Jay’s Cheesesteak

Jay’s is amazing! I have been craving a cheesesteak for a really long time now and this place now has me hooked! 10/10 on the chicken hoagie. The sweat potato fries and waffle fries had my partner and I scarfing them down. SOOO GOOD!

So good!!! Teriyaki cheese steak was my favorite. But we got original, jalapeno and city cheese steak. Also got chicken strips. Everything was fresh and delicious 😋 I will be visiting there again.

I drive from Fresno which is roughly 3 hours away just to get their sandwiches...we stumbled upon this place on accident back in 2018 and whenever we come to San Fran we come here and buy extras to take home. The Dodgers sandwich is the best in my opinion and their Chipotle mayo is the best.

I am a vegetarian and I got the seitan sandwich/cheese stake and OH MY GOD it’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I accidentally ordered two sandwiches... and I ate both. I am a very petite woman, and these are 10” sandwiches. What dreams are made of.

Such a good place to eat!! Many menu choices to fill your tummy!!! My partner and I love going here because of the veggie options.

Met Jay and his food was not a disappointment. I don't even like onions in my sandwiches but I ordered the SF Giant cheese steak with what goes in it except Mayo altho I look like I love me some mayo but I substitute it with mustard (my fav) ordered the Hungover cheese steak, seasoned fries and their fried mushrooms, zucchini, mozzarella and sub the jalapeno poppers for seasoned fries which everything was so full of flavors that we tore it up. I even went as far and ordered a roast beef sandwich and pastrami burger to go. That was yummaaaay. Jay was great, friendly and a humble person... just seeing how he interacts with his customers is a great thing to see, you don't see that these days. We plan to visit again and try his other sandwiches on the menu.

The store has a lot of wall art and it is cool. The staff maybe his name is Jay the owner is really warm made me comfortable while dining. If I will be around this area again, definitely I will go back here again. Their price is reasonable. :)

The owner tried 20 other breads to find this current one! Not the same still, but I respect the fact that they care for the quality and take it seriously. Still the best in town :)

What a great local cheesesteak shop in the mission everything I ordered was phenomenal original Philly cheesesteak with a side of onion rings and garlic fries. They're garlic Fries were definitely bomb definitely a place I would visit in the future

I tried the chefs fav burger and it was amazing it was made with love and the customer service over there is absolutely amazing me and the store owner had an amazing conversation he was a great person and great experience overall highly recommend

Small they comfortable place. The colors reminds me the usual fast food chain restaurants It has a bathroom and a couple of tables. Not a fancy place but great to grab a bite A lot of options to choose from! If you are in the area try it out. Be aware that parking can be challenging

I doubt I'll ever have another cheesesteak sandwich taste like this.

My taste buds are tingling and my mouth is lightly burned from eating it while it is too hot but it is delicious. The location is terrible for parking but the physical shop is clean and neat. Food is good, they don't seem to pay attention to much. We order 3 sandwiches and 6 stripes and 2 drinks = $79!! I think that's too much for lunch.

An impressive take on the Philly Cheesesteak. While nothing can compare to Philly, these guys are close. What's really good is the depth of the menu. Lots of atypical offerings- especially vegetarian. Great place to fuel up.

One of the best, if not the best, cheesesteak joints. I highly recomend the mushroom cheesesteak and make sure you dont skip over their sauce selection as that is one of the main reasons why its sooooooooo good. Prepare to eat a hott mess! Their decor is pretty cool too. You'll find yourself zoning out to the awesome art on their wall!

I had the mushroom cheesesteak sandwich. It's a big sandwich and really good. Steak was tender and no fat. Juices did soak the bread towards the end.

I love the artwork in here. They continually change the huge mural on one wall. They have plenty of selections on what to pile on your cheesesteak. However, I go for the basic meat, peppers and cheese. I know, boring! Tip: save room for their french fries. They are crispy and delicious.

Best damn lettuce wrap burger. Beware order customization at all, you risk being disappointed and irritating the staff (even though the menu seems to welcome customization). 4 stars for the food and I'll keep going back cuz it's a damn good burger.

Great classic Philly cheesesteak with cheese wiz. Best thing on the menu along with a side of garlic fries. Yum!! The best in the city. They have a wide range of food to choose from prices are decent portions are big definitely get your moneys worth. Staff is friendly place is clean food always hot and fresh. Highly recommended.

Here's the MF breakdown. Item: Bacon Cheesesteak Bread: Classic French roll, nice and crunchy, well toasted. Cheese: I threwdown the american cheese and I felt like it was a pretty a good choice nice and melty with shoestring style cheese drags. Steak: The texture was nice and well cooked however not very flavorful, I tasted the bacon and cheese more that any meat. Overall: It was cool I guess, but i feel like there are better places close by.

Just okay if yoy are hungry. The Classic Cheesteak (or whatever their standard sandwich is called) used Provolone, which I like. It is a cheese that can handle steak and onions. Too bad they burned the bun and served it Jerk styke. The fries are the same crinkle cuts in rhe big frozen bag we 80s babies love, so that was a winner with me. Overall I was hungty and it was open.

Honestly, I was not impressed with this cheesesteak. They chopped the meat up too fine and it had a spicy kind of taste. I ordered the bacon cheesesteak with the cheese whiz and onions only, like a classic cheesesteak. I preferred Jakes Cheesesteaks and The Cheesesteak shop over Jay's. My wife agreed.

These are not even close to authentic Philly cheesesteaks - that would be fine if they were equally as tasty, but they aren't. There are much better spots in town (Buster's, cheese steak shop, and Jake's to name a few) to grab a cheesesteak

Pretty short staffed there prepared to wait for a while to get your food. Hopefully they can get the brother behind the stove some help. I couldn’t wait forever I left.

Great cheese steak but if you don’t want to wait 30 minutes definitely don’t come here. They prioritize online orders and not the customers in store. Slowest place ever.

Took too long to get my order, salty...very salty, the staff was not accountable for not getting sandwiches on time. I was physically there because the grubhub app said it was ready but it was not; the register guy got mad at me for simply just showing what the app said. 1 star.

I did not like the Philly cheese steak but I was so hungry so u ate the first half and couldn’t eat the second so I gave it to my dog. Me & my dog had diarrhea all day. My dog and I have had Philly cheese steak and our experiences from other places have never been this bad. The meat taste funny/ different and I’ve been to Jays before and never had this experience.
