I love the food here!! Me and my friend go here for my birthday, and I love getting the garlic rolls. 🤤 The ravioli is also really amazing. Then I also love the sparkling drinks! There isn't a lot of negative things I have to say about the service, but it can take some time for someone to come take your order, and also a while for the food to come. I guess other people love it as much as me!
Bartender took care of us and she was GREAT! Good was amazing, didn't miss the polenta w/ bolognese sauce!
I visited with a friend for dinner but it was MLK day and a holiday so busy for a Monday and the noise from the open kitchen made our conversation a bit difficult. That said, everything else was superb; we had the soft polenta and Pear/Proscuitto pizza - both delicious. I have to give high praise for our server Koa; he was everything a server should be ... when we were wondering about which wine to choose he let us know which were on Happy Hour prices; he also offered to get a small taste of the wine for my friend when he wasn't sure which to choose. He was attentive and easy to find throughout our meal. His service was excellent and his consideration for his guests in helping us make selections was appreciated. He did a fantastic job :-)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful dining experience, thanks in large part to our incredible server, Tristan L. From the moment we sat down, Tristan was friendly, polite, and attentive—never letting our drinks go empty and making us feel genuinely welcome. The food was a mix of hits and misses: the pesto penne was absolutely delicious, and the lasagna was rich and flavorful—definitely a standout! The fettuccine Alfredo wasn’t quite to my taste, but everything else more than made up for it. The true highlight of the evening was Tristan’s exceptional service. He elevated the entire experience with his warmth and professionalism. We’ll definitely be back when back in town (from Seattle) - and hoping Tristan’s our server again!
Tomatina is a restaurant that is in the city where I live, I confess that I had never been there one day I said...it's today!! Since my favorite Italian restaurant had closed in the Oakland area. I go to restaurants in almost the entire Bay area, but this one was a pleasant surprise for me and I have been repeating it religiously every Thursday and every day is a surprise in addition to the excellent service I always get from the waitress Cris. It will be easy for you to find out who Cris is, she has a streak of green hair and a kind of Irish and alternative way. But she is an incredibly friendly person, I can say that she is, if not better, one of the best waitresses I have ever seen in my life, simply unforgettable... someone who makes you want to be served all the time by her, because she is wonderful. Not only in efficiency in service but also in immense friendliness. Don't miss out. This is an experience worth differentiating between before and after she met you. The food is wonderful and comes quickly, the attentive Cris always remembers my name and remembers my characteristics from previous orders, like asking for a spoon to eat my spaghetti, something I've done since I was a child when my mother and father learned at school. Italy this. Furthermore, the care with the food, care and attention to customers is something fantastic. Cris has a memory that always remembers her name and her characteristics, food, as well as moving quickly, with a diplomatic education. Everything comes quickly, it's a clean and pleasant place. The staff is polite, the food is to die for and I always pray that I have found a new, better Italian restaurant for you to eat at, finally. I'm a fan of the place, I can't have better reviews than that.
My daughter and I came here to enjoy some pasta at a restaurant we had never been to before. It's located in downtown Alameda on park. We did not have to wait for seating at lunch time. They have the QR code and paper menus available. We were able to place our orders and receive our food quickly. The menu options were good and the food was delicious. Our server was basically the only one working at the time and she did a great job with drinks and bringing the food while also taking orders.
I went to Tomatina’s after a very very long time, and I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food and great service hasn’t changed. My absolute favorite thing to order off the menu here is their calzone! It’s a friggin’ amazing calzone! Probably my favorite from anywhere. The dough is chef’s kiss, they give you the option to stuff it with up to 3 toppings and they really load it up to! Also I was ecstatic to find out that they do happy hour here till 7pm!! The drinks are so fun here, I love a fruity drink. We also had the meatballs off the happy hour menu and they were pretty good. Additionally I want to give a shout out to the hispanic lady with the pretty glittery pink nails - sadly I didn’t catch her name but she was soo sweet checking in on us and asking how everything was, really great customer service on her end!
The Angry shrimp is delicious and mamas meatballs are always a favorite. Sometimes a little over focused on take out customers leaving dine in customers slow service
*Pandemic update 2, Oct 2022. Food is still made to order, and expeditious! On Thursdays, kids eat free with each adult entree ordered, so be prepared for a wait if you go that evening. *pandemic update: June 2022, and the food is still fresh and made to order. Piadine, lasagna, pizzas are all safe standards the kitchen does well, and their seasonal specials are usually quite good. Prices have gone up about $8 per entree since 2020, but that's the cost of living coupled with inflation, supply chain issues, and We haven't patronized Tomatina in over a decade becsuse of a past meal that was downright disgusting. We recently revisited them to discover they've upped their game, thankfully. Their lunch special of an app and an entree is a great value. Their kid's meals are enough to feed 2 young kids, and it is recommended to grab a reservation on weekends via Open Table. Their base marinara sauce is very garlicky, fyi. Their lasagna is decent enough for my husband to order more than once, the kid's pizza is what my munchkin loves and I've been making my way around the menu. I'd skip the chicken marsala but their salmon has been cooked very well, as well as the roasted crucifers (broccoli and cauliflower) appetizer. Overall, an excellent value for the quality and price point for a chain restaurant.
Food is average, but good. Service is regular. I did the storefront in oil pastels on paper and gave it to them. Not too pricey. NOTE: They are the first to receive an painting of their store from me and the only ones who will have a 4 star (we feel confident they will get to five) and receive a painting. Going forward, if a business receives a five star review from myself or YobiWorks Studios LLC, they will get a painting that is 9x12 or smaller to hang on their wall at no cost to themselves!
this Establishment has no business calling itself an “Italian” Restaurant. the food is OK, but nothing to write home about. but still, it’s got positive vibes and not the worst place to spend $100 on a family dinner. ill be back
Thursdays is when we usually frequent Tomatina as they have the children eat free night. As long as you pay for an entree, you can a free child’s meal. So if you pay for two entree, you can get two free children meals. Calzone, pretty much a folded in pizza was delicious. You can select your toppings so whatever you fancy for that day, you can have it. The January special is underwhelming. Seems to be the worst entree I have had from Tomatina. It was bland! So bland that even the Manila clams were not salty when it should have some salty taste to it naturally. Not sure what they did but yuck! Glad January ends tomorrow so they’ll have another special planned.
Pretty consistent food for the family. They seat every other table. Menus are obtained through a bar code scanned on your phone. If you are older and not comfortable ordering food online, this might be a struggle. So have young people with you. You'll have to pay through their app as well which means entering your credit card information on your phone. That being said, we ordered the margarita pizza with sausage and olives, lasagna and a pasta dish. With a couple of drinks, it was pushing $100. The floor inside our booth was dirty and had old napkins from previous customers but it usually isn't that way. And the staff are sticklers for safety which is good. Food was okay.
I liked my good, great pasta dishes but customer service here has been horrible every single time I be gone, inattentive, disorganized and rude staff plus long waits (50 mins+). So I decided no more eating there and ordered takeout instead. I encountered different issues, items left out of orders. Orders not ready - had to wait 40 minutes, no apologetic for the mistakes and that itself made me stop going. The right back having to come and get the missing items by the time you go back to your home your food is cold stop here don't realize all the trouble we go through specially when all you're trying to do is feed your kids. I did send feedback to the corporate they don't acknowledge anything not even the 10% coupon or a we're sorry for the experience you had. Won't be going back to this location.
The food was not at all up to expectation. We were five people in the party and each one of us did not even complete half of the dish. My pesto pasta had almost a cup full of oil in it, literally the food was floating in oil. Not just that but even other orders were not up to mark, and didn't taste as expected. I won't say that the food tasted bad, it just didn't taste good and not even a slight bit healthy. Having said that, the service was really awesome, the servers were very helpful and attentive and accommodating you. Ambience was not so good as literally the whole restaurant was empty. The menu cards were dirty with glass and food marks on them.
Waiter Tristan could not remember our order. Did not look happy to be at work and it showed. Food was cold when it got to the table. Garlic bread was stiff like it had been sitting out and was not fresh. The hard tea tasted like a peach iced tea from jack in the box. Pesto sauce was really good I can say that and Alex was very friendly when we came in the restaurant. Honestly I would not recommend coming here, you'd do a lot better at the olive garden.
