Good
The place is very pleasant, surrounded by nature. The owner is very attentive and always strives to provide excellent customer service. The seasoning is delicious, the masa tortillas are freshly made, and the pot coffee is delicious. The carnitas are tasty and not greasy at all. The wait time for our food was 15 minutes. I will definitely return. I went with my girlfriend, and we paid $500 pesos for drinks, food, and dessert.
The menu is small, but everything is delicious! I recommend ordering the house specialty, La Aldilla, and the flan for dessert. The tortillas are handmade, which is a nice touch with the broth. We went on Sunday at 10 am and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but I recommend arriving early because the line is usually long. They have tables inside and outside, and the place has a very homey feel. Good prices, although the portions aren't huge. Suggestion for improvement: the servers and the lady at the entrance could use radios instead of constantly shouting about table availability. It would be more pleasant for everyone not to hear them yelling all the time. The outdoor area is lovely, surrounded by nature. I would definitely return and recommend it! They have free parking.
Excellent place to eat outside the city. I went with my girlfriend and we arrived after 8:15 am. We were among the first and hardly waited at all. The carnitas are delicious. I would recommend ordering the aldilla. I don't know if it's the house specialty, but it was delicious. There's no card payment; it's all cash. There's also no cell phone service.
Really nice place, I recommend it
This restaurant is really worth a try and all the cakes they have!! Prices are fairly good (for a couple a regular breakfast we paid 250 MXN/22USD) the manager is really taking care of the Covid rules and also the staff. The view is really nice, easy to get from San Luis Potosí.
The place is nice overall, the breakfast there is awesome along with the ambiance... worth the trip there for the breakfast! ^_^
A very cozy place nestled in the Sierra Álvarez - fireplace and carnitas.
Nice restaurant outside the city
The menu is short but adequate. The specialty, carnitas, is acceptable but not spectacular. The place itself is very nice and pleasant. Payment is cash only, and they're only open on Sundays. I arrived at 10 a.m., so there weren't many people waiting, but when I left, the line was over 20 deep. Some things to consider: the service isn't bad, but they could improve their customer service. The stews aren't as tasty, and they were out of Coca-Cola and Café de Olla by 10 a.m.
Great place, a pleasant and special experience to get out of the routine, the menu is precise, I recommend the aldilla dish with beans (it is spicy), leave room for dessert, I took my daughters and wife, I spent $700 so it seems to me that it is a pretty fair value for the time we were there, there is a wait time, if you go warm you can choose the tables outside it is faster to be assigned a table, you can make a reservation 🙂
I visited Puerta de Alcalá on a Sunday around 11 or 12 in the afternoon, under cloudy skies and a light drizzle. The place has ample parking, which is appreciated. The cabin has charming details that make the visit pleasant, ideal if you're looking for a rustic and cozy atmosphere. I ordered gorditas, which were delicious, as were the desserts. The menu is rather short and simple; their specialty is carnitas, although I didn't try them this time. They accept large groups of up to 10 people, which is very convenient. Points to consider: the furniture is somewhat crowded, which can make the space feel small, especially if there are many people. There is only one restroom for men and one for women. The staff is friendly, although, as other reviews mention, the owner has a somewhat strict personality with her employees. And it's noticeable that the space is small for the demand. Important: there are signs indicating that pets are not allowed, so keep that in mind if you were planning to bring one. Overall, I thought the prices were fair, although the wait was long due to the number of people. I've attached a photo of the line so you can get an idea. P.S.: I didn't take good photos because I didn't want to bother the other diners, but the place has a nice atmosphere.
They don't have a very extensive menu, but I must say that what they offer is very tasty; the carnitas and handmade tortillas are delicious. The view and the overall setting are very pleasant. Here are the details that weren't so nice: The person at the entrance greeting customers is often very rude to the staff, yelling at them without caring that there are many customers. I feel that the young women who served us did an excellent job, but that particular incident was unprofessional. If you want to get a table and avoid a waiting list, you should arrive before 9:00 a.m. The place is small and somewhat cramped, so when it's crowded, it can feel a bit chaotic.
I'm giving it one star, and that's a lot for the bad experience I had. The food is very X-rated—not good, but not bad either. What really bothered me about the place is the person in charge, who has a terrible attitude toward her staff and, even worse, toward customers; they'll kick you out. I had to see them throw chairs so people who were finishing their coffee would leave. When they didn't seem upset, she asked for the check and charged them without asking anything. You go to have a good time with your family, and you end up with a terrible taste in your mouth.
The setting is very pleasant. Having breakfast surrounded by nature is an incredible experience and creates a high expectation of a pleasant time. However, the service is terrible. The owner's attitude leaves much to be desired, creating an uncomfortable experience. The service is poor, with waits of more than 20 minutes just for someone to come to take care of us, and the table is dirty. The food was reasonable for its price, nothing out of the ordinary. By the end, the bathrooms were already closed (an hour before the scheduled opening time, we requested them, and they refused). A terrible experience. I do not recommend it.
