish. Their turkey patties are also delicious, something about their texture just gets me. Expect a wait during weekends, remember to order first then look for a table. A real culinary experience!
Really good pancakes that were full of fresh fruit and flavor. You order and then take your number to an open table. Their food is fresh, well presented, and has great texture. The pancakes didn't come with syrup, but it wasn't needed. The butter, toppings, powdered sugar and fruit made them moist and sweet enough. Will definitely eat here again.
OG Oatmeal Griddle Cakes / 5 🌟! Pork Sausage / 5 🌟! Over Easy Eggs / 5 🌟! The word on the street I had heard before visiting Breakfast By Salt's Cure was that they had amazing pancakes, so when I stopped recently, that was what I had to try. The internet community is right. They are awesome. I think it's fairly rare to have oats based pancakes, or if it isn't rare, I never notice them on menus. They have great texture, flavor, and are definitely worth trying out. I had the OG, but the menu includes some fun, flavor combinations if you want to liven up your oatcakes. I wanted to have a breakfast platter kind of meal, so I also tried out their pork sausage and eggs. Everything came out hot, fresh, full of flavor, and not too long after I ordered from their counter register. They have a cozy dining space and are quite busy during their breakfast brunch hours. I would recommend street parking, which was easy to find.
I’ve been dreaming of these since I first got them a few months ago, and today I was back in town and B-lined it over here. The OG griddle cakes make me cry they are so good. The eggs and arugula are fresh, simply prepared, and delicious. I want the cooks here to have everything good in life.
Breakfast by Salts Cure is another staple breakfast cafe on the corner of Santa Monica and Vista! It’s much more quiet away from the bustle of West Hollywood streets. Parking is side parking and paid for so far that I’ve noticed. There is neighboring business as well. Staff is friendly and welcoming the cafe is beautiful and quaint inside with only two tables dining outside. Staff was also knowledgeable and sold us on the well know oatmeal griddle cakes aka pancakes which were very delicious made out of complete oats. Coffee was good as is, and the sides we’re not as many but good choices. Definitely want to come back and try other things!
A really cute establishment with a bit of heritage brickwork, vintage feel and modern approach to things. Specialising in oatmeal griddle cakes that are crispy and gooey at the same time. We had the banana nut which had ripe banana in the mix with walnuts. Lots of sides are available like eggs, sausage and potato too. We also ordered their chilaquiles which were crunchy and delicious. Lovely friendly service.
Today I tried Breakfast By Salt Cure OG Griddle Cake and it is really delicious!! My mom got the Breakfasts Sandwich and Grilled Potatoes. I also have the Arugula Salad and it is good. When I saw on YouTube show called BuzzFeed Worth It. And when 2 guys tried the OG Griddle Cake, it made me want to try the OG Griddle Cake and it was Worth It!! So this is the best pancakes I ever have!! And you don’t need syrup for OG Griddle Cake!!
These wheat-free oat pancakes got me raving! Silky on the bottom, topped with toasted flax seeds and oats, sweet enough, these create a multitude of sensations while you try hard not to devour these in one bite. Additionally, I got eggs, arugula salad, and potatoes which all tasted great and amounted to a healthy breakfast. Organic assam tea is flavorful, they also offer chamomile and green. Outdoor seating is a plus. I’ll definitely be back.
Delicious! It was my first time. I was walking around waiting for the car cleaners and found this cute breakfast place. They were 20 mins away from closing but still they served me. The server was very kind and guided me since I told her it was my first time there. I got a salad with two eggs and chicken patties. Oh! And fresh orange juice.(All pictures taken with Pixel 3 XL)

Had a lovely time. Everyone working Saturday 12/14 was lovely. Food was tasteful and high quality. Great vibe

We live in London but come to LA regularly for my husbands job. We always try to do at least 3 visits to Salts Cure. The griddle cakes are out of this world, the staff are truly wonderful and so friendly, they always make a big effort with our toddler who is a huge fan of the griddle cakes too. We always buy packets to bring home (it also makes such a good gift!) We can’t wait to be reunited with our favourite breakfast spot really soon!
Really needed this breakfast to cure our gnarly jet lag. Sure did the trick. We came in early Saturday and had no trouble ordering and finding a spot. Couldn't get a table but the benches were comfy enough. I loved my griddle cakes!! I had blueberry oats and it was so filling and delicious. I had to try the picnic ham. I was disappointed when it turned out to be more of a pork chop....but it was a very good one, so I got over it. Orange juice was a welcome addition, though I was left wanting more with our coffee. Thankfully, they offer plentiful blue water bottles to quench ye thirst. Overall, pretty great, and I'm not even a big breakfast person. But if someone asks me where to go for a good, satisfying, adult breakfast...this would be at the top.
A delightful fast-casual breakfast experience that is best described as scrumptious and wallet friendly at this charming spot. This breakfast adventure entails delicious oatmeal griddle cakes that left my belly full of contentment and my mind eagerly plotting my next return. Fluffy goodness with a touch of crispy edges, served as a stack of three with syrupy sweetness. I opted for the classic OG and chocolate chip. The OG is crowned with cinnamon molasses butter, an alliance that's bound to win your affection, while the chocolate chip houses the richness of chocolate with the comfort of familiar flavors. The chicken sausage was succulent, boasting tenderness and a medley of spices as a satisfying counterpoint to the sweetness of the griddle cakes. The option of vegan and gluten-free alternatives do not compromise taste, a testament to their mastery of the griddle. These griddlecakes are here to whisk you away and leave you smiling from ear to ear, a heartfelt ode to the definition of morning sustenance.
Everything tasted great and staff were super welcoming. Outdoor seating is limited to two tables since there unfortunately isn't much space for more. Portions are lighter than what you might usually expect for a breakfast at this price, but I'd still recommend trying at least once. Your taste buds will definitely be satisfied.
Breakfast outpost of Salt’s Cure known for its griddlecakes (pancakes). Came here to grab a (very) late breakfast with a couple of friends. You order at the counter, receive a number, and then pick a table. You also need to show your vaccination card (a screenshot works) at the counter before you order. Credit cards are accepted. The chocolate griddlecake was my favorite - very chocolatey and warm without being overly sweet. I got a breakfast sandwich (you have a choice of pork or vegan sausage), which provides some savoriness to counteract the sweetness). The apple cinnamon griddlecakes were decent, and have large apple chunks mixed into the batter. They provide water jugs at the table for you to refill your glasses.
Overall a very tasty brunch, but it’s important to know a few things before going. As mentioned the food is very good flavor wise and the location itself is prime. They don’t have a parking lot so it will be street parking only, but luckily the streets perpendicular to it have a lot of available spaces and did so for our Sunday morning brunch. I also like the fact that you order at the counter and then they bring the food over to you. Makes it nice after you finish your meal than you can immediately head out. There are a few downsides to note. As many other reviews mention the service speed is extremely slow because they only have 2 cooks and a small griddle. It will take quite awhile for your food to arrive so this is not the sort of place to go when you have time commitments after. Also the menu is fairly small and doesn’t have any complex dishes like Eggs Benedict so pancakes or breakfast sandwiches will be your options. The size of the items is also a bit small compared to a lot of other breakfast places so I wouldn’t choose this location if I wanted a large of extra filling meal. Finally the restaurant itself is very crowded. The tables are very close together and when busy you have two squeeze between the those sitting at the counter and those sitting at the half booths. Inside spots may not be available depending on the time due to the limited amount of seating options. For our meal we chose the OG Pancakes, Pork Sausage side, and the Breakfast Sandwich. The pancakes are griddle style thin pancakes and aren’t very big or fluffy size wise, but they give you a stack of three. The OG is very tasty, but also very sweet so you must be in the mood for the sweetness. The sausage was very good and came in the form of a patty. The Sandwich was flavorful, but a bit small in size and would be even better if avocado was added. Overall a really nice breakfast or brunch option albeit with limited menu options and a claustrophobic indoor dining area. I would recommend, but with some minor reservations.
I think this place is cute and the portions are filling despite the size they look. They have nice seasonal combos/let you mix banana and chocolate as a combo and the pancakes are gluten free. I think the sides are rather overpriced as they price them all the same which is not really sensible 2 eggs being $5 does not make sense and the tea selection is truly lacking if you’re not a coffee drinker. They don’t even have a black tea… and I’d literally never heard of the green tea they have. The service is friendly and fast, so overall I would come by again.
Causal breakfast place. Very small menu, 5 flavors for oatmeal pancakes and a couple of sides (eggs, sausage, salad). The pancakes are amazing, very thin and flavorful. Served with sugar and flavored butter. My favorite was the chocolate chip and the OG, the cinnamon butter did the trick. Coffee is self serve. There is no bacon or syrup which was a let down for me. Staff is friendly.
Tried the OG and the pork sausage. Have to spread the Cinnamon butter on the pancake with every bite or else it's just taste very flourly. Taste very good with everything together even without syrup. Sausage is a tad too salty for me. Overall, I would like to try the other flavors and will definitely come back!
Let’s get right to the important stuff...The OG Oatmeal Griddle Cakes are the item to try here. Fresh off the griddle the texture is a smooth blend between griddle cake and the oatmeal. As you eat through them, the mixtures settles and they become even more yummier. More of an dine-in than to-go breakfast place, the small venue can get packed, but seating for 2-5 didn’t seem to much of a challenge or a long wait. It did seem like they were cooking food in batch orders, truly made to order, because they was a brief period where the cooks were chilling while they were waiting on one item from the previous order to be finished, but their system works for them, we didn’t have to wait long for our food at all.
The OG pancakes are amazing, the molasses butter is the difference maker here. The pork sausage is also incredible…clearly house made and some good seasoning in the mix. YOU DON’T NEED SYRUP FOR THESE PANCAKES. We came late morning on a weekday…service was quick and it wasn’t busy. I imagine that it’s a very different situation on weekends and peak times. Be prepared to wait during busy periods. Dropped one star because $4 coffee was a put off…especially when it was mass produced, diner level coffee.

I can't give 5 stars for the following Food quality = meh, I can make it at home. Nothing extraordinary about it. The serving was small. Parking = no parking on site as I can't find one ( I think) Price/ overall value= serving size was small. I can't believe I paid about $50 for a simple breakfast. Its good. But not worth the price.
Great food. In walking distance to my house. They are very popular so I wanted to try. Tad bit pricey to me. $22 for 3 pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs and 2 chicken sausage, no drink. All meals served via a la carte. I ended up buying iced coffee from Madison & Park next door while I waited for my food. I would have liked some syrup with my pancakes but the waiter says they don't have syrup which I thought was so weird for a pancake cafe.

Contrary to most of these reviews, I respectfully disagree that these pancakes do not need syrup especially if choosing chocolate chip or plain. Coming from the maple syrup central NH/VT, eating pancakes without syrup is disappointing. My pancakes were completely raw and it felt like I was eating mush. The service is half table service, half serve yourself which is a bit confusing as you are served a cup of coffee but then have to guess that you need to get your own cream/sugar. Payment screen also suggesting tip amounts that would be expected at a full service restaurant which doesn’t make sense based off of this experience.
I really don't get the so called 'hype' about this place. Service is slow, atmosphere no different to Starbucks and the food is really not all that special at all. The griddled cakes were the only saving grace which I would give a strong 4 stars for. The eggs were average at best, the potatoes were undercooked and hard and coffee mediocre. All those waxing lyrical about it being so good need to eat out more. Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO (unless I want griddle cakes) Was it good value? NO Price point: $$

Good customer service, the host/cashier was very friendly. The food was good, unfortunately I got food poisoning from the chicken sausage, it was extremely salty, I couldn’t even finish it. A few hours later I started feeling the effects, spent 24+ hours extremely sick after. It’s a shame because the oatmeal griddle cakes are delicious, however I would never eat here again.
RAW CHICKEN. Came here for the first time today and ordered the chicken sausage breakfast sandwich. The chicken sausage was not cooked properly. When brought to the attention of the host, she said “everyone is saying that today but we use really soft chicken”. Whatever that means. All I know is I can tell when chicken isn’t cooked. And now I’m concerned I’m going to get food poisoning.
This place is not great. Overpriced food and there is no space to sit anywhere. Wait staff will not help this in any way shape of form. People working there completely forgot about my food. There is no space to walk. I had to sit by the bathroom on a high top facing the wall. They have one vegan option in la. I waited legitimately 39 min for 15 dollars sandwich. And it was supper small. Will not be coming back. Don't waste your time.
WARNING! This place is extremely slow. Waiting up to 30 minutes to get sub par food. I’m astonished at how long this place takes for such a basic menu. I feel bad for the two cooks who are working their butts off to feed the place but doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s taken way too long.
