Get here early... They sell out. Great food, great prices and great service. Katie was both friendly, efficient and awesome all around. Food is yummy and I'll definitely be back!

Mannnn this place is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥all around! Before I ever tried the food, I had the best customer service experience with Katie! She was so sweet and accommodating over the phone and she even double checked to make sure I had the right directions on how to get there. Her thoroughness was very much appreciated! I had some questions so she made time to answer all of them and had some treats waiting for me in the cutest little goodie bag ever! I really loved all the attention to detail and the care they provide to their customers. Katie made it an unforgettable experience for sure! I ordered a large tray of egg rolls and they were so fresh and delicious!!! I usually dip mine in sauce, but these ones were so delicious…I didn’t even need sauce and we ate them all up !!! And you really cannot beat their prices.!! They really pack them down with meat and are not stingy at all!!! I definitely found my new place to get food for catering events!!! Also their pork buns were so yummy! I can’t wait to try all of their other items 😋

The food was excellent. Great tasting (and large) BBQ pork Bánh Mi! The egg rolls were great, too. However, the service was why I felt the need to review. The lady working was so nice. She asked me about my day and gave me a sample of the BBQ pork when they went to get fresh bread for the sandwiches. Would come again and thank you!

Food: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Value: 9/10 Come here for all your Vietnamese food needs! Whether it's a meal, catering a huge party, or even just a quick snack. There's something for everything. We catered for a party of like 50 people and ordered ahead of time to be ready in the morning. All the food came out on time and was delicious! The young lady that helped us SO SO nice and personable haha it was cute. Even offered some extra snacks and coffees while we were waiting for our 10 trays of food to come out. Most of the food was made well and was good, but nothing amazing.... except the lotus root salad... this was 10/10 and I would come back just for that again haha. thanks again!

I recommend their bao! Just the right ratio of the white bun and meat ( like 45% bunh,55% meat). It's super juicy and will taste just as good even if you take it home. Just steam or airfry! I also got their famous platters Banh Bot Loc Tran for$30 The lady there is very nice and welcoming! Let's continue supporting local businesses

This is my favorite place to stop by whenever I am craving for something sweet. They have small portion so you can try different chè. The owner and her daughter are so nice!

From the moment I walked into Kim Huong Food to Go on Bolsa Avenue, I knew my search for the perfect "food to go" place had come to a delightful end. There's something genuinely exceptional about this spot that sets it apart from the rest, compelling me to declare that I won't be going anywhere else for my takeout needs. The real gem of Kim Huong is undoubtedly Thuy, the personable front-of-house manager. Thuy embodies a refreshing blend of traditional family business values and a progressive approach to customer service. It's a rare find in today's fast-paced world to encounter someone who not only understands the essence of customer care but also executes it with the finesse akin to what one might expect at a five-star hotel. Thuy's warm welcome and attentive service immediately made me feel valued and appreciated as a customer. As for the food itself, it's clear from the first glance that each dish is crafted with utmost love and expertise. The attention to detail is palpable, from the vibrant colors that catch your eye to the exquisite balance of flavors that delight your palate. Each bite tells a story of tradition and passion, ingredients that make not just for good food, but for culinary experiences that linger in your memory long after the meal is over. In conclusion, Kim Huong Food to Go is a standout establishment that marries exceptional customer service with culinary craftsmanship. It’s a place where every visit feels like a return to a beloved relative's home, where the food is always prepared with care and served with a smile. If you’re looking for a food to go experience that feels both comforting and elevated, look no further than this wonderful spot on Bolsa Avenue.

I got catering for a birthday party and everyone LOVED IT! I would definitely cater from them again.

This is my family’s go to spot when we have a party. The service is great and the food is amazing. It’s located right next to Bank of America and parking is very limited. If you’re going for a quick pick up I usually park right in front and run in. Thank you Katy for providing good service.

The ladies here are very friendly. Ordering was fast and prices are fair. Food is 10/10. Love the fried chicken and banh mi thit nuong. In the mood for dessert? Grab the che! It comes in cute little cups and is delicious.

I ordered fried rice and egg rolls for a beach potluck. The food was a hit and everyone ate it up quickly. Great service, will come back soon.

This is my second year placing a catered order at Kim Huong. I ordered their banh bột lọc, bánh bèo, banh ít trân, nem nướng, mì xào, lotus salad, and pate chaud. My guests were amazed by how fresh and delicious everything was and asked where I ordered the food. Katie took my order and was very sweet, patient, and professional on the phone. She is the epitome of excellent customer service. I was 2 hours late to pick up my food and she was very understanding. I will continue to order from them bc they are consistent with providing high quality food at a great price. Thank you Katie and team for making my toddler's birthday party appear seamless!

Stopped by to grab something quick to hold me over until lunch time as I was i was visiting the area. Sandwich was great, I considered going back right afterwards but I'll definetly be back if I'm ever around here. I'm a different ethnicity and feel weird in this part of town but the cashier was very nice and informative. Price was great. 5/5 stars for a -$- food. If your complaining about 2 dollars worth of food, your letting your inner Asian come out.

Love this place. The food is so great , our favorites are the spring rolls , pate , and egg rolls We have tried a lot of items and everything is always great. Amazing service too. Katie at the register is so helpful , we aren’t Vietnamese and she was so helpful with informing us more about the food

I've been here a few times with my GF. We love the quaintness of the store, and the ladies are nice and friendly. They have a few unique things that we don't find at other places, like banh cuon with thit nuong inside, and I think I recall rolls also made with thit nuong (I could be wrong). I prefer their unique take on nem chua. I love their nem chua and prefer theirs to every other place now. It's not as pink and funky like you normally see everywhere else. They look similar to blocks of cha chien with hot chilis and garlic slices. The pieces are big, so I cut them down into quarters and enjoy them even longer. So bright and flavorful. My mouth rings with excitement. Someone gave them a bad review for this, but I completely disagree. Ngon qua!

We came here to cater food trays for our child's birthday. The good was great. No complaints from our guest. I recommend the vegetarian egg rolls and the pate chaud! Amazingly good and tasty. Shout out to the cashier that was helping us. Our order was quite big and she went out of her way to confirm with the kitchen staff just to make sure we didn't over ordered to save us money. Definitely using the place for more catering orders.

This was my first time ever having Burma food and it did not disappoint. This place is amazing, the food is so incredibly flavorful and the dishes are so unique. Even the rice here with coconut is just amazing. We weren’t able to get a table inside due to long wait time so we just sat outside but the servers were also so kind and gave us blankets because it was a little cold. 10/10

We had a great dinner here!!! The portions are huge and the outdoor seating area is great for groups. We enjoyed the tea leaf salad, samusa, palutha, chicken noodle soup and the garlic eggplant. Lovely service!

There aren't enough good things to say about this place. It is one of my favorite restaurants. Everything is delicious. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you haven't already. The restaurant itself is pretty small, we almost always eat at the outside tables off the sidewalk. With the heaters on, it was very comfortable even in the winter.

Had a great time here. Everything we tried tasted fresh and well-balanced, and the flavors came together really nicely. The drinks were smooth and worked perfectly with the appetizers. Our main dishes were cooked just right — flavorful without being overwhelming, and clearly made with care. The whole place has a relaxed vibe that makes the meal even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for quality Asian-inspired food and a genuinely pleasant dining experience.

We were a group of 7 and unfortunately didn’t have a reservation but trying to eat at 5:30pm. They were so thoughtful and accommodating to get us a table. It was our first time eating here so we all tried something different. The chicken samosas were delicious along with the palath bread and dip. For entrees we had coconut curry, crispy and spicy chicken, walnut shrimp, fried rice and garlic noodles. Everything was fantastic and service was excellent. Our server Rio was awesome along with all the other team members. Ginger lemon drop martini was so good I had to have another one. I also had my first taste of Thai iced tea and wow was that great too. Very small place but excellent meal and atmosphere. Definitely a repeat restaurant anytime I visit Alameda.

Good first experience with Burmese food. Chicken Samusa’s were nice crisp and hot, 4 moderate size portion, could easily be shared. I was recommended the Nan Gyi Dok as a common favorite. Big portion of food mixed tablesize that was well seasoned. It was a good portion of noodles with not as much chicken as I would’ve liked. This dish could easily feed two if you’re not a person who eats a lot or could fill a good and hungry person. If I had requested extra protein I could’ve split this into two meals. The weather was beautiful so enjoyed the outside dining which was largely empty and a pleasant surprise to enjoy. Overall very happy with the visit and would recommend if you enjoy southeastern Asia food

Burma Superstar is always on my must-visit list whenever I’m in the Bay Area! My absolute favorite dishes are the mango salad and mango tofu—both bursting with fresh mango flavor. The sesame tofu and the tea leaf salad is also a must-try. Highly recommended !

The tea leaf salad and coconut rice are the best! The salad is nothing like I've had anywhere else, and the noodles are excellent. I highly recommend it if you’re in the Alameda area

We went there for sunday lunch and it was excellent experience. We got the Burmese python, which is a great cocktail and paired well with salt and pepper calamari. For main course we ordered garlic noodle with chicken and chicken kebat. Both of them were moderately spiced and go well together. Altogether very fresh food with fresh incidents. Highly recommend, if you looking for Asian food and in the area

I checked out several Alameda restaurants and captured Burma Superstar for Restaurant Week--mostly the vibe, but everything I've tried was worth coming back for. They offer great outdoor seating and despite always being busy, they have great fast seating. The food is healthy and cultural with vibrant flavors that match their downtown location. You can't go wrong with any of these flavorful and varied dishes - eating there is like a date where you can really pay attention to the food.

We held a dinner meeting here and the staff was very nice. They kept us informed on happy hour timing and checked in on us without being disruptive. The food was really good. I mean really good. The happy hour mango lassi with vodka was nice. The wine was ok. I think I'd stick to cocktails and beers

Oh my god the food was so good. We weren’t expecting to eat here but on a gloomy, chilly, day in SF having a bowl of curry with fluffy coconut rice hit the spot. We also ordered the appetizer of coconut curry chicken dip with thousand layer bread and nearly a year later I still think about it. Heavenly. Delicious.

It was my first time trying Burmese food, and I loved it! The crunchy Burmese Style salad was tasty, and the curry was delicious too. I haven't been to Myanmar so can't tell whether the food is authentic, but they did a great job making it flavorful. You'd like their food if you like Southeast Asian food in general. I'd revisit when I'm back in town.

This iconic place on Park in Alameda is the perfect place for a night out on Alameda when you are looking for something a little exotic but very tasty. The restaurant is located in one of those old establishment buildings full of that sense of coming from a different era. There is a decent amount of indoor seating plus plenty of outside seating in their own enclosure by the street, but quite comfortable. I often get a craving for three food offerings at this place and so I am a regular customer. A meal there would not feel complete without an appetizer of Platha bread with curry (chicken curry, but there are substitutes for vegetarian tastes or lamb, one of my favorites). They have a number of great skillets, I really like the shrimp with mango or alternatively with walnuts. They are delicious. There are plenty of other options with chicken, lamb or eggplant, so there is something for everybody. The waiters are always super friendly and accommodating. As you can tell, I highly recommend this place, both for the food and the ambience - probably my favorite Burmese restaurants.

The tea leaf salad was a flavor explosion—earthy, crunchy, and totally unique. The platha was perfectly flaky, and the coconut rice complemented everything beautifully. The cozy atmosphere added to the experience. However, the wait time was longer than expected, and parking was a bit of a hassle. Still, the food made it all worthwhile

Our server Timothy was the best and we thought the food was good. Timothy explained the history of the restaurant and providing helpful tips for us . When they brought out the famous tea leaf salad the server explained the process of folding the salad ( please see video) . The restaurant is small and comfy so if you do not want to eat outside in the cold (heater lamps are provided) then I would suggest you try not to go during peak hours. You must try the jasmine ginger honey tea…the best tea ever!!!

Great selections of Burmese food. Tea leaf salad and cat fish chowder are my favorite. Pork curry also tastes very flavorful with different spices. Chicken fried rice using brown rice with harder rice texture which tastes really good as well. High ceiling interior makes the space comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Allison Vennerberg

This place largely lived up to the hype for me. The sesame beef was some of the lightest, most flavorful I've ever had. Also loved the vegetable samosas and the platha with dip. The garlic noodles and mango chicken were good, but not as memorable. There was a snafu with a drink we ordered being unavailable and no one ever offering an alternative beverage, but otherwise service was fine.

Elizabeth Smith
Elizabeth Smith

The value for the extremely high price is missing. Extremely overpriced drinks, rice is not included with the entree and can be nearly $4/bowl, and most entrees are at least $25 each. The potatoes in the samosa were not cooked through and all the ingredients fall out when you take a bite. The rainbow salad was extremely subpar. The chicken in it had a weird texture and you couldn't taste the individual ingredients...it's as if it had very few. The tea leaf salad was great though. The drink order became a chaotic mess. Drinks that were the same looked completely different. We spent almost $100 per person on our group of 8. The 20% tip was included as expected, but then the restaurant's small, handheld, check paying machine requests even more tip! I guess the $150 tip for 90 minutes wasn't quite enough. I haven't been for years and won't go again.

No expired day on the box. Just purchased this with mold on the tofu😰. I can’t return because my house is very far from there. It is so dangerous for my grandma’s health if I don’t see this before her lunch time. Beware !!!

I ordered pork egg rolls one day in advance due to the holidays for pick up the following day ar 5 pm. When I got there, and after I paid, they said that they were out of pork, soooo effing annoying, They could have said something before charging me and perhaps called to let me know before I got there.
