One of the best thin crust tomato souce pizza in San Diego but authentic Italian taste !!! They Use variety of fresh Italian cheeses. Their housemade focaccia bread is worth trying. Tried their Scrocchiarella Nutella Dessert is a must try 👍🏼✅... It is served warm ..a with mascarpone cream, something unique. Given the weekend crowd, service speed could have been better.
This review is long overdue. BEST thin crust pizza you'll ever have. Owners and staff are super friendly and always try their best to deliver the best experience at their restaurant. I have a local business here in PB and I've sent countless customers here with nothing but positive feedback. MUST TRY if you like thin crust pizza!!
Excellent thin-crust pizza, not easy to find in San Diego. The focaccia was also very good. The space feels cozy yet refined.
Ambrogio15 is the real deal. We ordered a classic Pepperoni and the Salamino Piccante, and both were exceptional. The thin crust is absolute perfection—the dough is exquisite, light, and beautifully blistered from the wood fire. Every ingredient tastes fresh and intentional, and this is not American-style pizza; it’s truly authentic Italian pizza. Each simple ingredient is elevated with unmistakable Italian excellence. The service was friendly and prompt, the space is clean and inviting, and you can sit inside or outside. It’s the perfect spot for a sunny lunch, and they even have heaters for cozy nighttime dining. Easily one of the best authentic wood-fired pizza experiences around.
Great Pizza, thin crust style. Somewhat bougie. Not really but it's La Jolla. The polish their glasses and silverware. While linen napkins. They are a bit slow...Its like the employees came from Ocean Beach to work in La Jolla. Pizza is good!
Well it was delicious!! The Caesar salad was fresh and had that anchovy flavor im looking for. The pizza was delicious! We got the Italian sausage and porcini mushroom pizza. The meatballs appetizer was moist and delicious as well. So glad we found them on google maps. The reviews were accurate.
Great Italian location with good food and good service. Great wine recommendations, knowledgeable staff that helped me make the best decision for what I was in the mood for. I'll definitely go back and try other items.
Amazing pizza. If you are looking for a top quality thin crust pizza this is worth a try. Prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. Atmosphere and wine list is more formal than just a casual pizza place but they have outdoor seating if you are bringing kids.
Fully Italian staff made the whole experience feel way more authentic. From the outside—wooden interior, beachy North PB vibe—it looks like a by-the-slice pizza spot, but it’s nothing like that once you step in. Inside, I’d honestly expect to pay $75 a person based on the design, lighting, and overall look of the bar and tables. Our Italian waiter was super friendly and actually enjoyed sharing the backstory of the restaurant. And they’re not kidding about the paper-thin pizza—might be the thinnest crust I’ve ever had. Super tasty, and the salad was solid too. Definitely a once-in-a-while heavy-carb treat.
I met Chef Fabio after spending a month in Italy. What an evening!! Authentic Italian food prepared and served by the best Italian chef in San Diego. Fabio made our family’s celebration spectacular. Our out-of-town guests from NY made us promise to bring them to the restaurant on their next visit. We’re looking forward to it!! Grazie Fabio!!!!
Service: Big shoutout to our server, Jacques — super friendly and attentive! Food: The house salad was really refreshing, and the pizza totally reminded us of our trip to Italy — thin crust and so authentic! The espresso and latte were both excellent. We loved everything we ordered and had such a nice, relaxing brunch on the outdoor patio. Parking: Easy to find parking in the early afternoon, just keep in mind there’s a 2-hour street parking limit.
Outdoor seating was pleasant with good weather. The food definitely hit the mark for what you would expect. I got a gluten free pizza and it was good. The crust wasn't anything special but overall it was a tasty pizza. I loved the red sauce, the perfect pizza sauce
An amazing higher-end pizza spot off Turquoise. Their food reeks of quality. The pizza sauce is savory and memorable, as is the basil and mozzarella! Their salads are also super good. Service is insane here as well. The staff is very helpful and sweet. This is a great spot for a date or a small party. Can’t recommend Ambrogio15 enough! Update: Came back a couple weeks ago with my parents and grandmother for a special celebratory dinner. Hadn’t been here since my first visit a few years back. Everything was even better than I remember. The pizza and lasagna were incredibly tasty. They were very rich but didn’t feel super heavy in your stomach. Very deep flavor in the sauces for both. The cheese board was fabulous as well—it was a nice spread with a lot of variety. The Gorgonzola and Manchego were my favorites, along with the jam. This spot is still high on my list of Italian restaurants in San Diego. Certainly worthy of a visit, and an indoor reservation could work really well for a nice date night.
Such a great pizzeria. Definitely had Italian vibes with the outdoor seating The server was very kind and attentive, when we arrived parking was a bit of a pain but nothing ridiculous We ordered a La Favorita To start the crust, was perfect pizziola Napoli style. Very thin, very good crumb/chew and good crispy shell and soft delicate interior, the toppings were high quality, the burrata was super creamy, the carpaccio was very flavorful
It was very nice place just on the inside of the upper balcony. It has a bar on the upper level but we sat on the main floor. I f you go you must buy the Cheese Plate, it is perfect for four people and very delicious. The margarita pizza is sooooooo good. Plus, they even know the difference between Coke and Mexican Coke (hint Mexican Coke is much better, it has a different sugar).
EDIT: the owner reached out to us apologizing which was very kind. I guess there was a mix up where they thought the gf pizza was an appetizer. Just a misunderstanding The ambiance is sweet. But we ordered, 2 salads, 1 gluten free pizza, 1 gluten free focaccia, and 3 other pizzas. They brought out the gluten free items and salads all at once in about 15mins and then we waited another half an hour (45mins total) for the other 3 pizzas. Perhaps if we weren’t dining with 2 toddlers (we had a 5:30 res and it was almost empty when we arrived) it wouldn’t have been so frustrating. The pies themselves were good. The gluten free was good when it was hot… but hard/chewy as it cooled (as most sadly are). But always so happy to have an option of any kind. Just wish the service was a little better…
Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach is a truly authentic Italian pizza restaurant. If you don’t like thick-crust pizza, come here for their super-thin pizzas—absolutely delicious! With eight people, we averaged around $25 per person, ordered three appetizers and four pizzas. Great value for money!
Had a great experience at Ambrogio15 in Pacific Beach! We ordered three pizzas—Four Cheese, Burrata and Prosciutto, and Margherita. The service was attentive, and the food didn’t disappoint. The crust was thin and perfectly cooked, and all the ingredients tasted super fresh. Definitely worth a visit for quality pizza lovers!
Our crust was hard and the middle was soggy. They have so many great reviews that this seems like an error. Maybe we hit them on a bad night or something. If you like wine, I recommend reviewing their online menu instead of relying on the photos in reviews because there was a huge shift in their pricing. For example, in 2016, the second most expensive red on the menu was $49. In 2026, the least expensive red is $59. The $89 Sangiovese we ordered was not worth that much.
Ate here 2 years ago and it was an experience. I've never had crust quite like that. Today's visit however, went differently. The value just isn't there. Even if it was half price it still isn't worth going to. I don't remember the menu being so convoluted I don't remember that there's absolutely no parking. It was a hassle for some mid-grade food. I don't expect this place will still be here next visit to San Diego.
Pizza was disgusting. I made better pizza as a 4 year old. It was under cooked, paper thin and floppy with cold tomato sauce and cheese falling off it. This wasn’t a pizza, it was a crepe in a tomato bath with pieces of cheese on top. I truly wish I could go back to a time where I never tasted a pizza so bad.
