Stopped by for breakfast and got a nicer experience than expected. This place is a gift shop, Bar, liquor store & restaurant, deli, & memorabilia shop all wrapped up into one thing. The breakfast i had was delicious the hand made drop biscuits and gravy were hearty and buttery. My GF got the chorizo burrito and it's very good but not spicy enough for my taste. I was expecting a rest stop but got a lot more than that forsure. The staff was extremely nice.
That famous in the know stop for travels up and down HWY 5. Serving amazing deli sandwiches in their country store, with the super bird and meatball sandwich being top choices. There is a sit down restaurant, a western bar in the back, and even a hotel now. Whenever we are in the area traveling up and down 5 or to and from clearlake, its our must stop. A interesting note is the location burned down and had to be rebuilt. From the ashes the store, restaurant, and bar has grown bigger. They were even featured on triple D.
What makes Granzella’s shine is the holistic traveler experience. Where else can you grab a fantastic tri-tip sandwich, wander through a hunting museum, browse an enormous selection of unique sodas and regional wines, and check into a clean, convenient motel—all under one roof? The staff are always friendly and efficient, managing the high volume of road-trippers with practiced ease. Granzella’s is a California landmark. It’s clean, it’s convenient, and it delivers an experience that is far greater than the sum of its parts. Do yourself a favor and make this your new mandatory I-5 pit stop. You will not be disappointed!
Stopped on a whim. The place has so much! The food was nice - taco salad was a nice size and tasty. Carrot cake was great - moist and nice flavor. The staff were nice and very helpful.
Great restaurant while charging! Food was great, $50 for 2 people. Clean modern restroom. Gelato, coffee shop, sandwich shop, and diverse food selections. The atmosphere was very exotic, with stuffed animals (donated) but the music was a little loud.
Sad that the gift shop was closed but glad we stopped anyway cause that was probably the best meatball sandwich I've ever had. Pretty? No. Delicious? Yes. Bathroom was clean and the folks were friendly.
We stopped at this charming Italian restaurant in Williams during a road trip, and it turned out to be a great find! The best part is its convenient location right next to the Tesla Supercharger, making it a perfect pit stop if you’re traveling between Northern California and the Bay Area or even heading toward Southern California. While your car charges, you can easily grab a bite without wasting any time. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe with a small adjoining market and a gift shop next door. They even sell some nice Italian sauces and local goodies, which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the vegetarian pizza, and it was freshly made, with a crisp crust and flavorful toppings. The service was quick and friendly — I had my pizza ready just in time before the car finished charging. The staff was attentive, and the whole experience felt smooth and hassle-free. Overall, it’s a solid spot for a meal on the go. Good food, efficient service, and a super convenient location for EV travelers. Definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through!
Granzella's is a must stop! Right off the intersection of 5 and 20. Wonderful sandwiches, staff, and an amazing selection of high quality Italian goods, wines, candy, baked goods, seasonings/spices, fresh gelato(!), and their own canned foods (olives, garlic, deli mix, glazes, etc.). Plenty of parking and handicap accessible.
Chicken parm was delicious. Real mashed potatoes. The brown gravy was okay, kinda bland. The chicken Alfredo was very delicious also. (Had a sample from my moms plate) Chicken was tender but broccoli was a tad undercooked for the plate.
Loved it. They do have parking for commercial vehicles. Great food and huge selection from snack, restaurants dinning, quick sandwiches deli, and ice-cream. I'm planning on coming back.
It is a huge mall itself. There have several different store in this building. It is very easy to find from the tesla supercharger location.
Granzella’s is an awesome place to stop on i5 if you are traveling through Williams. They have amazing sandwiches and a very friendly and helpful staff. They also have cool gifts and different unique items for sale that you can’t find anywhere else!
Way more than what I expected. Great food, service and sundries. Excellent stop to get a bite and pick up supplies.
We had the Italian nachos and the crispy chicken sandwich. The nachos were delicious and unique! The pepperoni had a nice kick and the cheese Alfredo was a great flavor addition. It's on the appetizer menu, but it's enough for a meal for one person or to split between two people. The crispy chicken sandwich was really good and was probably the most crispy I've had. Good food, friendly service, and they were on top of filling our waters!
This is a great and consistent restaurant. Food feels like home cooking. Fresh peach pie is to die for! Hot turkey sandwich has thick slices of turkey with rich gravy. Sadly, I brought home a whole peach pie, and after driving 110 miles, found out it was mislabeled and actually apple pie. Still good but the peach pie is our favorite.
Such a fun little spot! 🤩 I didn’t understand the hype until I walked in—it instantly took me back to Texas and transported me to another time. 🏜️ The atmosphere was warm, with friendly faces and plenty to do. To the left, there’s a restaurant; to the right, a deli; and in the back, a bar-restaurant combo. 🍽️🍻 Plus, there are little shops to browse and even an ice cream station! 🍦 People were constantly coming and going, adding to the lively vibe. I ordered a sausage sandwich from the deli—was it worth $16? Not really. 😅 But overall, it was a charming little spot to check out!
I drive an 18-wheeler and noticed their advertising on some billboards. I decided to get off the interstate and give them a try. I'm so glad I did. This place was amazing. It's part restaurant, part sports bar, part deli counter, & part general store. I gave the restaurant a try and ordered the chicken alfredo with spaghetti instead of penne. From my side salad to the entree, the food was absolutely delicious. If you are traveling along I-5 roughly 40 miles north of Sacramento, this place is a must. 😋💖
1st time experience was amazing... service was great, food was great, the gift shop was awesome and we will definitely be coming back! Ty to the staff for being welcoming & friendly and for the take home PICKLES!!! AMAZING!!!!!!
Fun place off I 5. Visited Nov. 1st..see all my receipts. What a great stop in Williams! This place has everything..restaurant..huge deli..large full bar..gift shop and specialty items! The restaurant is at one end and the large bar area is at the other end. We decided to split the Rueben and it was hot and delicious! We brought it into the bar dining area and had it with a cocktail. I also bought some specialty cheeses and crackers ( see pic). Whats fun about this place is in the bar area, where they have all these huge stuffed animals on display with some offering some history on them. The olives and cheeses are unique and top notch and not too pricey! They also have a nice wine and beer selection. Indoor and outdoor seating. They also have their hotel next door. Don't pass this up...so much to see and great for the kiddos! They have mens and womens restrooms towards the back near the bar area. Fun fun fun,,,note they are usually pretty busy but we had great service!
Mini road trip going North and wanted to check this place out. It did not disappoint we huge variety of pickled options and really awesome Gelato.
My wife and I chose to meet her during the week for breakfast... She was in Vallejo, and I was in Chico. We decided to look around before we sat down, and we were amazed at the building and what was inside. Deli, alcohol, ice cream, and SO MANY types of condiments, oils, syrups, jarred fruits/vegetables, hot sauces/BBQ sauces, and wines. We made our purchases and then made our way into the restaurant. We ordered coffee, and then I got the full stack of pancakes with sausage patties while She got the French toast with a Spicy sausage link. When I say it was plenty of food, I'm being generous. It was too much to eat, so we took it to go. The service was excellant and quick, and our waitress didn't let us go more than 3 minutes between refills or additions like extra butter or syrup. THIS is a place we will frequent again regardless of time or place. You have to go here, shop and eat, and see if YOU don't feel the same way.
Been coming here for 40 years. The deli is Awesome and make sandwiches like they are supposed to be.
Just off the 5 freeway. Stopped for lunch and had a great half sandwich with a side of potato salad. Dine in or get something from the deli. They have restaurant seating or sit with all the trophy mounts in the back bar. Get your Gelato fix, stock up on all the great olives, craft beers, wine, candy, cookies and more!
The store, restaurant and gift shop gave my family and I a lot of options to choose from. We ate there and have some delicious ice cream 🍦. Costumer service was okay not the best, overall we enjoyed our visit.
Really great place to eat! We came in after 8pm so we sat in the bar. Reasonably priced. Good service. Salad was great and had home made croutons. Ribs were really good and tender. Good flavor. Shrimp Scami was great. Side of ravioli with pesto sauce was excellent. Bread was good too. Really great environment! Lots of exhibits for 📸!
The food is delicious!!! I've been coming here since the early 2000s. We would stop at the deli on road trips and restaurant on the way back. This was my hubs first time. He's Italian and picky about his sauce because his Nono. He loved it. The food is amazing. The place is very cool. Hotel, gift shop, deli, store and the bar is very cool. And don't be alarmed if in the parking lot someone says, "Hey, how are you guys doing tonight?" It happens every time! It's a local who lives in Williams. They're friendly. Sometimes, it's shocking! Our waitress was awesome!
Rustic, outdoors themed decor with many animals on display. We ordered nachos, they were huge and delicious, a reuben sandwich, and a club sandwich. They were both gigantic and super tasty! Really good selection of beer on tap. Love the whole place, sat at the bar and the bartender, Caitlin, very personable and helpful! Have to stop every time I drive by!
I’ve only eaten in the lounge for dinner, as the restaurant in front had closed for the evening. The small pesto vegetarian pizza was so loaded with ingredients, 2 of us couldn’t eat it all. This crispy crust. Service was fantastic: fast & attentive. Decor is endlessly interesting. Highly recommend and I will return.
We have been stopping at Grazilla's for their hot corned beef Ruben sandwich for almost 50 years. We are from Salem Oregon and I ran a deli/ bakery many years. I know fresh, quality food 👍 . Gary took our order today and was delightful. Thank you Gary and thank you Grazillas. We will be visiting again next time in California ❤️ The Phillips
There is a reason this place has been here this long. We didnt stop for the restaurant, just the deli. Next time we will stop for the actual restaurant. They have a large selection of pickled goods. Their sandwiches are a little pricey but they are great! Their sourdough is delicious and has a good chew. Cant wait to go back to try the actual restaurant.
Nice combination restaurant, food and merchandise area, with a lounge to the rear. Priced for tourist. A "locals" hang out. Had breakfast of pancakes and eggs. The pancakes are 12 inch plate size, 2 per serving. Tough to cut but edible. Coffee is good. Staff friendly.
Good place on the highway for taking some good food and rest. The place has multiple sections to have to go or sit down food and refreshments and a store to pick up some local produce. We had a leisurely sit-in lunch and the food was wholesome and fresh. The service quite efficient. On the way out, we picked up some of the store's ice cream and it was really delicious. The toilets were clean and there was ample free parking.
Beer flight was good and very reasonably priced. Lasagna was tasty! Good portion, kinda pricey.
The menu provides an excellent range of options that allows for many particular tastes and preferences. The French dip was fine, just not very flavorful. Potato salad was a hit. Teriyaki chicken was generous with the serving size if a little dry. Raviolis were enjoyed. After we ate we enjoyed a very generously sized gelato at the counter. Excellent! The store was great with lots of interesting choices. The deli also looked tantalizing. The bar relies on the same menu, but the atmosphere is unique as it is filled with taxidermy animals. A fun stop, especially if you need to charge your EV. 😊
Stopped in for lunch while on a road trip and got the Italian burger, clam chowder, and a loaf of sourdough to take home. I spent some time here working off the wifi as well. Very friendly staff, the place has two restaurant areas, a bakery/sandwich shop, and a general food store. The burger was well cooked and the flavor was very good. Clam chowder was tasty as well and the sourdough is better than your typical store bought loaf.
I was not at all impressed with the deli sandwiches we purchased. They were rather small for the price. I did, however, love the many items for sale. Yummy desserts and unique foods.
Update: they lost a star. It’s quite annoying when you order to go, then when about to eat discover that there’s NO eating utensils. This had happened twice already. It’s not only a restaurant, there’s a store with deli section. Nice place with lots of parking available. Tip: to go orders are placed at the front of the entrance and the sit down restaurant is at the back of the building. REMEMBER to ask for utensils and napkins or you won’t be given any.
The atmosphere here is amazing. There is so much to see! You could easily walk around the shop & not take everything in. We walked through the bar to sight see. We decided on having sandwiches from their awesome deli. The shop is full of olives, jams, sauces, and spices of many flavors of many varieties. I found the items priced at roadside tourism prices. Some items i could purchase in my local grocery store for much less. Still a great pit stop. I would recommend.
The Pesto Vegetarian combined my favorite sauce with lots of hearty vegetables. Minus the tomatoes of course. Service was timely and attentive. I would definitely eat here again.
I'll leave my other review from 3 years ago. This visit in Aug of 2024 was very disappointing. The place wasn't that busy, but it took at least 20 minutes before our order was taken. I ordered a taco salad. My wife ordered a chicken brucetta sandwich. It wasn't nearly as long waiting for the food as it was waiting for them to take the order. When the taco salad came it was the smallest taco shell by far, that I have ever had. It was $20. My wife's sandwich was ok, but too soggy with excess sauce. My taco shell was so greasy I couldn't eat it. I took pictures. Hopefully I can post them. Not sure we will return. I like the place and the atmosphere, but the food has gone downhill and smaller portions for higher cost. Our meal with two soft drinks: $51.64. That's pretty close to what we normally pay for dinner, but with much better quality.
Alittle pricey.. two sandwiches, a soda & a bag of chips was nearly $50 and we shared the to soda. Overall the atmosphere was nice ..old town design..similar to old Sacramento... Now I could say I've. Been there ... The dinning experience I have not had ..but I'm sure the ticket will be big / pricey .. if two sandwiches, a soda & chips were $50 ... Aside from that ..it was nice 👍🏼
Good sized entrees with garlic bread and salad. The salad is excellent and includes small accents of local olives and house made bean salad. I had the Spinach Ravioli with marinara. Very good but a bit more marinara I could eat. My husband had baby back ribs and ate all he could, and enjoyed it.
Super nice people that work here but the food is Shoney’s adjace. $44 for the Rib Eye is kind of insane given the Rib Eye was pretty tough but was cooked properly but lack of flavor lead me to smother it in A1 sauce 😂🤷🏼♂️ again, great folks here. Jose took great care of me.
The best tourist trap you'll find off the freeway for miles around. It's really a must stop for all travelers and locals alike. This place has all you need, if you are looking for a high end delicatessen with the best deli sandwiches made with a really good choice of meats and cheese. In the store area, you will find jars and jars of locally grown olives as well as imported ones too. They used to have a free sample area but that is gone now. It's worth the stop if you got the cash.
Should have taken a picture of my minestrone soup. I'm used to minestrone soup that has flavor and color, this soup looked dead compared to what I'm used to. It had mushrooms in it which I'm not used to, and it took over the flavor. My friend got chicken strips that looked like it came out of a freezer. Lots of breading, not a lot of chicken. She said the garlic fries were good. My other friend said the hamburger was good. Lasagna was a huge portion, but just ok. House salad was good, but had crushed green olives in it.
Well I went after all the advertising on our way to Oregon. We stopped at the Granzellas. We'll ordered chicken Alfredo which was 10/10. Veggie pizza was 1/10. It was super warm instead of hot. The servers could have been nicer. We are the only colored family. Sorry not coming back.
We stopped by at 730p on a random Thursday and found the dining room closed. So we entered the sports bar and it was very loud and very full. When we asked the waitress if we can order our food and eat in the deli we were told no. So we left. We really needed a quiet dinner to soothe our nerves after three and a half hours of Bay area traffic, but we had to find it someplace else.
Terrible experience, second time eating here. All waitresses need to be trained on customer service and how to work together with co workers. First we had sat down and then a waitress asked us to move, then another said it's OK where we are sitting. Had to wait a long time for somebody to come over and ask if we were ready to order. Also a long wait to get our food, when multiple people came in after had gotten their order first. When food came out it looked great, but had no flavor whatsoever. Also saw an older couple order and never really ate their food and seemed as if they was ready to get a check. 👎🙅♂️
What happened to this place? The water is undrinkable. I tried to switch to a soda, and it was just as bad. Ordered chili and side salad. The chili is no less than 5 days old and tasteless. Salad was totally underwhelming. Way overpriced for food we couldn't eat. They tried to charge for the soda we sent back. Don't waste your time stopping at this overpriced dump. It's not even a shadow of what it used to be. We're totally disappointed! The waiter never once asked about our food or offered to adjust the bill when we left after taking only a couple bites and decided not to take anything with us. I do not usually write bad reviews. This was such a bad experience. I feel I'd be doing the public a disservice by not writing this. It's not the grand restaurant from our childhood. You'd be embarrassed if you talked this place up to someone and then brought them here.
Went to Granzellas early evening on Friday, ordered clam chowder bowl and side salad and it wasn’t very busy. Chowder had almost no clam flavor, just potato soup. Tried to eat it but couldn't. Told server and she voided cost but never offered to order other food so I didn't get dinner. Staff standing around cutting up with each other, not filling water, backs to customers. When I paid I said I've been coming here for over 20 years and this is the worst it's been! Ever since Loui Cairo's burned, service and quality went downhill fast along with increased prices. It unfortunately appears that no competition equals reduced quality and service.
